Forced into a Secret Marriage with the Villain, We Now Have a Child - Chapter 40.1
The first period was Language Arts. Jian Chun set down her bag and took out her cup, preparing to rinse it and steep some tea. She kept two cups in her office: a thermos that she carried with her constantly, and a glass cup for the convenience of drinking while at her desk.
As the rose petals touched the hot water, they slowly unfurled, tinting the water a delicate hue within moments.
She had already finished grading the homework, but on her personal timeline, a significant amount of time had passed. She took the opportunity to review the students’ progress once more, making note of those who had made frequent mistakes so she could pay them closer attention.
She also had to re-memorize her lesson plans. However, thanks to her recent “intensive review” in the past, she found that her understanding had deepened, making the material far easier to grasp. Jian Chun spent some time memorizing, running through the concepts in her mind with newfound clarity while keeping a close eye on the clock.
As the clock on the wall ticked away, her mind began to wander.
A thought occurred to her: if the past she returned to was real, would she go back again? And if she did, would the timeline she faced be the exact day she left? Jian Chun couldn’t help but press a hand to her forehead.
Isn’t this all a bit too difficult?
Who knew when she might be pulled back, and what was she supposed to do about the practice exams she had left behind? At the thought, a wave of self-pity washed over her.
On the bright side, she technically had more time to study now. She considered looking for her old revision materials; since she had successfully become a teacher, her younger self must have been quite a capable student.
…And if all else failed, she could always seek help from Yu Siyi.
Recalling Yu Siyi’s meticulous note-taking habits, Jian Chun felt the sudden urge to collapse onto her desk just to calm her nerves.
The Noon Meeting
Since she had no classes in the morning, Jian Chun ate an early lunch and returned to her office to wait for Jin Ziye. He arrived at half-past twelve.
“Have you eaten?” Jian Chun asked out of habit.
“Done,” Jin Ziye replied, lifting his chin with a touch of youthful arrogance. “Ten minutes flat. Fast, right?”
The door was propped open. Jian Chun gestured for him to sit and began explaining the problems in his workbook. However, Jin Ziye showed absolutely no interest in the lesson. His eyes were burning with curiosity as he stared at her.
“Teacher, you and Yu Siyi…” He gave her a pointed look, his eyes blinking as if to say, I know your secret.
Jian Chun looked up, her voice flat. “Go on. Say it.”
Taking that as a green light, Jin Ziye asked excitedly, “How… how did you and Yu Siyi end up as a couple?”
Jian Chun slammed her palm onto the desk. While her hand stung from the impact, she hissed through gritted teeth, “Jin Ziye.”
Jin Ziye looked at her, completely bewildered. “What?”
