Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 34
By the time Jiang Yuanxin and Yu Qingxue arrived, the crew doctor had just been called over. Wei Nian had landed face-first when she fell, and now her entire face was bloodied. The doctor was disinfecting and dressing her wounds.
“What happened? Did anyone call an ambulance?” Jiang Yuanxin asked, holding back his frustration as he turned to the A-unit director.
The director stepped away from behind the monitor, shaking his head.
“See for yourself. She did this to herself.”
Yu Qingxue scanned the crowd. Not seeing Ning Xi, she pulled aside a crew member.
“Where’s Ning Xi?”
The staffer pointed toward the group gathered around Wei Nian.
“Over there, President Yu. She’s with Wei Nian.”
“Thank you.”
Yu Qingxue walked over and spotted Ning Xi behind the doctor, standing at Wei Nian’s side. Her black eyes were as cold as frost, calmly watching Wei Nian scream through the blood on her face.
Yu Qingxue’s heart tensed slightly.
“Ning Xi.”
Ning Xi turned her head. The icy glaze in her eyes melted the moment she saw Yu Qingxue. A soft, familiar smile appeared on her face.
“President Yu.” Ning Xi walked over, her tone apologetic.
“Did this delay your shoot? If I’d just pulled her back in time, maybe none of this would’ve happened.”
Yu Qingxue didn’t like how Ning Xi was taking the blame without knowing the full story.
“I don’t know what happened yet. Come explain it to me.”
With the A-unit in chaos, Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue stepped outside the set to a quieter spot.
Ning Xi recounted everything that had just occurred in detail.
“Everyone has a different personality. Maybe Wei Nian doesn’t respond well to being advised or corrected, especially by someone she doesn’t know very well.”
Yu Qingxue didn’t agree.
“A couple of comments hardly count as controlling or lecturing. The director’s shouting just now was ten times worse. If she can’t even handle that, she has no business being an actress.”
“I remember seeing her talking to Bai Piaopiao earlier this morning,” Yu Qingxue added.
Ning Xi nodded.
“Yes, they were talking under a tree.”
“Do you remember how she looked during that conversation?”
Ning Xi thought for a moment.
“She seemed to like Bai Piaopiao. Her face turned red while they were talking.”
“Then Bai Piaopiao ran up and asked for my name, and Wei Nian followed. I had a faint feeling she was hostile toward me.”
Piecing it all together, Ning Xi gave a hesitant conclusion.
“So maybe Wei Nian likes Bai Piaopiao. Bai Piaopiao is interested in me. Then I warned Wei Nian to stay away from her. That triggered an emotional reaction during the scene?”
“You think that’s the reason?” Yu Qingxue asked.
Ning Xi shook her head.
“I haven’t interacted with Wei Nian much, but she never struck me as impulsive. Just getting jealous shouldn’t be enough to make her snap like that.”
“I agree,” Yu Qingxue said.
Ning Xi felt some of her unease ease at Yu Qingxue’s calm tone.
“President Yu, do you know something I don’t?”
Yu Qingxue replied,
“I’m not sure yet. When the ambulance gets here, come with me to the hospital.”
There was a top-tier hospital near Beihai Film Studio, and the ambulance arrived quickly. Nurses helped the blood-covered Wei Nian onto the stretcher. Yu Qingxue turned to Jiang Yuanxin and said,
“The crew gets the rest of the day off. Reschedule any scenes involving Wei Nian.”
Jiang Yuanxin’s tight frown finally relaxed.
“I thought for sure you were going to recast her. Since when did you get so soft? You’re even going to the hospital with her?”
He gave her a teasing look.
“Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for Wei Nian instead?”
When he saw Yu Qingxue’s unimpressed expression, he slapped his own face.
“Alright, alright, no more jokes. You two go ahead. I’ll handle things here.”
Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue followed the ambulance to the hospital. Wei Nian kept her head down the entire way, shielding her face, not looking at either of them.
As they got out of the car, Ning Xi noticed her body trembling slightly.
“Are you in a lot of pain?” she asked gently.
Yu Qingxue didn’t stop her from showing concern. Instead, she turned to the doctor preparing to examine Wei Nian.
“Excuse me. I’d like to request an additional pheromone fluctuation test for her.”
The doctor was momentarily surprised but nodded.
“Alright. I’ll write up a slip. After payment, you can take her straight to the lab.”
When Yu Qingxue returned with the doctor, she overheard Wei Nian whispering to Ning Xi,
“I’m sorry, Ning Xi. I don’t know what came over me. It just… happened.”
After their earlier conversation, Ning Xi had a strong feeling this wasn’t just a personal outburst. Something deeper was at play.
Yu Qingxue stepped forward.
“Don’t be in a rush to apologize. Whether or not it’s your fault, we’ll decide after the test results come back.”
Wei Nian looked up at her, face streaked with blood from multiple cuts.
“President Yu, what do you mean?”
“It means I haven’t decided whether to replace you as the third lead. So don’t start panicking just yet.”
While the doctor tended to Wei Nian’s wounds, Yu Qingxue asked Ning Xi to accompany her downstairs to pay the fees.
“What exactly is a pheromone fluctuation test?” Ning Xi asked. The term hadn’t appeared in the memories she inherited, suggesting it wasn’t commonly used.
Yu Qingxue explained,
“Omegas don’t only release pheromones during heat. Outside of heat, a rational Omega can control whether or not to emit them.”
“If an Alpha smells an Omega’s pheromones outside their sensitivity phase, it can still trigger a fluctuation. The mildest effect is irritability. The more serious reaction forces the Alpha into a sudden sensitivity state.”
“And a forced sensitivity phase makes Alphas more aggressive. They can seriously harm an Omega without meaning to. That’s why in Huaguo, there are laws. If an Omega intentionally releases pheromones and causes an Alpha to injure someone else—especially another Omega—they can be held criminally liable.”
Ning Xi asked,
“So this test can identify which Omega triggered the Alpha’s pheromone fluctuation?”
Yu Qingxue gave her an approving look.
“Exactly. It shows the time frame of the abnormal fluctuation and the unique scent profile that triggered it.”
“Each Omega has a specific scent sequence tied to their ID. If you know which Omegas the Alpha interacted with during that time, you can narrow it down quickly. Even if you don’t, the scent can still be matched with national records. It’s not complicated, just time-consuming.”
Ning Xi silently marveled at the complexity of a six-gender world.
When they returned, the doctor had just finished treating Wei Nian. Her wounds had been disinfected and wrapped in fresh gauze.
“Alphas have strong bodies. These surface injuries will fully heal in about a week with no scars left behind. Make sure the wounds stay dry, change the dressing every other day, eat light, and avoid spicy or greasy food. If she follows instructions, she could be fully healed in four or five days.”
After finishing with the bandages, the doctor saw the payment slip in Yu Qingxue’s hand and said,
“Take this upstairs for the test. The results should be out in two or three minutes.”
Wei Nian, now wrapped up like a mummy, silently followed behind the two, her head lowered.
The test was completed quickly, and within three minutes, a nurse came out of the lab, face serious as she held up the results.
“Are you Wei Nian? According to this, you came into contact with Omega pheromones between 8 and 9 a.m. this morning. The hospital recommends reporting this to the authorities.”
Yu Qingxue took the lab report and turned to Wei Nian.
“You should know which Omegas were near you during that time. How would you like to handle this?”
Her tone was gentle, as though she were entirely open to however Wei Nian wished to proceed.
Ning Xi couldn’t help but smile inwardly. Yu Qingxue’s subtle probing was oddly endearing.
Neither of them believed in turning the other cheek. If Wei Nian chose not to report it, Yu Qingxue would likely remove her from the production altogether.
Wei Nian stood stunned for a moment.
She’d only seen one Omega between 8 and 9 a.m.—Yu Qingxue herself. But even when they were closest, they’d stayed about two meters apart. If pheromones had been released, Ning Xi would’ve been the first to react.
“But… the only Omega I was near this morning was you, President Yu.”
Wei Nian frowned, struggling to remember anything else, but came up empty.
Yu Qingxue raised her brows slightly.
“What about Bai Piaopiao? She’s an Omega too.”
Ning Xi’s dark eyes flickered with surprise.
Wei Nian voiced the same doubt Ning Xi felt.
“President Yu, Piaopiao hasn’t differentiated yet. How could she be an Omega?”
Yu Qingxue’s pale eyes glimmered with a hint of irony.
“She still wants to cash in on being a six-gender idol. You really think she’d admit she’s already differentiated?”
“Right now, I just need you to tell me—if the culprit is Bai Piaopiao, do you want to report her to the police? Whether or not she’s actually an Omega will come out during the investigation.”
Wei Nian’s expression shifted, her eyes full of inner turmoil.
After a long pause, she finally said quietly,
“Even though I was the only one hurt today, my outburst during filming almost dragged Ning Xi into it. If I don’t report it, it wouldn’t be fair to her.”
She looked Yu Qingxue in the eye.
“President Yu, I want to report it.”
Yu Qingxue nodded.
“Alright. I respect your decision. Get some rest over the next few days. Use the time to study your lines. Don’t come back to set having forgotten everything.”
“Thank you for still giving me a chance,” Wei Nian said, her eyes lighting up with surprise and gratitude.
Yu Qingxue replied simply,
“No need to thank me.”
Decisions determine destiny. Wei Nian had made the right one.
Ning Xi was silently speechless.
So Wei Nian really didn’t realize she was being tested?
Or maybe she knew Yu Qingxue well enough to understand what she was doing?
Yu Qingxue reported the incident to the hospital and requested police assistance. She also arranged for Wei Nian to be admitted, making it easier for the investigation to proceed.
“Let’s go. Time to head back to the hotel.”
Since they had left in a rush without sunglasses or masks, someone at the hospital had already recorded them and posted the footage online. Soon, a new hashtag appeared on trending searches:
#YuQingxue and NingXi at the Hospital Together
By the time they exited, fans had already begun gathering outside.
Ning Xi bought two masks from a nurse, handed one to Yu Qingxue, and then asked if there was another way out. A helpful nurse led them through a winding route, exiting via a side door in the inpatient wing.
They took a taxi back to the hotel.
Once inside Room 1788, Yu Qingxue let out a soft sigh and collapsed lazily onto the sofa, waving a hand toward Ning Xi.
“Get me some water.”
Ning Xi poured her a glass of warm water and brought it over. Glancing at the time—it was already past noon—she asked,
“Are you hungry, President Yu? What would you like to eat? I’ll order for you.”
Yu Qingxue listed off two of her favorite dishes, set the glass on the coffee table, and flopped back down on the couch again.
She wasn’t tired—just determined to be lazy.
Neither of the dishes she wanted were available from the hotel kitchen, so Ning Xi sat across from her and pulled out her phone to order delivery.
While they waited, Ning Xi asked curiously,
“President Yu, how did you know Bai Piaopiao had already differentiated into an Omega? She’s only sixteen. Isn’t that a little early?”
Yu Qingxue lazily lifted her eyes, their light hue shimmering.
“Want to know?”
“Of course.”
Her long, curled lashes fluttered as she closed her eyes briefly, a faint smile playing on her lips.
“If you really want to know, you’ll have to feed me lunch. I’m too tired to lift a finger.”
