Chapter 5: Captured By The “Poor Boy” Ex-boyfriend He Once Despised (5)
Gu Yang paused: “You didn’t see wrong?”
Auntie Zhang waved her hand: “Oh, sir, look at what you’re saying—how could I mistake something like that?”
Gu Yang rubbed his fingers together and nodded to Auntie Zhang: “Then I’ll be the one making the porridge for the next few days. You just keep an eye on Ji Xiangmian.”
Auntie Zhang couldn’t stop smiling: “You’re truly so good to Young Master Ji.”
She pondered over the relationship between Gu Yang and Ji Xiangmian, guessing they were friends; being able to go to this extent was truly rare and commendable. Unexpectedly, Gu Yang’s face immediately darkened upon hearing this, and he waved his hand to dismiss her from the room.
Auntie Zhang was a bit confused, but she obediently left the room nonetheless.
Gu Yang sat on the sofa for a while, then suddenly swept everything off the table and onto the floor.
Him, good to Ji Xiangmian?
Good my ass!
Unlike Gu Yang, Ji Xiangmian had a great night’s sleep. The next morning, he was pleasantly surprised to find that he could already laboriously prop himself up against the bed. However, his legs still lacked strength. It would likely take more time to recover.
Ji Xiangmian sat at the head of the bed, smacking his lips as he pointed things out to 666: “Why hasn’t the pure-hearted puppy come yet today?”
“And where’s my breakfast? Does he expect a sickly beauty like me to crawl out to eat?”
666 imagined that scene and shivered. If the male lead saw that, this world would probably be forced into its second restart.
Ji Xiangmian was hungry, so he tilted his head back and stared blankly at the ceiling to distract himself. The door was opened from the outside, and Ji Xiangmian looked over.
Gu Yang walked in with a group of people, a flash of surprise crossing his eyes when he saw the person already propped up against the headboard on his own. Ji Xiangmian looked over with clear eyes and gave a very obedient smile:
“Mr. Gu.”
Gu Yang gave a grunt, ordered the people to install the surveillance, and walked to the bedside to pick Ji Xiangmian up to wash up. Ji Xiangmian submissively let Gu Yang carry him to a wheelchair and push him into the bathroom.
After washing his face and taking care of his physiological needs, Ji Xiangmian’s face was completely red. His thick, curled eyelashes trembled as he said in a tiny voice: “I can sit on the toilet by myself.”
His legs lacked strength now, but he didn’t necessarily have to stand and be held by someone…
Gu Yang lowered his eyes. In his line of sight was Ji Xiangmian’s face, burning red like a soft peach. A sudden sense of superiority and pleasure bloomed in his heart. Facing Ji Xiangmian, Gu Yang actually had a rare, slight smile on his face.
“Which part of your body have I not seen? You’re getting shy now?”
Ji Xiangmian’s eyes rounded as he ranted wildly in his head: “Look, look, look! My pure-hearted puppy really has changed. He’s turned into a ‘thirsty dog,’ boohoo.”
666: “…”
Ji Xiangmian clicked his tongue: “Seeing him like this makes me involuntarily recall the happy times we spent together. He used to be so careful, can he ravage me now?”
Ji Xiangmian looked at Gu Yang, his eyes widening even further, screaming in his heart: “Don’t show mercy! Please, order Mianmian as you please!”
Gu Yang looked away: “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Ji Xiangmian was disappointed: “It seems he didn’t understand my hint.”
666: “…” Exactly who is the thirsty dog here?!
Gu Yang had just turned his head away when he immediately looked back, pinching Ji Xiangmian’s cheek: “What, are you surprised?”
“Before you ran off with that side piece, you were pestering me for ‘happiness’ every single day.”
Ji Xiangmian pursed his lips tightly. He wasn’t, he didn’t! It turns out Gu Yang was the one who wanted too much!
666: “My mother tongue is ‘speechless.’ I don’t really want to hear you guys talk about this.”
Ji Xiangmian was surprised: “I thought your mother tongue was machine code. By the way, are you little systems born knowing how to speak Chinese? Does the whole world speak Mandarin?”
666 let out a long breath and unilaterally cut off the connection with Ji Xiangmian. Let this thirsty dog get lost.
Ji Xiangmian felt dejected. Facing the temperamental Gu Yang made him nervous, couldn’t he just say a few jokes? He felt a bit wronged. Having his cheek pinched by Gu Yang made his speech a bit slurred: “I don’t really remember.”
Gu Yang paused and slowly let go of his hand. He gave a self-mocking laugh, feeling inexplicably dejected. Ji Xiangmian forgetting everything from the past made it feel as though only he was still drowning in the past, like a pathetic, resentful woman.
Ji Xiangmian tilted his head, wondering why the man’s mood had suddenly shifted. He tugged on Gu Yang’s sleeve and asked cautiously: “What are those people in the room doing?”
Gu Yang pulled back his attention and said indifferently: “Installing surveillance.”
Just after finishing in the bathroom, Gu Yang had pushed him out of the room.
Ji Xiangmian: “!” His happiness was gone!
Gu Yang placed the wheelchair by the dining table and brought over the porridge he had brewed this morning from the kitchen. Ji Xiangmian had been hungry for a long time. His gaze fixed expectantly on the porridge bowl, and his stomach even growled twice. His face, which had just cooled down a bit, heated up again.
Placing the porridge in front of Ji Xiangmian, Gu Yang tilted his chin up: “Eat.”
This little brat who ran away after doing wrong deserved to starve for a couple of meals.
Ji Xiangmian picked up the spoon and took two bites. Sure enough, breakfast today was still made by Gu Yang. Seeing him eat with his eyes crinkling in delight, Gu Yang couldn’t help but ask: “Is it good?”
Ji Xiangmian immediately nodded: “It’s delicious!”
When he was still dating Gu Yang, he felt that even if this guy ended up without a job, he could support himself by becoming a chef.
Gu Yang gave a light sneer: “Is that so? You used to look down on this the most.”
Ji Xiangmian’s movement with the spoon paused, and the smile on his face faded: “In the past… did I do things that were that awful?”
Dammit, he was a scum shou the last time he was here! What kind of nice words could you expect a scum shou to say?
Gu Yang clasped his hands in front of him and said in a cold voice: “Yes. And the things you said before were more than just that.”
“You said I was poor and had no background, destined to be cannon fodder in society.”
“You said being able to cook was useless—there are plenty of people who cook better than me. Did I plan to be a cook in the future?”
“You also said I was cowardly and useless, a loser who couldn’t afford to keep a boyfriend.”
Ji Xiangmian reminisced—did he really say those things? Memories surfaced, Ji Xiangmian looked away guiltily. It seemed he indeed had, and he had even said a bunch of things far worse than that.
Well, what kind of sweet talk do you expect from a scum shou?
Gu Yang’s brow darkened, and the aura around him turned frigid. In fact, Ji Xiangmian had also said that things Zhou Sheng could pull out casually were things he wouldn’t be able to provide in his entire lifetime. Gu Yang suddenly clenched his fist.
He wanted to ask Ji Xiangmian: what about now?
But Ji Xiangmian likely wouldn’t have any response now.
Exhaling a deep breath, Gu Yang looked up at Ji Xiangmian and froze. Ji Xiangmian’s eyes were wet and red, and large tears were sliding down from the corners of his eyes. Two wet spots had already appeared next to the porridge bowl on the table.
He looked pitifully miserable.
Ji Xiangmian sniffled: “I’m sorry. I was really too wicked in the past.”
Gu Yang’s pinky finger twitched. Unconsciously, he reached out and wiped away the tear at the corner of Ji Xiangmian’s eye. His fingertips felt slightly hot.
