- Chapter 54.3 - Marked and Adored
Yu Siyi’s “confession” wasn’t just a revelation; it was a way of marking her territory. And right now, Yi Xueyang’s adoration for her was at an all-time high.
Although Yu Siyi still maintained a smile, Jian Chun could tell it had shifted into her professional, “official” composure.
Yu Siyi glanced at Jian Chun. “She’s a fan of mine, isn’t she?”
“I thought you knew,” Jian Chun replied.
“You never told me,” Yu Siyi said softly.
“Exactly! Jian Chun, you never told me!!!” Yi Xueyang wailed, her emotions finally spiraling out of control. “You actually have this kind of relationship with my Goddess!!”
Jian Chun watched as Yi Xueyang’s composure completely disintegrated. She wanted to help her friend pull it together, but she felt a bit dejected. There was no bringing her back from this.
“It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you,” Jian Chun sighed. “But look at yourself right now.”
Yi Xueyang tried to restrain herself, but she couldn’t. She was just an ordinary person; meeting the Principal felt like the peak of her life. When she had first suspected Jian Chun might be married into a wealthy family, she hadn’t said anything, but it had taken her days to calm down. She had even deliberately adjusted how she interacted with Jian Chun to accommodate the new reality.
And now? The situation hadn’t just upgraded; it had blasted through the roof.
Jian Chun watched Yi Xueyang sink into a stunned silence. She tried to empathize. If she were to suddenly meet a world leader—since she didn’t really have idols—she’d probably be just as overwhelmed.
Suddenly, Yi Xueyang let out a sharp, almost tragic laugh. “My Goddess…”
On screen, she was a distant star; in person, she was even more radiant, yet somehow grounded. Yi Xueyang covered her face and began to dab at her eyes with a tissue.
Jian Chun hadn’t expected her to be this moved. But then she imagined herself having an intimate chat with a high-level official—she’d probably be bawling her eyes out too.
Thinking of it that way, Jian Chun felt better. She glanced at Yu Siyi. Tch. Someone like her really shouldn’t step down from her pedestal; look at what she’s done to this poor fan girl.
Yi Xueyang didn’t cry for long because Owner Lin arrived with the food.
Seeing Yu Siyi, Owner Lin gave her a warm, familiar greeting. He wanted to chat, but the shop was too busy. “Little Yu, you have to come back again soon!” he said regretfully before scurrying back to the kitchen.
Yu Siyi waved back. Having watched her grow up and become famous, the shop owner didn’t treat her with much awe; to him, she was just a familiar face
The meal was a symphony of colors and aromas. Niannian sat between her two mothers, each of them vying to pile her plate with food. A small mountain of meat and vegetables—black, green, and white—grew in her bowl.
Niannian accepted it all. She used her chopsticks to take a bite of greens, then a mouthful of rice, her small cheeks bulging like a hamster stuffing itself for winter.
Yi Xueyang ate heartily as well, though her eyes now shone with a predatory glint every time she looked at Niannian.
This is Yu Siyi’s daughter! I’ve actually HELD Yu Siyi’s daughter!
Since the Goddess was willing to share such a massive secret with her, Yi Xueyang vowed to take it to her grave. But… she couldn’t help but wonder: Would anyone notice if I accidentally made off with Niannian?
