Exclusively Possessed By A Yandere Rich Girl - Chapter 7
Class began, but Zhu Nianxi still hadn’t arrived.
Outside the window, torrential rain poured down, the relentless sound of the storm stirring a restless irritation in everyone’s hearts.
Once the morning self-study period ended, Xu Fei went to the office to hand over the signed forms to her homeroom teacher.
“Alright,” Li Qin said as she took them. Instead of looking at the forms, she shifted her gaze onto the student standing before her. “Xu Fei, did you run into any difficulties when getting these signed?”
Why would she ask that?
Xu Fei instinctively masked her thoughts. “No.”
Predicting this exact response, Li Qin fell silent for a moment.
Last night, she had received a call from an unfamiliar number. The caller introduced herself as Xu Fei’s middle school teacher and mentioned there was something she needed to pass along. For that teacher to go through the trouble of finding her number, it clearly wasn’t a trivial matter.
But regardless of what it was, Xu Fei was her student now. There were certain things she, as a teacher, could handle.
“Xu Fei, for any future forms, I will sign off on them for you. I’ll write up an application form, so you don’t need to worry about it.”
Li Qin settled the matter definitively, making absolutely no mention of the extra workload it would bring her.
Xu Fei froze, her heart softening completely. She knew her teacher was helping her, and she said earnestly, “Thank you, Teacher.”
Li Qin brushed it off. “If you want to thank me, then focus on your studies. You’re a sophomore now, it’s time to work hard. Go on back.”
“Teacher, I still have one more question.”
“Speak.”
Xu Fei hesitated for a few seconds before finally speaking up. “Why wasn’t Zhu Nianxi here for morning self-study?”
Li Qin didn’t react right away.
Xu Fei was introverted and quiet, keeping a very low profile in class. She rarely saw Xu Fei hang out with others, let alone show concern for someone.
Recalling the tutoring sessions the physics teacher had mentioned, Li Qin suppressed her curiosity and replied, “Nianxi had something to take care of, so she requested leave for the morning.”
Something to take care of?
Half of the weight on Xu Fei’s heart lifted, yet her thoughts remained tied to the Omega.
Because the rain was simply too heavy today, the school canceled the outdoor exercises during the extended break.
After finishing their eye exercises, Xu Fei went to get some water. By the time she returned, a clear and elegant silhouette had appeared in the seat by the window.
Zhu Nianxi was chatting with a few classmates who were checking in on her. A smile played on her lips, maintaining her usual exquisite, flawless demeanor.
Unfortunately, before Xu Fei could get a word in, class started.
With the Omega right in front of her eyes yet completely out of reach for a conversation, Xu Fei found herself in agony. For the first time since entering high school, she tore off a piece of scrap paper and decided to pass a note during class.
Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Zhu Nianxi turned around expressionlessly, her gaze locking onto a small piece of paper emerging from the gap between their desks.
Xu Fei was sitting awkwardly, her left shoulder dipping low as she stretched her hand forward as far as possible, pinching the little note between her index and middle fingers.
She gave it a little shake.
Did you see it?
The Beta was pretending to look serious, but her round, doe like eyes were staring at her with a pitiful, pleading look.
Distracted from the dull ache in her right leg, Zhu Nianxi leaned back and took the note.
“Is your leg okay?
PS: I finished all the homework you assigned yesterday.”
Zhu Nianxi picked up her pen to write a reply, copying Xu Fei’s posture by slipping her hand into the gap between the desks.
An expectant look flashed across Xu Fei’s eyes, and she bent down to receive it.
They touched!
It was Zhu Nianxi’s hand, cool, but very soft.
The Omega’s hand felt as smooth as jade. Suppressing the slight flutter rising in her chest, Xu Fei fumbled to grasp the paper.
Suddenly, the note slipped mischievously from her grasp. In her clumsiness, the pad of her finger brushed against Zhu Nianxi’s knuckle.
Ah, I missed it.
Xu Fei’s expression immediately turned dead serious.
She leaned even further sideways, straining to reach it, but missed several times in a row. Instead of grabbing the paper, she ended up brushing against the Omega’s hand all over.
What should I do? I didn’t mean to.
Anxious and embarrassed, Xu Fei felt her blush spread from her ears down to her neck. Naturally, she failed to notice the suppressed smile tugging at the corner of the Omega’s mouth.
Tao Yaqian noticed the commotion and was just about to warn her when another voice boomed down from the podium.
The chemistry teacher tapped the whiteboard with a stern expression. “Xu Fei, which option is correct for the question on the PowerPoint?”
Startled, Xu Fei bolted upright.
The answer wasn’t in her textbook. She looked toward Tao Yaqian for help, but her desk mate simply shook her head.
With half the classroom turning to look at her, Xu Fei felt as though her intense embarrassment might incinerate her into ash. The words “I don’t know” faltered on the tip of her tongue.
Just then, a soft tapping sound came from the desk ahead.
Zhu Nianxi extended two fingers, curving them slightly toward her.
Xu Fei pretended to ponder for two seconds before answering, “Option B.”
The chemistry teacher withdrew his glaring eyes. “Correct. Sit down, and pay attention in class.”
As if granted a grand reprieve, Xu Fei cast a grateful look at Zhu Nianxi and mouthed the words, “Thank you.”
Zhu Nianxi smiled back at her. “You’re welcome.”
Catching sight of the Beta’s crimson earlobes, she decided to show some mercy and let Xu Fei off the hook.
The note had been balled up and dropped onto the floor. Stooping down under the guise of picking up her pen, Xu Fei finally retrieved it.
On the scrap paper, two lines of handwriting sat close together. Xu Fei’s rounded strokes and Zhu Nianxi’s elegant script.
“You did very well. I’ll explain the problems to you at noon.”
Xu Fei carefully put the note away, unable to stop the bubbling joy welling up in her heart.
Hehe, I got a reward.
In September, the school was still operating on summer hours. The lunch break lasted from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Boarding students could return to their dorms to sleep, while day students were free to do as they pleased.
Considering that some students chose to nap at their desks, the classroom had to remain completely silent.
Their tutoring spot was the same empty classroom as yesterday.
The west facing window was open, letting in the driving rain and filling the air with a biting chill.
Arriving first, Xu Fei closed the window and turned on the air conditioner’s dehumidifying function. She wasn’t sure if it would help, but it was worth a try.
Yesterday, Zhu Nianxi had assigned her homework, instructing her to compile all the problems they had covered into a corrections notebook and solve them again to reinforce her memory. Xu Fei had stayed up writing until 11:30 last night, meticulously completing every single question.
The Omega wore a focused expression as she checked the notebook. Spotting a minor error, she kept her eyes on Xu Fei until it was corrected.
Xu Fei wasn’t stupid, in middle school, she used to rank in the top 100 of her grade. But after a sudden tragedy struck her family, she spent far too much energy fighting against the world, and her studies gradually fell by the wayside.
Teachers often said that studying was for one’s own benefit. To others, it was just a motivational phrase; but to Xu Fei, it was a stark reality. She hadn’t given up on herself, she was just… a little lost.
In a world so vast, who could she look to? What could she possibly look forward to?
Yet, in a corner the young girl had not noticed, a small flower bud was quietly emerging within her desolate world.
“It’s done.” Xu Fei pushed the notebook back to Zhu Nianxi, looking at her expectantly.
Zhu Nianxi scanned the answer and smiled. “You got it right. Now do the next one.”
“Okay.”
Praised once again, Xu Fei happily took back her scratch paper and continued working on the problems. If she had a tail, it would undoubtedly be wagging furiously against her stool right now.
The light, breezy aura radiating from her drifted over to Zhu Nianxi.
Zhu Nianxi observed the person beside her with curiosity.
Yan Fu had told her about what happened at the hospital last night. The outcome was acceptable, but the process could hardly be called pleasant.
Was Xu Fei satisfied?
Zhu Nianxi rested her chin on her hand, her leather shoe tapping rhythmically against the floor to alleviate the deep, bone deep ache in her right leg.
Her leg suffered from severe long-term complications; the same wound had undergone a second fracture. It was a choice she had made herself, and she didn’t regret it.
“Nianxi?”
The girl’s clear voice rang out again. Zhu Nianxi looked up. “What’s wrong? Is there something you don’t understand?”
Xu Fei gazed at her earnestly. Judging by the worry etched into her features, she had hesitated for a very long time before speaking. “Your leg… does it hurt a lot?”
It was an unexpected question.
Zhu Nianxi sat back, crossing her legs and resting her folded hands over her knee. Then, she forced a flawless smile. “Why do you say that?”
“…Because your face is very pale.”
Xu Fei pursed her lips. In reality, that wasn’t the reason.
It was the scent.
It was the scent of white roses lingering in the air that told her.
Whenever she faced Zhu Nianxi, Xu Fei would always experience a sort of illusion, as if she, a mere Beta, could actually smell an Omega’s pheromones. She had woven a massive field of flowers in her mind, and occasionally, she could catch wisps of fragrance carried by the wind.
All this time, the scent had perfectly matched Zhu Nianxi herself, noble, aloof, delicate yet commanding.
But today, the white rose had drooped its proud head. Its stem felt fragile, and its fragrance had become faint and aimless, like a creature searching for a place to rest.
Xu Fei knew this wasn’t real; it was just her subconscious playing tricks on her imagination. But, what if?
Zhu Nianxi smiled, and in that fleeting moment, she let her guard down.
She nodded, admitting it openly. “Xu Fei, it hurts a lot.”
Taking medication hadn’t helped. The drugs left her mind groggy, yet the old injury kept jolting her awake. The two forces tormented her back and forth. Locked in that endless struggle, Zhu Nianxi had listened to the rain outside until the sky turned pale.
Every storm seemed to pierce right through her body, raining straight down upon her soul.
Having received the exact answer she anticipated, Xu Fei felt no relief whatsoever. Her expression stiffened, as though the pain afflicting the Omega had somehow transferred onto her.
“Nianxi, what should we do then?”
“Endure it.” Zhu Nianxi turned her head, her snow-pale face looking extraordinarily fragile to Xu Fei. “You get used to it after a while.”
Xu Fei stared at her, dazed.
Not wanting to prolong the topic, Zhu Nianxi cut it short in a timely manner. “Feifei, let’s keep doing the problems.”
The lunch break slipped by quickly, and the sound of approaching footsteps soon echoed from the hallway.
Zhu Nianxi stood up.
She began tidying her desk, placing each item back one by one according to her habits, refusing to let a single thing be out of order. Her books were stacked in a perfectly neat pile, their owner possessed a near-pathological obsession, constantly adjusting their angles.
Suddenly, the books were snatched away, ruining the carefully aligned spines as a pair of strong hands entered her field of vision.
Gathering her own items underneath and piling Zhu Nianxi’s things right on top, Xu Fei scooped everything into her arms.
Flustered by her own sudden actions, Xu Fei’s face turned bright red, yet she refused to let go. Her usually gentle eyes reflected a stubborn determination.
“Nianxi, I’ll carry these back for you. You don’t have to carry anything.”
With that, as if terrified the Omega would question her reasons, Xu Fei bolted out the door, her retreating figure looking somewhat flurried.
During the afternoon classes, Zhu Nianxi’s condition showed no signs of improvement.
While others couldn’t tell, Xu Fei, who had been watching her closely, noticed that the Omega’s right leg would tremble involuntarily from time to time. The frequency was low, and it would abruptly stop after two or three twitches.
Xu Fei guessed that Zhu Nianxi was intentionally suppressing it. Perfect as she was, she would never allow such a glaring flaw to be noticed by anyone else.
The rain grew heavier and heavier. Even though it was three o’clock in the afternoon, the classroom was as dark as it would be after sunset.
During the break, a classmate sighed, “The rain is so heavy. We’re going to get soaked on the way home, it’s so miserable.”
Zhu Nianxi appeared entirely unaffected as she explained a math problem to Jian Zhixing.
Tao Yaqian was slumped over her desk catching up on sleep. Xu Fei was not in her seat, leaving her physics corrections notebook half-finished on the desk.
The bell rang right on time, and Li Qin walked into the classroom holding her textbook.
At the same time, another figure slipped quietly through the back door.
It was Xu Fei.
There was no telling where she had just run off to. Both of her shoulders were damp, and her usually fluffy hair was beaded with water droplets, giving her a clean, fresh look. She sidled along the wall, trying to squeeze back into her seat through the narrow gap.
Zhu Nianxi lowered her eyes and took out her mathematics textbook.
Suddenly, Xu Fei reached out and slipped a warm, cylindrical object into her hand, her expression tense and slightly flustered.
It was a carton of warm sweet milk in bright red packaging, featuring a cartoon character sporting a silly, wide grin.
Zhu Nianxi gripped it, feeling a gentle warmth spread across her palm.
