Did My Wife Break Up With Me Today? - Chapter 90
Chapter 90: Extra 1 — Study Abroad Chronicles (IV)
The male voice from the video call traveled through the speakers and into Chen Kongqing’s ears. His ear tips turned a shade redder instantly.
The maid outfit…
Xu Jingmo had bought that set for him. In all his years, this was the first time he had seen such a garment in person. The cut and fabric were actually quite nice, but it was incredibly “airy”… there was a pitifully small amount of fabric.
He hadn’t tried it on properly yet; he had only held it up against himself in front of the mirror. The hem was so short it felt like it wouldn’t cover anything at all.
Thinking of this, Chen Kongqing asked quite seriously, “This kind of clothing… you can’t wear it outside, right?”
On the screen, Xu Jingmo’s gaze shifted. “You want to wear it out?”
“N-No! How is that possible?” Chen Kongqing’s face flushed with urgency. “I just… thought of the question.”
“There are versions you can wear out, but the one I ordered for you is strictly for home use,” Xu Jingmo answered calmly, his eyes clouding over with a layer of ambiguity.
Chen Kongqing grumbled inwardly: Just call it lingerie if it’s lingerie. “Only for home use”—why not just say “only for the bed”?
“What are you thinking about?” Xu Jingmo saw right through him.
“N-nothing.” Naturally, he wasn’t going to say that out loud. After stammering for a while, he finally mumbled, “Um… do you… do you really want to see?”
Actually, it wasn’t that he couldn’t accept wearing these clothes. It was just that they weren’t together—what was the point of him wearing it?
“Mhm. Baby, just wear it for Husband to see,” Xu Jingmo said bluntly.
Chen Kongqing’s cheeks grew even hotter, but he slowly pushed himself off the dining chair. “Then you… w-wait a second.”
He placed the phone face-down on the table. “I’m going to go get ready.”
A light chuckle came from the speaker. “Can’t I watch the preparation?”
Chen Kongqing pouted. “No! Just wait.”
Xu Jingmo: “Alright. Hurry up, baby.”
…
Chen Kongqing ignored the voice coming from the phone. The outfit was surprisingly complicated to put on; he wasn’t even sure where to put his head at first. Once he finally had it on, he stood in front of the full-length mirror for a long time.
The size was perfect, but it was… really, really short. He uncomfortably tugged the hem downward.
“Baby, aren’t you dressed yet?” the neglected phone called out.
“C-coming.” Chen Kongqing bit his lip and walked back, his heart thumping wildly.
Finally, he pointed the camera at himself, but he didn’t dare show his face. He used a high-angle shot looking down. “Um… it’s a bit too short, the skirt.”
“Show me in the mirror,” Xu Jingmo’s voice dropped. It wasn’t exactly a command, but Chen Kongqing found himself instinctively following the instruction and running to the mirror.
He flipped the camera and aimed it at the glass. The phone was just large enough to hide his face, which was already as red as an apple. The electronic current of the call mixed with the sound of breathing, making the atmosphere feel stiflingly intimate.
Chen Kongqing didn’t dare look at Xu Jingmo on the screen, nor did he dare look at himself in the mirror.
“Qingqing, show me your face,” Xu Jingmo said again, his voice accompanied by a slight, sharp intake of breath.
Chen Kongqing had no choice but to move the phone, revealing his face. “There… happy now?”
Xu Jingmo looked at the screen. He saw the rabbit’s flushed cheeks, his fair, well-proportioned body, and the exquisite collarbones exposed above the low neckline. The black-and-white maid outfit featured a cinched waist that emphasized his figure, with lace trimmings as an accent.
No one would ever know the impact of this visual. And Xu Jingmo would never give anyone else the chance to see it.
A heavy, ragged breath came from the video. Chen Kongqing finally shifted his eyes to the screen. All he could see was the ceiling light of the master bedroom back home. The camera was shaking, accompanied by the sound of Xu Jingmo’s labored breathing.
Chen Kongqing’s ears felt like they were going to explode. His throat felt dry. “W-what are you doing?”
Xu Jingmo’s voice was even raspier. “Thinking of you, Qingqing.”
Chen Kongqing was originally too embarrassed to speak, but he realized he had been in California for a whole semester without going back. Xu Jingmo had planned to visit, but work had kept him tied down. Strictly speaking, they hadn’t seen each other in nearly four months.
Chen Kongqing licked his lips. Influenced by Xu Jingmo, he felt a heat rising through his own body.
“Qingqing, do you miss me?”
Chen Kongqing bit his lip, grabbed the phone, and scrambled onto the bed, burying his head under the duvet. The sound of Xu Jingmo’s breathing didn’t stop.
“Qingqing, do you miss me or not?”
“Mhm…” Chen Kongqing responded softly. “Do you… do you want me to do anything?”
He thought Xu Jingmo would ask him to point the camera somewhere specific. Although it was incredibly shameless, he was willing.
“Just call my name,” Xu Jingmo’s voice drifted through the speaker.
Chen Kongqing hesitated, then stammered, “Xu… Xu Jingmo.”
Xu Jingmo chuckled. “Change it, baby.”
Chen Kongqing’s fingertips brushed his own lips. The redness had already spread down his neck. “Hus… Husband?”
Xu Jingmo seemed to suck in a breath of cold air, and the camera on the other end shook even more violently. “I want to hear you call me Gege, baby.”
Chen Kongqing bit his lip. He felt like he was being bewitched by Xu Jingmo. How could someone’s breathing sound so good? Under a strange spell, he opened his lips. “Gege…”
The rabbit’s voice was soft and airy, like a ball of cotton. The person on the other end didn’t make any more requests; the breathing simply turned into heavy, unbearable gasps.
The sound continued for a long time, making Chen Kongqing’s face burn. He lay on the bed, the hem of the outfit so short it felt like he was wearing nothing at all. He shifted, rubbing gently against the soft duvet, and let out a soft, broken sound. “Nng…”
On the phone, Xu Jingmo aimed the camera back at his own face. “Baby, you miss me too, don’t you?”
Chen Kongqing saw it. That usually calm face was flushed with desire, his eyes shimmering with the same heat. Chen Kongqing felt that Xu Jingmo showing him this face was a drug in itself. He let out a soft moan, his right hand moving downward. “Xu Jingmo…”
“I’m here,” Xu Jingmo’s Adam’s apple bobbed. “Qingqing, let me see.”
“No.” Chen Kongqing refused immediately. He wouldn’t let Xu Jingmo see him like that.
Xu Jingmo sounded a bit aggrieved. “Can’t I even see your face?”
Chen Kongqing squeezed his legs together, but eventually gave in and held the phone up with his left hand. He only showed Xu Jingmo one eye. Because he was moving, the screen was shaking slightly. But it wasn’t enough; the ache was too much.
The rabbit sniffled. “It’s so hard… Xu Jingmo…”
“Qingqing, move faster. Grip a little tighter. Do you want Gege to teach you?”
“Ugh…” Chen Kongqing trembled, his voice shaking. “Gege…”
“I’m here. What do you want Gege to do?”
Chen Kongqing exhaled several times, biting his lip, and finally whispered in a breathy voice: “I want Gege to love me.”
…
That night was far too wild. Chen Kongqing didn’t even know how it started, and he certainly hadn’t expected them to be able to do such things across a screen.
The next few days were a blur of busywork. He submitted his papers, but still had final exams. However, this was the last week! Once it was over, he could go home for the Lunar New Year!
He started looking for flights. Xu Jingmo also seemed busy with year-end reports and hospital duties. On Friday, Chen Kongqing spent the whole day in the lab and dragged his half-dead body home. He didn’t want to cook; he just wanted to collapse on the leather sofa.
But he had promised Jen he would make some River Snail Rice Noodles tonight and give him a bowl to return the favor for the fried rice. Supporting himself, he prepared to get up.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Knock, knock.
Chen Kongqing shuffled over, assuming it was Jen. In this foreign land, no one else would come by.
“Jen, wait a moment, I haven’t—” Chen Kongqing said as he opened the door.
His words died in his throat. The person at the door wasn’t Jen. It was…
Xu Jingmo.
Chen Kongqing froze, his hand still on the metal handle. His brain felt like it had jammed. He could only stare with wide eyes.
Xu Jingmo stood there with a small suitcase, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Jen?”
