Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 52
In the end, Wei Nian didn’t use the handkerchief. She returned it to Wang You and said, “President Yu gave this to you. Take good care of it.”
Wang You pressed her lips together and put the handkerchief away without saying anything.
The conversation couldn’t continue after that. The four of them stood there awkwardly for a while until someone from the crew called for Wei Nian and Wang You to go film the next scene.
Yu Qingxue said, “There’s still time. Let’s go watch them act.”
Ning Xi, of course, had no reason to refuse.
In Asking the Demon, Wei Nian played Hu Xiaohan while Wang You played Shan Lian. Together, they formed the secondary couple.
This scene was the emotional climax of Hu Xiaohan and Shan Lian’s storyline. Jiang Yuanxin had come personally to oversee the shoot.
While Wei Nian and Wang You went to touch up their makeup, Jiang Yuanxin saw Yu Qingxue and Ning Xi arrive and waved them over.
“Director Jiang looks excited,” Ning Xi remarked.
Jiang Yuanxin covered his mouth and coughed. “Well, the next scene is a bit intense. This is Wang You’s first time filming something like this. Heh. Qingxue, pay close attention.”
He winked at Yu Qingxue, hinting that Wang You was about to fulfill her wish and film an intimate scene with someone she liked.
Yu Qingxue responded quietly, “I will.”
Ning Xi looked at her with concern and asked softly, “President Yu, are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” Yu Qingxue said, shaking her head. “I know the difference. This is just acting.”
Although Yu Qingxue made it sound easy, Ning Xi couldn’t relax.
Watching someone you care about get physically close with another person is difficult for anyone. Especially after that awkward moment earlier, it was obvious Wang You cared more about Wei Nian than she did about Yu Qingxue.
And yet Jiang Yuanxin, completely unaware of the situation, had encouraged Yu Qingxue to watch closely.
Jiang Yuanxin pulled out two pages and handed them to Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue. “I actually rewrote the script just for Wang You. The intimacy level has been increased. Take a look. Pretty intense, right?”
Yu Qingxue read just a couple of lines, and her hand trembled slightly as she held the pages.
Ning Xi quickly took the papers from her. “Don’t look at this. Let’s go prepare for our next scene.”
Yu Qingxue said expressionlessly, “I want to see it.”
Jiang Yuanxin shrugged. “What’s wrong with that? It’s just the dialogue that’s a little more bold. The actions are the same as before. Maybe a hug or two. Not like your scene coming up. You two have a kiss scene soon, remember?”
Ning Xi was unimpressed by his awkward little laugh.
“Director Jiang, here, take these back. We’re going to watch from over there. We won’t get in your way.” Ning Xi shoved the pages back into Jiang Yuanxin’s hands and firmly wrapped an arm around Yu Qingxue’s shoulders, guiding her to the side.
Jiang Yuanxin watched them walk off with confusion. “Something feels weird. Are they having a fight?”
He thought back on the conversation, glanced at the script in his hands, and suddenly understood.
Ning Xi must have misunderstood.
She probably thought Yu Qingxue had a thing for Wei Nian and had come to watch her film.
Yu Qingxue must not have told her that Wang You liked Wei Nian. That would explain why Ning Xi seemed so jealous.
No, that wouldn’t do. Yu Qingxue had finally found someone she liked, and he wasn’t going to stand by and watch a misunderstanding mess things up.
Jiang Yuanxin figured that since Ning Xi wasn’t an outsider, he could quietly explain that it was Wang You who liked Wei Nian. That way she wouldn’t stay upset with Yu Qingxue.
Meanwhile, Wei Nian and Wang You returned from makeup touch-ups. The set was already ready. The lighting crew and camera team were in place, and a staff member stepped in front of the lens with the clapperboard.
“Group B, Scene Fifteen, Take One.”
Clap.
“Action.”
Hu Xiaohan entered and threw the small woman in her arms onto the bed.
“Mm!” Shan Lian groaned as she hit the bed. Her eyes fluttered open, the mist in them clearing. The moment she saw Hu Xiaohan, her eyes widened in shock.
“Let go of me! Do you have any idea who I am? If my lady finds out what you’re doing, you’re dead!”
Hu Xiaohan looked down at Shan Lian, who was shouting until her face turned red. She leaned over, grabbed Shan Lian’s delicate chin, and gently brushed her thumb across her lower lip. A flash of menace flickered in her eyes.
“Keep yelling and I’ll mark you, believe it or not.”
Shan Lian froze, her body trembling as she curled up. Tears welled up in her eyes.
“You… you can’t mark me.”
Hu Xiaohan had only meant to scare her, but seeing the tears glistening in Shan Lian’s eyes stirred something in her. Her fingers gently stroked Shan Lian’s face, her touch growing more intimate.
Shan Lian became more and more frightened, but her body had no strength left. She could only look up at Hu Xiaohan in terror and desperation.
Hu Xiaohan’s fingers slid back to Shan Lian’s lips, slowly rubbing over them. When Shan Lian finally whimpered and parted her mouth slightly, Hu Xiaohan slipped her fingers inside.
Shan Lian’s eyes flew wide open in disbelief. Tears finally spilled from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks in large droplets.
Her face turned crimson. Her eyes filled with fear and resentment. Then suddenly, her expression hardened. She bit down, hard.
“Cut.”
As soon as Jiang Yuanxin called “Cut,” Wei Nian quickly pulled her hand back. Wang You was still shaking and crying. Wei Nian wrapped her arms around her, gently patting her back.
“Don’t be afraid. It was all fake. We were just acting. I would never treat you like that in real life.”
Her voice was soft and warm, completely different from her usual cheerful tone.
Wang You buried herself in Wei Nian’s arms like a frightened little rabbit. Wei Nian had always known Omegas to be independent and self-sufficient. None had ever acted like Wang You, so small and delicate, crying in a way that made Wei Nian want to protect her even more.
Her heart melted. Aside from holding her gently and speaking softly, Wei Nian did not know what else she could do.
They only let go when the makeup artist came over to apply touch-up makeup to Wei Nian’s fingers.
“I’m sorry. I got too into the role. That scene scared me a little,” Wang You said between quiet sobs.
Wei Nian listened to her soft voice and couldn’t help but blush.
“It’s alright.”
Not far away, Yu Qingxue stood frozen, watching the two of them. Something inside her felt like it was breaking. Under the stage lights, her eyes seemed dim and dull.
Ning Xi quietly placed her hand over Yu Qingxue’s eyes and spoke in a gentle voice.
“Qingxue, stop watching. Let’s go back and film our scene.”
Yu Qingxue’s eyelashes brushed against Ning Xi’s palm.
“Alright. Let’s go.”
Behind the camera, Jiang Yuanxin was smiling as he watched the interaction between Wei Nian and Wang You.
“Qingxue, did you see that just now…”
He turned around, ready to share the moment with her, but only caught sight of her and Ning Xi walking away.
“That’s odd. The next part is even more emotional. Why would they leave now?”
Ning Xi stayed quietly beside Yu Qingxue as they returned to Set A. Since the crew was still making final preparations, she took Yu Qingxue back to the trailer instead.
Inside the small enclosed space, it was just the two of them. When the door shut, everything went quiet.
Yu Qingxue let out a soft breath. Her tense body slowly began to relax. She tried to act casual.
“I thought I wouldn’t care.”
Ning Xi gently reached out to help smooth Yu Qingxue’s long hair.
“This isn’t your fault. Anyone would feel upset seeing someone they care about getting close to someone else.”
“Qingxue, don’t hide how you feel. When you’re with me, it’s okay to cry when you want to cry or smile when you want to smile. I’m your friend.”
Tears welled up in Yu Qingxue’s eyes. Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke with quiet frustration.
“Just now, Wei Nian hugged Youyou.”
“Wang You was deep in the scene. Wei Nian was comforting her.”
Yu Qingxue looked into Ning Xi’s eyes. Her own eyes were filled with tears.
“Can I hug you?”
A phrase flashed through Ning Xi’s mind.
So beautiful, even sadness makes her look gentle.
“You saw Wei Nian hug Wang You, so now you want to hug me?” Ning Xi said with a soft smile as she opened her arms.
“Come here.”
