- Did Puppy Pick Up Fluffy Things on the Livestream Today?
- Chapter 7 - The "Selling Misery" Plan OVO
Dong Mo was woken up by a soft sensation on his chest.
Before he could even open his eyes, he felt something soft on his puppy chest, slowly and rhythmically massaging him with gentle pressure. He struggled to open his eyes, only to see the kitten in his arms with its eyes tightly shut, rhythmically “kneading” his black fur with its two front paws.
Dong Mo was instantly wide awake.
The kitten’s paw pads were pink and tender. Since the fur on his chest was shorter than the fur on his back, the sensation on his skin was exceptionally clear. Those soft, warm little paws opening and closing as they tread on his chest felt incredibly comfortable!
Looking up, the slumbering kitten had its small mouth tightly pursed and its ears flattened comfortably against his chest. It was kneading in its sleep, and it seemed to be putting quite a bit of effort into it.
He carefully nudged the back of the kitten’s head with his nose. After confirming that the little guy no longer had a high fever, the heavy weight in Dong Mo’s heart finally lifted. The fever was gone, which meant the Lingxi Grass was working.
He lay on the bed for a bit longer. Once the kitten stopped kneading, Dong Mo cautiously transformed into his human form. He backed away inch by inch, terrified of waking the little fellow.
However, the kitten seemed naturally sensitive to external movements. Just as Dong Mo moved to the edge of the stone bed, the kitten’s ears twitched, and it let out a weak “Meow.”
“Did I wake you up?”
Dong Mo quickly raised his hand to gently pat the kitten’s back, coaxing it in a soft voice.
“Go back to sleep. I am getting up to boil some hot water and change your bandages.”
His voice was hushed and extremely gentle. Hearing that Dong Mo was still by its side and was only getting up to tidy things, the kitten gave another small cry, touched the back of Dong Mo’s hand with its paw, and lay flat once more.
Dong Mo found the little guy increasingly adorable. He could not resist pinching its small ear one more time before turning over to put on his animal-skin coat.
For the past two days, the livestream chat had been saying his clothes were a mess. In truth, Dong Mo really did not know how to wear them. When he was thrown into the woods, the Chief of the Tsukiyama Tribe had tossed him this oversized animal-skin coat. It only had a few ropes made of twisted hemp. Dong Mo did not know the correct way to wear it, so he simply threw it all on, covering whatever he could.
Once dressed, he took the animal-skin bowl and ran out of the cave to the stream he had found yesterday. He filled the bowl and carefully carried it back. With yesterday’s experience, he was extra cautious when stepping onto the stone slope. He tilted the bowl slightly toward himself and ensured his body remained balanced as his heels followed through.
He first added new branches and dry grass to the fire, then propped the water bowl up high.
After settling everything, Dong Mo pulled up the livestream window in the air. Sitting on the ground, he carefully checked his earnings from the last two days. As of now, his stream had upgraded to Level 2, and his follower count had surpassed three hundred.
There was also a red system notification in the backend: Because his follower count was growing faster than fifty percent of new streamers, he had been automatically signed up for the “Newcomer PK Event” in two weeks. If he wanted to cancel, he needed to do so within three days.
Dong Mo was momentarily speechless. It seemed “livestream battles” were popular in every world. Furthermore, the PK details showed it included all sectors of the platform. This meant he might end up battling streamers from all sorts of strange planets.
He was truly going to meet “aliens” now.
After thinking for a moment and looking at the four hundred or so Star Credits in his balance, Dong Mo decided to accept the registration. Although most of the gifts in his stream were small or mid-tier and he could not guarantee stable daily traffic, this was the crucial early stage for building momentum. More exposure was always good. Even if he lost the PK, he would at least establish some presence.
Besides, he had never seen what “aliens” from other planets looked like!
While thinking, he pressed the red “Start Broadcast” button once more to begin today’s stream. As soon as the channel titled “Will the puppy survive today too? Yes, he will” went live, fifty viewers immediately flooded in.
【Mo Mo is a bit late today! I have been waiting for you for a long time!】 【Good morning, Mo Mo!】 【I saw that the baby was signed up for this month’s Newcomer PK! Just in case you do not know, remember to prepare a talent performance!】 【Does Mo Mo know what a PK is?】
Seeing the viewers greet him so warmly and hearing their concerns about his lack of knowledge, Dong Mo felt a surge of warmth. He gently brushed the bangs on his forehead and gave a healing, adorable smile to the camera. “Good morning, brothers and sisters!”
“I came back from getting water before starting the stream today, so I am a bit late. But I did not sleep in!”
“I saw the PK system notification. I know what a PK is, so do not worry, everyone!”
“Just wait and see my talent performance when the time comes! I will let you all know what ‘Puppy Attack, No Problem At All’ means!”
He was high-spirited as he spoke to the audience. Dong Mo used to enjoy watching various livestreams and knew well that viewers valued the emotional value a streamer provided. Sure enough, the chat became even more active due to his morning enthusiasm, accompanied by a dozen free small gifts.
【Mo Mo really has a great mindset. His life is so miserable, yet he can still smile QAQ.】
【Clumsy puppy should focus on surviving first. Do not say it is “Puppy Attack, No Problem At All” now, only for it to become “Puppy Attack, Problems Everywhere” in two weeks hahahahahaha.】
【The person above even rhymed. I am crying!】
【By the way, Mo Mo, did you originally belong to the Tsukiyama Tribe? That tribe full of giant wolf Beastmen?】
Seeing someone mention the “Tsukiyama Tribe,” Dong Mo blinked, wondering if they knew something. “Yes, I was from the Tsukiyama Tribe before, but now I am working on my own.”
【The Tsukiyama Tribe is a pretty powerful tribe on the Beastman Planet. It is not like they cannot afford to raise a Sub-Beastman cub like Mo Mo, right? Why did they kick you out?】 【Did you do something bad?】
New viewers who did not understand the situation began to post some sharp, unpleasant comments. Dong Mo did not get angry. He tilted his head slightly. “I did not do anything bad. I am a mixed breed, and my tail is too curly. They thought it might bring bad luck to the tribe.”
He did not explicitly say he was “driven out” by force; he simply stated the facts the chat was curious about.
【! ! What is wrong with a curly tail! What century is this! I thought these big tribes on the Beastman Planet would not be so superstitious!】 【What a pity. If Mo Mo still belonged to the Tsukiyama Tribe, he could have been promoted by ‘Yue Xun’ next door.】 【Yue Xun? Oh! That handsome beige wolf guy, right? I remember him, but he recently said he was going to marry his partner and is taking a break from streaming.】 【Actually, it is better not to let Mo Mo get involved with him. I still remember the last time his partner was being sarcastic in the stream toward fans who called Yue Xun ‘husband.’】 【Does Mo Mo know Yue Xun?】 【How pitiful, even the big tribes do not want Mo Mo QAQ.】
The names being repeated in the chat were foreign to Dong Mo, but judging by the surname, they must be famous figures from the Tsukiyama Tribe.
His silver pupils constricted as a clever idea flashed through his head. He was still one to hold a grudge. He would definitely pay back the Tsukiyama Tribe for their mistreatment, just not right now. Since the chat was asking if he knew Yue Xun and pitying him for being exiled, Dong Mo fluttered his long eyelashes and feigned a hurt expression. His eyes shimmered with a hint of moisture, and he pursed his lips. His small face instantly became exceptionally aggrieved.
“I am sorry, I do not know Yue Xun.”
“Actually, I am not sure why they kicked me out either. But that is not important anymore. I have already started working hard to live on my own, so please do not pity me! As you can see, I can live very well by myself! Oh, wait, and with the kitten!”
The micro-expressions on Dong Mo’s face were incredibly rich. He strictly controlled each layer of emotional progression, successfully performing a “green tea” act of acting cute and pitiful.
First, he cleared himself of any connection to Yue Xun! Then, he signaled that he was innocent, a victim who was kicked out of the tribe! Finally, he highlighted his determination to survive and demonstrated his strength through action!
What was this called? This was called “Contrast Charm”!
Sure enough, while Dong Mo was playing out his little schemes, the chat refreshed rapidly. He even received two mid-tier gifts worth several hundred credits each:
【Waaaaa, why is our Mo Mo so heart-wrenchingly pitiful!】 【He does not even try to leech off Yue Xun’s traffic! Everyone, look at this hardworking puppy!】 【My heart melted at that look in his eyes. Mama will buy things for you!】 【Since Mo Mo said so, let us not mention Yue Xun’s name anymore.】 【To be honest, Mo Mo’s stream feels more heartwarming. It warms my cold dead heart, boohoo.】
Seeing that his “selling misery” plan was a success, Dong Mo stopped looking at the chat and began his tasks.
Once the water was boiled, he first dampened a piece of animal skin to wipe away the herbs that had been on the kitten’s eyes all night. Then, he crushed a fresh leaf of Lingxi Grass and carefully reapplied it. The kitten did not react much this time; it seemed it was no longer in pain.
“Your adaptability is really fast,” Dong Mo marveled as he watched the little guy sleep soundly.
After finishing the medicine, he turned back to the fire. Now that the kitten’s fever was gone, its nutrition needed to keep up. While roasting the second-to-last piece of snake meat, Dong Mo planned his day:
“First, I need to find some large branches and a stone to block the cave entrance.”
“There is not much meat left. I plan to go back to where that giant-toothed beast rolled down to see if I can scavenge anything.”
“Oh right! There are also the snake’s internal organs I buried at the dirt cave!”
Since there was no one else to talk to, Dong Mo treated the livestream as his listener, speaking his thoughts and plans aloud. He peppered his speech with cute interjections. With his exquisite features and ethereal voice, this self-muttering did not seem forced; instead, it made him look pure and adorable:
【Clumsy puppy, take it one thing at a time. You are all alone and still growing, do not overwork yourself.】
【The carcass of that giant-toothed beast? You better be prepared to fight other wild beasts. In this weather, who knows how many creatures are waiting for a bite.】
【Holy crap, family! Yue Xun is live next door! And he just mentioned Mo Mo!】
