Dr. Chi’s Mission: Seduce Officer Su - Chapter 27.2
Only after Su Qiao had completely disappeared from view did Chi Jue let the honey-sweet smile fade from her face.
She stood still for a moment, lost in thought, before turning back to the elevator.
Before pressing the floor button, she gazed absently at the surveillance camera. As the doors slowly closed, she pressed not for her own 20th floor, but another.
When answers couldn’t be obtained from Su Qiao directly, she had to find them herself, this was the mindset of an academic researcher.
Chi Jue walked straight through the community courtyard and arrived at the property management surveillance room, where several security guards were enjoying instant noodles.
“Hello, ma’am. How can we assist you?” One guard put down his noodle cup and hurried over to greet her.
In this high-end community, the annual property fees paid by residents were staggering, so the staff were always eager to accommodate any request.
With a cold expression, Chi Jue approached the wall-sized display of monitors. She had already prepared her excuse on the way.
The guards couldn’t stop her, so one followed, asking: “Are you looking for a lost item?”
“I’m the owner of Unit 201, Building 1. My car was scratched, and I’d like to review the surveillance footage.”
Hearing this, the other guards gathered around. If a luxury car had been damaged and the resident pursued responsibility, it wouldn’t just mean a deduction from their bonuses.
“We’ll pull up the footage for you right away.”
“Wait, I need the video from two days ago, after 23:00.”
The guards exchanged glances, they’d never seen someone request such precise timing before. But none dared question her, so they proceeded as instructed.
“Please have a seat. It’ll just be a moment.”
Chi Jue didn’t sit. She remained standing behind the guard operating the computer, exuding an air of unwavering determination that made him click the mouse faster.
Soon, Su Qiao’s figure appeared on the display screen. As the Porsche that nearly hit her came into view, Chi Jue’s heart leaped into her throat. She pressed her lips into a thin line, her brows furrowed tightly, and even the tips of her fingers curled until they turned white.
She was suppressing a sudden surge of rage.
She wanted to hear clearly what An Jiaqin had said to Su Qiao, but all that came from the speakers was a rustle of static.
Her patience worn thin, she snapped angrily, “Why is the surveillance audio so poor?”
“This…” The security guards tensed up as they watched the person on the screen approach the Ferrari, and then, to their horror, circle around to the front of the Rolls-Royce. Beads of sweat nearly broke out on their foreheads.
“Which of these two cars is yours?”
“Both.” Chi Jue replied coldly, her attention entirely fixed on Su Qiao, not noticing the staff’s increasingly uneasy expressions.
“Then… which one was scratched?” The security guard hardly dared to breathe, praying it wasn’t the more expensive one.
Only then did Chi Jue realize that everyone was on edge over a fabricated lie. She reined in her anger and muttered, “Just copy this footage for me.”
But then, feeling it couldn’t be left at that, she pointed at An Jiaqin on the screen. “Is it true that as long as someone drives a decent car, you’ll let anyone in?”
The group was left speechless by her question.
After the video was copied to her phone, Chi Jue issued a warning before leaving: “That person is not a resident. If I see her in the neighborhood again, I’ll file a complaint against you until you’ve had enough.”
Leaving the property management office, Chi Jue’s fury had already peaked.
She strode decisively back to the parking garage, slid into the Cadillac, and slammed the door shut with force.
In the quiet space, only the sound of a dial tone remained.
Before long, a deep, resonant male voice came through the receiver, tinged with a hint of unexpected cheerfulness. “A-Jue? I didn’t expect you to reach out first.”
Chi Jue skipped the unnecessary pleasantries and got straight to the point. “Bring An Jiaqin. I’ll be waiting for you at the Jiangshan Fu villa. Time is precious, I’ll only wait until 9 PM.”
Without waiting for a response, she hung up.
…
When Chi Chengxiu arrived at the villa entrance with An Jiaqin, Chi Jue was already seated under the garden umbrella. She hadn’t even considered inviting them inside, let alone offering tea.
The villa behind her stood dark, while the landscape lights in the garden cast a somber atmosphere.
Chi Chengxiu stood at 190 cm tall, his handsome features resembling their mother’s, with a calm demeanor inherited from their father. Dressed in a sharp suit and a serious expression, he was the picture of an elite professional.
He wasn’t particularly fond of Chi Jue’s domineering temperament, but as her older brother, he had no choice but to tolerate his sister’s demands.
After all, this sister of his never acted coy or stirred up trouble without reason. For her to take the initiative to invite him was a rare occurrence.
With one hand in his pocket, he walked toward her at a leisurely pace. “A-Jue, long time no see.”
“Sit.” Chi Jue replied tersely, sparing no words for small talk.
Her gaze swept past Chi Chengxiu and landed coldly on An Jiaqin.
An Jiaqin’s expression revealed no extra emotion as she followed Chi Chengxiu and took a seat.
Under the umbrella, the three of them sat in three different directions, the dim, warm light casting contrasting shadows on their faces.
Chi Chengxiu glanced around the surroundings. The garden’s greenery was sparse and bleak, making it clear at a glance that Chi Jue didn’t live here regularly.
The howling night wind was biting. He tightened his suit jacket. “Why don’t we go inside to talk?”
“No need. It won’t take much of your time anyway.” Chi Jue continued to stare intently at An Jiaqin, her words seemingly directed more at her.
Chi Chengxiu was accustomed to his sister’s aloofness and cut straight to the point. “What did you want to discuss, meeting us so late?”
Chi Jue scoffed. “What else? Our relationship, of course.”
“Alright, go ahead. I’m all ears.”
“I think this topic should be started by Miss An.” Tapping her fingers lightly on the small round table, Chi Jue tossed the difficult question to An Jiaqin.
Suspiciously glancing at the person on his left, Chi Chengxiu seemed to have guessed something and shook his head with a smile. “A-Jue, you might be mistaken. My relationship with Jiaqin isn’t what you think.”
“Brother, you’re the one mistaken. The relationship I want to discuss isn’t what you think either.” Chi Jue stood up and stamped her feet. She was cold, but her heart felt even colder at that moment. “I only asked you here to be a witness. I hope you’ll find an opportunity to repeat every word I say to Father.”
“A-Jue, don’t be like this.” An Jiaqin finally spoke up, interrupting their conversation. She knew all too well that once Chi Jue made a decision, she never looked back.
This version of Chi Jue had given up her inheritance rights and stood alone against her family.
“What exactly do you want me not to do?” As she spoke, she tossed her phone onto the table. A video was playing, showing footage from the parking garage.
Chi Chengxiu had no idea what was going on. He looked questioningly at the person involved but remained silent, perhaps waiting for her to explain the situation so he could make a judgment.
An Jiaqin merely glanced at the phone. Her previously submissive tone had now turned defiant. “It seems she’s quite good at tattling.”
“Do you think everyone is like you, a stinking bug in the gutter? She didn’t even bother to mention your name. Do you really think she’d tell me these things?” Chi Jue rarely used harsh words against others, but for the sake of Su Qiao, who had been wronged, she seemed like a different person, or perhaps it was the vengeful soul hidden deep within her that had surfaced.
“So what? You called me here, in front of your brother, just to humiliate me over an outsider?” The gloom in An Jiaqin’s eyes reflected genuine sadness, but her innocence seemed somewhat performative.
“Then why don’t you tell my brother how you cornered me at the elevator, roughly grabbed my face, and forced me to reconcile with you?” Chi Jue retorted in a low, sharp whisper, her ferocity unmistakable.
“Was I wrong? I gave up the opportunity to become the CEO of the overseas branch and traveled thousands of miles back just to give you an explanation. But you wouldn’t even give me a chance. How could I not be angry?” An Jiaqin grew frantic, trying to twist the narrative to cover up her violent behavior.”
Chi Chengxiu rested a hand against his lips, still refraining from interrupting. As the designated witness, there was little he could say anyway.
Chi Jue walked behind An Jiaqin, ensuring her words would be heard clearly, aiming to wound her heart in retaliation.
“First, the only thing left between us is our past relationship. In the future, I could be anyone’s wife, but never yours.”
“Second, whether the Chi and An families remain on good terms or turn hostile has nothing to do with me. An arranged marriage is out of the question for me.”
“Third, if the two of you end up together for the sake of interests, I’ll respect it and call you sister-in-law with my blessings. But you should know how to maintain your dignity, after all, a good horse doesn’t turn back to graze on old pastures.”
“Fourth, and this is my only warning to you: Su Qiao is my bottom line. Whether she’s worthy or not is for me alone to decide. You have no right to judge, much less to interfere.”
“To sum it all up, I have only one point: whether you’ve returned or not makes little difference to me. In fact, it’s more of a nuisance. But as long as you don’t disturb my life, we can all coexist peacefully.”
“Enough!” Chi Chengxiu slammed the table and stood up. He hadn’t expected Chi Jue’s words to be so sharp, each one cutting toward the seemingly innocent An Jiaqin.
His anger also stemmed from the fact that his own sister could direct conflict toward a blood-related family member for the sake of an outsider.
Chi Jue was, of course, not intimidated by his outburst. She turned to the man whose emotions were now written all over his face and sneered, “Did I say something wrong, my esteemed brother?”
“When did you become so aggressive? Jiaqin loves you. Don’t you have even a shred of feeling for her?” Chi Chengxiu’s inner balance had tipped, and his reprimand lost its persuasiveness.
Such favoritism was exactly what Chi Jue had anticipated. After all, Chi Chengxiu and An Jiaqin had worked together abroad for years and had known each other since childhood, understanding each other inside out.
Their bond was solid, not something that could be shattered with a few words.
“Loves me?” Chi Jue raised her voice incredulously, followed by a burst of bleak and eerie laughter.
She abruptly stopped laughing and demanded, “You’ve been favored by Father and Mother since childhood. You shouldn’t misunderstand the meaning of love, should you? Would someone who loves you hastily break up with you when you love them the most? Would someone who loves you disappear for five or six years and then come back asking to reconcile? Can every action taken by someone who loves you be an absurd act of harm?”
Chi Chengxiu fell silent.
An Jiaqin’s face turned ashen with embarrassment. Her lips trembled as she struggled to find the right words to refute, for every sentence Chi Jue spoke felt like an interrogation of her very soul.
“I’m done talking. Let’s part on good terms.”
Only a cold gloom remained on Chi Jue’s face. With a calm yet resolute farewell, she turned and disappeared from their sight.
