Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 3
Xu Luwei was stunned. Facing the innocent gaze of Xu Luzhi, she picked something she could say and replied, “She… doesn’t like to trouble others.”
Xu Luzhi nodded thoughtfully, then pressed relentlessly, “But aren’t she and Sister good friends?”
Good friends should be invited to stay at home, especially since their house had plenty of room.
Xu Luwei gave a wry smile. A person like Lin Qingyue, how could she have any good friends? She rubbed her sister’s hair and answered, “Mmm… not really good friends, just acquaintances.”
It was just that she had always been kind hearted and, seeing Lin Qingyue had nowhere to go, brought her back. She didn’t expect Lin Qingyue to still have such a strong temper, insisting on staying in a hotel and not wanting to trouble her at all.
Her sister’s answer greatly pleased Xu Luzhi. Realizing that their relationship wasn’t that deep, Xu Luzhi curled her lips with a bit of mischief, but then felt it was unfair to that beautiful older sister.
She looked up at Xu Luwei and asked sullenly, “Sister, are you looking down on that sister because she’s not as rich as our family, so you don’t want to be good friends with her?”
Xu Luzhi deliberately said this. She knew, of course, that Xu Luwei couldn’t be the kind of person who despised the poor and favored the rich, but if she could extract the information she wanted, she didn’t mind harmlessly twisting the facts.
“What are you saying?” Xu Luwei pursed her lips and lightly tapped her sister’s forehead, her expression becoming serious. “What did Mom and Dad say? Is making friends based on family background?”
Seeing that she had angered Xu Luwei, Xu Luzhi knew the joke had gone too far. She quickly changed tack and pleaded, sweetly holding her sister’s hand and smiling, “Oh, Sister, I was just kidding! I said the wrong thing. How could Sister be the kind of person who despises the poor and favors the rich? Sister”
After being swayed by Xu Luzhi’s arm and a round of pouting and coaxing, Xu Luwei’s anger subsided. She continued to explain calmly, “It’s not that I look down on her; it’s that she… looks down on me.”
Xu Luwei couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh as she spoke the last few words.
Lin Qingyue, with her unrestrained nature, had plenty of people who wanted to be her friend, but she looked down on everyone. It was easy for her to joke with you, or even risk her life for you, but no one could truly enter her heart.
Even herself, it was only because of her generally good reputation that Lin Qingyue looked up to her and sought her help. But even when she asked for help, the pride in her heart was clearly displayed; she wouldn’t accept charity.
Her sister’s change in expression was clearly seen by Xu Luzhi. She couldn’t quite fathom her sister’s thoughts, but instinctively, her heart tightened, and she quickly changed the subject, “Sister, I want to eat watermelon!”
Just then, there was a vendor nearby selling freshly cut watermelon, which had first been soaked in ice water, then cleaved open with a long watermelon knife. With a crisp crack, the large, red flesh was exposed.
In the scorching summer, even the night breeze was hot. The cool and refreshing watermelon, perfect in color, aroma, and taste, gave off a faint sweetness and was very appealing.
Xu Luwei went over and bought a slice for Xu Luzhi. After thinking for a moment, she bought one for herself as well, and the two sisters walked and ate.
Xu Luzhi couldn’t wait and took a bite right into the reddest and sweetest part in the center. It was icy cold and refreshing, sweet and crisp. The unrestrained sweetness of the watermelon instantly cured the pain she had been suffering from the mint candy for half the day.
Crunch, crunch a few times, and she finished her slice of watermelon cleanly. She pulled a tissue from Xu Luwei’s bag to wipe her mouth, smiling innocently at Xu Luwei.
As they reached the car, Xu Luzhi casually suggested, “Sister, tomorrow is my birthday party. Can we invite that beautiful older sister to come too? My treat.”
Xu Luwei nodded, “Okay, I’ll ask her if she’s coming.”
A child’s birthday party, though planned to be grand, was mostly a gathering of families with close ties and wasn’t as interesting as one might imagine. She wondered if someone with Lin Qingyue’s personality would be willing to come.
As soon as she got home, Xu Luzhi was forced to go to sleep.
In fact, she didn’t need to be forced; she was already past her bedtime. She hadn’t felt it outside, but she was practically asleep as soon as she got into the car. In the end, Xu Luwei had to half-drag and half-carry her inside.
All arrangements for the birthday party had been finalized. All she needed to do was wake up early tomorrow morning and dress up beautifully.
While she slept, the cooks, decorators, and greeters would all be performing their respective duties.
Xu Luzhi glanced at the clock it was almost midnight. She first dawdled in her princess bed for a long time before reluctantly getting up to take a shower.
The bathroom was lit with warm yellow light. She filled the bathtub with water, put in the bright yellow rubber duckies, and then began to inspect the clothes she would wear the next day.
Aunt Lin had already hung the dress she was to wear tomorrow in the most conspicuous spot in the cloakroom. It was a beautiful and elegant princess dress, bright and lively, yet not losing its youthful charm.
Next to the princess dress hung the underwear and panties she would wear tomorrow. They were simple styles, made of pure cotton, completely covering everything inside, looking unremarkable at a glance.
Even after a few more looks, they remained unremarkable.
Xu Luzhi compared herself in the mirror and found that she was indeed quite “flat.” This set of underwear was very suitable and flattering for her.
She tossed the underwear back onto the small sofa and sighed deeply, suddenly recalling the lace trim she had just touched. A rough texture still lingered on her fingertips, completely different from the smooth fabric.
If only she could also put on such a small, thin piece of fabric, like a cicada’s wing…
Xu Luzhi didn’t dwell on the thought, because the moment those words popped into her mind, her cheeks flushed, and her heart raced uncontrollably.
Any more thinking, and she might just die of embarrassment right there.
She hastily undressed and immersed herself completely in the bathtub, playing with the quacking little yellow ducks and letting out a long breath.
For her, at seventeen, it seemed that being accompanied by the little yellow ducks was the most ordinary and safest choice.
Xu Luzhi suddenly opened her eyes. She was tightly clutching a large teddy bear. The room was pitch black, and the curtains hadn’t automatically opened yet, indicating it wasn’t the designated time to wake up.
She took a deep breath. The soothing and calming aromatherapy scent was one she was all too familiar with, and the teddy bear’s ears were as soft as always.
Xu Luzhi blinked, confirming she had just been dreaming.
But… her hand tremblingly reached down a bit, and sure enough, there was that peculiar feeling she had never experienced before, which actually made her…
Xu Luzhi closed her eyes and self-pityingly slammed the teddy bear onto her face. Her face was so hot it could boil an egg, but even with her eyes closed, she couldn’t ignore her pounding heart, nor the stickiness her fingertips encountered.
This is so strange! She had just slept a normal sleep, why on earth did she have a dream like that?!
In fact, Xu Luzhi hadn’t even seen the person’s face, didn’t even know her name, only saw one outstretched arm and her clothes.
Yet, she was so captivated that even in her dream…
Xu Luzhi let out fake sobs and buried herself completely in the blanket, wishing she could suffocate herself.
She had attended health education classes. The teacher spoke earnestly about the knowledge points amidst the students’ giggles, but gradually everyone listened seriously, and no one joked anymore.
Some bolder girlfriends even invited her to watch “good stuff” together. Xu Luzhi, unable to resist her curiosity, took a couple of glances but was scared by the ugly and rough male lead, immediately closing the webpage and vowing never to watch such things again.
She had always thought of herself as the purest high school girl. Her girlfriends around her fell in love, changing boyfriends with a speed that made heads spin. Watching those “class prince” types, her heart was unmoved, and she even felt like laughing.
And even if someone handed her a love letter, Xu Luzhi would never even look at it and just throw it away. Fortunately, her grades were good, so everyone just said she was focusing on her studies and cutting off romance.
She never expected that on such an important day, she would have such an absurd dream.
Xu Luzhi usually didn’t remember her dreams, but this time, even long after waking up, the clear memory from the dream stubbornly remained in her mind, refusing to leave.
In the faint light, water was running, and a woman with a blurred face gracefully emerged, her figure beautiful, her every movement elegant.
She walked closer with a shallow smile, lifted Xu Luzhi’s chin, her fingertips still cold, and she smiled seductively, inviting Xu Luzhi to help her put on that thin strip of fabric.
In the dream, Xu Luzhi saw with her own eyes that, as she had imagined, it covered nothing. It was seen dimly yet clearly, and she only remembered the feeling being slightly cool, a smoothness she had never dared to fantasize about.
Xu Luzhi took a deep breath, shook her head hard, and managed to drive the lingering images from her mind, but still inevitably shuddered.
Like a guilty thief, she got out of bed. The moment her feet touched the floor, she felt an unprecedented weakness in her legs, as if she had been through something, yet she had only enjoyed a sweet sleep.
Xu Luzhi simultaneously despised herself and went into the bathroom to secretly take another shower and change her clothes.
She tossed the changed clothes aside, not daring to look at them again, as if they would burn her. After thinking for a moment, she took the showerhead, thoroughly soaked them, and tangled them into a mess.
Complete destruction of the evidence.
Feeling much cleaner all over, Xu Luzhi took a deep breath and heard her alarm clock starting to ring.
Only then did she remember that she had set no less than eighteen alarms to make sure she woke up on time.
Now that she was completely awake, she didn’t need a single one.
Xu Luzhi turned off all the alarms and went downstairs to ask Aunt Lin for breakfast. After eating breakfast, a stylist would come to make her up beautifully so she could be the most dazzling birthday girl of the day.
And all the invited guests would be setting off in about two hours, arriving with their gifts and blessings.
Xu Luzhi slowly walked down the stairs, feeling a little anxious.
She wondered… would she come?
