- Chapter 8.2 - Romantic Candlelight Dinner
Too beautiful. The lingering rays of the sunset seemed to over-indulge them; the orange-pink clouds seemed created for them. Their features became more profound and charming in the fading light, and their exposed skin was like silk under the lights, shimmering with a faint glow.
Shen Huaixu ignored the gazes of the crowd, leading her girlfriend—who was a bit excited about being at a terrace restaurant for the first time—across the deck to their corner spot.
Fragrance, candles, and roses as red as fire.
The three most romantic items in the world were placed before Gu Yinghuai.
Gu Yinghuai looked up, pleasantly surprised, at Shen Huaixu. “When did you prepare this?”
“Right when you said you didn’t have to work overtime.” Shen Huaixu pulled out a chair and helped Gu Yinghuai sit. She sat opposite her, the candlelight and the lights from the other side of the river reflecting in her silver-gray eyes like a burning fire.
“Do you like it?” she asked.
Gu Yinghuai held the bouquet of roses, lightly sniffing their scent, and then gave Shen Huaixu a smile that seemed dipped in honey. “I love it. I’m so happy.”
Shen Huaixu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Everything had been prepared in such a rush today. On the way here, she had been worried the restaurant staff wouldn’t have time to prepare and would ruin everything. Fortunately, it all went smoothly.
Shen Huaixu tasted the unique flavor of a Tequila Sunrise. Her body, tired from a long day, gradually relaxed amidst the alcohol and the soothing melodies of the folk songs.
She wasn’t admiring the river view; her eyes were fixed tenderly on the slightly tipsy Gu Yinghuai across from her.
Gu Yinghuai had a very low tolerance for alcohol. Just a few glasses of beer could make her brain sluggish and her limbs limp and uncooperative.
Tonight’s Gin and Tonic tasted better than those at other bars. The person with low tolerance and no self-awareness drank two glasses in a row. Her cheeks turned pink as she leaned against the railing, watching the bustling river.
“Axu, do you think we can see our house from here?” Gu Yinghuai foolishly searched for familiar landmarks near their home, trying to locate their apartment complex.
Shen Huaixu was amused by her cute and serious expression. She followed Gu Yinghuai’s gaze toward the other side of the river, searching for their home among the skyscrapers.
“Ah, found it,” Shen Huaixu teased.
Gu Yinghuai fell for it instantly. She looked around excitedly. “Where? Why can’t I see it?”
“Right there. See it? Behind that brightly lit skyscraper.”
“None of the buildings here are dark!”
“To the left. Look, a whole floor of lights just went out.”
“I don’t see it…”
Why couldn’t she find her home? Gu Yinghuai was disappointed. Was her house mad at her? Otherwise, why could only Axu see it?
It wasn’t until she heard Shen Huaixu’s uncontrollable laughter from across the table that Gu Yinghuai realized she had been tricked by her lover.
“You! You lied to me!” Gu Yinghuai said huffily. Her charming almond eyes glared at Shen Huaixu with what she thought was ferocity, but she actually looked like a tricked kitten—round eyes full of disappointment in her owner.
“Sorry, but tipsy Huai is just too cute. I couldn’t help but want to tease you.” Shen Huaixu looked directly into Gu Yinghuai’s eyes. Her usually indifferent silver-gray eyes were overflowing with tenderness and love. Gu Yinghuai stared blankly, her own eyes feeling scorched by the bluntness of that affection.
Gu Yinghuai looked away unnaturally, her already pink cheeks flushing deeper. Her fair earlobes turned so red they looked like they might bleed under Shen Huaixu’s unwavering gaze.
“Hmph, since you apologized, I’ll reluctantly forgive you,” Gu Yinghuai whispered.
Shen Huaixu could no longer hold back. She leaned forward slightly, cupped the back of Gu Yinghuai’s neck, and kissed her fiercely.
The taste of Gin and Tonic spread between their entwined tongues. This time, Shen Huaixu kissed more forcefully than ever before. She seemed to want to consume the soft person in front of her—the person who relied on her with her whole heart. That way, no one could ever separate them, and she could possess Gu Yinghuai completely.
The busker sang a lingering love song with bold, passionate lyrics that made one’s skin tingle.
Shen Huaixu deepened the kiss. She felt the pulse beating under her palm—thump, thump—striking against her own heart.
Gu Yinghuai didn’t know when the kiss ended. By the time she regained her senses, she was already in a taxi home with Shen Huaixu. Shen Huaixu was holding her waist, letting her rest against her shoulder.
“Awake?” Shen Huaixu whispered in Gu Yinghuai’s ear.
Her warm breath fanned Gu Yinghuai’s sensitive earlobe. Gu Yinghuai felt like she was about to melt in this embrace and merge into one with Shen Huaixu.
“Mmh…” she whispered. “Where are we?”
Shen Huaixu stroked Gu Yinghuai’s warm, tipsy cheek. “We’ll be there at the next intersection.”
Now even Gu Yinghuai’s cheeks felt tingly. She didn’t speak, quietly leaning in Shen Huaixu’s arms, listening to her restless heartbeat.
Ha, someone looks calm on the surface, but is actually secretly nervous~ Gu Yinghuai thought happily. It turned out she wasn’t the only one feeling nervous.
The taxi stopped at the entrance of the complex.
Shen Huaixu picked up the limp Gu Yinghuai and walked toward their building. Gu Yinghuai was startled by the sudden bridal carry; her arms instinctively hooked around Shen Huaixu’s neck, one hand bracing against her shoulder.
“I… I can walk on my own.” Gu Yinghuai didn’t need a mirror to know her face was unbelievably red. She tried to struggle down to the ground but was warned to stay still by a pinch on her rear.
After that, Gu Yinghuai didn’t dare move again. She buried her face in Shen Huaixu’s chest, pretending to be an ostrich in hiding.
Shen Huaixu laughed softly and kissed the top of the “little ostrich’s” head, carrying her back to their warm, cute home.
The house was pitch black. Shen Huaixu closed the door and, without even turning on the entryway light, pressed the person in her arms against the door for a kiss.
The darkness stripped away their sight, making their other senses more sensitive.
The alcohol had numbed Gu Yinghuai’s nerves. She dizzily accepted Shen Huaixu’s dense kisses. Their bodies, having molded together over many years, needed no words; she obediently pressed closer, offering her body, ready to receive love.
Shen Huaixu was pleased by Gu Yinghuai’s compliance. Her fierce kiss softened. Her tongue traced the soft lines of Gu Yinghuai’s lips, occasionally licking the sensitive roof of her mouth, making the person in her arms tremble slightly.
Neither was willing to pull away. Their breaths mingled as they chased each other’s tongues.
A few pieces of warm clothing soon littered the floor.
In the dark, the two of them stumbled across the living room. Soft moans echoed all the way to the bedroom, and their naked bodies fell into the soft mattress.
Bright car headlights from outside shone on the embroidered curtains. A momentary flash of light passed through the fabric, illuminating the messy bed in the room.
Shen Huaixu propped herself up on her arms. Pale blue veins traced like webs across her toned arms. Her sweat-dampened long hair hung down both sides of her face, curling into black rings on the light-colored sheets.
A slender, fair leg aimlessly brushed against Shen Huaixu’s calf—kitten-like, sending a tingling sensation through her.
As Shen Huaixu’s exploration became bolder, crystal-like tears trembled at the roots of Gu Yinghuai’s thick black lashes before rolling down from the corners of her eyes, looking quite pitiful.
Shen Huaixu lowered her head, tenderly kissing Gu Yinghuai’s wet eyes, taking away the precarious tears.
The toes brushing against her calf curled up. Shen Huaixu chuckled. Her pale lips kissed Gu Yinghuai’s reddened ones, hooking that tongue that had been sucked until it was red and swollen. Gu Yinghuai opened her mouth, making it easy for the “wicked” person on top of her to rampage inside.
Her obedience earned a tender caress from Shen Huaixu.
The temperature in the room gradually rose. Every breath was scorching hot. They wanted to touch, yet feared being burned by the incredible heat.
Shen Huaixu was the first to touch the flame.
Warm, moist—like a marshmallow drizzled in syrup.
Once tasted, it was an instant addiction.
Shen Huaixu allowed herself to drown in the syrup.
The night was alluring and long.
The lights outside had long since stopped flashing. The bedroom was very quiet—so quiet that only the rhythmic, sweet-scented breathing of Shen Huaixu and Gu Yinghuai remained.
The person in her arms was exhausted and unwilling to even open her eyes. Shen Huaixu leaned down to kiss the corner of her eye, then picked Gu Yinghuai up and walked into the bathroom.
The door closed softly.
Before long, the sound of running water and soft moans rose from behind the door.
…
The room fell into complete silence.
The bedside nightlight emitted a faint glow. Two fuzzy heads were pressed together, the duvet covering the lower half of their faces, revealing only their closed eyes.
Shen Huaixu slept very deeply.
She had been busy all day and had spent the night fooling around with Gu Yinghuai. Her brain, clouded by alcohol, was heavy. As soon as her head hit the pillow, she was pulled into a deep sleep by a surge of drowsiness.
After she fell asleep, in the quiet room, amidst the darkness, a pair of silver-gray eyes slowly opened.
“Shen Huaixu” was originally very happy to be awake again, but her joy ended when she saw the hickeys scattered all over Gu Yinghuai’s body.
Dammit! “Shen Huaixu” couldn’t help but curse.
Sooner or later, she was going to kill Shen Huaixu.
