- Chapter 14 - Shen Ruoli, What Are You Groping At?!
Shen Ruoli acted as though she hadn’t noticed the change in Xie Xuanyin’s body.
She held him tightly, letting out a satisfied and greedy breath—I finally caught him! After all this time since the rebirth, she had finally managed to hug this man. It hadn’t been easy!
“Huh? What’s wrong, Your Highness?” She reached out and felt his chest muscles.
Xie Xuanyin thought she had discovered his physical arousal and hurriedly swatted her hand away. “Shen Ruoli! What are you groping at!”
“Why is Your Highness even hotter than I am? Did you catch a chill too?” Shen Ruoli ignored his protest and continued to feel around his chest.
Xie Xuanyin was frantic with irritation. He tried to push her away, but she was like an octopus; he couldn’t shake her off no matter how hard he tried!
“Your Highness, are you feeling very hot?”
Shen Ruoli knew his temperament, but she knew his body even better! Xie Xuanyin looked like an iceberg, but he was actually highly combustible. He was lean and powerful, and in their past life, his prowess in the bedroom was so fierce that she often couldn’t get out of bed the next day!
Knowing exactly what was happening to him, she shamelessly continued to fan the flames. “If Your Highness feels too hot, why don’t you take off your clothes?” she whispered into his ear, her breath like orchids.
Who could withstand such a thing?
Xie Xuanyin hated her, but he was still a man—and a man who had once been obsessively infatuated with Shen Ruoli. He grabbed her restless hands and flipped over, pinning her beneath him.
Even in the pitch-black room, he felt as if he could see the sparkle in her eyes. She was smiling, and she was gambling. As long as he didn’t recoil from her touch, there was still a chance for them. It wasn’t too late to start over.
“What is it, Your Highness?” Shen Ruoli slowly looped her arms around his neck, pulling him down slightly to close the distance.
She thought he would lose control. But she had underestimated him.
“Shen Ruoli, are you trying to pass your illness to me?” Xie Xuanyin pulled her hands away and rolled off the bed. “I have no desire to sleep. You stay here.”
Without waiting for an answer, he opened the door and walked out. Hearing the door click shut, Shen Ruoli couldn’t help but feel a bit deflated. That dog of a man really has a strong will!
However, she knew she was the one who owed him. she couldn’t push him too hard, or it would backfire. Since she had decided to start over, she had to be patient and give him time to trust her again. Until then, no matter how he treated her, she deserved it.
She lowered her eyes, hiding her disappointment.
…
The East Wing of the Manor.
“My Lord, I heard it clearly just now. The Crown Princess was very proactive, and the Prince was very close to her! They looked quite affectionate; it didn’t seem like an act at all.” The guard lowered his head, reporting cautiously.
“Oh?” Xie Yuanxun was surprised. “Truly?”
“I would not dare deceive you, My Lord.”
“It seems Prince Chu hasn’t spoken a single word of truth.” Xie Yuanxun stood up with a cold sneer. He looked at a letter on his desk, and his face suddenly turned livid. “That scoundrel! He dared to use me as his tool!”
Xie Yuanxun ripped the letter to shreds.
“My Lord, perhaps there is a misunderstanding?” the guard stammered. “After all, the Prince and Princess did look a bit distant in public, as if they were at odds.”
“If they were at odds, why would they share a bed? You heard it with your own ears—they were very intimate! They might put on a show in front of others, but behind closed doors, that is their true state!”
Xie Yuanxun paced the room, hands behind his back. Xie Xuanyin was growing up fast—so fast that he could no longer read his thoughts!
“Xie Xuansong, that bastard!” Yuanxun cursed under his breath. “Of all the places to send her to pray, he chose Tianzhao Temple! Now that she and the Prince are both injured, the Emperor will surely blame me!”
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, until he kicked over a chair. The guard trembled and tried to soothe him. “My Lord, calm yourself! Perhaps Prince Chu just thought that since Mount Tianzhao is under your jurisdiction, he was giving you a chance to be the one to save them.”
“Nonsense! Didn’t you hear the Prince? Xie Xuansong is currently staying at Tianzhao Temple himself!”
That dog is playing a brilliant game, Yuanxun thought. He tried to use the bandits in Fuzhou to kill the Prince. If Xie Xuanyin lived, Shen Ruoli would gain his trust. But if the Emperor sought to punish someone for the injuries of the Crown Prince and Princess, the blame would fall on Xie Yuanxun for failing to manage the bandits!
Xie Xuansong gets the benefits, while I take the blame?
“He wants the throne and he wants to eliminate me! I underestimated his ambition!” Xie Yuanxun gritted his teeth. “Have you found that maid yet?”
The King of Zhenbei turned his dark gaze toward the guard. If Xie Xuansong dared to play tricks on him, he would show the youngster some respect. They were both Princes, but there was still a hierarchy!
“My Lord, we’ve found traces of someone falling off the cliff. We are searching now. We should find her by tomorrow.”
“Good. Speed it up. And keep a close eye on the Prince and Princess.” He sat back at his desk and began writing a memorial.
“My Lord, are you really going to impeach Prince Chu?”
“Impeach him myself? Why bother?” Yuanxun didn’t look up. “The Emperor surely knows about the Prince’s injuries by now. If I admit my fault before he asks, he will favor our brotherly bond and won’t be too harsh.” He knew the Emperor’s temperament—as long as he acted humble and loyal, he’d only get a verbal scolding.
“Also, increase our forces to ‘suppress’ the bandits immediately!”
The guard understood the underlying meaning of “suppression” perfectly. “Yes, My Lord! I’ll see to it!”
It was a sleepless night for everyone except Shen Ruoli, who had succumbed to exhaustion and a feverish chill. Xie Xuanyin and the others didn’t close their eyes.
The Next Morning.
Xie Yuanxun walked to the door just as he heard Xie Xuanyin requesting a doctor. He assumed it was for their wounds.
“Yin’er, why are you up so early?” Yuanxun noticed Xie Xuanyin’s hair was wet and reached for a cloth to dry it for him. “In this cold weather, and with your injuries, why did you take a bath?”
Xie Xuanyin looked slightly awkward. He couldn’t exactly tell his uncle he had spent the night taking a cold bath to dampen his desires.
“Uncle, I can do it myself,” he said, taking the cloth. “Is there a reason you’re here so early?”
Xie Yuanxun stepped back. “Yes. I came to tell the Crown Princess that her maid has been found!”
