Five Years of Studying Medicine, Three Years of Flirting With Guys - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Tang Linsheng took a deep breath and walked toward the nurse’s station.
“I was the one who took the blood pressure.” Standing behind the counter, he calmly interrupted the shouting of Kong Mingzhao’s son. “Your father’s physical condition was already poor. When I went in, your father was on the phone and was very emotionally agitated; that is also one of the reasons for his sudden episode.”
Kong Mingzhao’s son looked at the person in front of him, someone he could easily lift like a little chick. His interrupted swearing shifted direction and blasted straight at Tang Linsheng: “My dad was full of energy when he talked to me! You must have gotten into an argument with him while taking his blood pressure! Otherwise, why would my dad need emergency resuscitation!”
Although Tang Linsheng trembled at the roar complaining in his head while shivering inside he forced himself to stay calm on the surface and said: “You can go to the ward and gather evidence from other patients. I never argued with your father, not even a bit.”
Hearing this, Kong Mingzhao’s son pointed his index finger directly at Tang Linsheng and said viciously: “You still dare to argue?! My dad is being resuscitated because of what you did! You f***I still dare to argue!” As he spoke, he raised his hand to hit him!
Tang Linsheng had never seen such a scene before. He hadn’t expected a patient’s family member to be so incapable of listening to reason; he froze in place with fear. Seeing the man’s fist about to smash into him, he quickly closed his eyes.
The whistling sound of the fist seemed to be right by his ear, but the expected pain did not appear on his face. He quietly opened one eye and found the fist stopped right in front of him. Opening his other eye, he finally saw clearly that the man’s hand had been grabbed by Tang Linsheng (the Professor).
“Se… Senior…” he called out in a low voice, immediately taking a step back once he regained his senses. His heart was still thumping wildly with lingering fear; he almost thought he was about to experience his first medical dispute!
“Who are you!” Kong Mingzhao’s son roared at Professor Tang without hesitation.
The strength in Professor Tang’s hand did not diminish as he held the stalemate, slowly forcing the other’s hand down. His expression remained gentle, as if he weren’t exerting any effort at all: “Tang Linsheng, Deputy Director of Cardiology, and the lead surgeon for your father’s upcoming operation.”
The man heard this and looked at him closely. His hand had been pulled down by Tang Linsheng, and it even felt a bit painful. He tilted his chin up at Professor Tang and said, “Let go of me. Where is my dad?”
“Excuse me,” Professor Tang released his arm and said, “Your father is in the catheterization lab. I have relevant documents here that need your signature.”
“My dad isn’t doing the surgery!”
Hearing this, the smile on Professor Tang’s face remained unchanged: “Then come to the office first, and I will explain the situation to you.”
“Then let this nurse come with me too…” He turned his head, wanting to call Nurse Tang over to confront him and clear things up, but to his surprise, Tang Linsheng’s figure was no longer at the nurse’s station. “Where is that male nurse! Get the hell out here! Come over here with me!”
But no matter how he shouted and cursed, no nurse at the station paid him any attention. Professor Tang politely urged him a few more times, and only then did he reluctantly follow Professor Tang to the Director’s office.

Just as Tang Linsheng had stepped back, he was pulled into the treatment room by someone who then shut the door.
He looked in bewilderment at Teacher Wang Fang: “Teacher Wang?”
Teacher Wang looked displeased and said, “What were you doing rushing to the front just now?!”
“After all, I was the fuse…” He couldn’t let the other nurses take the blame.
“Are you stupid?! You’re thinking so one-dimensionally! If you want to talk about the ‘fuse,’ why don’t you blame the blood pressure monitor? These crappy monitors can’t measure every blood pressure. How is a machine supposed to measure someone with an arrhythmia, huh!”
Hearing Teacher Wang’s “official” roast of the bad equipment, Tang Linsheng couldn’t help but let his lips curl up.
“Still laughing! What are you laughing at!” Teacher Wang’s originally fierce expression became somewhat helpless because of his smile: “You must realize that the most important thing at work is to protect yourself. Once something like this happens, the nurse involved doesn’t need to show their face. You just hide for me! Don’t try to be a hero!”
Tang Linsheng’s lips moved slightly, but just as he was about to say something, he was interrupted by Teacher Wang: “Stay in the treatment room for five minutes. Think about it before you come out!”
“…Okay.” Tang Linsheng watched Teacher Wang’s slightly plump figure walk out, and the door slammed shut with a pa. He thought that as a man, he felt guilty letting other teachers bear the anger of the family for him, which is why he had stepped out. However, what Teacher Wang said wasn’t without reason; given the situation just now, he almost took a punch.
Tang Linsheng suddenly thought of his Senior’s timely intervention. He couldn’t help but feel a warmth in his heart, but the warmth didn’t last long before he started worrying: What if that man hits Senior?
Once his mood had calmed down significantly, he opened the door and went out. Outside, a resident doctor was chatting happily with the nurses, the papers in his hand snapping loudly: “Look, Kong Mingzhao’s surgical consent form!”
“How did his family agree?” a nurse asked curiously. “They were so unwilling to do the surgery before, and he was so fierce just now.”
The resident doctor said with a face full of admiration: “I don’t know about that. All I know is that after the family went into the Director’s office, he came out after a short while with the signature ready and went to the catheterization lab to wait for his dad! Normally, in this kind of situation, Director Gao would have to step in. I didn’t expect Director Tang to be even faster and more efficient than Director Gao!”
“That’s why they say he’s an expert hired from the US! His expertise isn’t just in academics and research.”
Seeing the matter resolved, Tang Linsheng felt a sigh of relief. Fortunately, his worries were unnecessary!
When Tang Linsheng finished his shift and handed over his duties, he heard that Professor Tang was still in the catheterization lab performing surgery. During the angiography that morning, it was discovered that multiple coronary arteries were blocked, and stents had to be placed. During the stenting, critical situations like ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest occurred, causing the entire surgery to last a long time. Fortunately, Professor Tang’s surgical skills were exquisite. After the first cardiac arrest was successfully managed, the stenting went smoothly, with four stents placed in a row.
While changing in the locker room, he could hear the doctors who assisted in the surgery sighing about how dangerous the situation was and how incredible Professor Tang was.
Tang Linsheng’s busy and tiring day was swept away. He thought happily to himself: Of course, look at which man I’ve set my sights on!
He hoped Senior could get off work and rest soon.
He returned home in a good mood. To Mother Tang, her son looked like he was basking in a spring breeze, beaming with joy. The invisible little tail behind him was sticking straight up, nearly poking through the ceiling of their small restaurant!
Mother Tang: “What, the department wasn’t busy today?”
“Busy, and I ran into a troublemaking family member!” Tang Linsheng happily opened a bottle of yogurt. With one sip, a white layer of milk stain was left above his upper lip.
“Look at you, such a grown man!” Seeing this, Mother Tang couldn’t help but start nagging, only to see her son quickly stick out his tongue to lick it clean. He gave her a cute smile, revealing a row of bright white teeth.
Mother Tang couldn’t help but pinch her son’s face and said, “That means there’s progress in your pursuit.”
Tang Linsheng’s face, already a bit red from being pinched, turned even redder: “No, there isn’t. I haven’t even started pursuing it yet!”
“Haven’t started yet?” Father Tang, who had just come out carrying a dish, heard this. He quickly placed the dish for a customer and ran over to urge his son to speed up his actions!
Hearing this, Mother Tang immediately joined the camp, even wanting to take his phone to see how the two of them were chatting why hadn’t her son launched an offensive yet! It was rare for Linlin to want to pursue a girl; you can’t miss this opportunity!
Seeing his mother trying to grab his phone, Tang Linsheng quickly covered his pocket: “No, no!” There wasn’t actually a girl he liked, so how could he let them see!
Seeing their son’s determined attitude in hiding the other party’s identity, Father and Mother Tang didn’t push further. They just emphasized that he must work hard and start the pursuit quickly!
Only after his parents left did Tang Linsheng dare to take out his phone. He quickly opened WeChat and set a new nickname for his Senior: Future Partner Big Tangtang.
Father and Mother Tang poked their heads out from the kitchen and smiled at each other: Look at the silly way that brat is smiling!
