- Chapter 15 - Chest: The Dog Was Hooking His Waistband and Peeking Inside!
After dinner, Yan Ruixing was forcibly dragged to a shopping mall. As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, a staff member in a professional suit and white gloves greeted them with a flattering, perfect smile.
Yan Ruixing could not accept this kind of spectacle. Dropping a remark that ordinary mortals cannot withstand the extravagant life of a young master, he turned around to head to the mall next door.
Wen Xiaomian stopped him. “The one across the street is also owned by my family. You will get the same treatment there. Just endure it, young master.”
Yan Ruixing: ” ”
Pointless struggle was futile. Yan Ruixing was led to the VIP lounge of the mall. He only had to sit and drink tea while luxury brand clothing was presented before his eyes one by one.
Under the recommendation of the private shopping guide, they each bought two sets of pajamas. They were the same style: the result of Wen Xiaomian’s coercion.
Yan Ruixing: ” ”
Shameless.
The image consultant brought over two shirts and handed them to Yan Ruixing. “Sir, these are our new arrivals for the season.”
“No need, thank you.”
Wen Xiaomian said, “Just try them on. I lost your button before, and I said I would compensate you.”
The image consultant was very good at reading the room. Sensing Wen Xiaomian’s intent, they utilized their sales pitch skills to the fullest. Yan Ruixing grew annoyed and could not leave, so he finally agreed.
The private shopping guide led Yan Ruixing to the fitting room and hung the shirts. “Sir, I will be right outside the door. Please call me if you have any questions.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Before the door closed, Wen Xiaomian sauntered in.
Yan Ruixing blocked him. “What are you doing?”
“Trying on clothes.” Wen Xiaomian shook the suit in his hand. “If you can buy clothes, why can’t I?”
Yan Ruixing walked out holding the clothes and said to the guide, “Please find me another room.”
“Do you understand the strategy of sustainable development? Do you know how to maximize space utilization? Here, two people share one room.” Wen Xiaomian turned to ask the guide, “Little sister, is that not right?”
Even a dog would not believe Wen Xiaomian’s nonsense. However, he had a group of diligent employees who believed even the most dog-like words without a doubt.
The guide nodded and vividly described to Yan Ruixing the logic and connection between sustainable development, maximizing space, and two people sharing a fitting room.
Yan Ruixing reached his limit. He shut the guide out and went to a corner to try on clothes, relegating Wen Xiaomian to another corner.
Taking off his top, Yan Ruixing picked up the pink and blue striped shirt. His clothing usually consisted of gray, white, and light khaki; he had never worn such a vibrant color.
Putting on the shirt, Yan Ruixing lowered his head to adjust his belt when a voice appeared behind him. “It is already April, and you are still wearing long johns?”
Yan Ruixing whipped his head around. The dog was standing behind him, hooking his waistband and peeking inside!
The Battle of the Century broke out instantly. Yan Ruixing chased him for eight laps. Finally, he used a tie to bind the hands, medical tape to seal the mouth, and covered the head with a suit jacket. It only ended after he threw Wen Xiaomian into a corner of the sofa to face the wall.
Wen Xiaomian’s head was covered and his vision was hazy, but his mind was full of the images from before he was tied up.
He had not seen the color of the underwear, but Yan Ruixing’s chest had been completely exposed. During the chase, he had not had time to button up, and a large patch of red had spread from his neck to his chest.
Wen Xiaomian turned his wristband; it was still pulsing intensely. He had only hooked the waistband, not pulled down the pants. Was there any need to be that shy?
However, was he shy, or was he sensitive?
After thinking about the redness on the chest, Wen Xiaomian thought about the clothes. The one Yan Ruixing wore was not bad; it made him look even fairer: a white that was flushed with red.
Before Wen Xiaomian could finish reminiscing, Yan Ruixing had changed back into his clothes and rescued him from the bondage play, but he still looked angry.
Wen Xiaomian leaned toward him, looking for a chance to apologize. “Do you like any of the clothes?”
“No.” Yan Ruixing opened the door.
“Alright.” Wen Xiaomian told the guide, “Wrap up everything he tried on.”
“Yes, Young President Wen.”
When trying on the clothes, Yan Ruixing had seen the price tags. Each of the two shirts was no less than five digits.
Playboy.
Yan Ruixing walked ahead while Wen Xiaomian followed with the bags. Taking advantage of the empty elevator, he quickly asked, “Great King, are you still angry?”
“No.”
“You are ignoring me.”
“When have I ever enjoyed talking to you?”
“If you just told me the color of your underwear, I would not be curious anymore. You were the one who would not say it, so this is your fault.”
“Wen Xiaomian, just how bored are you!” Yan Ruixing grew angrier the more he thought about it. “Do you not have your own underwear? Why do you have to see mine?”
“What if the color of your underwear is the Emperor’s New Clothes? I wanted to check if I am smart enough.”
“Shut up!” Yan Ruixing was provoked again. “If you dare to say another word, I will strip you into the Emperor’s New Clothes.”
“Wow! Dr. Yan has such heavy tastes. You actually like playing strip in public.”
Sensing that something was wrong, Wen Xiaomian made a gesture of sealing his lips and became completely quiet.
Upon returning home, Yan Ruixing went to take a shower first. Listening to the sound of the water from the bathroom, Wen Xiaomian found a bottle of medicine in a drawer.
He had lived here for two days. Although Yan Ruixing did not deliberately avoid him, he did not seem to want him to find the medicine bottle either.
Wen Xiaomian checked the name of the medicine with translation software and gained a brief understanding of its usage. He extracted a key piece of information: Leukemia.
A current of electricity ran through his scalp. Wen Xiaomian called Director Ren. He wanted to confirm whether a healthy person would deliberately take this kind of medicine for a bitter meat trap.
The conclusion given was that this was a third-generation targeted drug for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia. Aside from the side effects, the medicine was expensive and had no domestic sales channels. Any person with a normal mind would not take it to fake an illness.
Wen Xiaomian held the bottle and continued to ask, “Just how serious is this kind of disease?”
“It is definitely serious!” Director Ren sighed repeatedly. “If the condition cannot be controlled, the consequences are unimaginable.”
Wen Xiaomian’s head felt hot and dizzy. “Then, with this disease, how long can one live?”
“The survival rate for children is relatively high. For adults, if there is no match and they rely solely on chemotherapy, five years is not easy.”
A surge of sudden depression and unventable irritability filled him. There was a ringing in Wen Xiaomian’s ears, and his heart felt as if it had been torn out and thrown away. The voice on the phone became distorted.
Before the symptoms could subside, Director Ren changed the subject. “But because of you, countless leukemia patients have been given a chance at rebirth.”
Wen Xiaomian felt a lump in his throat. “What does it have to do with me?”
“This medicine is a product under the Wen Corporation!”
“?” Wen Xiaomian’s brain went blank, and he did not respond for seven or eight seconds.
Director Ren thought he had not heard and repeated it, continuing his flattery. “It is precisely because of a great entrepreneur like you that leukemia patients see hope and regain their lives!”
Wen Xiaomian gradually reacted. “You mean, if one takes this medicine, they will not die?”
“As long as the medication is taken regularly and no drug resistance occurs, the patient’s survival state is basically no different from that of an ordinary person.”
“You just said they can only live for five years.”
Director Ren gave a few sheepish laughs. “Was that not a setup for the praise later?”
Wen Xiaomian almost fired Director Ren for still being alive. “Do another setup like that and you can go back home to farm.”
“Ah, alright.”
Director Ren was silenced, unable to figure out what he had said wrong. Young President Wen specifically asked about his own company’s medicine, and so pointedly, was he not just wanting me to praise him? Was it that I did not praise him well enough?
Wen Xiaomian turned the medicine bottle over. “Can taking this medicine cure it?”
“I am afraid not.”
“How can it be cured?”
“Bone marrow transplant.”
“Is there anything to pay attention to in daily life?”
“During the medication period, the body’s resistance decreases. It is necessary to ensure adequate sleep, pay attention to protection against the cold, and prevent colds.”
After hanging up, Wen Xiaomian asked Guo Hao and learned that the pharmaceutical factory had been acquired by the old man over six months ago. It mainly researched cardiovascular and blood tumors, with targeted drugs being a small branch.
Wen Xiaomian held the bottle. “Urge the marketing department to push the domestic market as soon as possible.”
“Yes, boss. I will handle it tomorrow.” Guo Hao added, “Boss, the Cantonese restaurant on the street of the provincial hospital will open soon. The manager would like to invite you to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Are you free?”
“What date?”
“The eighteenth.”
“I am not going to the ribbon-cutting. Give me a copy of the menu.”
“Received, boss.”
Wen Xiaomian thought back to the targeted medicine. “Tell me, if someone took my medicine and a disease that was originally fatal was controlled, allowing them to live for a long time, what would they think?”
“At a time like this, boss, do not worry about what they think. Take care of yourself first.”
“What is wrong with me?”
“You are not only rich but also handsome, and now you have saved his life.” Guo Hao’s concern remained, and he spoke earnestly. “Boss, I am worried that he will leave you with a lingering affection.”
