- Fake Pregnancy? Oops, It’s Real — and So Is the Husband
- Chapter 35 - We're Definitely Going to See Some Exciting Content
Shen Lai nearly choked on her own saliva, her face flushing red from her neck to her cheeks. She hurriedly said, “Don’t talk nonsense! We didn’t do anything!”
Wu Qi gave her a knowing smile, one that was full of implication.
[Hehehe, Wu Qi ships them too.]
[Turns out it’s not just us… Wu Qi thinks the same way.]
[Side note, these two beauties standing together is such a feast for the eyes!]
[Shen Lai’s face is truly flawless. The moment she’s on screen, I can’t even see the other female guests!]
Just then, Director Miao appeared to announce the morning’s task: the Two-Tone Magnetic Badge Challenge.
“The program team will provide each of the four pairs with a Q&A board listing twenty preferences. You’ll need to answer them back-to-back without discussing or peeking at each other’s answers.”
“After completing your answers, the pair with the lowest match rate will be punished, they’ll have to publicly display their phone photo albums!”
[Damn, that punishment is intense!]
[I feel like we’re definitely going to see some exciting content, hehehe.]
[What if there are nude or bed photos?]
[Please, please lose! I want to see!]
[Honestly, if you know each other’s preferences, couldn’t you cheat at this game?]
[Not necessarily. If I choose your preferences and you choose mine, we’d still end up with mismatched answers.]
To prevent the guests from tampering with their photo albums beforehand, the program team confiscated their phones before the game started.
Shen Lai quietly turned to Pei Jingyan and whispered, “Good thing this game isn’t testing compatibility, otherwise, we’d be doomed.”
Pei Jingyan’s gaze darkened slightly as he took in Shen Lai’s delicate, pink-tinged complexion. His tone was calm as he replied, “Are you really that unconfident?”
“Of course,” Shen Lai said confidently. “What compatibility do we even have?”
If anything, they had a knack for clashing.
Pei Jingyan’s lips curled slightly. “Then you can relax while answering. No pressure.”
Shen Lai nodded. “You can relax too. Worst case, we lose and show them our phones.”
Not like there was anything scandalous in her photo album anyway.
Once the Q&A boards were handed out, the game officially began.
Shen Lai glanced at the questions, simple stuff like preferred coffee sweetness and favorite movie genres. Just answer honestly, and it’d be fine.
Thankfully, the program team didn’t ask about each other’s preferences. Otherwise, they’d definitely lose.
With zero pressure, Shen Lai breezed through the answers, figuring any mismatches could be chalked up to differing tastes.
Pei Jingyan tilted his head slightly and caught sight of Shen Lai diligently scribbling away, her hair cascading down, making her face look even smaller.
She answered as if she were taking an exam… quick, careless strokes, like a typical slacker student.
“Mr. Pei, are you cheating?”
A low voice suddenly sounded beside him.
Pei Jingyan looked up to see Huo Chilin staring at him, anger simmering in his eyes.
Pei Jingyan raised a brow. “If you know I’m cheating, does that mean you’ve been watching me this whole time?”
[Sorry, but for a second, I lowkey shipped this weird CP.]
[You guys are insane… shipping men with men now?]
[Can’t blame everyone for reading too much into it. Sometimes, the vibe between Young Master Huo and President Pei does feel a bit off.]
[Doesn’t anyone think Young Master Huo is deliberately picking on President Pei now? Could the rumors online about him and Shen Lai having been together actually be true?]
“Stop dodging the issue,” Huo Chilin pressed his lips into a tight line. “Director Miao said no peeking during the quiz. President Pei, please follow the rules.”
Then he turned to Director Miao. “Director, am I right?”
Unaware of the tension between them, Director Miao replied impartially, “That’s correct. President Pei, please respect the rules. Stop sneaking glances at your wife… you can look all you want after the game.”
At those words, Huo Chilin’s expression darkened even further.
[Director Miao knows how to ship them, LOL.]
[Since you’re so good at it, we hereby crown you the Shipping Master.]
[Our Shen-Jing CP now has its very own Shipping Master!]
Hearing the word “wife,” a faint smile tugged at Pei Jingyan’s lips as he lowered his head to answer the questions.
Shen Lai, completely oblivious to what had just happened, quickly filled out her answers based on her preferences and finished in under five minutes.
“Director, I’m done.”
One by one, the other guests completed their answers as well.
Pei Jingyan was the last to submit. He leisurely capped his pen, the simple motion exuding an air of cold elegance that had viewers in the livestream gushing over how handsome he was.
Director Miao began tallying the answers from the four pairs.
The first pair, Dai Jingxuan and Tong Miaoling, had only five matching answers.
The second pair, Yan Rui and Wu Qi, shared ten overlapping preferences.
[You know what? These two actually have pretty similar tastes.]
[Well, they are a couple, after all.]
[I originally thought they’d broken up, but after these games, I’m not so sure anymore… especially after Yan Rui bought stomach medicine for Wu Qi. That’s love if I’ve ever seen it.]
[The actor and actress pair have completely different preferences… how have they stayed together for so many years?]
[Hey, just because their tastes don’t match doesn’t mean they can’t be together. Maybe they share other interests?]
Despite this, after several rounds of games, the Yan-Wu pair had shown steady improvement, while the Dai-Tong pair, initially favored by viewers, began revealing cracks.
In the past, fans of Bai Hansui and Huo Chilin would’ve already jumped in to proclaim how in love their idols were. But after several embarrassing missteps, they stayed unusually quiet this time.
When it came to the third pair, Bai Hansui and Huo Chilin, sharp-eyed fans in the livestream noticed their first two answers matched.
Worried fans who’d been holding back immediately perked up.
[Their first two answers are the same… now that’s what I call couple goals!]
[The first two pairs didn’t even come close. Lin-Sui CP reigns supreme!]
[Who dares call them fake now? We’ll smack that nonsense right out of you!]
But the CP fans’ cheers were short-lived as Director Miao announced, “The Huo-Bai pair has a total of two matching answers!”
CP fans: “???”
What the hell?
Two answers?!
Even the actor-actress pair had more than that!
Fans initially thought Director Miao had miscounted, but as the camera zoomed in, the chat fell silent.
Bai Hansui’s expression also soured.
She had assumed Huo Chilin would try to match her preferences.
[Those who enjoy shipping scattered CPs are in for a treat, the main couple is busy slapping their fans in the face.]
[The loudest voices always come from Bai Hansui and Huo Chilin’s fans, yet they end up getting humiliated every time. I cringe on their behalf.]
[What exactly are you guys’ shipping? Even Huo Chilin and President Pei have more chemistry than this pair.]
[I used to think the rumors about Huo Chilin and Shen Lai dating were fake, but now I’m starting to believe it. There’s zero romantic spark between Huo Chilin and Bai Hansui.]
Perhaps the backlash came too swiftly this time, as the fans were unusually silent, leaving the live chat flooded with doubts about Huo Chilin and Bai Hansui’s relationship.
If Huo Chilin truly loved Bai Hansui as much as the fans claimed, he would have chosen all her preferences. Yet, they each picked their own answers, with only two overlapping interests.
Still, some defiant fans jumped in to argue.
[This isn’t some love test… the director never said they had to pick the same answers. Why is this pair the only one getting mocked?]
[Exactly. By your logic, if President Pei and Shen Lai’s team also had few matching answers, would that mean their relationship is fake too?]
[Hey, all you loudmouths in the chat better not play favorites. Let’s see how many answers this plastic couple actually gets right in these preference questions.]
