Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 32
Ning Xi noticed the driver and gave him a polite, gentle nod.
“Thank you for driving us back. Get some rest.”
The driver met her deep black eyes and completely forgot what he had meant to say. After a pause, he glanced at Yu Qingxue.
“Did President Yu fall asleep?”
He knew very well that President Yu disliked physical contact with others.
But she hated being woken up even more.
Ning Xi looked down at the sleeping woman in her arms, a small smile playing on her lips.
“She’s sleeping soundly.”
“You both should get some rest too,” the driver said. The scene in front of him was too serene, too beautiful. He immediately abandoned the idea of waking Yu Qingxue.
At the hotel lobby, a new front desk clerk who didn’t recognize Ning Xi watched her carry a woman through the doors. She simply thought, What incredible arm strength, then turned her attention back to her work. After all, two people arriving at a hotel late at night was nothing unusual.
Ning Xi carried Yu Qingxue back to the suite, closed the door quietly, then turned toward Yu Qingxue’s room.
Both rooms had the same layout. Ning Xi had unpacked Yu Qingxue’s luggage herself, so she knew exactly where everything was.
She gently laid Yu Qingxue on the bed. Yu Qingxue frowned slightly and turned on her side, curling up and hugging herself.
Her hair fell along the side of her neck, and she scratched at it uncomfortably.
She was still wearing a tight T-shirt and fitted pants. Sleeping in those all night would be uncomfortable, and a bad night’s sleep would affect her performance the next day.
Ning Xi brushed her hair back, removed her shoes, and walked over to the wardrobe to get her some pajamas.
Inside, three sets of sleepwear were hanging. One was a casual home set with both top and bottom. The other two were silk nightgowns with thin straps. One of them, in dark green, was the same one Ning Xi had worn when she stayed at Yu Qingxue’s house.
She hadn’t expected Yu Qingxue to bring it along.
Ning Xi felt a strange emotion stir in her chest.
Yu Qingxue probably had many sleepwear options. Why bring this one?
She reached for the pale pink silk nightgown instead and returned to the bed. She gently lifted Yu Qingxue up, letting her lean against her shoulder, and began helping her out of her clothes with careful hands.
Halfway through, Ning Xi suddenly remembered.
She was no longer just an ordinary woman. She was a female Alpha, and Yu Qingxue was a female Omega.
Helping her change clothes, no matter the reason, didn’t seem entirely appropriate.
She paused for a moment, then looked down at Yu Qingxue. Her brows were still drawn tight, her sleep clearly not restful.
Might as well finish. It was almost done anyway.
If Yu Qingxue asked about it tomorrow, she would simply tell the truth.
From that point on, Ning Xi made sure not to let her eyes wander or her hands linger. A light sheen of sweat formed on her forehead as she silently quickened her pace.
When only the undergarments remained, she slipped the sleepwear on first, then carefully unfastened and removed the inner garments underneath.
Thankfully, it was a strappy nightgown. A long-sleeved one would have been more troublesome.
And thankfully, Yu Qingxue was a deep sleeper. Aside from frowning slightly from the disturbance, she showed no sign of waking.
Ning Xi tucked the blanket around her, folded the removed clothes neatly and set them aside. She left the bedroom and finally let out a breath.
All that just to help someone change clothes, and she was sweating from nerves.
The next morning, Yu Qingxue slowly opened her eyes and stretched lazily. Her movements suddenly froze.
Something felt off.
She sat up and realized she was wearing a nightgown. Her clothes from the night before were folded neatly by the bed, yet she had no memory of returning to her room.
No memory of changing clothes either.
There was a knock at the door. She got out of bed barefoot and opened it.
“Ning Xi, you’re already ready?”
“Yes. President Yu, what would you like for breakfast? I’ll order room service.”
Yu Qingxue subtly looked Ning Xi over and nodded to herself in approval.
The outfit she wore was one she had picked out. As expected, it looked great on her.
“Steamed soup dumplings,” she answered casually.
“Alright.”
Ning Xi responded, but didn’t leave immediately. Her eyes landed on Yu Qingxue’s bare feet, and her brows knit together slightly.
“Why aren’t you wearing shoes?”
Yu Qingxue’s feet were slender and elegant, her toenails painted a deep red like blossoms in the snow.
She glanced down and replied indifferently,
“I forgot.”
Ning Xi let out a soft sigh, walked into the bedroom, picked up a pair of slippers, and crouched down in front of her.
“Lift your foot.”
Yu Qingxue blinked at Ning Xi, stunned for a moment. Then, obediently, she lifted her foot.
Ning Xi held her delicate ankle with one hand and guided her foot into the slipper with the other.
Her palm was warm and slightly rough, sending a tingling sensation up Yu Qingxue’s leg straight to her chest.
“I can do it myself.” Yu Qingxue bent down quickly and slipped on the other slipper herself, a little flustered.
There was something about Ning Xi’s touch that made her heart race in a way she didn’t quite know how to handle. She couldn’t let her touch her again.
Ning Xi stood up.
“The floor’s cold. Going barefoot isn’t good for your health. I hope you don’t think I’m being overbearing.”
Yu Qingxue placed her right hand over the place on her chest where that warmth still lingered. Her eyes dropped to Ning Xi’s rough but steady hands.
“I don’t.”
Ning Xi smiled.
“I’ll go order your dumplings.”
Ever since taking on the role of Feng Yunyan, Ning Xi had absorbed some of her domineering and possessive traits. She was aware of the change, but since Yu Qingxue didn’t seem to mind, she gradually stopped caring. It even started to feel natural, as if her possessiveness toward Yu Qingxue was just the way things were meant to be.
She went to the living room and called room service, ordering steamed dumplings and preserved egg porridge.
Ten minutes later, Yu Qingxue came out, freshly dressed and washed. The breakfast had arrived and Ning Xi had already set the table.
They sat down to eat. Ning Xi picked up a dumpling and placed it in Yu Qingxue’s bowl. Yu Qingxue took a gentle bite. The savory broth inside spilled out slightly and clung to her red lips.
Ning Xi reached for a napkin to offer it, but paused when she saw Yu Qingxue extend her tongue and quickly lick the broth away.
Yu Qingxue noticed Ning Xi staring at her, still holding the napkin, and raised an eyebrow.
“Aren’t you eating?”
Ning Xi snapped out of it and set the napkin down, trying to sound casual.
“It’s nothing. I just remembered I have a lot of scenes today. I was worried I might mess up and disappoint you or Director Jiang.”
Yu Qingxue replied softly,
“You’re the lead actress I chose. How could you possibly disappoint me?”
Ning Xi blinked in surprise, then broke into a smile and nodded.
“You’re right, President Yu.”
After breakfast, they prepared to leave for the set.
They took the elevator down to the underground parking garage. The driver was already waiting inside the van.
As soon as he saw Yu Qingxue, he rolled down the window.
“Good morning, President Yu.”
Yu Qingxue gave a slight nod.
“Good morning. I have a question for you.”
“I’ll wait in the van,” Ning Xi said, then stepped aside.
The driver got out of the car. Yu Qingxue asked, “Did Ning Xi and I come back in this van last night?”
“Yes, President Yu.”
“And did I fall asleep? How did I get back to the hotel?”
The driver looked slightly uneasy.
“Ms. Ning helped you back upstairs.”
The driver didn’t dare tell the full truth. He was afraid Yu Qingxue would be angry if she found out he hadn’t stopped Ning Xi from carrying her.
But Yu Qingxue immediately noticed something off in his expression. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and the sharpness in her gaze made the driver’s heart tremble. He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and forced a bitter smile.
“President Yu, I’m sorry, I lied. It was actually Ning Xi who carried you back to the hotel. I wanted to ask her to put you down, but you were sleeping so soundly, and she didn’t seem like someone with bad intentions… so I didn’t stop her. Please punish me if I was wrong.”
Ning Xi carried her?
Yu Qingxue felt her ears grow warm.
“Forget it. I won’t punish you this time.” She turned and walked to the other side of the van, climbing in without looking back.
The driver let out a huge sigh of relief.
Thank goodness.
But then a thought crossed his mind. President Yu was normally strict and never let anything slide. Why let this go?
He stood outside the car, puzzled, until Yu Qingxue knocked on the window to hurry him up. Only then did he snap out of it and get in to drive them to the set.
As the van cruised smoothly down the road, Yu Qingxue rested her chin on her hand and gazed out at the rows of trees flashing past. In a casual tone, she said,
“Thank you for carrying me back to the hotel yesterday.”
Ning Xi responded,
“You’re welcome, President Yu. It was nothing.”
Yu Qingxue made a soft sound in response, then added,
“And thank you for changing my clothes.”
In the reflection of the window, she could clearly see Ning Xi’s face. Her gaze didn’t blink. Ning Xi’s eyes shifted slightly to the right.
“As long as you slept well, that’s all that matters.”
So it really had been Ning Xi.
But Ning Xi wasn’t usually someone so bold. Was it because she had gotten too immersed in the character?
Yu Qingxue’s fingers, resting against her pale cheek, curled slightly.
Ning Xi worried that Yu Qingxue might be upset. After all, as an Alpha, she carried a natural sense of threat for an Omega. Maybe her actions had crossed a line.
She felt the need to explain herself.
“President Yu, please don’t worry. When I was helping you change, I didn’t see anything.”
“You didn’t see anything?” Yu Qingxue turned to look at her. “Then how did you manage to help me change?”
Ning Xi told her everything, step by step.
Yu Qingxue was silent for a moment.
That’s so like her.
“If you’re really upset, you can punish me,” Ning Xi said. “It was my fault, after all.”
“Punish you?” Yu Qingxue sat up a little straighter, her interest clearly piqued.
“And how should I do that?”
“Anything is fine,” Ning Xi replied calmly, then added, “As long as it doesn’t break the law or go against morals.”
Yu Qingxue studied her for a moment, then turned back to look out the window.
“I’ll keep that in mind. When I figure out a punishment, I’ll let you know.”
That day, they were filming the first encounter between Feng Yunyan and Dong Lingxue. Supporting roles Hu Xiaohan, played by Wei Nian, and Shan Lian, played by Wang You, also had scenes.
When Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue stepped out of the van at the set, they noticed Wei Nian standing under a tree, speaking to a petite girl. The two of them stood very close, clearly beyond the boundaries of normal friendship.
The girl said something to Wei Nian that made her blush. She reached up to scratch the back of her head, tousling her short hair. Normally composed and cool, this Alpha suddenly looked like a shy schoolgirl.
Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue headed to the makeup room. As they passed by, the petite girl suddenly ran over and blocked their path.
“What a coincidence, we meet again! I’m Bai Piaopiao. What’s your name?”
Yesterday, Bai Piaopiao had been wearing sunglasses, so Ning Xi hadn’t noticed her face. All she remembered was Ren Rong warning her: Bai Piaopiao was underage. If she didn’t want to be mistaken for someone inappropriate, she needed to keep her distance.
So, the moment Bai Piaopiao suddenly appeared in front of her, Ning Xi instinctively pulled Yu Qingxue back two steps, holding her hand and protectively steadying her waist.
Bai Piaopiao stood frozen.
Am I really that scary?
Wei Nian jogged over from under the tree and gave Ning Xi a curious look.
“Piaopiao, do you know Ning Xi?”
Bai Piaopiao’s eyes lit up. Her face turned red as she looked at Ning Xi and said,
“So your name is Ning Xi. You’re not only beautiful, but your name is just as lovely.”
