Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 108
Speaking of which, Lin Qingyue and Xu Luwei only met by chance.
The company was holding a year end party and needed acts for performances. Since Lin Qingyue played the guzheng well, that’s how she started talking with Xu Luwei, and so, whenever the company needed a performance over the years, Xu Luwei would invite her.
As expected of a large company, the red envelopes given were always generous. Lin Qingyue accepted them without hesitation, and in turn, she classified Xu Luwei as a friend.
Just an ordinary friend, they barely exchanged more than a few sentences. Her understanding of Xu Luwei was limited to a few adjectives:
Beautiful, reserved and noble, a workaholic, and she has a younger sister at home.
Sometimes so indifferent she was boring.
Xu Luwei wasn’t Lin Qingyue’s type, but she was very interested in the unusual fervor Xu Luwei showed towards Yi Liang, privately wanting to see how the story would unfold.
It was the end of December, time for the annual company party. Lin Qingyue and Meng Fan, among others, were responsible for a traditional music ensemble. With Yi Liang added, there was no available spot for her in the ensemble.
Meng Fan looked at the stunning young woman before her suspiciously: “Can she play the guzheng?”
Yi Liang tilted her head back and replied cheerfully, “A little bit.”
Lin Qingyue had only taught her twice at her mother’s invitation to their home a long time ago.
Later… Yi Liang’s eyes darkened momentarily, but she showed nothing on the surface, clinging to Lin Qingyue to help her figure something out, affectionately calling her ‘Master’ one after another.
Lin Qingyue gave her an idea: “Aren’t you a dance student? Why don’t you just perform a classical dance?”
Yi Liang’s eyes lit up. She had indeed studied classical dance, not much, but she could manage.
Unable to find a hanfu right away, Lin Qingyue lent her a gauze top. When Yi Liang draped it on, it gave her a somewhat hazy, seductive beauty. She randomly stuck a few hairpins in, and she really had the aura of a classical beauty.
The performance soon began. Xu Luwei, as the General Manager, sat in the front row, dead center. Yi Liang glanced over; the woman was wearing a hip-hugging dress and long, curled hair, so beautiful it made Yi Liang dizzy.
She finished the dance purely on instinct. Lin Qingyue and Meng Fan’s guzheng and pipa duet flowed smoothly. Yi Liang, with her flowing robes and wide sleeves, spun around in the small space, occasionally throwing in a few high difficulty moves that synchronized with the music’s rhythm.
In her side glances, her phoenix eyes sparkled with starlight, possessing a grace like a startled swan in flight and a vigor like a swimming dragon.
Xu Luwei watched with rapt attention and was the first to applaud after the dance concluded.
Yi Liang gazed at her, thinking, With the sound of silver bells, I wonder if it rang in her heart.
After the performance, Yi Liang was able to tag along with Lin Qingyue for the company’s year-end banquet. She ate and drank without holding back, sneaking glances at Xu Luwei.
The woman sat in the very center, holding a knife and fork. Even the way she cut her steak was so elegant and meticulous. The small pieces of food went into her mouth, her cherry lips moved slightly. A simple act of eating captivated Yi Liang.
Her gaze slid from Xu Luwei’s porcelain-like face down to her snow-white shoulders, admiring her shamelessly yet shyly. Especially the woman’s hands slender and beautiful beyond compare, making her want to bow down and kiss them.
Yi Liang lowered her head to eat for a while, then distracted herself by sneaking a look, happily occupied. By the time she finished a plate of steak and looked up again, she realized Xu Luwei was gone.
But a warm and gentle voice sounded near her ear: “You worked hard.”
A bright red object appeared before her. She instinctively grabbed it, only realizing after a moment that she had instinctively clutched Xu Luwei’s wrist, and the other person hadn’t pulled away, merely looking at her with a smile.
Yi Liang reluctantly let go, accepting the object in front of her it was a red envelope.
It was quite thick and heavy.
Xu Luwei’s voice was gentle: “You worked hard. The company didn’t prepare one for you, so I added this last minute.”
The silver bells on Yi Liang’s wrist tinkled. On an impulse, she asked, “Then… was my dancing good?”
The young woman looked up, her phoenix eyes dazzling. Xu Luwei was caught off guard, stunned for a moment, feeling as if she had been scorched by flames.
She composed herself: “Very good.”
Yi Liang’s eyes sparkled with brilliance: “Then do you like it?”
She asked directly. Xu Luwei nodded: “Yes, I like it.”
Polite and courteous. Yi Liang was a little unsatisfied, but she still curved her lips: “Good.”
She tilted her face up, her well-behaved look making people want to reach out and pat her head.
After eating her fill, it was time to leave, but Yi Liang slipped away when Lin Qingyue wasn’t looking, heading straight for the General Manager’s office on the top floor.
The entire floor was Xu Luwei’s domain. Having drunk quite a bit, the warm air made the alcohol slightly heady.
With flushed cheeks, the woman stood by the floor to ceiling window, staring at the bustling traffic below, her mind completely blank.
Year after year, life was progressing, but it was filled entirely with her career dull and empty, like plain boiled white cabbage.
Her parents constantly urged her to marry. She had thought about finding someone, but she wasn’t interested in any kind of man.
As for women… Her thoughts were weary, and in a daze, she heard the faint sound of tinkling silver bells.
Xu Luwei suddenly turned. With the lights off, illuminated only by the moonlight and the snow outside, she saw the young girl standing there.
Yi Liang walked closer step by step, bold and determined, accompanied by the moonlight, approaching Xu Luwei as if descending from heaven.
She spoke openly: “Excuse me… do you need a personal assistant?”
