Forced into a Secret Marriage with the Villain, We Now Have a Child - Chapter 8
After Zhu Feifei left, Jian Chun still hadn’t fully processed the news.
Yu Siyi was a star? How could she be a star?
According to the plot of the book, shouldn’t Yu Siyi be inheriting the family business and repeatedly causing trouble on the heroine’s path to success, eventually becoming a mere stepping stone?
Jian Chun was so distracted she barely tasted her food. Niannian sat on the sofa watching cartoons, and though Jian Chun wanted to ask her something, she kept her mouth shut. If she could transmigrate several years into the future, then it was certainly possible for Yu Siyi to become a celebrity.
She sat cross-legged on the sofa, a blanket covering both her and Niannian’s legs. Her phone screen glowed with the Wiki page she was now studying much more closely.
Yu Siyi had debuted seven years ago. Right after the college entrance exam, she was scouted and entered the entertainment industry. Starting with minor roles, her career had steadily ascended. Last year, she won the Best Actress award for a TV drama, and her value skyrocketed. She had recently taken on a major IP drama, acting alongside the international superstar Rong Zhen.
Jian Chun didn’t even have to search hard; news about Yu Siyi’s latest schedule was everywhere.
#Yu Beauty and Rong Zhen’s Sweet Interaction at the Airport: Real Love?# #Interview with the Cast of “Zhuang Yun Lu” in City A# #Airport Photos of Yu Beauty#
The face in the photos was undeniably the one Jian Chun knew so well. Jian Chun stared blankly at this unfamiliar world. She opened Weibo and gasped.
Good grief. Yu Siyi had thirty million followers.
Jian Chun wasn’t sure what “thirty million” meant in this era, but looking at the active reposts, comments, and likes, she knew Yu Siyi’s popularity was no joke. Just as she clicked in, a new post appeared with a photo of Yu Siyi. The comments section was buzzing:
“Beauty is back to work! She’s so pretty today~” “I went to the airport to see her today; she was wearing too little.” “Jealous of those who could go to the airport.” “Take care of yourself, Beauty~”
In just a few minutes, thousands of comments flooded in. The photo was a candid shot at the airport. Yu Siyi was wearing a down jacket, but it didn’t look bulky; instead, it made her legs look long and slender. Her hair was loose, she had a slight smile, and she had taken off her sunglasses to interact with fans.
Jian Chun stared at the photo, trying to find a flaw. However, after living with her for a few days, she knew the real Yu Siyi was much better looking than the one in the photo! Her face wasn’t that round, her waist was thinner, and her legs were longer!
How is she so unphotogenic? Why didn’t the editors retouch this before posting?! Jian Chun shook the “fan-girl” thoughts out of her head. She scrolled through Weibo until she knew Yu Siyi’s work schedule by heart and learned that her fans were called “Hua Fen” (Flower Powder/Pollen).
Just then, a warm, soft voice spoke beside her: “Mama, do you want to watch the TV dramas Mother acted in?”
Jian Chun turned to find Niannian leaning against her, watching her scroll through Weibo. Niannian didn’t know many characters yet, but she clearly recognized her mother’s face. Jian Chun felt a flush of embarrassment, like she’d been caught doing something she shouldn’t.
“Niannian, do you want to watch them?” she asked casually.
Niannian nodded eagerly, then suddenly shook her head. “Mother said I can’t watch them.”
Yu Siyi is a very responsible parent, Jian Chun thought. She asked, “Niannian, do you know your mother is a very famous star?”
Niannian nodded. “I know~ But Mother told me not to tell anyone, otherwise people will come to steal her away.” The little girl furrowed her brow with a mix of pride and worry.
Jian Chun squeezed Niannian’s chubby cheek. Looking at the fan comments, she realized that if the world knew Yu Siyi had a child, the entertainment industry would probably implode.
What if I announced that Yu Siyi is married? she thought mischievously.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Yu Siyi.
“Mama has to take this call. Play by yourself,” Jian Chun said, setting Niannian down. She hurried upstairs. Her heart was beating ridiculously fast—likely because she had just been thinking about her.
She calmed her breathing, but the vibration stopped before she could answer. Jian Chun’s heart sank. She stared at the screen, wanting to curse. She sat at her desk and opened her textbooks, her head starting to ache again.
In her past life, she hadn’t been a “good student.” She was lonely and hostile toward teachers because of their prejudices. She had been prepared to work immediately after high school. She never imagined she’d be a teacher one day. To someone like her, the position of a teacher was sacred. She didn’t want to fail.
As she was studying a diagram, her phone buzzed on the desk. She answered with a calm, “Hello, what’s up?”
Yu Siyi’s voice held a faint smile. “What are you doing?”
“Reading. What else?”
Yu Siyi’s voice was lazy and rich, like fine wine. “Chun-bao, you’re so hardworking. I find I like you even more now.”
Jian Chun looked at the formulas she didn’t understand. Hard work is useless! “If you have something to say, say it. Otherwise, I’m hanging up.”
“I miss you,” Yu Siyi said.
Jian Chun rubbed her ear. She finally realized why Yu Siyi was so good at flirting—she was an actress! She put the phone on speaker and moved it away.
“Do you know how to do the problems? Want me to teach you?” Yu Siyi asked.
“Don’t you have work?” Jian Chun asked coldly, though she felt a bit aggrieved.
“It’s break time. I start work again at 3:00.”
Jian Chun decided not to let the resource go to waste. “Fine. Start a video call.”
“Chun-bao, you know my value. You have to pay a deposit first~”
“Don’t even think about it,” Jian Chun snapped.
Yu Siyi laughed, a sound that would enchant millions of fans. Jian Chun, however, found it “cloying.” Her eyes drifted to a photo on her desk—a picture of the two of them. In the soft light, Jian Chun was leaning her head toward Yu Siyi, their lips nearly touching.
Jian Chun gasped and knocked the frame over.
“What happened?” Yu Siyi asked.
Jian Chun pressed her cold hands to her burning cheeks. “Why did you become a star?”
The line went silent. Jian Chun stared at the phone, confused. Did I say something wrong?
Finally, a soft sigh came from the speaker. “Many years ago, you suddenly told me I was suited to be a star.”
Jian Chun was stunned. Me? No, it was the ‘previous’ me. But… just because I said so, she abandoned the plot?!
Yu Siyi chuckled. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Jian Chun murmured. How was she supposed to respond? Ask why she wasn’t following the “villain” script?
After two days of cramming, Jian Chun went to the school for registration. It was Monday morning. She had been assigned to Class 1-10.
When she reached the classroom, a girl was already there. She looked at Jian Chun, stunned by her beauty and elegant aura.
“Are you Teacher Jian Chun?” the girl asked.
“Yes. I’m taking over as your homeroom and physics teacher. What’s your name?”
“Shi Huiling. I’m the discipline monitor.”
Jian Chun saw that the classroom was spotless. She felt a sense of being respected. “Did you bring all your homework? Help me record the names later.”
By 9:00 AM, students began arriving. Some were diligent; others tried to avoid handing in homework. Jian Chun followed her notes, making sure everyone was accounted for. Some students stayed to help clean, and Jian Chun chatted with them to get to know their faces.
“Teacher Jian, how many years have you been teaching? You look about our age.”
“Why do you teach physics? It’s so hard. I’ve never had a female physics teacher before.”
Jian Chun smiled, her anxiety fading. She didn’t know how to answer why she taught physics, though.
As she was thinking of a way to guide them, a student asked: “Teacher Jian, are you a fan too? Are you also a ‘Hua Fen’?”
Hua Fen? Jian Chun froze. Yu Siyi’s fans?
“Yeah, I’ve wanted to ask,” another student chimed in. “Teacher Jian, do you like Yu Beauty too?”
“Teacher Jian likes Yu Beauty?! Oh my god, I have the same idol as my teacher!”
Jian Chun’s smile froze on her face. How do they know I like Yu Siyi? Wait—why do they think I like Yu Siyi?
