Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 48
Wang You had already given up trying to resist.
Wang You: …You’re the one writing the script. Whatever you say goes.
Yu Qingxue: You really are my best friend, Youyou. Then I won’t be polite anymore.
Wang You: [nervous] What exactly do you mean by “not polite”?
Yu Qingxue: Don’t be scared. Even if Ning Xi finds out you “cheated,” she won’t tell anyone. She has to protect me. She can’t let the world know about our little secret relationship. Once I’m officially with Ning Xi, I’ll explain the truth to her. Then you’ll go back to being a clean, innocent Wang You. How’s that? I’ve thought of everything, haven’t I?
Wang You: #@&%#@&% That’s just perfect [smile]
But to make Wang You “cheat,” she needed a target first.
Yu Qingxue looked through all the Alphas in the crew and didn’t find a single one who fit.
Anyone who could steal Wang You from her would have to stand out in some way. They needed to be young, talented, attractive, or have a good personality. At least one of those.
Unfortunately, no Alpha on the team fit any of those categories.
Yu Qingxue’s frustration came to an end when Wei Nian was discharged from the hospital and returned to the set.
At lunchtime, Ning Xi received a message from Wei Nian.
“She said she’s being discharged this afternoon. Since filming ends early today, should we hold a small welcome dinner for her?” Ning Xi asked.
Yu Qingxue nodded. “Her injury was partly my fault. Whether out of kindness or responsibility, I should treat her to a meal.”
That afternoon, after shooting wrapped, Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue brought Jiang Yuanxin and Wang You with them. The four of them went to pick up Wei Nian and then headed to a restaurant they had reserved.
On the way to the hospital, Jiang Yuanxin was driving and said, “Say what you want, but Wei Nian really is brave. She didn’t even flinch when acting through a scene with a hitman hired by Bai Qinian. That’s impressive. I’m planning a new movie, and the female lead is a double-sided assassin. I’m thinking about casting her. What do you think, Qingxue?”
Yu Qingxue agreed. “I think that could work. I used to think her acting was average, but after this incident, she stayed calm and composed. She can handle pressure. She’s got potential.”
Worried that Ning Xi might feel left out, Yu Qingxue quickly added, “The female lead in that movie isn’t supposed to be particularly beautiful, so it wouldn’t suit you. Otherwise, I’d offer you the role in a heartbeat. Don’t worry. After Ask the Devil finishes filming, there will be no shortage of good roles for you.”
Ning Xi smiled. “I understand. There are so many great films out there. I couldn’t possibly star in all of them.”
“And I’m not in a rush either. Wang You only has two more weeks before she finishes filming. President Yu, maybe you should give her more attention.”
Yu Qingxue had been afraid Ning Xi might feel overlooked, but instead, Ning Xi was the one worried that Wang You might be feeling left out.
After all, Yu Qingxue had known Wang You longer, and they did have a closer bond.
Completely unaware of the subtle tension between the three women, Jiang Yuanxin added cheerfully, “You’re overthinking it, Ning Xi. Qingxue and Wang You are super close. Even if she forgets everything else, she’ll still remember to help Wang You get good resources. The friendship between Omega girls is something people like us just don’t get.”
Wang You (in her head): He’s right. He doesn’t understand. I’m even willing to play the bad guy in Yu Qingxue’s love story. Would you do that?
“If you’re jealous, you can find a Beta guy and be best buddies with him,” Yu Qingxue teased.
“No thanks. I’m afraid my wife would throw him straight into jail,” Jiang Yuanxin said with a shiver.
“Don’t listen to him,” Yu Qingxue explained to Ning Xi. “His wife, Lan Xia, is a lawyer. She runs her own law firm.”
“That’s amazing,” Ning Xi said. Lan Xia was probably around the same age as Jiang Yuanxin, maybe in her twenties. Having her own law firm at such a young age meant she was really impressive.
Jiang Yuanxin tried to act modest. “She’s alright,” he said, though his grin was almost too wide to contain.
“Actually, there’s only one single person in this car. Time to start looking.”
Yu Qingxue and Wang You immediately exchanged nervous glances.
Jiang Yuanxin was clearly talking about Wang You. But Ning Xi misunderstood and thought he was referring to her. She smiled and said, “Love is something that can’t be forced.”
Yu Qingxue quickly added, “Some people enjoy companionship. Others prefer being alone. Maybe the timing just hasn’t come yet. True love could show up any day now. There’s no need to worry.”
“You’re right,” Jiang Yuanxin replied.
Seeing that the misunderstanding had passed, Yu Qingxue casually changed the subject. “How long until we get to the hospital?”
“Just a few more minutes,” Jiang Yuanxin replied. “If it hadn’t been for that traffic jam earlier, we’d already be there.”
Three minutes later, Jiang Yuanxin pulled the car up in front of the hospital. When he saw Wei Nian, he rolled down the window and called out, “Wei Nian, over here!”
Wei Nian looked up and saw Jiang Yuanxin waving. She smiled brightly and ran over to the car, greeting the group inside.
“President Yu, Director Jiang, Ning Xi, Wang You, it’s been a while!”
Ning Xi opened the car door with a smile. “Your face healed well. It looks just like before the injury. Was it boring at the hospital?”
Wei Nian got into the car and sat down. “I watched TV for five days straight, from morning to night. I feel like I’ve learned a lot. Tomorrow, you’ll definitely be amazed by my improved acting.”
While Ning Xi was chatting with Wei Nian, Yu Qingxue was quietly observing her.
She had never really looked at Wei Nian carefully before. Just now, she realized that Wei Nian had bold eyebrows and bright eyes, a cheerful smile that still carried a bit of cuteness, and an energetic, outgoing personality.
Hmm… she seemed to be the same age as Ning Xi.
Yu Qingxue turned to glance at Wang You with a meaningful look.
Wang You instantly felt a chill run down her spine. She really wanted to ask if Yu Qingxue was coming up with another crazy idea.
Jiang Yuanxin said, “Alright, let’s go. Wei Nian, we’re taking you to De Yi Lou for a proper welcome-back dinner. President Yu is treating us tonight, so order whatever you like. Just one rule: no alcohol. We still have filming tomorrow.”
“Thank you, President Yu. After so many days of eating plain food, I’m going to make up for it with some serious meat,” Wei Nian said with a laugh.
Ning Xi added, “You seem more cheerful and relaxed than before.”
Wei Nian scratched the back of her head a little shyly. “I mean, I came face-to-face with a hitman. What is there to be afraid of now? Honestly, I used to be a bit jealous of you, but I’ve totally gotten over it. Everyone has their own kind of charm. Jealousy only makes you ugly. It’s completely useless.”
Yu Qingxue saw how engaged Ning Xi and Wei Nian were in their conversation and figured they wouldn’t look back at her. She quickly pulled out her phone and sent a message to Wang You.
Yu Qingxue: Youyou, congratulations on your new affair!
Wang You felt her phone buzz, glanced at Yu Qingxue, and immediately got a bad feeling. If Yu Qingxue was texting her in secret, it definitely wasn’t anything good.
Wang You: What affair?
Yu Qingxue: Your “cheating partner,” of course. Aren’t you happy?
Wang You: … I’m absolutely thrilled [smile]
