- Chapter 26.2 - "Hurry and Put Your Clothes On, Don't Take Them Off."
Chapter 26.2: “Hurry and Put Your Clothes On, Don’t Take Them Off.”
Five minutes later, Lin Anran was holding the cup and drinking, with Jiang Yi supervising nearby.
“Are you finished yet?” Jiang Yi asked: “Why does it take you so long to drink a cup of ginger tea?”
Lin Anran slammed the cup heavily onto the table with a thud, her face clearly showing displeasure.
Jiang Yi didn’t care if she was displeased. She checked the cup, and only when she saw it was empty was she satisfied.
“I finished it,” Lin Anran stated.
“I know, you finished it,” Jiang Yi took a moment to process, then walked over and stroked her head: “That’s very good, you finished it. Well done.”
Lin Anran’s expression stiffened, and she immediately slapped away the hand touching her head: “What are you doing?”
Jiang Yi shrugged sheepishly: “You said you finished it, then looked at me eagerly. I thought you were asking for praise. How else could I praise you? That’s all I could do.”
“You’re truly sick,” Lin Anran snapped.
“The sick one is going to wash the cups now.” Jiang Yi took the cup to the kitchen to clean it.
As for Lin Anran, she first touched the spot on her head that Jiang Yi had stroked, then secretly blushed a little, and finally resumed her unfinished inspection.
She began meticulously checking the living room.
She checked the living room, which could be seen in its entirety, twice. That wasn’t enough, so she went into the bedroom.
Then, Jiang Yi heard Lin Anran rush out: “Where are my clothes? Why aren’t my clothes in the closet!!”
She looked like a ruffled cat whose marked territory had been violated.
Jiang Yi: “You disappeared for a month; isn’t it normal for me to put your clothes away? It’s a good thing I didn’t throw them away.”
The fire of her accusation instantly died down. Lin Anran guiltily looked away, turned, and walked off.
Jiang Yi clicked her tongue. Really, she disappeared for a month, offered no explanation, and then had the nerve to blame others. Only Lin Anran could pull off such an act of shifting the blame.
“Do you want me to find your clothes for you?” Jiang Yi asked, leaning against the bedroom doorframe.
“Whatever,” Lin Anran replied with an air of indifference.
Jiang Yi didn’t argue with her. She walked to a corner of the room and pushed a suitcase in front of Lin Anran.
“I stored all your things in here before. Take them out and organize them yourself if you need them.”
“You won’t help me organize them?”
Jiang Yi smiled: “Organize them yourself.”
Lin Anran pouted unhappily: “Fine, I’ll organize them myself.”
Jiang Yi placed the suitcase in front of her and left it at that. It was getting late; she needed to hurry and get ready for bed.
When Jiang Yi finished showering and blowing her hair dry and came out, she glanced into the bedroom.
As expected, the contents of the suitcase were messily scattered. Asking her to organize them was worse than not asking at all.
Clothes were tossed on the bed, shoes on the floor, and various small items were scattered here and there, a total mess. Anyone would think the house had been torn apart by a husky.
“What are you looking at? Haven’t you ever seen someone organize things before?” Lin Anran asked defensively.
“I suspect you intentionally made it look like this. Forget it, just leave it there. I’ll clean it up.” Hoping this young miss would clean up properly was as likely as hoping she wouldn’t kick the door—it was more likely the sun would rise in the west.
Lin Anran kicked the suitcase at her feet: “Don’t bother me while I’m resting. This mess is annoying to look at. Be quick about it.”
Now she was giving orders…
Jiang Yi shook her head, resignedly going in to tidy up for this young miss.
Lin Anran didn’t help at all, mainly acting as a supervisor on the side, occasionally giving directions.
“Hang the clothes further inside. Put the shoes on the left. Ah, why are you so slow? No, no, don’t hang the clothes too far inside, pull them out a bit. Don’t put the shoes on the left after all; put them on the right.”
Jiang Yi clicked her tongue in annoyance.
Lin Anran finally shut up, showing rare good sense by staying silent.
“Achoo!”
Jiang Yi stopped what she was doing and turned to look at her: “Why are you sneezing? Did you catch a cold?”
Lin Anran rubbed her nose: “No, my nose is just a bit itchy.”
Jiang Yi looked at her worriedly, guessing she probably had a cold. This young miss was very delicate, and being exposed to the cold wind for so long probably meant one cup of ginger tea wouldn’t solve the problem.
“How about we take some cold medicine beforehand to prevent it?” Jiang Yi put the suitcase away, pushed it back into the corner, and the room returned to tidiness.
“No,” Lin Anran subconsciously refused.
Jiang Yi smiled lightly: “Are you afraid of taking medicine at your age?”
Lin Anran looked at her cautiously, as if Jiang Yi would force her to take the medicine…
“Don’t worry, I won’t force you to take medicine,” Jiang Yi yawned: “Hurry up and sleep. I need to sleep too.”
Lin Anran: “Wait a minute.”
Jiang Yi looked at her: “Hmm?”
“Are you going to sleep on the sofa?” Her eyes darted around as she asked this, making it unclear what she was thinking.
“What else? You’re occupying my bed, so I have to sleep on the sofa. When have you ever come here and I didn’t sleep on the sofa?” Jiang Yi said exasperatedly.
Lin Anran: “You could also…”
Her voice suddenly cut off. When she resumed speaking, it turned into: “You could also sleep on the floor.”
Jiang Yi almost thought she was going to say, You could also sleep in the bed, thinking she was concerned about her discomfort on the sofa, believing this young miss was finally learning to be considerate. She was on the verge of being moved.
But she was premature in her sentiment. It was classic Lin Anran.
“Right, right, right, I could sleep on the floor. You’re so caring, suggesting I forgo the sofa to sleep on the hard floor.”
Jiang Yi shook her head and left the room.
Lin Anran opened her mouth, but her awkwardness was too great, and the words she wanted to say remained unspoken.
Lying down and pulling the blanket up, Lin Anran suddenly realized something. A slight blush flashed across her face, and she secretly pulled the blanket over, happily taking a sniff.
Her smile froze, and she frowned, sitting up. She stared at the blanket, sniffing it a few more times to be sure.
Why didn’t it smell like Jiang Yi?
She remembered. Jiang Yi had just put on a new blanket cover, so naturally, it didn’t have her scent.
Lin Anran unhappily kicked the blanket away: “Ugly, broken blanket.”
She rushed out to the living room: “Jiang Yi, change the blanket for me. I don’t like it.”
The person lying on the sofa was accustomed to this, rolling over and turning her back: “Don’t cause trouble in the middle of the night. Stop picking fights and go to sleep.”
Lin Anran kicked the sofa a few times, scoffed, and went back to the room.
Jiang Yi flipped over to look at the sofa. This person didn’t just love kicking doors; she loved kicking sofas too. It was fine if the door got damaged, but she hoped the sofa wouldn’t be ruined as well.
She carefully checked the spot she kicked. Fortunately, the sofa was temporarily safe, with no damage.
Buzz, buzz.
Her phone vibrated.
Jiang Yi reached out and grabbed the phone from the coffee table. It was a message from Lin Anran.
She looked toward the room in confusion. They were only separated by a door; she could have just stepped out and said something. Why send a message?
She tapped the message open. It was better not to have looked.
Lin Anran: [Your blanket is as ugly as you are]
Hadn’t she specifically given her a new pink duvet cover? Why was she still calling it ugly? It was clearly based on her preferences. This was just deliberate troublemaking.
Jiang Yi didn’t reply, putting her phone aside and turning off the light to sleep.
Lying on the narrow sofa, tucking her feet in, Jiang Yi began to reflect on her life. Why had she missed this young miss when she was gone?
The moment she arrived, Jiang Yi had to sleep on the sofa, leaving her with an aching back. What was there to miss?
Late into the night, Jiang Yi groggily climbed off the sofa, went to the restroom, poured a cup of water to drink, and then went straight to the bedroom.
Of course, she wasn’t so sleepy that she forgot Lin Anran was in the room; she came to confirm something.
Stopping by the bed, she reached out and felt her forehead.
Her temperature was normal, no fever. Jiang Yi breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Anran was a delicate person. She was worried that after being exposed to the cold wind today, she might develop a fever in the middle of the night, so she specifically came in to check.
Fortunately, she didn’t have a fever. The ginger tea must have worked.
After confirming, Jiang Yi tucked the blanket back in for her, preparing to leave.
The person on the bed suddenly mumbled something.
Jiang Yi paused, curious, and leaned closer to listen.
“Jiang Yi.”
Jiang Yi was surprised. Why was she calling her name? Was she dreaming about her?
She wondered what she was dreaming about.
As this question arose, she heard Lin Anran mumbling again in her sleep, and this time, it was clear.
“Jiang Yi, go away, go away.” While saying go away, she also kicked the blanket off and punched the air.
Jiang Yi twitched her mouth. Why was she telling her to go away even in her dream, and making such a big fuss? Was she hitting someone in her dream?
Hitting someone in her dream?
“Jiang Yi, don’t go away, come here.”
Jiang Yi smiled. Now she wasn’t allowed to go away? Was she calling her back to hit her again because she hadn’t hit her enough?
What kind of dream was this, telling her to go away one moment and not the next?
Jiang Yi covered her again with the blanket she had kicked off, and was about to leave when she heard the sleeping person mumble again.
“Jiang Yi, put your clothes on quickly. Stop trying to seduce me.”
