Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 79
Half an hour later, Ning Xi stepped out of the bathroom, her long hair damp and clinging to her back. The room was still filled with steam. Her eyelashes were thick and dark, her pupils slightly glazed with drunkenness, and a faint blush spread across her cheeks.
She walked over to the bed and set an empty wine bottle down on the nightstand.
To make her drunken state more believable, Ning Xi had drunk another bottle of wine while showering. Even after bathing, the scent of alcohol still clung to her. No matter what she said, Yu Qingxue would never believe she wasn’t drunk with that strong scent on her.
Ning Xi ran a towel briefly through her hair, took off the bathrobe, and changed into the dark green silk nightdress that belonged to Yu Qingxue. The rich emerald color made her pale skin look even more porcelain-like, almost cold as snow. The dress was tighter across her chest than it had been a month ago, clinging to her curves. The hem stopped three inches above her knees, revealing long, slender legs. Her bony feet stepped barefoot onto the deep gray carpet, her toenails tinted with a soft, elegant pink.
She brushed through her hair one last time. Once she was satisfied with her appearance, she left the bedroom barefoot and headed to the small private screening room next door.
Outside the door, she heard sounds from within. Yu Qingxue had already arrived.
Ning Xi placed a hand on her chest, quietly rehearsing in her mind what she was about to do. Then, she gently pushed the door open and walked in.
The screening room lights were off. Only the soft glow of the projector lit up the screen at the front.
Yu Qingxue turned at the sound of the door and froze.
Backlit by the projector, Ning Xi stepped into the room. Her black hair flowed over her shoulders, her skin pale as snow, her lips a soft red. The skin that peeked through the nightdress shimmered under the dim light, and as she slowly walked forward, it felt like a seductress from the shadows was approaching step by step.
Yu Qingxue’s eyes were fixed on her. For a moment, she forgot to breathe.
Ning Xi closed the door and walked to her side. Yu Qingxue never looked away from her, not even for a second.
Ning Xi sat down. Her alcohol-glazed eyes moved over Yu Qingxue’s body, which was completely wrapped up in a thick bathrobe. Her lips curved into a smile.
“Qingxue, are you cold? Why are you wearing so much?”
Yu Qingxue snapped out of it and quickly turned her gaze back to the screen, fumbling with the remote control in her hand. “It’s autumn now. The nights are getting chilly.”
“Really? I feel pretty warm,” Ning Xi whispered, her voice brushing against Yu Qingxue’s ear.
Yu Qingxue’s fingers moved faster over the buttons. Her voice trembled slightly. “Because you’ve been drinking.”
“Aren’t we watching a movie? What do you want to watch?” Yu Qingxue’s heart couldn’t take much more. She desperately tried to change the subject.
“There’s a new movie that just came out. The reviews online are really good,” Ning Xi replied.
“New movies… Do you mean Shadow Spy or Modern Family? The highest-rated one right now is Autumn Banquet. It’s a historical drama. Do you want to watch that?” Yu Qingxue asked.
“Neither,” Ning Xi said, placing her hand over Yu Qingxue’s and, taking advantage of her distraction, gently took the remote and searched for the movie she had in mind.
“This is the one. I didn’t expect this hotel to have such a wide selection,” she said as she pressed play, placing the remote on the opposite side, out of Yu Qingxue’s reach.
The standard government-regulated opening credits of every domestic film began to roll.
Yu Qingxue finally came back to her senses. “What’s the title of this movie?”
Not many new films had been released lately. The ones she had mentioned earlier were all of decent quality. The rest had little to offer and weren’t worth watching.
Ning Xi replied, “Etched into the Depths of My Soul.”
The opening credits ended. The film began.
A breathy moan echoed from the speakers, drifting into Yu Qingxue’s ears. Her snowy-white face flushed red as she stared in shock at the entangled figures on the screen.
“This is… an adult film?”
“The story and acting are actually very good,” Ning Xi replied. “Even if the scenes are a bit detailed, it’s still a well-made film.”
Yu Qingxue had watched this kind of film before, but always alone at home. Watching it now with Ning Xi in a small, dark room made her back break out in a cold sweat.
“Do these films make you feel anything?” Ning Xi asked.
The fruitwood-scented alcohol on her breath drifted over. Yu Qingxue couldn’t help but swallow nervously. “W-what kind of feeling?”
Ning Xi leaned closer, her dark eyes glowing with light. “Like wanting someone beside you…”
As she spoke, her red lips brushed past Yu Qingxue’s ear. Yu Qingxue shivered and quickly covered her ear, rubbing it gently. She turned her head and said, cheeks red, “No. I’ve never thought about that.”
“No?” Ning Xi gave a soft, disappointed sigh. “I thought you’d miss me. I watched a bit of this movie last night before bed, and I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
“Why don’t you miss me?”
Her head lowered slightly. Her voice was full of sadness.
Yu Qingxue hurried to comfort her. “I didn’t know you back then.”
Ning Xi looked up at her, eyes fixed on her face. “Then who did you think about before you knew me?”
“No one,” Yu Qingxue answered, blushing. She wasn’t sure how she had ended up discussing something like this with Ning Xi.
The movie’s volume grew louder and louder, to the point where it was impossible to ignore.
Yu Qingxue couldn’t stop herself from remembering the night a month ago when Ning Xi had marked her.
Her heart began to race. The temperature in the room felt like it was rising. At last, she couldn’t take it anymore and removed the thick bathrobe, revealing the soft pink silk nightdress underneath.
Ning Xi turned to her with a smile. Her low, raspy voice sounded right beside Yu Qingxue’s ear. “You were thinking about me just now. That’s why you felt so hot, right?”
Yu Qingxue felt half her body go numb. How did Ning Xi know exactly what she had been thinking?
“Why were you thinking about me?” Ning Xi asked.
Yu Qingxue mumbled, “I don’t know…”
“You know,” Ning Xi said with certainty. “I miss you because I like you. So if you miss me too, it must be for the same reason, right?”
Yu Qingxue stared at her in a daze. “What… what did you just say?”
Ning Xi gave a gentle smile. Looking into Yu Qingxue’s eyes, she said clearly, “I like you.”
Yu Qingxue felt like she had turned into a fully cooked shrimp, her entire body blushing red. “You’re drunk.”
“I’m not,” Ning Xi said, leaning closer. “If you don’t believe me, smell for yourself.”
Yu Qingxue only caught the faint, intoxicating scent of fruity wine and murmured softly, “Everyone who’s drunk says they’re not.”
Ning Xi had drunk a lot of red wine at the restaurant. Its effects came slowly but hit hard. Her cheeks grew redder, her eyes hazier and filled with warmth. “Even if I’m drunk, I still like you. What about you? Do you like me?”
“…Yes,” Yu Qingxue answered. Her knee accidentally brushed against Ning Xi’s, and the heat from Ning Xi’s skin seeped into her body. Her muscles softened slightly, and even her glands began to tingle.
“Ning Xi, my pheromone suppressant has stopped working…”
When had Lin Zhuoyan managed to pull something?
On the morning of the 16th, sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, casting a hazy glow over the bed where two figures were asleep in each other’s arms.
Ning Xi opened her eyes, feeling the warmth in her embrace. Looking down, she saw Yu Qingxue still sound asleep in her arms. A strange sense of contentment welled up in her chest. She couldn’t resist pressing a kiss to Yu Qingxue’s forehead.
Yu Qingxue’s long, curled lashes trembled. She slowly opened her eyes, revealing light-colored irises still misted with sleep.
“Mm…” She rubbed against Ning Xi’s chest with a sleepy sigh, then suddenly froze.
She looked up and met Ning Xi’s smiling eyes. Realizing where she had just nuzzled, her face turned bright red. “S-sorry…”
Ning Xi kissed her cheek. “It’s fine. You’re my girlfriend. You can nuzzle me anytime you want.”
Yu Qingxue blushed even deeper. “Being your girlfriend gives me that right, but only if you’re wearing clothes.”
Still holding her, Ning Xi laughed softly. “Qingxue, how are you so cute?”
“If I weren’t, would you have confessed to me first?” Yu Qingxue tilted her chin up proudly.
“You’re right,” Ning Xi admitted without hesitation.
Out of consideration for Yu Qingxue, Jiang Yuanxin had rescheduled her scenes for the evening.
With plenty of time, the two stayed in bed a while longer before getting up.
After washing up and changing clothes, and finishing breakfast, it was already ten thirty in the morning.
Ning Xi sat on the sofa while Yu Qingxue lazily lay across her lap, absentmindedly playing with Ning Xi’s fingers.
Ning Xi had faint calluses on her fingertips. Wherever they touched still tingled slightly. Yu Qingxue couldn’t help but remember how those hands had once ignited her body over eight days and nights, melting her from ice into spring water.
With her free hand, Ning Xi picked up her phone and opened Weibo. Suddenly, she felt a light kiss on her fingertip. She looked down to see Yu Qingxue holding her hand, her cheeks red as she stared off at a fixed point in the air.
“What are you thinking about?” Ning Xi asked with a curious smile.
“Nothing.” Yu Qingxue quickly let go of her hand and casually changed the subject. “Has Lin Zhuoyan caused any trouble these past few days?”
Ning Xi took her hand and kissed her fingertip again. “It looks like he tried to. But your fans shut him down. There are only a couple screenshots online showing your fans arguing with some big-name blogger. The rest have been deleted.”
Yu Qingxue perked up. “Jiang Yuanxin definitely saved the screenshots. I’ll ask him.”
She sat up and picked up her phone from the coffee table, opening WeChat.
Yu Qingxue: [Sudden appearance]
Yu Qingxue: How have you been the past few days?
Jiang Yuanxin: I’ve been hanging out at the law firm with my wife every day. It’s been great~
Yu Qingxue: Ning Xi and I just went through an eight-day and eight-night battle. No breaks.
Jiang Yuanxin: …I honestly admire you two, but I don’t envy you at all. I value my life.
Yu Qingxue: Alright, enough joking. Serious question. Has Lin Zhuoyan pulled any stunts recently?
Jiang Yuanxin: That guy never learns. He leaked photos and videos from the wrap party to try and smear you. Ended up getting himself dragged instead. I honestly don’t know how someone that brainless managed to juggle five relationships. Those five must be even dumber.
Jiang Yuanxin: I’ll send you the screenshots. They show the whole process.
The content Lin Zhuoyan’s hired photographer captured at the wrap party was almost useless, so he had to try twisting the story based on what little material he had.
Jiang Yuanxin: Here, take a look at this video first. [Video file]
Yu Qingxue tapped the video and leaned against Ning Xi’s shoulder to watch it with her.
The footage showed the private room at the restaurant. Lin Zhuoyan held out a glass of wine to toast Yu Qingxue. His expression shifted from hopeful to heartbroken, tugging at the viewer’s sympathy, especially in contrast to Yu Qingxue’s cold indifference.
His voice was clear, but Ning Xi’s biting remark had been deliberately edited out.
As they finished watching, Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue looked at each other.
“I think I understand now why he got roasted so badly online,” Ning Xi said.
The camera had been at least three meters away, yet Lin Zhuoyan’s voice in the video sounded like it had been recorded right next to the microphone. There was no background noise at all. It was obvious he had been wearing a recording device, and the audio had been added during editing.
Yu Qingxue laughed out loud at how foolish he was. “I figured it out too.”
Yu Qingxue: Just watched it. Lin Zhuoyan is seriously dumb.
Jiang Yuanxin: Dumb and doesn’t even know it. That’s kind of sad. Here are some screenshots of what your fans said. [Image] [Image] [Image]
Fan comments:
Haha, the person filming was clearly hired by Lin Zhuoyan, and the voiceover was probably recorded by him too. He’s doing everything he can just to smear our Yuyu. Honestly, it’s painfully stupid.
That influencer isn’t any better. Did you not even check the video Lin Zhuoyan gave you? The flaws are huge. Is he trying to frame Yu Qingxue or embarrass himself? I feel bad for her. Being targeted by someone this dumb must be exhausting.
Jiang Yuanxin: [Image] [Image] These are replies from his fans trying to defend him. Your fans completely shut them down. One of his big supporters even ended up deleting their account out of embarrassment.
Fan comments:
Lin Zhuoyan just entered the entertainment industry. He’s innocent and naive. This video might look like it’s targeting Yu Qingxue, but it’s actually ruining Lin Zhuoyan’s image. Everyone knows he became famous because of the show she invested in. She helped him. Why would he try to hurt her? Maybe someone planted the recording device on him to mess with their relationship. He probably didn’t even know it was there.
Unbelievable. His fans are shameless. They talk like he’s the victim here.
Lin Zhuoyan is such a pure little flower. So innocent. Didn’t even realize someone put a recorder on his chest.
Maybe his eyes are on the back of his head. That would explain why he didn’t notice a recorder on his own body.
This is hilarious. His fans are getting better and better at lying. He didn’t know anything? Is he supposed to be brainless or what?
Jiang Yuanxin: Fan Weixi had the company send a lawyer’s letter to the blogger who posted the video. The blogger deleted the post right away and pinned a public apology to their profile for a full month.
Jiang Yuanxin: As for Lin Zhuoyan, anyone with eyes can tell he’s not clean. But his fans act like they’re under a spell. They keep insisting he’s innocent. I can’t tell if they’re just naive or unwilling to admit they wasted their feelings on the wrong person. As long as there’s no solid proof, he’ll keep jumping around like nothing happened.
Yu Qingxue: Don’t worry. I’ll make sure he can’t keep doing that.
Yu Qingxue: People who try to drag me down never get away with it.
Jiang Yuanxin: That smile emoji from you gives me chills. Scary. Lin Zhuoyan really is clueless. He didn’t even realize you’re someone he absolutely should not cross. He’d better prepare for what’s coming.
Yu Qingxue handed the task of posting the evidence to Fan Weixi.
Yu Qingxue: Since he was dating five people at once, we’ll expose one per day. Five days in a row.
Fan Weixi: Understood, President Yu.
By the time Yu Qingxue finished dealing with everything, it was almost noon.
Ning Xi asked her what she wanted to eat. Yu Qingxue lazily curled up in her arms and played with her fingers.
“With you here, I can eat anything,” she said.
Ning Xi smiled. “President Yu, did you eat candy this morning? You’re being so sweet.”
Yu Qingxue tilted her lips into a lazy smile. “Why don’t you taste and find out?”
Ning Xi’s eyes darkened slightly. “As you wish.”
