- Chapter 7 - Night Realm (Part 4) – Does Being Slapped Feel That Good?
“Hey, hey, hey! This is kidnapping! Human trafficking! It is illegal!!”
Jin Yongyi struggled with all her might. The four people holding her had strength that did not seem human. No matter how much she resisted, they steadily carried her into the building.
She truly wanted to cry. She was just a minor supporting character; why was she facing more calamities than the male lead? There was no need for the author to waste so much ink on a character like her, right?
The four men in black carried her for a long time. While Jin Yongyi complained internally that the author’s writing was completely illogical, she had already calmed down and developed a strong curiosity about her surroundings.
Along the way, as she scanned the area, she did not see a single spot that was not crafted from gold.
Who was this wealthy?
Perhaps working here would not be so bad. Looking at the powerful arms of the men carrying her, they clearly had five meals a day and suffered from over-nutrition.
The men in black pushed open a door, and intense music flooded Jin Yongyi’s ears. A moment later, she was set down.
Jin Yongyi cautiously scrambled up from the floor. Not daring to make any large movements, she rolled her eyes around to inspect the room.
This place was like a massive gold-devouring cave. The walls were built entirely of gold, and various treasures and jewelry were piled haphazardly in the corners. The music echoed through the rafters as several women in fiery red dance dresses exerted themselves, twisting their waists.
The object of their flattery was undoubtedly the man sitting in the highest position.
He wore a dark red robe that was wide open at the collar. His jet-black hair was only partially tied up, with several strands trailing along his collar into hidden places.
The surrounding clamor seemed to have nothing to do with him. He rested his chin lazily on his hand, looking down as he toyed with a wine cup. The liquid inside dripped bit by bit onto the table.
Jin Yongyi watched the beautiful women dance until their waists nearly cramped, yet that jerk did not spare them a single glance.
Dressing so flamboyantly just to act all brooding?
Jin Yongyi felt bad for the beauties. She criticized the man in her heart for a long while and even secretly rolled her eyes.
Suddenly, the man in the main seat looked toward her.
The wine cup tapped lightly against the table. The music stopped abruptly. The dancers looked at each other with expressions of terror, and the gazes they turned toward Jin Yongyi were filled with pity.
The atmosphere instantly became heavy.
Jin Yongyi, quite pathetically, collapsed onto her knees with a thud.
The man stared at her without a word. The pressure was so intense that she felt as if she were kneeling on needles.
Jin Yongyi searched her mind for a thousand pleas for mercy. She was just about to kowtow and shout “Long live the King” when someone walked in through the door.
It was the fake Zhao Fuzhou who had tricked her into coming here. He had returned to his original appearance, though his outfit was still identical to Zhao Fuzhou’s.
He walked to Jin Yongyi’s side and knelt, offering a respectful bow toward the main seat.
“Huan Nu greets the Master.”
Jin Yongyi hung her head, glaring at him fiercely.
Huan Nu ignored her and continued: “Huan Nu is incompetent. I failed to kill the intruder who attacked our Yangguang Hall. I hope for Master’s punishment!”
Yangguang Hall?
Jin Yongyi was stunned. She glanced at the man in the main seat.
So that fat pig before was just a puppet hall master. The real master of Yangguang Hall was back here enjoying himself in luxury.
The Hall Master did not seem concerned. He started toying with the wine cup again.
Seeing that he did not speak, Huan Nu panicked and kowtowed again: “If I may speak plainly, Zhao Fuzhou is by no means a kind sort. The ruthlessness of his methods is not something we can contend with!”
He prostrated himself on the floor, trembling uncontrollably, knowing full well that saying such things was no different from seeking death.
The hall was terrifyingly quiet. Everyone looked heavy-hearted. Only Jin Yongyi, upon hearing those words, had eyes that suddenly lit up. She straightened up slightly and poked Huan Nu’s shoulder, asking: “Hey brother, are you saying Zhao Fuzhou escaped?”
Huan Nu did not respond; he just shook more violently.
“Yes!”
Jin Yongyi gave a small cheer. Since Zhao Fuzhou had escaped, he must be on his way to save her. After all, as his only current lackey, her position in his heart must be extraordinary.
Until then, she just needed to stay alive.
A wine cup suddenly flew down from above, hitting Huan Nu square in the head before rolling to her feet.
“You are very happy?”
Jin Yongyi glanced at the Hall Master, then looked down at the blood-stained wine cup at her feet. She immediately shook her head and shrank her neck like a quail.
The Hall Master chuckled, watching her every move. He asked: “What is your relationship with Zhao Fuzhou?”
This put Jin Yongyi in a difficult spot. She asked tentatively: “What do you wish for our relationship to be?”
At that moment, Huan Nu, who was kneeling nearby, suddenly straightened up as if grabbing a life-saving straw. He pointed at her and said excitedly: “This woman and Zhao Fuzhou behave intimately; their relationship must be unusual. But please rest assured, Master, when Huan Nu brought her here, Zhao Fuzhou had not yet found her.”
“From now on, she shall be Master’s beautiful courtesan,” Huan Nu said, giving her a deep look. “Once she is played to death, Huan Nu will send her corpse to Zhao Fuzhou as a gift to soothe the hatred in Yangguang Hall’s heart!”
Jin Yongyi was dumbfounded.
No, with a character like yours, you have the nerve to say Zhao Fuzhou is not kind? Have you no shame?
“A beautiful courtesan,” the Hall Master’s gaze wandered over Jin Yongyi. “She is indeed beautiful.”
Jin Yongyi immediately hugged her poor, weak self.
“Huan Nu,” the Hall Master said with a smile. He looked to be in a good mood, but his words were not as pleasant as his expression. “On the way here, what did you do to her?”
Huan Nu was struck with terror. The sheer fear made it impossible for him to straighten his back. He replied with a trembling voice: “I only received my orders and thought of completing the task Master assigned. I dared not think of anything else!”
“Liar!!” Jin Yongyi shouted. She jumped up and pointed at her face. “You touched my face! My left cheek still feels itchy!”
She pouted in anger, took two steps forward, and told the man above everything that had happened on the road.
“He disguised himself as Zhao Fuzhou and even told me that if I liked that face, he could look like that forever.” Jin Yongyi turned back and spat. “You think you are worthy? Take those clothes off right now!”
Huan Nu kept his head lowered, offering no defense.
A very soft laugh came from above. Jin Yongyi realized she had revealed too much about her relationship with Zhao Fuzhou, which indirectly confirmed Huan Nu’s guess that they were close. She shrank her neck and went back to kneel properly.
Just as she found a comfortable position, she was startled by the man kneeling next to her. Flames swallowed Huan Nu; his clothes turned to ash in an instant. Tongues of fire licked his body, and soon his skin became charred. Yet he remained motionless, accepting the punishment for his momentary lust.
Jin Yongyi pulled her skirts closer and moved her body away to a distance. This outfit was expensive; it could not be burned.
After an unknown amount of time, the Hall Master casually poured a cup of wine, and the fire subsided.
There was hardly a piece of good flesh left on Huan Nu. With a sharp sniff, one could even smell a hint of roasted meat. Jin Yongyi could not help but marvel; after being cooked by a large fire for so long, he was at least medium-well, if not well-done.
“I will spare your life for now. Clean up Pang Nan,” the Hall Master instructed Huan Nu, but his gaze remained on Jin Yongyi. He said with a faint smile: “You should thank Miss Jin. If she had not killed that useless Pang Nan, you would be a useless person as well.”
In short, the puppet hall master was dead, and Huan Nu needed to dispose of the body. Otherwise, Huan Nu would become a corpse himself.
“I accept your command.” Huan Nu stood up, and ash fell from him in heaps. He looked at Jin Yongyi and said: “Thank you, Miss Jin.”
Jin Yongyi immediately shook her head and waved her hands: “No, no, do not mention it. You are too polite, haha.”
Huan Nu: “…”
He walked out, leaving a black footprint with every step.
Jin Yongyi turned back. Now she was the only one kneeling in the center of the hall. The feeling of everyone staring at her was very unpleasant, especially since the Hall Master’s gaze was full of aggression. Even without looking at him, she could feel him watching her intently.
Jin Yongyi nearly tucked her head into her chest, wishing she were invisible.
A pair of boots appeared in her limited field of vision. A stern female voice came from above.
“Keep your head up and your chest out!”
She suddenly had a vision of a math teacher holding a pointer and saying that if she did not solve the problem today, she could forget about going to the cafeteria. Terrified, Jin Yongyi immediately obeyed.
A woman with masculine features stood before her.
“From now on, you are Master’s beautiful courtesan. You must treat Master as your heaven and value his life above your own. Do you understand?”
What kind of nonsense is this? It is a new society already, yet they still do this old-fashioned stuff.
Jin Yongyi suppressed her discomfort, put on a polite smile, and asked weakly: “Um, what happens if I am unwilling?”
“Death.”
“I will do it! I will do it!”
A great woman knows when to yield!
The woman glanced at her and continued: “Every courtesan of Master must master one hundred and eight skills. Can you play the lute, play chess, perform calligraphy, or paint?”
Jin Yongyi thought for a moment and shook her head.
The lute? Her family could not afford lessons. Chess? Too profound. Calligraphy? She could not sit still. Painting? Do stick figures count?
The woman’s gaze sharpened. She listed many elegant skills, but no matter what she said, Jin Yongyi just shook her head.
She shook it so much her neck started to ache.
The woman let out a heavy sigh. “If you know nothing else, surely you know how to coax someone in bed!”
At those words, Jin Yongyi’s face turned bright red.
This is too shameless. It is the ancient times, after all. How can she say such things in public without any hesitation?
She was shocked for a long while before recovering. She took a deep breath and said in a coarse voice: “I am from the countryside. We are a bit crude there; we do not do all those fancy things.”
The woman nearly died of anger hearing her speak. She turned to the Hall Master and reported: “In my opinion, this person is too clumsy to be Master’s courtesan.”
Yes, yes, yes! Unsuitable!
That was exactly the result Jin Yongyi wanted.
“A woman who has nothing but beauty is a disaster if kept. It is better to kill her!”
Jin Yongyi: “Yes, yes… wait, what?!”
Having spoken, the woman rolled up her sleeves and came over to grab her arm.
Jin Yongyi wanted to struggle, but the people here seemed to have been raised on beef from birth; their grip was incredibly strong. She could not break free and could only let the woman drag her away.
Suddenly, a wine cup tapped against the table. The sound was not heavy, but it made the woman stop immediately.
Jin Yongyi jumped up and kicked the woman. The hall door was only three steps away. Just as she was hesitating whether to make a break for it.
“Come here.”
His voice was light and airy, yet it unexpectedly made Jin Yongyi regret her fleeting thought.
Jin Yongyi turned stiffly and met the Hall Master’s scrutiny. She felt a massive headache coming on as she moved toward him with a slow, turtle-like pace.
This walk was extremely stressful. Although this man was devastatingly handsome and his manner was quite playful, when those smiling eyes looked at her, she always felt a chill in her heart.
Jin Yongyi took a step and panted twice, walking slower and slower. Some courtesans even secretly urged her to move faster, but she ignored them. She noticed that the Hall Master had picked up another wine cup to play with, which meant he still had a bit of patience.
She was also very anxious. Was the male lead actually on his way to save her? In front of this dangerous man, her life and her virtue could be lost at any moment!
As she thought this, Jin Yongyi suddenly heard something shatter. Looking closely, the Hall Master had crushed the wine cup in his hand into dust. Fragments cut his palm, and blood mixed with wine dripped down. It was terrifying.
Jin Yongyi realized things were bad. She dashed to his side and said flatteringly: “Master! What are your orders?”
The Hall Master did not bother with his wound. He asked her: “Where did Huan Nu touch you?”
“Here, here!” Jin Yongyi gestured honestly on her face.
The Hall Master suddenly pulled her arm, drawing her into his embrace. His slender fingertips traced back and forth on her left cheek.
Jin Yongyi’s eyes widened in horror. She felt goosebumps rise from her cheek to her ear. Blood smeared half her face, wet and sticky. The heavy scent of iron and wine filled her nose, numbing her brain.
Seeing such a strong reaction, the Hall Master’s eyes curved with pleasure.
“Does it feel good?”
Jin Yongyi: “…”
Good, my foot!!
“Did you not say you know nothing?” He took Jin Yongyi’s hand and placed it against his own cheek. “Try it.”
Jin Yongyi’s mind went blank. Was he asking her to touch his face?
To be honest, this man was quite handsome. Although he was not quite on Zhao Fuzhou’s level, they were completely different types. He looked like a bad boy, whereas Zhao Fuzhou was more gentle and comfortable, the kind whose smile made one feel refreshed.
She still preferred Zhao Fuzhou’s type. But he was a handsome guy, after all; touching him once was not her loss.
Jin Yongyi tentatively extended her fingertip, touched him as lightly as a dragonfly skimming water, and quickly withdrew her hand.
The Hall Master raised an eyebrow slightly and tilted his head, signaling her to continue.
Just as Jin Yongyi was preparing for a proper touch, a notification sound like a cough rang in her head. Then, the system made a grand entrance with a tone that practically begged for praise.
[Host, I took your suggestion! From now on, whenever you hear this sound, you will know I am coming online!]
Jin Yongyi: “…”
Her hand froze in mid-air. She was so angry at the system she wanted to laugh, but she could not show it.
[Attention, please! I am now issuing the third mission: It has been detected that the male lead has not slept for several nights. Host, please coax the male lead to sleep and accompany him through the lonely night.]
Jin Yongyi was incredulous: “Are you crazy?!”
She did not even know where the male lead was. She was trapped in danger herself, and instead of helping her, this useless system was making things worse!
Jin Yongyi was so absorbed in her own world that she did not notice everyone in the hall was kneeling, not daring to breathe.
It was not until her wrist was grabbed that she snapped back to reality. She saw three clear red finger marks on the Hall Master’s left cheek.
Jin Yongyi screamed in her heart, “It is over, it is over, this system is going to be the death of me.” Unexpectedly, the Hall Master pinched her face. The playfulness in his eyes grew deeper, even carrying a hint of pleasure.
“Has Zhao Fuzhou ever told you that you are very interesting?”
“…”
She did not know what was wrong with him. Jin Yongyi was truly speechless.
The Hall Master seemed to like her audacity even more. He leaned down and whispered into her ear:
“Tonight, you will accompany me.”
“?”
The Hall Master finally let go of her. He stood up from his chair with an air of triumph and commanded: “Take her down and wash her clean.”
He brushed a strand of hair from her face and wrinkled his nose slightly.
“There is an unpleasant smell.”
Jin Yongyi lifted her arm and sniffed carefully. She did not have body odor or smelly feet, and her clothes were new. Where was the unpleasant smell? Why did both he and Zhao Fuzhou say the same thing? It was truly baffling.
