Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 100
Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue returned to Yu Qingxue’s home together. Along the way, Yu Qingxue remained asleep, and even when they arrived at the villa’s entrance, Ning Xi still carried her out of the car.
Sister Zhang, knowing roughly when Yu Qingxue would return, had been watching from the window by the door. The moment she spotted Ning Xi, she rushed out to open the door.
“Sister Zhang, Qingxue fell asleep,” Ning Xi said softly, glancing down at Yu Qingxue with tenderness.
Sister Zhang immediately lowered her voice. “Will you be staying the night? I’ll go clean up the guest room for you.”
As she spoke, her eyes gleamed with anticipation.
She still didn’t know that Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue were already together, but the fact that Yu Qingxue could rest so comfortably in an alpha’s arms, Sister Zhang absolutely refused to believe there was nothing between them.
Ning Xi nodded. “Then I’ll trouble you, Sister Zhang.”
“No trouble at all! Come in quickly.” Sister Zhang beamed, her eyes crinkling as she turned to lead the way.
Once inside the villa, Ning Xi said, “I’ll take Qingxue upstairs myself.”
Sister Zhang’s eyes lit up.
Ning Xi was already calling her “Qingxue” could it be…?
If it were true, that would be wonderful. Qingxue wouldn’t have to endure her heats alone anymore.
“Go on, go on,” Sister Zhang urged.
Under Sister Zhang’s delighted gaze, Ning Xi carried Yu Qingxue upstairs, effortlessly navigating to her bedroom. She carefully laid her down, propping her against herself as she helped remove her coat, shoes, and socks before letting her fully settle onto the bed.
Yu Qingxue frowned slightly, then curled onto her side.
Ning Xi gently stroked her hair before leaving the room.
Entering the small sitting area, she ran into Sister Zhang, who had come up with cleaning supplies. Suddenly, Ning Xi recalled the last time she had stayed at Yu Qingxue’s place.
Yu Qingxue had claimed that Sister Zhang cleaned the guest room opposite hers every day, which was why she had insisted Ning Xi stay there instead of the downstairs guest room.
“…” So that had been a lie?
A thought struck Ning Xi, had Yu Qingxue already developed feelings for her back then and been scheming to keep her close?
“Sister Zhang, isn’t this guest room cleaned daily?” Ning Xi asked.
Sister Zhang shook her head. “No, this room’s hardly ever been used. At most, I clean it once a month. Before you came last time, Qingxue only asked me to tidy it up at the last minute.”
“I thought she was inviting an omega over, but it turned out to be you, Ning Xi.”
Her gaze grew teasing. “So, how far along are you and Qingxue now?”
Ning Xi chuckled and shook her head. “You’ll have to ask Qingxue about that.”
Sister Zhang sighed in disappointment. “So not that far yet. Well, I suppose that makes sense otherwise, you wouldn’t be staying in the guest room.”
Ning Xi flushed slightly at her words. “Sister Zhang…”
“I know, I know, no need to be shy. That girl Qingxue rarely speaks her mind about what she likes, but I can tell you’re special to her. I just worry she might keep her feelings bottled up, and you two would miss your chance.”
As Sister Zhang went to clean the guest room, Ning Xi scrolled through her phone in the sitting area.
The production team of Let’s Fall in Love Today had already hired trolls to leak candid photos of Zhou Jianbai and Sun Qize. Zhou Jianbai had gained popularity from a singing competition show, while Sun Qize, a legendary singer, was an idol to many. Their former mentor-student relationship and age gap instantly set Weibo ablaze.
Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue were considered mystery guests for the show. The production team wouldn’t release any information about them before the broadcast.
After scrolling through Weibo for a while, Ning Xi’s phone suddenly vibrated twice. She opened WeChat to find a message from Qi Huaiai.
Qi Huaiai: “Ning Xi, I heard from Brother Zhao that you took on another job and are coming back today, so I came to find you right away. Am I a good friend or what?”
Ning Xi: “Why does Zhao Duo tell you everything?”
She deliberately steered the conversation toward a topic Qi Huaiai loved, just to avoid being questioned about the nature of her work.
Qi Huaiai: [Blushing] “Ning Xi, I think Brother Zhao might have feelings for me…”
Qi Huaiai: “What if he confesses? Should I say yes? The gap between us is so big, I’m afraid his family won’t approve. [Sad]”
Ning Xi: “…You’re overthinking it. You’ve only known each other for a few days.”
Qi Huaiai: “Not really! Brother Zhao has been saying good morning and good night to me every day. I just mentioned once that I wanted someone to tell me bedtime stories, and he immediately started doing it to help me sleep.”
Qi Huaiai: “If he didn’t like me, why would he go to such lengths?”
Ning Xi: “…Fair point.”
Ning Xi: “Have you figured out what you’d do if his family really disapproves?”
Qi Huaiai: [Struggling] “No… Do you have any advice?”
Ning Xi: “Break up with Zhao Duo. If he can’t even convince his own family, what kind of man is he?”
Qi Huaiai didn’t reply for a long time.
Just when Ning Xi thought she could finally have some peace, her phone vibrated again.
This time, it wasn’t just Qi Huaiai, Huo Ziling had also messaged her.
The eldest daughter of Yuanshan Group, who had once spent money and resources just to get Ning Xi’s WeChat.
Ning Xi was surprised. It made sense that Qi Huaiai knew she had just finished recording, but how did Huo Ziling find out?
Huo Ziling: “Ning Xi, do you have time to visit Yuanshan Entertainment tomorrow?”
Ning Xi: “No.”
She really didn’t. Tomorrow, her pheromone suppressants would wear off, and at 8 PM, she would enter her rut meaning she’d have to stay in her room for the next seven days and nights.
Huo Ziling probably hadn’t expected Ning Xi to refuse. After a long pause, she sent another message.
Huo Ziling: “Oh. Let me know when you’re free, I can take you anytime.”
Her words dripped with superiority, as if implying: I can make you famous whenever I want.
Ning Xi smirked but didn’t reply. Instead, she screenshotted the conversation and sent it to Yu Qingxue’s WeChat.
Aunt Zhang finally finished cleaning the guest room after half an hour. When she came downstairs, she saw Ning Xi eating an apple and asked, “Ning Xi, are you hungry? Should I make you a midnight snack?”
“Aunt Zhang, no need,” Ning Xi stood up. “I’m just eating this because I’m bored, not because I’m hungry.”
“Thank you for cleaning my room.”
Aunt Zhang waved her off. “Oh, it’s nothing. Just part of my job. You two filming the show must be exhausted, go rest early.”
Ning Xi nodded, finished the last bite of her apple, tossed the core into the trash, and bid Aunt Zhang goodnight before heading upstairs.
Aunt Zhang watched her retreating figure until it disappeared, then sighed in the empty living room. “That Ning Xi girl is really something. It’d be great if she and Qingxue could be together.”
Ning Xi returned to her room, took a shower, changed into pajamas, set an alarm for 6:30 AM, and went to bed.
The next morning, Ning Xi was promptly awakened by her alarm clock. The first thing she did after getting up was head downstairs for breakfast.
Aunt Zhang, who was older and slept less, had risen at five-thirty to start preparing breakfast. Steam rose from a bamboo basket of freshly steamed soup dumplings in the kitchen, while a silent soy milk maker whirred nearby.
When Aunt Zhang saw Ning Xi, she greeted her warmly, “You’re up so early, Ning Xi! Are you hungry? The dumplings are ready, should I get you a basket?”
“Thank you, Aunt Zhang,” Ning Xi accepted gladly.
Aunt Zhang took the top basket and set it on the table for her. “Qingxue prefers soy milk over millet porridge, so we usually have soup dumplings with soy milk at home. I hope it suits your taste.”
Ning Xi quickly replied, “I’m fine with anything, I’m not picky.”
Aunt Zhang smiled even brighter. “Wait here, I’ll get you a bowl.”
Halfway through her meal, Yu Qingxue lazily descended the stairs.
“Are we having soup dumplings today?” she asked before even reaching the dining area, catching the scent in the air.
Ning Xi turned and held up a plump, white dumpling on her chopsticks. “Aunt Zhang’s cooking is amazing.”
Yu Qingxue’s red lips curled slightly as she took a seat beside Ning Xi. Covering a yawn with her hand, her light-colored eyes shimmered with sleep, a faint flush lingering at the corners utterly captivating.
“Most of my cooking skills come from Aunt Zhang,” Yu Qingxue said, blinking away the drowsiness before flashing a mischievous look. “So, whose cooking do you prefer mine or Aunt Zhang’s?”
Aunt Zhang happened to bring over a basket of dumplings for Yu Qingxue just then and, hearing the question, glanced curiously at Ning Xi, waiting for her answer.
Ning Xi: “…” Was her girlfriend really setting her up like this?
With a helpless look at Yu Qingxue, Ning Xi smiled at Aunt Zhang. “Naturally, Aunt Zhang’s skills are better. If they weren’t, how could she have taught Qingxue so well?”
Though pleased, Aunt Zhang thought Ning Xi should be praising Yu Qingxue instead and was about to hint at it when Ning Xi continued, “But even though Aunt Zhang’s cooking is excellent, I still love Qingxue’s dishes the most. Every one suits my taste perfectly especially that pickled radish.”
As she spoke, Ning Xi gazed straight at Yu Qingxue, her dark eyes sparkling like stars. Aunt Zhang, as an outsider, immediately sensed the intimate atmosphere between them.
She looked between Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue before finally asking, “Qingxue, are you and Xiao Ning… together?”
Yu Qingxue lazily propped her chin on her hand. “Oh? You figured it out, Aunt Zhang?”
Aunt Zhang: “…If you two were any more obvious, I wouldn’t even have to ask, I’d just tell Madam you’re dating straight away.”
Yu Qingxue said, “Aunt Zhang, please don’t tell my mom yet. Ning Xi and I are filming a dating show, and it’s supposed to be kept secret. If my mom finds out, the whole world will know, and the production team will sue me for breach of contract.”
Aunt Zhang hesitated. “Then when will filming end?”
“Pretty soon. It’s one episode a week, nine episodes total so about two months.”
“Two months…” Aunt Zhang reluctantly agreed. “Fine, I won’t tell Madam for now.”
“You’re the best, Aunt Zhang.” Yu Qingxue pulled out the chair beside her and patted it. “Stop working and join us for breakfast.”
After breakfast, it was just past seven. Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue moved to the living room to chat.
Ning Xi asked curiously, “Qingxue, what’s my future mother-in-law like? Why are you worried she might reveal our relationship?”
Yu Qingxue lifted her lashes to glance at Ning Xi. “Already trying to win over your mother-in-law? Don’t worry, my mom has a great personality. It’s just that some high-society ladies have gossiped behind her back about me never having dated, which upset her. Last time she told me if I ever got into a relationship, she’d immediately buy all the subway station ads to announce my romance.”
