Chapter 2: Captured By The “Poor Boy” Ex-boyfriend He Once Despised (2)
Gu Yang: “…”
666: “…”
Gu Yang’s expression, which had gone blank for a split second because of Ji Xiangmian’s words, quickly recovered, becoming even gloomier than before.
He suddenly reached out and braced his hands on either side of Ji Xiangmian’s head, his speed so fast that Ji Xiangmian subconsciously closed his eyes. His thick eyelashes trembled violently; Ji Xiangmian could feel a gaze falling on his face as if it were a physical weight.
He almost had his reaction seen through.
Ji Xiangmian slowly opened his eyes, unexpectedly meeting Gu Yang’s frigid stare. The man’s eyes were bloodshot, his face slightly distorted with rage. He was panting heavily, and even the arms bracing him on both sides were trembling slightly.
Ji Xiangmian pursed his lips, appearing somewhat frightened by Gu Yang’s appearance. “Did I do something wrong? I’m sorry.”
Driven to the peak of fury, Gu Yang actually laughed. He straightened up, standing by Ji Xiangmian’s bed as he adjusted his cuffs, speaking in a slow, deliberate manner: “Don’t think that playing these little tricks will make me let you go.”
He took a deep breath. His brow twitched as his gaze swept over Ji Xiangmian’s body covered by a thin blanket; he gave a cold snort and turned to leave.
The bedroom door closed again, and Ji Xiangmian let out a long sigh of relief.
666’s snide voice rang out: “Oh? Scared?”
Ji Xiangmian continued his difficult attempt to move his body, giving a light huff: “The word ‘scared’ doesn’t exist in my dictionary. This is called wisdom, you get it? You single-celled organism.”
666, whose true form was indeed just a single light ball: “…” It felt personally attacked.
While Ji Xiangmian attempted the salted fish flip, he contemplated the plot of this world.
In this world, Ji Xiangmian was a student who had just graduated from university, and Gu Yang was his classmate. Unlike Ji Xiangmian, who had barely scraped into the school by meeting the cutoff score, Gu Yang’s grades were among the best in the entire university. The two were in the same dorm and the same class, and naturally, they ended up together.
Knowing Ji Xiangmian was pampered and delicate, Gu Yang would go out to work part-time in his spare time just to make life better for him. However, Ji Xiangmian’s mission was to be a scum, so he met a rich second-generation heir in the bar where Gu Yang worked. Things that Gu Yang had to save for months or even half a year to buy, the rich heir could easily gift to him.
Unsurprisingly, Ji Xiangmian threw himself into the rich heir’s embrace, yet he couldn’t bear to let go of Gu Yang’s meticulous care, so he cheated. The rich heir, of course, wouldn’t allow Ji Xiangmian to please both sides and intentionally humiliated Gu Yang once while he was working.
Ji Xiangmian reminisced—what did he do back then?
He was held in the rich heir’s arms, acting bossy and demanding Gu Yang pour wine, then mocking him, saying he’d never be able to afford such expensive wine in his life. He even said he only used him as a long-term meal ticket at school and never intended to be with him in the future.
Ji Xiangmian took a deep breath. Although it was scummy, it wasn’t that over the top, right?
666: “Yes, so this is the world with the lowest level of collapse among all the worlds.”
Ji Xiangmian: “…”
Thank you, I feel so much better now.
Given how Gu Yang looked just now, looking like he wanted to strangle him the next second, that’s the lowest level of blackening?
666 let out a long sigh: “You have to pay back the sins you committed yourself.”
Ji Xiangmian struggled for a long time before finally being able to lift his hand and flip the middle finger at 666. “You haven’t said why I woke up looking half-dead like this. Am I hemiplegic?”
666 explained that once Ji Xiangmian left, these small worlds were supposed to continue developing on their own, and the protagonist would find his destined other half. But because these worlds all collapsed, during the time Ji Xiangmian was away, the flow of time underwent some subtle changes.
666 pulled up the revised plotline and burst out laughing. “Not long after you dumped Gu Yang, you were hit by a car while out shopping. You’ve been paralyzed in bed for three years now. To be precise, you were in a vegetative state.”
666 marveled: “Gu Yang is truly a good person. He actually took you home to nurse you instead of sending you straight to the crematorium.”
Ji Xiangmian: “…”
He looked up at the ceiling and felt the soft, large bed beneath him. “Only three years? Did Gu Yang win the lottery? He’s so rich now.”
666 huffed, its tone a bit proud: “The male leads hand-picked by the Quick Transmigration Department are naturally one-in-a-million talents. This entire family estate was built by Gu Yang from scratch.”
Ji Xiangmian raised an eyebrow: “So who’s richer now, him or the rich heir?”
666 made a comparison: “It should still be the rich heir. After all, Gu Yang has no foundation. But according to the current development, it’s only a matter of time before he surpasses the rich heir.”
Ji Xiangmian curved his lips: “Fine, then let me be the person who stays by Gu Yang’s side and struggles along with him.”
666 felt a chill of disgust: “Where is your shame?”
Ji Xiangmian tsked: “What do you know? Without my ‘encouragement,’ could Gu Yang have grown this quickly? My methods were just a tiny bit extreme, haven’t I come back to compensate him?”
666 was unusually silent: “Then, I wish you success.”
Ji Xiangmian: “…”
“Don’t be like that, I’m scared.”
666: “Hee-hee, scare you to death.”
“But are you sure that pretending to have amnesia will make him wipe the slate clean for everything you did before?”
Ji Xiangmian twisted his wrist to loosen it: “How could that be possible? It’s just a stalling tactic.”
Guys, who can understand? The moment he opened his eyes and saw Gu Yang that angry, he was truly afraid Gu Yang would just give him a punch with a fist the size of a casserole. He’d probably be punched straight back to the Quick Transmigration Department.
But since he had already started pretending, he naturally had to use this opportunity to get things done. At the very least, he had to defuse this bomb that had been ticking for three years.
By the time both of Ji Xiangmian’s arms could move, about half an hour had passed. The door was opened once again, and Gu Yang walked in with a dark expression. Following behind him was a small medical team of about seven or eight people, carrying instruments whose names Ji Xiangmian couldn’t recognize.
Gu Yang’s gaze fell on him and then quickly shifted away, though the expression on his face turned even more foul. “Check him over.”
With those four simple words, the medical team sprang into action, surrounding Ji Xiangmian in an instant. Ji Xiangmian first knit his brows, gave a weak struggle, and then his gaze unconsciously drifted toward Gu Yang. His eyes were so clear you could see to the bottom, filled with a silent plea for help.
Gu Yang’s throat bobbed, his gaze momentarily dazed. The person he had waited three years for had suddenly woken up, yet seemed not to recognize him. It all happened too suddenly, giving him a sense of unreality.
However, that look just now made him feel as if those three dead, silent years hadn’t happened. It felt like Ji Xiangmian had just woken up from a nap and was clingily reaching out his hands for a hug.
“Ugh…”
Ji Xiangmian let out a soft cry of surprise, and Gu Yang’s brow instantly furrowed.
