Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 36
Bai Lianlian really didn’t stay under the radar for long.
That very afternoon, Ning Xi heard from her assistant, Ren Rong, that Bai Lianlian had been taken directly from the neighboring film set by the police.
Ren Rong said, “I heard they’re taking her to the hospital to verify her pheromone signature sequence. That’s strange though… wasn’t Bai Piaopiao supposed to be underage?”
Ning Xi replied, “We’ll find out once the police complete their investigation and release the results.”
As for the online slander against Yu Qingxue, Ning Xi, and Wei Nian, Yu Qingxue had already, under her lawyer’s advice, gone to the notary office to preserve evidence. Once she files a lawsuit against Weibo, they will be able to obtain the identities of all users who posted defamatory comments.
With evidence in hand and clear targets, each person involved will be held accountable. No one will be able to escape the consequences of the law.
Ning Xi asked Yu Qingxue, “What if some of them are minors? Would you let them off?”
In her previous life, Ning Xi had experienced a similar situation. The person who defamed her was a minor, and her team had decided not to press charges out of fear it would damage her image of kindness with the public. They worried that outsiders would see her as cruel, so they dropped the case.
Yu Qingxue looked genuinely surprised. “Are minors not citizens of Huaguo? Do they not need to take legal responsibility?”
“But they are underage…”
Yu Qingxue’s gaze became more puzzled. “When did you start thinking like such a martyr? Even if a baby ruins someone’s clothes, their parents still have to pay for it. If we start letting minors off too easily, then more and more of them will think they can break the law and hurt others without consequence, simply offering a half-hearted apology to escape punishment.”
“Besides, I’m an Omega. Only Omegas can give birth to the rarest Alphas. Are those minors more valuable than I am?”
Ning Xi answered honestly, “No, they’re not.”
“If someone as precious as I am still has to face legal consequences when I break the law, then minors, who are less precious than me, have no reason to be exempt.”
Ning Xi was immediately convinced.
“You’re right, President Yu. Minors shouldn’t be forgiven so easily when they make serious mistakes. They must take responsibility under the law.”
For the first time, Ning Xi felt that this world of six genders had its merits.
Yu Qingxue nodded in satisfaction. “Being weak is not a valid excuse to escape legal accountability. The bottom line must never be compromised. Please don’t ever adopt that overly merciful mindset again. It’s frightening.”
Around three o’clock, Wei Nian sent a message on WeChat.
Wei Nian: The hospital has completed the test. They confirmed that my violent reaction this morning was caused by Bai Piaopiao. The police have already taken her back to the station for investigation.
Wei Nian: I can’t believe Bai Piaopiao has actually gone through differentiation.
Ning Xi: That wasn’t Bai Piaopiao.
Wei Nian: What do you mean?
Ning Xi: It was her sister, Bai Lianlian.
Wei Nian was completely confused.
Bai Piaopiao has a sister? And her sister looks exactly like her? Are they twins?
Ning Xi didn’t explain further, because just then, Bai Lianlian’s father, Bai Qinian, suddenly showed up at the door of Room 1788, repeatedly pressing the doorbell and demanding to see Yu Qingxue.
Ning Xi turned to Yu Qingxue and asked, “President Yu, should I let him in?”
“First, file a complaint with the hotel. We’re being harassed and not a single staff member has intervened,” Yu Qingxue said, frowning.
Ning Xi called the front desk and reported Bai Qinian. The receptionist explained, “This gentleman is the father of the guest in Room 1766. He has a key card, so we can’t stop him from walking around. However, if you feel harassed, the hotel can assist you in contacting the police.”
“Then call the police,” Ning Xi replied and hung up. She walked to the door and opened it.
Bai Qinian had just opened his mouth to say “Yu,” when he was confronted with the sight of a tall, beautiful woman. The repelling effect between Alphas made him instinctively frown.
Ning Xi’s strong and dominant pheromones didn’t seem affected by him at all. “Please come in, Mr. Bai.”
Bai Qinian entered and saw Yu Qingxue sitting calmly on the sofa. He rushed over, looking worried and distressed.
“Qingxue, Uncle Bai has never asked you for anything before, but this time, I’m begging you. For the sake of the long friendship between the Bai and Yu families, please let Piaopiao go. She didn’t mean any harm.”
Yu Qingxue looked genuinely surprised. “Uncle Bai, what are you talking about? What happened to Piaopiao? The set was on break today, and I’ve been in the hotel all day. When did I ever do anything to her?”
Bai Qinian’s eyes reddened. “It was that actor Wei Nian from your production team. She’s accusing Piaopiao of hurting her on purpose. That’s impossible. Piaopiao is only sixteen years old. How could a child like that do something so terrible? I’m sure that person, Wei Nian, was just angry that Piaopiao rejected her and is trying to take revenge by framing her.”
“Qingxue, Wei Nian is part of your team. If you just say the word, she’ll drop the charges. Please, help me just this once. I’ll never forget what you’ve done for us.”
Bai Qinian’s hair was a mess from pulling at it. His shirt was wrinkled and untidy. He looked like a desperate, pitiful father.
Yu Qingxue frowned. “I can try calling Wei Nian, but I can’t promise she’ll listen to me.”
Bai Qinian looked deeply grateful. “Thank you, Qingxue. I knew you wouldn’t leave her in trouble.”
Yu Qingxue sneered inwardly. Whether she would help or not depended entirely on who needed saving.
Ning Xi had already messaged Wei Nian ahead of time. As soon as Yu Qingxue called, Wei Nian answered and immediately began crying.
“President Yu, my face is ruined. My entire future is gone. I don’t care about anything else now. I just want Bai Piaopiao to get the punishment she deserves. Please, you have to help me. Even if you kick me off the production, I won’t complain. As long as you help me make sure Bai Piaopiao is held accountable, I’ll do anything for you. No regrets, no complaints.”
“Wei Nian, try to calm down first,” Yu Qingxue said gently, glancing at Bai Qinian, whose face had grown stiff and pale.
“President Yu, I am the victim. How could I possibly stay calm? Right now, I honestly want to kill Bai Piaopiao’s entire family. Anyone who could raise such a vicious woman can’t be good people either. They’re all disgusting, rotten scum!”
Wei Nian’s voice was full of rage. Even through the phone, the threat in her words made Bai Qinian tremble. His facial muscles twitched with fear, and he instinctively stepped back.
Yu Qingxue’s voice was calm but meaningful. “Get some rest for now. The guilty one should bear the consequences. No one else should be punished in her place.” She placed particular emphasis on the words “no one else.”
It was clear Bai Qinian still had no intention of revealing that the person involved was actually Bai Lianlian pretending to be Bai Piaopiao. Was he really planning to let Bai Piaopiao take the fall for her sister?
After ending the call, Yu Qingxue looked at the visibly shaken Bai Qinian and said, “Uncle Bai, you heard her. Wei Nian is in a very unstable mental state right now. If you push her too far, she might really do something extreme.”
Bai Qinian’s expression kept shifting. “But Piaopiao, she really is innocent!”
Yu Qingxue responded, “If the police have enough evidence, then it will be very difficult for Bai Piaopiao to escape punishment. But I was with Wei Nian at the hospital this morning. The doctor said her violent outburst was triggered by an Omega releasing pheromones intentionally. Since Piaopiao hasn’t differentiated yet, it’s possible things are not as serious as you think.”
Just as Bai Qinian was about to say something, the doorbell rang. Ning Xi walked over and opened it. Two police officers stepped inside and approached Bai Qinian.
“Are you the one who has been harassing hotel guests? Come with us, please.”
Before Bai Qinian even understood what was happening, he was already handcuffed. As they were taking him out the door, he finally reacted and tried to plead.
“I know Yu Qingxue. I wasn’t harassing her!”
“I know Yu Qingxue too. Does she know who you are? Be quiet. Say another word and we’ll hold you for ten more days.”
“I want to speak to my lawyer. You can’t stop me from doing that,” Bai Qinian said with a dark expression, realizing there was no reasoning with them.
“That’s fine. You can call them once we’re at the station.”
After Bai Qinian was taken away, Ning Xi suddenly thought of something.
“President Yu, didn’t you say every person who differentiates into an Omega has a unique pheromone scent profile stored in the national database? Is it possible the police didn’t check the database and just assumed she was Bai Piaopiao based on her ID card?”
Yu Qingxue nodded. “There are billions of pheromone records in the national system. A full comparison would take at least a week. Since Bai Piaopiao’s identity appears clear, the police probably did not question it and skipped the comparison to save time.”
“But if someone files a report and provides the suspect’s real identity, the police can isolate her scent profile and compare it to the record manually. That process is much faster.”
Ning Xi asked, “When do you plan to file the report?”
Yu Qingxue replied, “Well, Bai Qinian will likely be released on bail in about two hours. Let’s wait and see if he decides to tell the police Bai Lianlian’s true identity on his own.”
