Chapter 4: Captured By The “Poor Boy” Ex-boyfriend He Once Despised (4)
Ji Xiangmian’s face almost cracked.
“Where did my pure-hearted puppy go?! Ah! Why is he playing so dirty now?!”
666 was speechless: “Most of what he said isn’t technically wrong, you know.”
Ji Xiangmian: “…”
He slowly widened his eyes, his shocked expression appearing as though it wasn’t an act at all.
Seeing his expression, Gu Yang finally felt a bit better. He looked at Ji Xiangmian expressionlessly and spoke in a cold voice: “Not only that, you even stole my money to support your side piece. In the end, after you got into the accident, that man just dumped you at the hospital.”
Gu Yang’s lips curled, his gaze unscrupulously sweeping over Ji Xiangmian’s body hidden under the thin quilt. “If it weren’t for my sudden act of benevolence, the grass on your grave would probably be two meters high by now.”
After saying this, he himself first frowned uncomfortably and skipped over the topic.
“But a fickle man like you—I won’t ever like you again.”
“The only reason I’m still paying people to treat you is because you owe me a massive sum of money. You have to pay me back.”
Ji Xiangmian’s lips moved slightly: “But… but I don’t have any money right now.”
Gu Yang raised an eyebrow, seemingly waiting for this exact sentence: “So you’d better hurry up and recover. In the future, whatever I tell you to do, you must do.”
Ji Xiangmian gave a light titter: “Old 6, did you see that? He still craves my body.”
“Hah, and here I thought my perfect face and beautiful body no longer held any attraction for him.”
666: “…I beg you to have some shame.”
Ji Xiangmian blinked at Gu Yang and asked in a small voice: “Then how much money do I owe you?”
Gu Yang contemplated: “At least several tens of millions.”
He adjusted his cuffs and looked up at Ji Xiangmian: “Oh, right. You followed me before you even graduated from university, so you don’t have any proper job experience.”
Ji Xiangmian nodded. He understood. No proper job meant he’d have to spend his whole life paying off the debt.
Gu Yang was so bad; he loved it so much.
Ji Xiangmian struggled to prop himself up on the bed, wanting to sit up, but his arms lacked the strength. Even after beads of sweat broke out on his forehead, he didn’t succeed. A flash of dejection crossed his face as he looked up at Gu Yang.
“Mr… Gu, I’m afraid it might be a while before I can start working.”
Looking at Ji Xiangmian, Gu Yang felt as if his heart had been pricked.
Could amnesia really change a person’s personality this much? Or was this the kind of person Ji Xiangmian was originally? The sweetness and the pain he shared with Ji Xiangmian were both deeply engraved in his heart. But in just these short two hours today, that foundation seemed to waver. All of Ji Xiangmian’s arrogance and self-indulgence had been replaced by this pale, well-behaved appearance.
It was simply enough to make one’s heart soften.
Gu Yang took a deep breath, dropped a sentence—”Focus on recovering first”—and hurriedly left the room.
Ji Xiangmian looked at the door that had been slammed shut and smacked his lips. “My pure-hearted puppy has changed.”
666 didn’t think much of it: “His hatred for you has been marinating in a jar of vinegar for three years. How could he not change?”
Ji Xiangmian’s expression was serious: “No, that’s not what I meant.”
“Then what do you mean?”
Ji Xiangmian looked up at the ceiling weakly. “I was struggling so hard to sit up, and he didn’t even give me a hand.”
“Also, I’m hungry. Why didn’t he prepare food for me?”
“If I starve to death, who’s going to pay back his debt!”
666: “…”
When he was in a coma, he could only consume liquid supplements; Ji Xiangmian’s stomach felt empty and hollow now. He grumbled incessantly to 666, accusing the pure-hearted puppy of not loving him anymore.
Ten minutes later, the door was opened again, and a nanny walked in. The moment she entered, Ji Xiangmian’s eyes fixed on… the tray in her hands.
It smelled so good. It was the scent of seafood porridge.
The nanny was older. Ji Xiangmian hadn’t seen her before, likely hired by Gu Yang after he had left the world. The nanny’s lips curved, the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes prominent, but her voice was very gentle.
“Young Master Ji, you can just call me Auntie Zhang.”
“Hungry, aren’t you? Come, have some porridge.”
Ji Xiangmian spoke up obediently: “Auntie Zhang, could you help me sit up?”
Looking at Ji Xiangmian’s well-behaved manner, Auntie Zhang’s heart softened further. She placed the bowl of porridge on the low cabinet by the bed and helped Ji Xiangmian lean against the headboard.
Ji Xiangmian’s hands were powerless, so the porridge was fed to him by Auntie Zhang, one spoonful at a time. While he ate, he said to 666: “This wasn’t made by my little Gu. It’s not as tasty as his cooking.”
666: “How can even eating fail to shut your mouth?”
After finishing the modest portion of porridge, Ji Xiangmian felt he wasn’t quite full yet. However, Auntie Zhang cleared away the bowl and spoon, advising softly: “You’ve just woken up, you can’t eat too much. How about having some more a bit later?”
Ji Xiangmian nodded: “I’ll listen to Auntie Zhang.”
But his eyes remained fixed on the empty porridge bowl, like a starving little stray cat. Watching expectantly.
Auntie Zhang hardened her heart, quickly packed the dishes, and walked out of the room. Oh dear, she felt that not giving Ji Xiangmian more food was almost a sin.
As she stepped out with the dishes, she was called over by Gu Yang. She recounted exactly what had happened to him.
Gu Yang couldn’t help but curl his lips; even without seeing it, he could imagine that look.
Auntie Zhang mentioned casually: “Young Master Ji looks so well-behaved. Oh, I almost couldn’t stop myself from serving him another bowl. But the doctor said he can’t eat too much for now, so I’ll bring some more later.”
Auntie Zhang wasn’t quite sure what the relationship between Ji Xiangmian and Gu Yang was, but seeing Gu Yang’s manner, he likely cared for Ji Xiangmian. Not to mention, Ji Xiangmian was so obedient it made one’s heart soft.
Listening to Auntie Zhang, Gu Yang retracted his smile. He gave a self-mocking laugh—how could he forget? Ji Xiangmian had always been likable. Whether before or after his amnesia.
The little liar.
Thinking of something, he said to Auntie Zhang: “Have someone install surveillance in his room tomorrow.”
Auntie Zhang paused, then nodded in agreement. “Given Young Master Ji’s current condition, installing surveillance is more reassuring.”
Gu Yang didn’t say anything. This, of course, wasn’t just to make it easier to check on Ji Xiangmian’s condition. Whether Ji Xiangmian actually had amnesia was still in question. He was afraid this little brat was faking it all, and he wouldn’t even know if he ran away one day.
Gu Yang leaned back on the sofa, his eyelids slightly lowered. This time, he couldn’t give Ji Xiangmian another chance to escape.
Ji Xiangmian wasn’t quite full, but he was too lazy to move his body anymore. Anyway, he wouldn’t recover in a short time, so he might as well save his energy.
Gu Yang didn’t appear again for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening, Auntie Zhang came to deliver another meal. Besides porridge, there was also some easily digestible pasta. Ji Xiangmian took a bite, and his eyes instantly lit up.
“This time it was made by Gu Yang. It’s even tastier than what I had before.”
With Gu Yang absent, Ji Xiangmian didn’t hide his expression at all. His eyes crinkled with joy as he ate. Little did he know, after Auntie Zhang finished feeding him, she went and told Gu Yang everything that had happened, down to the last detail.
