- Chapter 24.1 - Junior Sister, Focus Your Mind
Su Jin’an finished her meal, scraping the plate clean. Ji Weining, lost in memories, recalled the past with a heavy heart. Cuizhu, tasked by the sect leader to kill Zhuang Yuyao, had deceived her, only to be deceived herself in the end. Someone had replaced the Demon-Suppressing Array with a Demon-Summoning Array, though who it was remained unknown.
If only she had double-checked, things wouldn’t have turned so dire. There was too much to recount, and she didn’t even know where to begin.
“It feels a bit hot today, but I should be able to adjust the water temperature. A soak in the spirit spring would do us good,” Ji Weining remarked, glancing at the blazing sun outside.
The spirit spring was exceptionally rich in spiritual energy, which was precisely why Ji Weining insisted on taking her there. Upon closer reflection, part of the reason A’rou’s spiritual energy dissipated so slowly was due to the hidden Spirit-Gathering Array in the courtyard. She hadn’t noticed it during her previous visits, but now she realized the entire layout was arranged according to the five elements of the Spirit-Gathering Array.
Su Jin’an asked, “Will you join me, Senior Sister?”
It wasn’t out of the question. Keeping an eye on her would be better, just in case anything unexpected happened.
“Then I’ll go prepare. The evening will be cooler, and with the abundant spiritual energy there, we might even help you form your Golden Core tonight,” Ji Weining planned how to assist her junior sister in achieving the Golden Core stage that evening.
Su Jin’an replied, “Alright.”
Su Jin’an carried the remaining peach blossom cakes back to the study. The room was filled with books of all kinds, though most were about mundane human affairs and seemed quite old. Having seen the light novels her senior sister read a few days prior, Su Jin’an found it hard to believe she would be interested in such books.
After some observation, she concluded that the books in the room likely didn’t belong to her senior sister but to the previous occupants of the house. She couldn’t understand why her senior sister had come here or why she had returned.
Su Jin’an immersed herself in her own book.
Ji Weining dug up the peach blossom wine she had buried under the tree years ago. Suddenly, she remembered the items she had left for A’rou and began searching for them.
The herbs she had left behind had long since vanished. Could A’rou still be alive? Ji Weining strained to recall the details of that time, but her memory offered no clues.
After dealing with the demonic energy back then, she had left this place without ever thinking to drink the peach blossom wine or check on it. Perhaps there was still a glimmer of hope for them.
After all these years, she still felt a sense of nostalgia for this place. As she opened a jar of peach blossom wine, its fragrance wafted into the air.
She wasn’t much of a drinker, but if someone could share a drink with her, it would be perfect.
Night fell, and the air grew cooler. The mountain hot spring, adjusted by Ji Weining’s spiritual energy, was now at the perfect temperature. Ji Weining led Su Jin’an up the mountain path.
Sneakily, Ji Weining squeezed her hand and asked, “Do you like it?”
“Of course I like what you’ve arranged for me, Senior Sister.”
After Ji Weining’s preparations, the place had taken on an exotic charm. She had laid out several well-fitting sets of clothes for Su Jin’an on the rack beside the hot spring, ready for her to change into after her soak.
“After you change, let’s go in together,” Ji Weining said, about to step behind the screen.
Su Jin’an stopped her. “Why are you leaving, Senior Sister? Change here. Is there something I shouldn’t see?”
“Of course, you can!” Before Ji Weining could finish her sentence, Su Jin’an had already removed her outer robe, leaving only a thin, white undergarment that hinted at the curves beneath.
She stepped into the hot spring, testing the water with her toes before sinking in, sending ripples cascading around her.
Just as Senior Sister had said, there was abundant spiritual energy. As her body submerged into the hot spring, it felt as though she were enveloped by the spiritual energy, which seeped into her skin and tempered her bones.
Her muscles and bones gradually relaxed, yet she remained just short of that one crucial point, unable to break through to the Golden Core stage.
She focused her mind to sense it, and in her consciousness, she seemed to see a faint, hazy golden sphere was that the Golden Core?
She lifted her gaze to Ji Weining and asked, “Senior Sister, aren’t you coming in?”
It took Ji Weining a moment to remove her blue robe, revealing attire identical to Su Jin’an’s.
Su Jin’an swam first to the edge of the hot spring where the wine jar was placed. Ji Weining had already prepared a red stove, using her spiritual energy to control the temperature of the fire. The wine was heated to just the right warmth neither too hot nor too cool. She lifted the wine pot and poured a cup into a crystal-clear glass vessel. Picking up the cup, she examined it closely.
The vessel was transparent with a jade-green hue, its exterior carved with a lotus pattern. As the wine filled the cup, ripples spread across the surface, making the lotus on the outer wall appear as if it were about to bloom.
Su Jin’an took a small sip of the wine she had never tasted before. After a few more delicate sips, she began to feel it should be quite pleasant. The rich aroma of peach blossoms filled her nostrils, blending with the spiritual energy and preserved at its most harmonious moment, a pity Su Jin’an couldn’t fully discern it.
“Is it good?” Ji Weining entered the water and moved toward her.
The scent of peach blossoms lingered in the air, and a surge of spiritual energy spread from her mouth down to her abdomen, warming her thoroughly. After just a few sips, Su Jin’an was already slightly intoxicated, her mind in disarray. She thought she should seize the spiritual energy here to make a final push toward the Golden Core.
Su Jin’an’s face was flushed from the hot spring’s steam. Senior Sister was speaking to her.
“Senior Sister, could you transfer a bit more spiritual energy to me?” Amid the mist, Su Jin’an moved closer to her. The water reached just below her collarbone as she pressed against Ji Weining’s arm.
Su Jin’an tilted her head up, her damp eyes fixed directly on Ji Weining.
“Alright.”
This time, Ji Weining didn’t take her hand. Instead, she wrapped her arms around Su Jin’an’s waist in the water, leaned down, and captured her moist, crimson lips.
At first, Su Jin’an wanted to resist, wondering why her senior sister would act this way. But then she felt a continuous stream of spiritual energy flowing into her.
“Junior Sister, focus.” Ji Weining’s voice echoed in Su Jin’an’s mind.
Was this telepathy?
Unable to speak or respond, Su Jin’an had no choice but to accept the spiritual energy.
“Junior Sister, absorb it and make it yours.” Ji Weining could feel the softness and, as if bewitched, parted the lips before her. Her mind recalled the descriptions in texts: the exchange of saliva fosters affection.
In the past, Ji Weining had scorned such notions, finding them unclean. But now, she hadn’t expected to desire such intimacy with her junior sister.
Ji Weining sent another message into Su Jin’an’s mind: “Is this okay?”
Okay with what? A trace of confusion flickered in Su Jin’an’s expression.
Receiving no response from her junior sister, Ji Weining’s expression dimmed with disappointment. She could only gently lick Su Jin’an’s slightly parted lips, savoring the taste of peach blossom wine while continuing to channel spiritual energy into her.
Su Jin’an’s body began to grow hot. She felt she was almost there, just one step away from forming her Golden Core.
Just one step, what was it, exactly?
Gasping for breath, she broke away from Ji Weining’s lips and whimpered, “I need spiritual energy.”
The stifling heat was unbearable, and the fact that she hadn’t yet formed her golden core made it even more frustrating.
Ji Weining leaned in to kiss her again, maintaining the flow of spiritual energy between them.
“Alright,” Ji Weining’s voice echoed softly in Su Jin’an’s mind.
Su Jin’an parted her cherry-like lips, trying to draw in more spiritual energy.
In doing so, Ji Weining’s tongue accidentally slipped into her mouth, brushing against something hard and angular likely her junior sister’s teeth before quickly retreating as it touched something soft.
She can’t do this not without her junior sister’s consent!
A storm of conflict raged within Ji Weining as she channeled another surge of spiritual energy into Su Jin’an, guiding the ambient energy from the hot spring into her body.
Before Su Jin’an could even process what was happening, her body was already flooded with spiritual energy. Every part of her felt invigorated, brimming with vitality.
The golden core she had vaguely sensed earlier grew more distinct, swelling with spiritual energy as if on the verge of completion.
When Ji Weining finally released her, she noticed Su Jin’an’s lips had turned a delicate shade of red.
“Focus your mind and gather your energy in the dantian,” Ji Weining instructed.
Su Jin’an followed her guidance, channeling all the spiritual energy within her toward her dantian, where it converged into the golden core.
A shimmering light radiated from the core.
Overjoyed, Su Jin’an looked at Ji Weining and asked, “Did it work?”
“Regulate your breathing inhale, exhale.” Ji Weining replied with a gentle smile. Though the golden core had formed, it still needed stabilization.
Su Jin’an moved according to her words. Moments later, she extended her palm, and a blazing ball of fire ignited in her hand. “I, I’ve done it.”
The flames in her palm burned fiercely and brightly. She could clearly feel the surge of spiritual power within her.
Su Jin’an said gratefully, “Thank you, Senior Sister.”
“No need for formalities. Staying in the hot spring too long isn’t good either. Let’s get out.” Ji Weining’s gaze lingered on Su Jin’an’s flushed lips before she pursed her own.
As Su Jin’an moved toward the shore, her wet clothes clung to her body. Ji Weining casually used her spiritual energy to retrieve a set of dry clothes and several cloth towels, wrapping Su Jin’an in them.
“Dry yourself off.”
Ji Weining averted her eyes, refusing to look at her. In the mist, Su Jin’an’s curvaceous figure was irresistibly alluring, and she feared she might lose control.
“You’ve already kissed me, yet you don’t dare look at me now?” Su Jin’an shed her damp clothes, dried herself, and took the garments Ji Weining held out with her back turned.
She was fully aware of what had happened. Was it strange? Su Jin’an didn’t think so after all, she herself was considered odd by everyone. If her mother were to witness this, she could only imagine the scornful remarks. A wave of bitter irony washed over her. If possible, she never wanted to return.
But what else could she do?
Ji Weining pouted and said, “I’d want to kiss you again.”
“Are you afraid to kiss me again?” Su Jin’an actually found it quite pleasant though her focus had been entirely on the spiritual energy earlier, so she hadn’t paid much attention to what Ji Weining was doing.
“How could I possibly be afraid?” There was no way she would admit any hesitation in front of her junior sister.
As Su Jin’an dressed, she chuckled softly. “Senior Sister, you really have been reading too much nonsense.”
Ji Weining turned around and came face to face with her junior sister, who was only half-dressed.
Taller than Su Jin’an, she leaned in and kissed her forehead restrained yet filled with the affection she wished to convey.
“Kiss me here,” Su Jin’an tilted her head up, pointing to her lips, then added in the next breath, “Afraid?”
Being asked by her junior sister made Ji Weining a bit nervous, but she would fulfill her request. “Alright.”
She kissed Su Jin’an as desired, parting her lips slightly to envelop Su Jin’an’s red mouth. Su Jin’an offered no resistance, lifting her head in cooperation, like a ripe peach ready to be plucked.
A mere taste was not enough. Unconsciously, Ji Weining bit down gently. Su Jin’an rose onto her toes, trying to draw her in deeper.
But Ji Weining released her lips.
There her teeth marks were now imprinted on her junior sister’s mouth.
“Why did you stop?” Su Jin’an touched her lips and noticed the marks.
It seemed she really liked being treated this way.
“I was afraid of hurting you,” Ji Weining pouted slightly.
Any harder, and she might have drawn blood.
“Does it really not hurt?” Ji Weining wasn’t sure about her pain tolerance, though she had heard of people who could endure pain not that it was necessarily a good thing.
She just wanted her junior sister to be safe and sound.
“It doesn’t hurt at all. In fact, it would be even better if you made me bleed.” Su Jin’an stuck out her tongue to lick the spot on her lower lip where she had been bitten.
Ji Weining was taken aback. What was her junior sister saying? Could she be a vampire?
“Then why don’t you bite me?” Ji Weining bent down, bringing her face closer for Su Jin’an to bite.
“Why would I bite you?” Su Jin’an’s confused yet clear gaze made Ji Weining think she seemed perfectly normal.
Ji Weining: “Alright, never mind.”
“Get dressed properly and rest early. Nighttime is the best for absorbing the essence of heaven and earth.”
“Does senior sister not need to sleep with me anymore?” Su Jin’an asked curiously. Had the divine decree been lifted?
[Please stay in the same room with your junior sister.]
[Please protect your junior sister.]
[Do not let her get hurt.]
Three messages from the divine decree came in succession.
How rare.
It seemed she would have to sleep with her junior sister again tonight. Why did she feel a bit eager about it?
“Yes, it’s required by the divine decree,” Ji Weining declared confidently.
“Come sleep in my room, junior sister. The bed is huge.” Ji Weining began describing it. Since the Zhuang family had left years ago, she had lived alone and never brought anyone here. She added unnecessarily, “There’s enough space for you and me.”
She wanted Su Jin’an to come and be with her.
“Whatever senior sister arranges is fine.” Su Jin’an straightened her sleeves and finished dressing.
Ji Weining held out her hand. “Hold hands.”
Su Jin’an looked puzzled. “Why?”
“I’m trying to win you over.” When Su Jin’an didn’t move, Ji Weining proactively reached down, took her hand, and interlaced their fingers.
Su Jin’an gripped her hand in return. “Mm, okay.”
The stars twinkled brightly in the sky as the two walked along the bluestone path.
“Junior sister, do you like it here?”
“I do.” Whether she truly liked it or not, she wasn’t sure, but she knew her senior sister loved it, so she probably did too.
“If possible, let’s live here together in the future.” Ji Weining turned to hear her opinion.
“Okay.”
But who knew how long that “if possible” might take.
Today, with the Golden Core fully formed, she felt her body had improved significantly, her bones becoming lighter, meaning she could do much more now.
Entering the room, she noticed a plate of pastries still sitting there.
Su Jin’an instinctively reached for one and took a bite.
“Are you hungry?”
Su Jin’an shook her head. “Just craving something.”
In truth, she just wanted to confirm something and indeed, it was still the same as before.
“I’ll go boil some water. Eat as much as you like, little sister, but don’t overdo it, it’s easy to get indigestion, which isn’t good for your health. Though, I can fetch some digestive medicine if needed.” Ji Weining then remembered the digestive pills she had once developed. Eating a bit more wouldn’t be a problem.
Su Jin’an held the peach blossom pastry, smiling as she replied, “Alright.”
Her eyes inexplicably felt moist.
She wished her senior sister belonged only to her, but here, her senior sister was indeed hers alone.
