- Fake Pregnancy? Oops, It’s Real — and So Is the Husband
- Chapter 31 - Just Beg Me and I’ll Agree
But Shen Lai couldn’t make it too obvious, scaring him off would be counterproductive.
She merely cast a cold glance at Huo Chilin and walked ahead on her own, just as she had behaved on the show these past two days.
Seeing Shen Lai’s indifferent attitude, that uncomfortable feeling in Huo Chilin’s chest resurfaced.
However, this also proved that Shen Lai wasn’t the Big Bad Wolf.
Otherwise, she would have already made her move against him.
Thinking this, Huo Chilin dismissed his suspicions.
Earlier, when Shen Lai had looked around, she must have been trying to guard against Pei Jingyan, right?
Huo Chilin took the initiative to step forward and said, “You heard it just now, didn’t you? Hansui got eliminated.”
[Wait, is this guy actually initiating a conversation with Shen Lai? Weren’t they supposed to be strangers?]
[I thought Young Master Huo would pretend not to see Shen Lai. Didn’t expect him to talk to her first.]
[This is part of the game. Of course, Young Master Huo wouldn’t ignore other guests, use your brain.]
[Exactly! And Young Master Huo is such a caring and warm man. Isn’t it normal for him to worry about Shen Lai wandering alone in the escape room?]
[Shen Lai’s fans, stop reading too much into this, okay? It’s just a normal interaction, don’t twist it.]
Shen Lai didn’t even spare Huo Chilin a glance as she continued walking ahead. “I’m not deaf. Of course I heard.”
Huo Chilin’s tone was grave. “So now, the Big Bad Wolf is among the three of us.”
Shen Lai finally stopped and turned to look at him, frowning slightly. “What are you trying to say?”
Huo Chilin spoke confidently. “I already verified my identity in the last round, I can’t be the Big Bad Wolf. So, one of you or Pei Jingyan must be the mole.”
Shen Lai looked at him as if she’d heard something ridiculous. “What if I’m the Big Bad Wolf?”
Huo Chilin said firmly, “You’re not.”
Shen Lai raised an eyebrow.
“If you were the Big Bad Wolf, the first one you’d eliminate would be Pei Jingyan.” Huo Chilin reasoned logically.
Shen Lai chuckled. “Maybe I like Pei Jingyan and can’t bring myself to target him.”
At the word “like,” Huo Chilin’s gaze darkened slightly. Mindful of the cameras nearby, he clenched his fists and lowered his voice so only she could hear. “I don’t believe it.”
He stared intently at Shen Lai’s face, his words almost gritted out. “Even if you two are really together, it must be against your will.”
Shen Lai thought to herself, Huo Chilin’s intuition was scarily accurate.
But she wouldn’t admit it in front of the cameras. She replied coolly, “Think whatever you want.”
Huo Chilin’s chest rose and fell slightly. He took a quiet breath to steady himself. “Besides, if you were the Big Bad Wolf, you wouldn’t have separated from Pei Jingyan, right?”
Recalling Pei Jingyan’s earlier pocket-checking gesture, he became even more convinced that Pei Jingyan was the Big Bad Wolf.
Though she didn’t know where Huo Chilin got this misconception, the fact that he didn’t suspect her made it easier for her to act.
Shen Lai pretended to be indifferent. “So what if Pei Jingyan is the Big Bad Wolf?”
Huo Chilin scoffed. “Hansui’s already been eliminated. Next, Pei Jingyan will definitely target you. So if you want to survive, you’d better stick with me.”
“Two people are safer than one.”
“And if I say no?”
Huo Chilin’s brows furrowed deeply. He had thought Shen Lai would surely agree to his request given the urgency of the situation, but he hadn’t expected her to be so stubborn. “Even if you’re throwing a tantrum, you should at least consider the timing, shouldn’t you?”
Shen Lai sneered, “I wouldn’t dare walk with Young Master Huo, lest your fans accuse me of riding your coattails again.”
Seeing that Shen Lai wouldn’t even spare him face in front of the cameras, Huo Chilin clenched his teeth. “Do you hate me so much that you don’t even want to be with me at a time like this?”
Without hesitation, Shen Lai replied, “Yes. I’d rather be eliminated than stay with you.”
With that, she turned to leave. Huo Chilin, momentarily forgetting the cameras, instinctively reached out to grab her.
The moment his hand closed around her wrist, Shen Lai suddenly spun around. Before Huo Chilin could react, she swiftly pulled a sticker from her pocket and slapped it onto his forehead with lightning speed.
Huo Chilin was stunned.
[Wait… what? Shen Lai’s move was so smooth!]
[I didn’t even see it clearly… she already stuck the sticker on Huo Chilin’s head?]
[Isn’t the bigger deal that Huo Chilin grabbed her? Their relationship isn’t that close, right? Why did it feel so natural for him to reach out like that?]
[I had the same thought, but I didn’t dare say it earlier.]
[Something feels off… these two don’t seem like they just met. The atmosphere is weird.]
Unsurprisingly, Shen Lai and Huo Chilin’s names quickly trended on social media. Curious netizens who rushed to the scene expected to see Shen Lai leeching off Huo Chilin’s fame again, but when they clicked on the video, they were shocked to find that it was Huo Chilin who had made the first move.
Moreover, the way they spoke to each other didn’t seem like strangers at all… it was more like they had known each other for a long time.

Huo Chilin was still unaware that his impulsive action had caused quite a stir online. It wasn’t until he touched the sticker on his forehead that he finally realized—Shen Lai was the “Big Bad Wolf” hidden among them.
Furious and humiliated, he snapped, “You set me up?”
Shen Lai smiled. “All’s fair in war, Young Master Huo. Haven’t you heard that saying?”
Huo Chilin’s chest heaved violently.
Then what was Pei Jingyan doing earlier in the escape room, pretending to be the Big Bad Wolf?
And why hadn’t Shen Lai attacked him from the start? Why wait so long to strike?
As the announcement of Huo Chilin’s elimination echoed overhead, staff members dragged him out of the room.
Now, only Pei Jingyan remained.
The mere thought of him gave Shen Lai a headache.
With Huo Chilin and Bai Hansui both eliminated, there was no guessing who the hidden “Big Bad Wolf” was.
Pei Jingyan, the last survivor, wouldn’t be an easy target.
Especially since the two of them had argued just twenty minutes ago.
As Shen Lai racked her brain for a way to take Pei Jingyan out, she turned a corner and ran straight into him.
Her steps faltered slightly, and the air between them grew awkward.
“Big Bad Wolf,” Pei Jingyan broke the silence first. “What are you standing there for?”
Shen Lai swallowed hard. Seeing his composed expression, as if nothing had happened between them, she mirrored his demeanor. “Since you know I’m the Big Bad Wolf, why aren’t you running?”
Pei Jingyan’s lips curled. “Can you beat me?”
Shen Lai choked.
She really couldn’t.
Pei Jingyan teased, “Since you can’t win, why would I need to run?”
Shen Lai thought to herself that brute force clearly wasn’t working, she’d have to take a roundabout approach.
So, she walked over and said quietly, “Pei Jingyan, let’s talk this out.”
Pei Jingyan glanced up at her. “Talk about what?”
Shen Lai covered her mouth with one hand, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear. “Look, we’re just wasting time like this. How about you let me put a sticker on you, pretend you lost, and when it’s all done, I’ll split the reward with you. Deal?”
Pei Jingyan raised an eyebrow, unmoved. “How do I know you won’t go back on your word afterward?”
Shen Lai grew impatient. “Do I really seem that untrustworthy to you?”
Pei Jingyan nodded without hesitation.
Shen Lai: “………”
She took a quiet breath and sighed. “Fine, what will it take for you to believe me? Should I write you an IOU?”
Peering at Shen Lai’s hopeful expression, Pei Jingyan said with amusement, “You really want to win that badly?”
Shen Lai nodded eagerly.
She didn’t know what the reward was, but the show’s production team probably wouldn’t skimp.
Maybe it was a huge sum of money?
Pei Jingyan lazily stuffed his hands in his pockets. “I prefer immediate benefits. How about this?beg me, and I’ll let you put the sticker on me. Sound good?”
