Drink This Bowl Of Dog Blood! [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 12
A faint stinging sensation came from his hand. Tan Qiuyi, who was extremely sensitive to pain, opened his eyes. Perhaps the medication was taking effect, as his nose was no longer as congested. The moment he opened his eyes, his sense of smell awakened as well, and he once again caught that faint scent of cedar and lemon.
Sensing that the breathing of the person on his shoulder seemed to pause, Song Yanxing looked down at the youth, whose eyes were tightly shut but whose eyelashes were trembling. His lips curved slightly as he looked up at the nurse who had excitedly recognized him and said in a gentle, low voice, “Thank you. Sorry for the trouble.”
The nurse suppressed her excitement, maintained her composure with a nod, and returned to the station while looking back three times with every step.
Sensing that she had left, Tan Qiuyi opened his eyes and moved away from the man’s shoulder. “Thank you,” he said, but his voice was so raspy that he instinctively shut his mouth.
Song Yanxing took a thermos, which he had asked the nurse to fill with warm water, from his bag and handed it over. “Drink some water.”
Tan Qiuyi took it, their fingertips brushing briefly before quickly parting. After drinking, he tightened the cap and looked up, meeting the man’s gaze.
Tan Qiuyi blinked and asked hesitantly, “Do you want some?” Remembering something, he added, “I do not mind; I am just afraid of passing the illness to you.”
“I have my own water. Next time.”
Next time? What next time?
Tan Qiuyi’s eyes widened slightly. He followed the man for a few steps before realizing he was walking with his arms and legs out of sync. He slowed his pace and looked at the man’s back, letting out a sigh. Was it what he thought it meant? The meticulous care and the companionship during his illness made Tan Qiuyi fairly certain of Song Yanxing’s intentions.
As for himself, did he have feelings for him too? Yes, he did, Tan Qiuyi thought while looking down at the hand warmer Song Yanxing had tucked into his grasp. If you want to get closer, then get closer, Tan Qiuyi decided.
“What is wrong? Do you feel unwell anywhere?” Song Yanxing stood at the hospital entrance and looked back with concern at the person walking slowly. Still uneasy, Song Yanxing walked over to the youth, who was wrapped up tightly with only his small face showing.
Tan Qiuyi watched the man move to his side to block the cold wind. His cold features rarely held a smile, and the corners of his mouth beneath the scarf could not help but turn up slightly. “It is nothing. Let us go back.”
Sensing his good mood, Song Yanxing raised an eyebrow and smiled along. It was 3:00 AM and there were virtually no pedestrians on the street. The two walked toward the parking area together. The cold wind howled, and the skyscrapers had extinguished their lights, falling into a deep sleep.
“When do you think the first snow of the year will fall?” Tan Qiuyi looked at the sky and asked suddenly.
Song Yanxing looked up as well. “It should be in the next few days.”
“Then let us watch the first snow together,” Tan Qiuyi turned to look at him, his eyes holding a glimmer of hope. “Is that okay?”
Song Yanxing’s reply drifted in the wind, but Tan Qiuyi heard it clearly. “Mhm. As you wish.”
Morning
Song Yanxing did not sleep for long and woke up early to prepare breakfast in the kitchen. Those with work left the house one by one after eating.
Song Yanxing looked down at the time and then up at the silent stairs. Just as he was about to check on the youth’s condition, his phone suddenly rang. After hearing what the person on the other end said, his expression sharpened. He hung up, left a note, and drove away in a hurry.
1:00 PM
Song Yanxing walked quickly down the hospital corridor and let out a sigh of relief when he saw a familiar face. Jiang Wei, who was sitting outside the operating room, saw the man in a mask striding toward her. She stood up and chose her words carefully. “Grandma Song fell while going down the stairs. She did not lose consciousness, but her lower leg hurts badly. It is likely a fracture.”
Seeing his brow furrowed, Jiang Wei added, “When Grandma Song called me, she specifically told me not to notify you for fear of delaying your work.” She paused. “But that was impossible. So, do not keep such a stern face, or the elderly lady will feel guilty.”
“Thank you,” Song Yanxing said while looking at her.
Jiang Wei waved it off. “It is what I should do. I will request a few days of leave for you from the variety show. The next part is filming for travels to various places; missing one location will not have much of an impact.”
“Mhm. Sorry for the trouble.”
On the other side
Tan Qiuyi rubbed his head, which felt a bit groggy from sleep, and headed downstairs after washing up. The living room was unusually quiet. His eyes swept the room, but he did not see the person who should have been home at this time.
Suppressing the flash of disappointment in his heart, Tan Qiuyi headed toward the kitchen to make something to fill his growling stomach. Instead, he found a note on the kitchen table: “Something came up at home and I had to go out. There is porridge cooked in the pot; remember to drink it. — Song”
Tan Qiuyi pursed his lips and smiled, but his eyelid flickered. He felt a vague sense of worry.
In the evening, the others returned from work and gathered for a hasty meal. It was only then that they received word from the production team that Song Yanxing would be taking a few days of leave and the travel plans were announced.
Cheng Siyou, having received the mission card, opened it skillfully and read to everyone, “One third of the Transit Journey has passed. Next, we will travel to promote a better understanding of each other.”
Cheng Siyou paused upon seeing the content below and continued, “Next, house members are asked to write down a wish they want to fulfill during the upcoming journey on a card. You may designate a specific person to fulfill that wish for you. The designated party cannot refuse. Each person has only one chance.”
“The production team is really playing big,” Cheng Siyou said with a smile while resting his chin on his hand.
“Haha, indeed, but does that not make it more fun?” Meng Can’t gaze drifted toward Zhou Xiangyu, who was focused on Cheng Siyou.
Ye Hui did not have much of a reaction; he seemed rather distracted. Zuo Yi and Chi Ting simply sat quietly, each with their own thoughts.
After taking their cards, everyone returned to their respective rooms. Tan Qiuyi sat on his sofa while holding the card for a long time without writing a word. There was a knock at the door and Tan Qiuyi opened it. A staff member stepped forward and whispered, “Teacher Tan, someone is looking for you.”
Tan Qiuyi looked up and saw a bright and elegant woman holding a bag of items; it was Song Yanxing’s manager.
Jiang Wei stepped forward, handed over the items, and initiated the conversation. “You must be Teacher Tan Qiuyi. Yanxing asked me to bring you some standing medicine.” She looked at Tan Qiuyi and smiled. “Of course, that is not the most important thing. He asked me to give you a message.”
Jiang Wei looked at the other protagonist of the Xing-Yi pairing that netizens were obsessed with. Although she had held some dissatisfaction at first, it had vanished by now. She was a fan of beauty, and Tan Qiuyi’s facial lines were clean, his features cold and handsome, and his narrow eyes were particularly exquisite. When he did not smile, his whole face appeared very cold, yet it was impossible to look away. She did not know who was winning in this situation.
“What is it?” Tan Qiuyi took the items. Upon hearing her words, his lips thinned slightly, his heart full of both anticipation and nervousness.
Jiang Wei spoke slowly, “He said, wait for him to return and take good care of yourself.”
