- Forced into a Secret Marriage with the Villain, We Now Have a Child
- Chapter 35 - "Is Being Stupid Contagious?"
Life returned to its normal track. By the afternoon, the entire school was back on campus. The seniors were particularly disciplined; during evening self-study, the homeroom teacher came around to collect everyone’s phones. Of course, the students knew exactly how many phones were actually handed in.
Once the teacher left, Chemistry Teacher Ms. Zhang entered with a stack of test papers. To train their speed and accuracy, the students were given a mock Science exam—one hour to fly through multiple-choice questions.
Ms. Zhang paced the room, her thick-heeled shoes clicking softly against the floor. She paused by Jian Chun’s desk, her chubby face leaning down to watch her work. The pressure was immense. If Jian Chun were a top student, this would be a chance to show off, but as a struggling student, she just felt slow and nervous.
Before leaving, Ms. Zhang patted Jian Chun’s shoulder. Once the teacher was gone, Jian Chun finally exhaled. Success was hard-earned.
The Uniform Mystery
The next morning, the classroom was hit with a bombshell: Yu Siyi walked up to Jian Chun and handed her a school uniform.
The gossip mill instantly exploded.
“They eat together, walk together, and now they’re swapping clothes?”
“Is Yu Siyi actually this easy to talk to? Is that a clone?”
“I think Yu Siyi has been drugged. This isn’t the real her.”
“Jealousy is turning me into a demon.”
“I don’t want to be a demon, I just want to be Jian Chun.”
Jian Chun, still battling a stuffy nose, took the uniform and frowned. Her original uniform was a “fan-girl edition”—covered in her idol’s name and hand-drawn doodles. But this uniform? It was pristine. Spotless.
She trotted over to Yu Siyi’s desk, keeping a respectful two-meter distance to avoid “infecting” the genius.
“This isn’t mine,” Jian Chun said.
Yu Siyi looked down at Jian Chun’s thin fingers gripping the fabric. “It’s yours now.”
“But where is mine? The one with the name and the little cartoon character drawn on it?”
“Whose name was written on it?” Yu Siyi asked, tilting her head.
Jian Chun froze. She couldn’t actually remember which idol the “original” Jian Chun had been obsessed with. “I… I forgot.”
“It wasn’t my name,” Yu Siyi said with absolute certainty. She had inspected the jacket thoroughly. The handwriting was flashy and stylized, but it definitely didn’t say ‘Yu Siyi.’
“Of course it wasn’t!” Jian Chun laughed, but then stopped. For a split second, the air around Yu Siyi felt icy, like a storm was brewing.
Jian Chun’s brain finally kicked into gear. Wait. What persona did I build in front of her?
I told her I liked her, implying my past antics were out of love.
Now I’m acting like a “loyal follower” who accepts rejection.
But now, it’s clear I have another “beloved” written all over my clothes.
In Yu Siyi’s eyes, Jian Chun was either a player chasing multiple people at once, or her “love” was so shallow it lasted only a few days.
“Fine, if you don’t want it, I’ll take it back,” Jian Chun muttered, retreating to her seat while feeling like a thousand daggers were staring at her back.
The “A-Student” Transformation
During the morning Science classes, the results of the previous night’s test were handed out. Jian Chun had scored over 100 points across the three subjects. For her, it was a miracle.
Even Ms. Zhang praised her in front of the class. “Look at Jian Chun. A month ago, she was scoring 20 or 30. Now she’s passing. What about the rest of you?”
The class was stunned. They couldn’t believe the strict Ms. Zhang was now Jian Chun’s biggest fan. They attributed it all to Yu Siyi’s “blessing.” It was as if being tutored by her was like being “consecrated” by a Buddha.
Medicine and WeChat
By lunch, Jian Chun was a mess. Her nose was red, and she had gone through a whole bag of tissues. She skipped lunch to sleep, huddled under two jackets.
She was woken up by a cold touch on her hand. She looked up to see Yu Siyi standing there. On the desk were several plastic bags containing porridge, buns, and medicine.
“Is your cold still not better?” Yu Siyi asked tonelessly.
“It comes easily, but leaves slowly,” Jian Chun said nasally. “Did you buy this for me?”
“No,” Yu Siyi said immediately.
Jian Chun nodded, “Oh, Li Ying bought it then.”
“I just bought it randomly,” Yu Siyi snapped, her face darkening.
Jian Chun, brain foggy from the fever, let out a small smile. “Who is ‘Randomly’?”
Yu Siyi went silent. She couldn’t understand how Jian Chun’s “combat power” remained so high even while sick.
“From now on, you are officially my best friend,” Jian Chun said, opening the medicine. “Don’t feel pressured, you don’t have to admit it.”
“How much was it? I’ll WeChat you the money.”
“You want to add me?” A spark of light flashed in Yu Siyi’s eyes.
“Or… Alipay?”
Yu Siyi hesitated for a second, her expression returning to a cold mask. “I suppose WeChat isn’t out of the question. But what about all your other ‘ambiguous’ contacts?”
“Ambiguous contacts? I don’t have any. They’re all just friends,” Jian Chun said.
Yu Siyi’s eyes dimmed. Jian Chun noticed the shift and sighed. “Fine, forget it. I won’t force you to give me your WeChat.”
The temperature around Yu Siyi dropped even further. Jian Chun, oblivious, poured her medicine into a bottle. “How about this? I’ll just start a group chat. Scan this, and I’ll add you.”
Yu Siyi walked back to her seat empty-handed. She was now convinced: Jian Chun’s brain had never been functional.
The Summer Memory
Zhu Feifei turned to Yu Siyi, looking a bit jealous. “Why did you give her medicine? Do you really want to be friends with her?”
Yu Siyi’s lips moved, the words catching in her throat.
“What? Did I hit the nail on the head?” Zhu Feifei teased.
“No…” Yu Siyi said softly. “She helped me once.”
“Her? Help you?”
Yu Siyi touched her nose, the ice in her eyes melting into a gentle glow. “I was lost back then.”
“When? We’re always together.”
“The summer break.”
Zhu Feifei froze. She suddenly remembered a certain incident from the summer…
