Deliberate Possession [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 64.2
Chapter 64.2: What to Do
She was an hour early.
The warm breath tickled the side of her neck, and Jiang Yumian couldn’t help but shrink her shoulders. It tickled.
“Let go of me, I’ll turn up the air conditioner.”
Jing Xiaoyan nodded, but didn’t let go immediately. She held Jiang Yumian for a few seconds, and when Jiang Yumian wasn’t paying attention, she kissed her on the side of her neck.
The sudden kiss sent a jolt through Jiang Yumian’s body, and her heart trembled.
She turned her head and glared at Jing Xiaoyan, threatening her with no effect, “Mess around again and you can go eat by yourself.”
“You won’t abandon me,” Jing Xiaoyan smiled, looking at her confidently.
Jiang Yumian turned up the air conditioner two degrees and refused to argue with Jing Xiaoyan about it.
Jing Xiaoyan only sat still for two seconds. As soon as Jiang Yumian picked up the tablet again, she immediately snuggled up to her, resting on her shoulder with her face pressed against her.
Jiang Yumian just took a breath, about to tell her to move away, but Jing Xiaoyan spoke faster than her. “You’re busy, I won’t bother you. It’s just that my face is hurting from the cold. Warm me up. Hugging you warms me up faster than the air conditioner.”
Jiang Yumian scrolled on the tablet. Although she knew Jing Xiaoyan was doing it on purpose, she didn’t say anything.
Su Mumu was right. Compared to Chu Qianyun, Jing Xiaoyan was much better at pursuing people.
But it was also mainly because she indulged her, not restraining Jing Xiaoyan’s little actions, which is why she became more daring.
Jing Xiaoyan felt warmer. Her eyes were fixed on the coffee table in front of them. The photos from yesterday showed it was covered in fresh flowers.
But the flowers that were on the coffee table were gone. She didn’t know how Jiang Yumian dealt with them, but Jing Xiaoyan was very happy.
She couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
Attracted by her movement, Jiang Yumian tilted her head and asked in a low voice, “What are you laughing at?”
Jing Xiaoyan rubbed against her, chuckling as she said, “I should have brought a bouquet of flowers.”
Her tone was a little smug. “There are no flowers in your office.”
Jiang Yumian sighed softly. “If you were standing downstairs holding a bouquet of flowers, you’d be on the entertainment trending list again.”
Jing Xiaoyan’s hands couldn’t stay still. She hugged Jiang Yumian again and said proudly, “Let it trend! When those people you chased away see how good-looking your girlfriend is, they’ll definitely give up.”
Jiang Yumian turned her head, opened her mouth, and met her eyes. The words “not my girlfriend” were swallowed back. She neither admitted nor denied it.
Their eyes met. Jiang Yumian pondered for two seconds and changed the subject. “What do you mean by ‘people I chased away’?”
Jing Xiaoyan blinked. “Just those people who came to ask you out today.”
Jiang Yumian tapped the back of the hand that was hugging her in front of her.
“I politely asked them to leave.”
Jing Xiaoyan snorted softly. “You chased them away.”
Jiang Yumian didn’t argue with her. Knowing she was overcome with jealousy, she let her say whatever she wanted. Anyway, this situation wouldn’t last for many days. Soon, no one would send her flowers.
She thought about Jing Xiaoyan’s words just now and realized something was wrong.
“You’ve only been here for half an hour, and you’ve been outside the whole time. How do you know more than one person came?”
She had only asked one person to leave in the past half hour. The previous ones had come during the lunch break.
Jing Xiaoyan paused, then hedged. “I ran into your assistant when I came upstairs, and she told me.”
Jiang Yumian quickly exposed her. “Xiao Zou left half an hour ago.”
Jing Xiaoyan blinked. She had indeed met Zou Xian half an hour ago, who then led her to the lounge. She chatted with her for a few minutes and learned everything.
She only said that because she thought Zou Xian had already returned from outside.
Jiang Yumian narrowed her eyes at her. “Hmm?”
Jing Xiaoyan snuggled up to her again and said directly, “Anyway, Assistant Zou told me.”
Then she kissed Jiang Yumian’s face a few times.
Jiang Yumian’s ears, hidden by her hair, quickly turned red from the sudden kisses. She had been kissed by her many times recently, but she still got shy every time.
Soon, she forgot about questioning Jing Xiaoyan. It wasn’t a major issue anyway.
Glancing at the tablet that had just automatically turned off, Jing Xiaoyan quickly released her. “You go back to work.”
Jiang Yumian also looked at the tablet following her gaze, pursed her lips, “There’s nothing much to look at. Let’s go eat.”
It was almost time to get off work anyway. Leaving a few minutes early was no problem, especially since her colleagues in the outer office would be happier if she left earlier.
Jing Xiaoyan was happy to be with her, and she didn’t care where they went. It was best if she could get off work early.
However, her good mood was completely ruined when she encountered a beauty holding a bouquet of flowers downstairs.
Her Mianmian was too popular.
Jiang Yumian reached out and patted the back of Jing Xiaoyan’s hand, signaling her not to overthink.
Just as she was comforting Jing Xiaoyan, the person had already walked up to them.
Jiang Yumian ignored the flowers in her hand and asked curiously, “Cui Jia, why are you here too?”
Jing Xiaoyan frowned. This one actually knew her. A little dangerous.
Cui Jia sighed deeply, her expression almost matching Jing Xiaoyan’s, also looking very impatient.
“Jiang Yumian, can you check your phone?”
Then she directly shoved the flowers into her arms. “These flowers are for you. Don’t overthink it. I’m just delivering them.”
Jiang Yumian subconsciously accepted the flowers—bright red roses. She found a folded card inside with a golden edge, quite luxurious.
Before she could open it, Cui Jia explained. “I didn’t read the card. Mission accomplished. I’m leaving.”
Jiang Yumian called out to her, “Hey, who asked you to deliver these?”
Cui Jia twitched her mouth. Her tone was very poor when mentioning the person who asked her to deliver the flowers. “Who else could make me run errands? My brother. He said all the people sending you flowers are girls, and he was too embarrassed to come himself. He asked me to help deliver them, saying since he’s a guy, you’d definitely remember him.”
After saying that, she looked at the person standing next to Jiang Yumian. Jing Xiaoyan was wearing a mask, so she didn’t recognize her, although she felt familiar. She only looked for two seconds, waved her hand, and said she was leaving.
Jiang Yumian shoved the flowers into Jing Xiaoyan’s hands and opened the card herself.
Looking at the flowers in her hands, Jing Xiaoyan’s disgust almost overflowed. She needed to find a trash can quickly and toss this ominous thing. Remember him? Dream on. Mianmian could only be hers.
Jing Xiaoyan was still wrapped up in her disgust when she suddenly heard Jiang Yumian let out a cold laugh next to her.
She froze for a moment, turned her head, and saw Jiang Yumian looking at the card.
“What does it say?” Jing Xiaoyan was curious.
Jiang Yumian folded the card, not wanting to pollute Jing Xiaoyan’s eyes, and simply summarized. “It says to marry him, that he’ll lead me onto the ‘right path,’ and that I should experience what it’s like to be with a man, saying…”
“Enough!” Jing Xiaoyan’s face darkened, and she interrupted her directly, looking disgusted. “Stop grossing me out.”
She felt the flowers in her hand were even more disgusting. It wasn’t the flowers’ fault, but she just found them repulsive. She felt her hands were getting dirty.
The two quickly found a trash can. Jing Xiaoyan tossed the flowers in, then took the card from Jiang Yumian’s hand and angrily smashed it onto the discarded flowers.
After throwing it, she clapped her hands, then looked down, patting her clothes, frowning with intense distaste.
Jiang Yumian watched her actions and smiled. She suddenly said, “Jing Xiaoyan, you are really cute.”
Jing Xiaoyan’s hand, which was patting her clothes, froze. She quickly snorted. “Cute is cute. If you say I’m cute, then you like me.”
Jiang Yumian shrugged and volunteered an explanation. “That was Cui Jia just now. Her brother is Cui Kun. My relationship with them isn’t great, but we were high school classmates.”
She paused as she spoke, then suddenly added, “Their family company has a collaboration with mine.”
She intentionally teased Jing Xiaoyan, and seeing her angry-but-unable-to-speak reaction, Jiang Yumian was satisfied.
She leaned close to Jing Xiaoyan and whispered with a smile, “But that Cui Kun completely disgusted me. There will never be any collaboration again in the future.”
Jing Xiaoyan’s frown immediately eased. She nodded, snorted forcefully, and quickly asked, “Is his family’s company very big?”
Jiang Yumian rubbed her chin. “Not very big.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Jing Xiaoyan looking down, lost in thought. Jiang Yumian waved her hand in front of her, signaling her to snap out of it. “Don’t think about it. I’ll go drive. I’ll take you to try a new restaurant.”
It was almost dark outside, and the cold wind was blowing on their faces. Jing Xiaoyan no longer felt like thinking. She was feeling a little cold, so she directly linked arms with Jiang Yumian. “Let’s go.”
Jiang Yumian ate dinner with Jing Xiaoyan for two consecutive nights.
It wasn’t until Friday, when Jing Xiaoyan became busy, that Jiang Yumian went home for dinner.
Although she had to rush for the next day’s live broadcast, her aunt was now at home. Besides that one dinner together, they hadn’t eaten together since.
Since her aunt was home, she should at least go home to tell them she was going out today and have dinner together.
She greeted the people in the living room when she returned, played with Jing Xiaoyan (the dog) for a while, and then went upstairs to her room to take a shower.
Dinner was ready when she came downstairs.
Jiang Yumian was eating fine, but the atmosphere at the dinner table today felt oddly wrong.
Her mother and aunt kept looking at her.
Jiang Yumian swallowed the last mouthful of soup and finally couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“Is something wrong?”
Just as her aunt put down her chopsticks and was about to speak, her mother coughed loudly.
Jiang Yumian looked over and said directly, “Mom, what are you doing? Aunt, just say what you want to say. Is my mom dragging you to play games again?”
Her mother sighed, holding her forehead, and said to her aunt, “You tell her.”
Her aunt smiled, her tone very conflicted. “Well… that… Mianmian.”
Jiang Yumian was confused. “Hmm?”
Her mother took a deep breath and said directly, “Your aunt wants to tell you that Jing Xiaoyan is actually your cousin. Her father, Jing Banyie, is your uncle-in-law.”
With a “CLANG”, the spoon in Jiang Yumian’s hand dropped into the bowl.
She was stunned for a while, desperately trying to process the meaning of that sentence several times in her mind. Finally realizing she hadn’t misunderstood, she felt like she was about to collapse.
She looked at her mother with pleading eyes, her voice trembling as she asked, “Jing Xiaoyan, is she really my cousin?”
Her mother nodded.
Jiang Yumian pressed her lips together, supported her head with one hand, and slapped her forehead in distress. So she hadn’t lied to her that day. She really was…
Seeing Jiang Yumian’s reaction, her mother quickly pulled her arm and explained, “She is your cousin, yes, but we are not blood relatives, truly.”
Jiang Yumian’s nearly crashed brain finally started working again. She looked up at her mother, her tone a little urgent. “What do you mean?”
Her aunt coughed softly. “It means that even though her father married me, Xiaoyan is not my child. She’s his daughter with his ex-wife.”
Jiang Yumian nodded numbly. The initial revelation had left her completely flustered. Although it was explained clearly, she still found it somewhat unacceptable, and her heart was beating erratically.
No wonder her mother kept telling her to be psychologically prepared for her aunt’s return.
Seeing her look down without speaking, the people at the dinner table remained silent, allowing her a few minutes to calm down.
Jiang Yumian swallowed, her eyes turning red. Jing Xiaoyan, that liar, how could she do this?
She forced back the moisture in her eyes, took a light breath, and composed herself.
When she looked up again, her gaze was frighteningly calm.
“So, what do you want me to do, Aunt?”
Hearing her question, everyone at the table was momentarily stunned.
Before her aunt could speak, Jiang Jiyu, who had been holding back her worry, couldn’t bear to see her daughter so distressed.
She reached out and patted Jiang Yumian’s back. “It’s what you want to do. As long as Mianmian also likes Xiao Yan, your mother will support whatever you choose.”
Jiang Yumian’s nose stung. The tears she had just forced back welled up again, and her emotional words spilled out directly: “I don’t want to like Jing Xiaoyan anymore.”
