Fighting For My Wife With Myself After Being Reborn - Chapter 28
“Wow, how sweet—couple’s nails!” The next morning, as soon as Gu Yinghuai sat down at her workstation, Jian Yulan leaned over with a mischievous grin, pointing at her manicure to tease her.
Gu Yinghuai followed her gaze down to her own nails and instantly understood what she meant.
After they had finished painting their nails last night, Shen Huaixu had taken a photo of their hands and posted it on Weibo.
Ever since Shen Huaixu announced her relationship, her Weibo had become much livelier than before, feeling far more like a real person’s account. At the very least, her homepage was no longer just a pile of advertisements or reposts; it was now filled with posts flaunting her affection.
Sometimes it was a glimpse of a pair of fair, slender hands across the dining table, or cute matching items leaning against each other. Occasionally, Shen Huaixu’s own face would appear, but no matter how much she showed off her love, she never exposed Gu Yinghuai’s appearance.
Jian Yulan happened to scroll past that Weibo post before bed, and the moment she started work today, she came over to poke fun at Gu Yinghuai, feeling quite satisfied at the sight of Gu Yinghuai’s shy little expression.
“As expected, the nourishment of love makes a person look younger and more beautiful earlier in the day,” Jian Yulan remarked, stroking Gu Yinghuai’s face, which seemed to grow more delicate by the year.
Gu Yinghuai dodged her “claws” and indignantly told her to go back to her own desk and work.
“Someone’s getting embarrassed and angry!” Jian Yulan chattered away as she strolled back to her station.
Gu Yinghuai covered her face, her ten fingers with their fresh polish feeling slightly warm.
She barely made it through the morning. During lunch break, when the three of them sat in the conference room sharing their meal, Gu Yinghuai was caught again by Jian Yulan and Chen Miao for another round of teasing, making her so embarrassed she almost couldn’t finish her food.
“Alright, that’s enough! It’s just nail polish, what’s the big deal!” Gu Yinghuai was truly defeated by the two of them.
Chen Miao stole a honey-glazed chicken wing from Gu Yinghuai’s “loving wife bento” and said, “Work is boring, after all. We need something to spice up the mood.”
On the other side, Jian Yulan was eyeing the tamagoyaki in the bento. She carefully picked up a piece and said to Gu Yinghuai, “It’s your fault for reacting so cutely, Yinghuai. Reflect on yourself! If you don’t want us to bully you, don’t give us reactions that make us even more excited.”
Gu Yinghuai: This is absolutely backward logic.
“I’m ignoring you both,” she sighed, resting her forehead in her hand, deciding to focus on eating.
“That’s exactly it!” Jian Yulan and Chen Miao pointed at her simultaneously. “See? She’s gone soft again.”
“It’s a good thing it’s us. If it were anyone else, you’d be bullied mercilessly, Yinghuai. Mommy is so worried,” Jian Yulan faked a sob, wiping her eyes, while Chen Miao joined in with fake tears and frequent nods. “Yes, yes, so true.”
Two absolute jokers. Gu Yinghuai rolled her eyes at them and continued eating.
“Alright, alright, let’s eat. Yinghuai, eat more; I feel like you’ve gotten thinner lately.” Seeing that she’d had enough, Jian Yulan and Chen Miao stopped teasing her. If they went any further, Yinghuai might actually get genuinely upset with them.
“Hey, leave a chicken wing for me! I haven’t tried it yet!” Jian Yulan shouted at Chen Miao, who was about to snatch another one. “I’ll trade you my roast goose, leave the wing!”
Chen Miao stuck out her tongue and stopped her chopsticks.
The lunch ended in a lively atmosphere. The afternoon work was relatively light, and Gu Yinghuai took the time now and then to chat with Shen Huaixu.
The two tacitly avoided mentioning the morning’s events, chatting instead about mundane, everyday things. Despite the simplicity, neither wanted to stop; green and white bubbles flowed back and forth in the chat box all day.
As quitting time arrived, Gu Yinghuai couldn’t wait to grab her small backpack and leave the office. “Yulan, Miao Miao, I’m heading out first! See you tomorrow~”
“See you tomorrow, you sweet little thing,” Chen Miao and Jian Yulan waved goodbye as they packed their things to head home as well.
Gu Yinghuai made a face at them and skipped out of the office.
By the time she reached the ground floor, Shen Huaixu had already been waiting for her at the entrance for quite a while.
The moment Shen Huaixu saw Gu Yinghuai emerge, she immediately rolled down the car window and waved. “I’ve prepared your favorite dishes for tonight. Let’s go.”
“Yay! Is there cake? I’ve been craving strawberry cake~” Gu Yinghuai had mentioned strawberry cake offhandedly during their chat near the end of the shift. She hadn’t even wanted it that much at first, but mentioning it had given her a sudden, stubborn urge to have it.
“Take a guess?”
“I guess yes, right?”
“No prize for guessing correctly.”
Shen Huaixu smiled and stepped on the gas. The black SUV sped away from the office building like a dark phantom.
Once they got home, the dining table was covered with a loving dinner Shen Huaixu had prepared specifically for her. Gu Yinghuai discovered the strawberry cake in the fridge, and next to it were her new favorites: sea salt cream puffs and a chocolate Basque cheesecake.
No prize for guessing right, but there is strawberry cake to eat, Gu Yinghuai thought with secret joy.
She pulled two bottles of cold beer from the fridge and shook them toward Shen Huaixu. “A little drink?”
“Sure. It’s been a while since I’ve had a drink with you, Huai,” Shen Huaixu agreed with a smile.
As the night deepened, what started as “a little drink” escalated. Shen Huaixu eventually brought out a bottle of vintage red wine, and one glass followed another.
“I… I want more…” With a flushed face, Gu Yinghuai muttered under her breath. Her fair hands felt around the table, but she couldn’t seem to find the wine glass that was right in front of her.
Shen Huaixu sat across from her, resting her chin on one hand. She didn’t speak, nor did she help Gu Yinghuai reach the glass that was less than ten centimeters from her hand.
She was thinking—or rather, she was dwelling.
She dwelt on why Gu Yinghuai was helping her other personality deceive her.
No, no, that wasn’t right.
Given how innocent her Huai was, it must have been the other personality who lured her.
After all, they were both Shen Huaixu; she knew exactly what the other was thinking. Without even a second thought, she was certain the other personality had played the victim to gain Huai’s sympathy and coax her into agreeing.
How despicable! The more Shen Huaixu thought about it, the angrier she got. If she couldn’t beat herself up, she would have laid a hand on her by now.
“Axu…” Gu Yinghuai slumped softly onto the table, murmuring quietly.
Hearing Gu Yinghuai’s soft, waxy voice, the anger in Shen Huaixu’s heart vanished instantly, replaced only by tenderness.
Forget it. Why think so much? As long as she eliminated the second personality, all her troubles would disappear.
Shen Huaixu picked Gu Yinghuai up around the waist. Feeling the familiar scent, the person in her arms immediately adjusted herself to lean more comfortably.
Seeing how Gu Yinghuai relied on her completely, Shen Huaixu gave a doting smile, brushed the hair away from her cheek, and carried her into the bedroom.
“I really am defeated by you,” a helpless sigh echoed in the living room.
The bedroom light was on. The drunken woman lay on the bed, her formal daytime shirt tossed into disarray. Her alabaster collarbones were crystalline and lovely, dotted with hints of red.
That is truly an eyesore. Shen Huaixu’s fingertips lightly brushed over the patch of skin that someone else had touched. Under the influence of alcohol, that area was even more sensitive. At just a slight touch from Shen Huaixu, Gu Yinghuai’s whole body twitched, as if she had received a massive shock.
“Who left these marks on you?” Shen Huaixu looked down at Gu Yinghuai from above, her right hand occasionally stroking her snowy skin.
Gu Yinghuai’s rationality had long been eroded by the alcohol, to say nothing of the hand constantly provoking her nerves, making it impossible for her to think.
Her charming, almond-shaped eyes were vacant. She struggled to roll her eyes, trying hard to focus on the face of the person sitting astride her.
Who… who was it…
She lifted her gaze and met a pair of deep, silver-gray eyes.
“…It’s Axu.” Gu Yinghuai raised her hand, wanting to touch those eyes.
Shen Huaixu caught her raised hand and asked, “Which Axu?”
Gu Yinghuai gave a silly smile and raised her other hand to hug Shen Huaixu’s arm, nuzzling her cheek against it. With an innocent and puzzled tone, she said, “My Axu, of course.”
Aside from her Axu, which other Axu could there be?
Shen Huaixu sighed; the evidence had increased once again.
“Since Huai says I am yours, then I’m going to start ‘eating.'” Long fingers removed the distracting clothes. The red marks on the snowy skin were exceptionally grating. Very displeased, Shen Huaixu rubbed that skin with her cold fingertips, as if trying to erase the traces completely.
The current Gu Yinghuai couldn’t comprehend what “starting to eat” meant, but she liked it when Shen Huaixu smiled at her. So, she cooperatively allowed her clothes to be removed, hoping to see that smile again.
She vaguely remembered that as long as she was good, the beautiful person in front of her would smile and do things to her that felt good.
Gu Yinghuai liked it very much.
Shen Huaixu certainly did not disappoint her.
Whether it was the smiles or the pleasurable things, she satisfied Gu Yinghuai one by one.
In some strange fit of rivalry, her pale, thin lips deliberately chose the spots where the “other” Shen Huaixu had left marks last night, kissing them and covering them up bit by bit.
“Did ‘I’ touch you here last night?” Shen Huaixu teased her wantonly, knowing full well that Gu Yinghuai wouldn’t remember what happened during her drunken state once she woke up from the hangover. “Did ‘last night’ feel better? Or is tonight a bit better?”
“Do you like this? Or did you like last night more?”
Gu Yinghuai shook her head while sobbing. She was being driven mad by the agonizingly intense pleasure, unable to answer any of Shen Huaixu’s questions.
“Is the head-shaking because it doesn’t feel good?” Shen Huaixu asked knowingly. Her long fingers pressed down firmly, causing the sobbing woman to let out a whimper as a gentle rain began to fall.
“N-no.” It felt too good.
Gu Yinghuai’s eyes lost focus, and her arms hung limply over Shen Huaixu’s shoulders. She could no longer feel the lower half of her body.
The tender petals could no longer bear the weight. They bloomed brilliantly, the pink petals staining red; with just a light touch, the entire flower trembled uncontrollably, brewing sweet nectar.
“No? Then what is it?” Shen Huaixu flicked the petals nonchalantly. The stamen quivered, becoming watery.
Tonight, Gu Yinghuai was truly bullied severely. She couldn’t even manage to sob anymore; she could only let her tears fall silently, panting heavily.
“Poor baby.” Shen Huaixu leaned down, tenderly kissing away the tears at the corners of Gu Yinghuai’s eyes. “You’ve been broken.”
Despite the words of pity, the movements of her hands never stopped.
The tears flowed even more fiercely. This was the first time Gu Yinghuai realized she had so many tears to shed.
“One more time, then we’ll go take a bath.” This time, Shen Huaixu pulled Gu Yinghuai up to sit face-to-face with her.
With her slender legs draped over her, Gu Yinghuai’s arms wrapped around Shen Huaixu’s shoulders. Her limp arms couldn’t hold on, so Shen Huaixu had to support the small of her back with one hand to keep her from sliding down.
The grip on her waist tightened. Shen Huaixu cupped the back of Gu Yinghuai’s head with one hand and exchanged a suffocatingly deep kiss with her.
When the kiss ended, Gu Yinghuai lost consciousness amidst the pleasure Shen Huaixu provided. Her head rested against Shen Huaixu’s shoulder, her body trembling slightly.
“What should I do? It seems I overdid the bullying,” Shen Huaixu muttered, seemingly in regret. She then carried the limp Gu Yinghuai to the bathroom to clean the traces off both of them.
Before going to sleep, Shen Huaixu opened the notebook she had bought today and wrote down the words she wanted to say to her other personality.
She closed the notebook, looking forward to the day the other would see it.
The other’s expression would surely be magnificent.
Shen Huaixu kissed Gu Yinghuai’s swollen eyes and, satisfied, fell into a deep sleep holding her.
