Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 31
“Perfect. Ning Xi, let’s get a close-up when you bite the gland.”
“Action!”
The camera zoomed in as Ning Xi slowly lowered her head. Her red lips parted slightly, revealing the sharp canines unique to an Alpha.
“Cut.”
“Hold on, don’t move just yet,” Director Jiang Yuanxin instructed.
He turned to a crew member. “Go get the special effects makeup artist.”
The makeup artist had already been waiting outside. Hearing the call, she came in immediately with her tools.
She approached Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue, who were still holding their positions. After closely examining Ning Xi’s teeth, she dipped a fine brush into red pigment and applied it to the gland area on the back of Yu Qingxue’s neck. In under a minute, a lifelike bite mark was drawn.
Once she finished, the makeup artist quickly left the set. Jiang picked up the megaphone again.
“Ning Xi, when you go in for the bite, make sure to block the mark until the last second. You need to really make it look like your teeth are sinking into the gland.”
“Action!”
To make it feel as real as possible, Ning Xi let her sharp white teeth graze the small protruding gland on the back of Yu Qingxue’s neck.
“Ah!” Yu Qingxue’s body jerked, as if struck by intense pain. Her spine straightened instantly, and her head tilted back, revealing a long, tense swan-like neck.
Her eyes shut tight, dark lashes trembling. Her face lost all color for a moment, only to flush with deep crimson a second later.
Watching the monitor, Jiang Yuanxin felt his heart race. The tension and intensity of the moment made him feel completely immersed in the scene. He couldn’t help but start imagining the film’s box office potential.
Ning Xi slowly lifted her head. The red pigment from the special effects clung to her lips, giving her a beautiful but dangerous look. Yu Qingxue had gone limp, leaning against Ning Xi’s shoulder and breathing heavily.
Normally, the director would have called “cut” by now. But Jiang Yuanxin saw something in Ning Xi’s expression, a sense that she hadn’t finished the scene yet.
Sure enough, after a brief pause, a soft smile of satisfaction appeared on Ning Xi’s face. She lowered her head again and kissed the spot she had just “bitten.” Then, her tongue flicked out and gently licked away the crimson trace left by the pigment.
“Cut!”
“Incredible. Absolutely incredible!” Jiang jumped up, excitement written all over his face as he rushed toward the two.
“Ning Xi, that was excellent. I knew Qingxue’s judgment would never fail.”
Ning Xi helped support Yu Qingxue as they stood up. The tingling sensation on Yu Qingxue’s neck hadn’t faded yet. Her legs felt weak, and she leaned on Ning Xi’s arm, breathing slightly unsteadily.
“You’ve both done great. That was the only scene for today. Head back to the hotel and rest. We’ll continue tomorrow.”
He glanced at Yu Qingxue, who looked genuinely exhausted. Or maybe she was just acting. He turned to Ning Xi.
“I’ve arranged a personal van for you and Qingxue. From now on, take that to and from the set and hotel. It’ll save time and give you both a place to rest between takes.”
“I’ve got some editing to review. You two go ahead. Ning Xi, take good care of Qingxue. She’s had a weak constitution since childhood.” That part, of course, was a lie.
Yu Qingxue was in perfect health. Stronger than him, a Beta, in fact.
But for the sake of helping his friend’s love life, he told the lie without hesitation.
Ning Xi nodded. “I will.”
A crew member brought their coats. Ning Xi helped Yu Qingxue put hers on, then casually threw hers over her own shoulder. Supporting Yu Qingxue, she walked her out the door.
Ren Rong, who had been waiting outside, quickly approached when she saw them emerge.
Yu Qingxue’s face was pale, but her cheeks were flushed red like someone with a fever. Cold sweat beaded at her temples. Ren Rong looked concerned.
“Ms. Ning, what happened to President Yu?”
“Nothing serious. She’s just a bit tired.”
“Let me help.” Ren Rong reached out, trying to support Yu Qingxue’s other side.
Ning Xi gently blocked her hand. “No need. I’ve got her.”
She slipped one arm under Yu Qingxue’s shoulders and bent down to slide her other arm beneath her knees. With a light motion, she lifted Yu Qingxue off the ground.
Yu Qingxue’s body was suddenly weightless. Her dazed mind cleared instantly.
“Ning Xi?” she looked up at her, confused.
Ning Xi lowered her gaze. Her dark eyes, filled with gentle warmth, met Yu Qingxue’s.
“President Yu, are you feeling any better?”
Ning Xi’s arms were firm and warm, wrapped tightly around her. Yu Qingxue felt like she was going to lose control again.
“I’m… I’m alright.”
Luckily, the set was close to the makeup room, and the lights outside were dim. Most of the crew had already left. No one else saw Ning Xi carry Yu Qingxue inside—except Ren Rong.
Ren Rong: I really didn’t want to see that either.
She stayed outside the makeup room to guard the door, resting her forehead tiredly against the wood. Her mind kept replaying what she had just witnessed, and one question haunted her.
What exactly was the relationship between Ning Xi and President Yu?
Can an Alpha and an Omega with no romantic involvement really be this close?
The thin wooden door could not block out the voices inside. First, she heard footsteps and the rustling of clothes. Then came Ning Xi’s voice.
“President Yu, do you want to change by yourself, or should I help you?”
Ren Rong froze. No way. No way! Were they really that kind of relationship?
She pressed her ear tightly against the door, trying to hear better.
Her senses must be deceiving her. Could Ning Xi really be President Yu’s lover?
Yu Qingxue replied, “I can manage on my own.”
Ren Rong let out a breath of relief. Good. President Yu refused. Maybe Ning Xi was just being thoughtful.
Then Ning Xi said, “President Yu, I want to help you.”
Ren Rong: Oh no. Not because of kindness.
She was now absolutely certain. Ning Xi was pursuing Yu Qingxue.
But was this how Alphas chased Omegas these days? So direct?
Would President Yu refuse again, or accept?
Ren Rong covered her face, realizing she was actually kind of looking forward to the answer.
Yu Qingxue dating someone would be huge news in the entertainment world. If it turned out to be Ning Xi… and she continued working as her assistant… wouldn’t her future be incredibly bright?
Ren Rong blushed with excitement as her mind raced through all the possibilities.
Go for it, Ms. Ning. I want President Yu to be my boss’s wife!
Then Yu Qingxue spoke again. “No need.”
Though she still refused, her voice was clearly less firm this time.
Ning Xi replied, “President Yu, I only want to help you.”
Ren Rong could practically imagine Ning Xi’s black eyes filled with quiet starlight, looking at Yu Qingxue with unshakable determination.
Who could possibly say no to that?
Sure enough, the room went silent for a few seconds.
Then Yu Qingxue said softly, “Alright.”
After changing and removing their makeup, Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue walked out of the room.
They were immediately greeted by the sight of Ren Rong jogging in place, lifting her knees high in the air. Her face was red, and she was panting heavily.
“Ms. Ning, President Yu, you’re out,” she called, trying to sound composed.
Ning Xi looked at her, confused. “What are you doing?”
Yu Qingxue was just as puzzled.
She had never seen anyone exhaust themselves doing high-knee drills on set.
Ren Rong tried to steady her breath and said, “I love working out! I really do! If I don’t move for a while, I get super uncomfortable!”
She pointed toward the nearby van. “So, I won’t be taking the car with you two.”
Ning Xi asked, “Then how will you get back?”
Ren Rong widened her eyes and said, “Of course I’m running back! I have to work out!”
Ning Xi looked at her, slightly speechless. “Stay safe.”
Something definitely seemed off with the assistant.
“I will! Ms. Ning, President Yu, take care!” Ren Rong called out cheerfully.
As she watched Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue step into the van, she secretly thought to herself,
Ms. Ning, I’ve already done everything I can to give you time alone with her. Now it’s up to you. Don’t waste this opportunity.
It was already close to eleven, well past Yu Qingxue’s usual bedtime.
Inside the smoothly moving van, Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue sat side by side.
Ning Xi kept finding herself glancing at Yu Qingxue throughout the ride.
Yu Qingxue looked a little tired, leaning back against the soft seat. Her beautiful eyes slowly closed as fatigue overtook her, long dark lashes casting a faint shadow below.
Her skin was fair and smooth under the light, her lips slightly pouted and naturally pink, looking soft and inviting.
The van bumped slightly as it passed over a stone, lifting briefly on the left side before settling again. The motion caused Yu Qingxue’s head to tilt dangerously toward the window.
Ning Xi quickly raised her hand and placed it between her head and the glass.
A moment later, Yu Qingxue’s head softly landed in Ning Xi’s palm.
It must not have hurt because she didn’t wake up.
Worried she might still hit something, Ning Xi gently guided her head to rest on her own shoulder instead.
Asleep, Yu Qingxue looked gentle and peaceful. She didn’t seem anything like her usual cool and distant self, with those light-colored eyes that always seemed to keep people out.
Ning Xi used to think that Yu Qingxue was just as cold as she appeared, but after spending time together, she realized Yu Qingxue had a kind heart. She simply didn’t like to show it.
The hotel was only two or three kilometers from the set, so the drive took less than ten minutes.
When the van pulled into the underground parking lot, Yu Qingxue still showed no sign of waking up.
Ning Xi remembered hearing someone say that Yu Qingxue could be very grumpy when woken up. If she didn’t wake on her own, it would be difficult for her to fall back asleep.
Which meant there was only one option left, carry her to the room.
Having done it once already, Ning Xi was much more confident this time.
There were still a few people around outside the hotel, so she carefully reached into Yu Qingxue’s bag, took out a pair of sunglasses and a fresh mask, and gently put them on her. She put on a mask herself too, then softly lifted Yu Qingxue into her arms.
The van driver, who had been sitting up front and hadn’t seen them come out, eventually got out to check on them. What he saw was Ning Xi stepping down from the van, carrying a sleeping Yu Qingxue in her arms.
The driver froze, stunned.
Why was the boss being carried like that?
Should he go stop her or pretend he didn’t see anything?
