Deliberate Possession [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Grievance
Normally, in such a situation, Chu Qianyun would definitely retort to Jing Xiaoyan for saying something so impolite.
But now, her mind was on fire, a complete brainstorm. Just now, she was condemning her in her heart for being a liar, but after listening for a moment, the more she heard, the more she felt sorry for Jiang Yumian.
Su Mumu felt the atmosphere was a little awkward. Seeing Chu Qianyun spacing out, she secretly pinched her again.
Chu Qianyun grimaced in pain, bit her lip, and said, “Ahem, Mianmian, don’t mind her. She’s never been in a relationship; she doesn’t understand these things.”
She elbowed Jing Xiaoyan. You should thank me!
Jiang Yumian was just stunned and not angry; she even felt a bit guilty.
She snapped out of it, met Jing Xiaoyan’s apologetic eyes, and quickly smiled: “Ah, it’s fine. It’s the truth.”
She added: “We genuinely don’t have feelings yet. We haven’t been together for long, but maybe we will later.”
Jing Xiaoyan’s lips curved. Hearing this, her heart warmed up again. The apology in her eyes instantly vanished, and she looked at her with a beaming smile, looking very happy.
Chu Qianyun and Su Mumu sat between the two. Chu Qianyun held Su Mumu’s hand, twitched the corner of her mouth, and absent-mindedly pinched Su Mumu’s fingers. She clicked her tongue in her heart, thinking that Jing Xiaoyan was happy with just that, and was quite innocent.
Su Mumu had no idea what she was thinking, only feeling pity that the CP she had just started shipping was over.
Jiang Yumian, on the other hand, was pondering the words Chu Qianyun had deliberately revealed. So, Jing Xiaoyan had never been in a relationship either.
She suddenly said: “We’re all ‘know-it-alls’ now, huh?”
Who would have thought that all four of them liked girls?
Jing Xiaoyan was in a good mood now, and she nodded to everything Jiang Yumian said. “Mhm, know-it-alls.”
They hadn’t chatted for long when there was a knock on the door.
Jing Xiaoyan went to open the door, expecting her assistant, but unexpectedly, Jiang Yumian’s manager also came.
Jing Xiaoyan greeted them and stepped aside to let them in.
“Weren’t you supposed to come in the evening?” Jing Xiaoyan looked at her assistant, Xiao Feng. She had agreed to bring the luggage in the evening.
Xiao Feng nodded and explained, “Sister An asked me to come over now.”
She looked at the person who came with her and explained, “We met downstairs at the hotel.”
Hearing the commotion, Jiang Yumian’s eyes lit up. She rushed over excitedly to An Zhiyue, hugging her and repeatedly shouting, “Sister An! Sister An! Sister An!”
“Wuwuwu, Sister An, I missed you so much.”
Jing Xiaoyan and the assistant were blocked at the doorway, looking at them with a heavy gaze, feeling a little sour inside.
Xiao Feng glanced at her boss out of the corner of her eye. After reading the trending topic, the answer in her heart became increasingly clear.
Her boss was probably secretly in love with her!
An Zhiyue held her breath. She was squeezed so tightly she couldn’t breathe. She’s so strong.
“Let go! Let go! I was just passing by to check in.”
Jiang Yumian hugged her, patting her back hard twice. “Sister An, I knew you wouldn’t abandon me, right?”
An Zhiyue gritted her teeth. She could tell those two slaps were definitely revenge for neglecting her these past few days.
She struck a blow: “I really was just passing by. My newly signed artists are nearby, and I had something to deal with.”
Jiang Yumian finally released her, looking hurt and bewildered.
“You signed a new artist?”
Her tone was full of disbelief, a feeling of betrayal. Her manager had always only managed her. She felt deeply upset.
Before An Zhiyue could explain, Jiang Yumian’s face crumpled. She didn’t care if others were around, she just looked at An Zhiyue, wanting to confirm if what she said was true.
An Zhiyue cleared her throat. There were four other people in the room watching. She said helplessly, “It’s two.”
The boss had arranged it. After all, it was her job. She was bound to manage other artists sooner or later, but knowing Jiang Yumian was sensitive and a bit fragile, she hadn’t told her.
Until now, the higher-ups had finally intervened, explicitly telling her to let Jiang Yumian fend for herself.
If she didn’t tell her now, Jiang Yumian would be even sadder when she found out later.
Jiang Yumian’s nose stung. She felt like crying, full of grievance. It’s one thing to sign one, but she signed two.
Sister An really doesn’t want her anymore.
Jing Xiaoyan glanced inside, signaling for her assistant to enter first. It wasn’t good to keep standing there.
The assistant knew what she meant. She pushed the suitcase, walking past them, and naturally broke the atmosphere, “Hello, teachers. I’m here to deliver Sister Xiaoyan’s luggage.”
Chu Qianyun smiled and nodded, “Xiao Feng is still so dedicated. Have your boss give you a raise.”
Xiao Feng nodded without reservation: “My boss heard that. Thank you, Teacher Chu.”
Hehe, my boss is great, and good to me. Most importantly, she listens to advice. If I ask, she gives.
Su Mumu kicked Chu Qianyun and looked at Jiang Yumian with concern.
She knew Jiang Yumian had always had a very good relationship with her manager, and Jiang Yumian relied on her more. In all the years since her debut, Sister An was the one who cared about her and accompanied her the most.
Chu Qianyun was confused: “Why did you kick me?”
Su Mumu sighed: “Worried.”
Chu Qianyun was baffled. Kicking her would make her less worried?
Sister An patted Jiang Yumian’s arm. “Okay, go inside. Xiao Zou said you don’t have many clothes, so I brought some for you. The weather is getting cold, don’t catch a chill.”
Xiao Zou was Jiang Yumian’s assistant, who had returned to work at the company. Her job wasn’t just to take care of Jiang Yumian.
She was initially hired as the general manager’s special assistant, but was then directly assigned to Jiang Yumian.
As for what that meant, Jiang Yumian knew well. The hint was obvious enough.
Jiang Yumian lowered her head, pulling the suitcase. “I got it. Thank you, Sister An. Go back to your work.”
An Zhiyue sighed, “Don’t be sad. I’ll talk to you after you finish the show. This is a bit rushed. I really shouldn’t stay here. I got the news secretly. The production team should be arriving soon. You all better get ready.”
Xiao Feng came out after putting down the luggage inside and quickly chimed in, “Yes, teachers, please get ready. Sister An and I will leave first.”
Jing Xiaoyan, who had been standing behind them, frowned, walked inside, and exchanged a look with Chu Qianyun.
The production team was coming earlier than they thought. It was only two o’clock in the afternoon.
It probably wouldn’t start at five.
Jiang Yumian kicked the suitcase. She was also confused about why the production team was coming, but she just gave a faint “oh.”
She should have guessed that her time to be carefree was limited. This might be her last variety show.
Seeing her low spirits, An Zhiyue also felt bad. After all, she was a child she had watched grow up.
“It’s so rushed. Why don’t you sit down for a bit before you leave?” Su Mumu quickly got up to see them off, not even having offered them water.
An Zhiyue patted Jiang Yumian’s head, “We won’t sit. The production team will be here in half an hour. Hurry up and get ready. They’re sneaky.”
The coaxing tone made Jiang Yumian feel even more sour. She snorted lightly, her voice wilted, “I know.”
After they left, only the four of them remained in the room.
Jing Xiaoyan subtly watched Jiang Yumian, seeing her push the box with a normal expression, say she needed to get ready, and then return to her room.
Jing Xiaoyan pursed her lips. She wanted to comfort her, but she wasn’t entitled to follow her in. Only after the door closed did she sigh, then turned her attention to Chu Qianyun.
“Didn’t you say five o’clock?”
Su Mumu also looked at her. “What five o’clock?”
Chu Qianyun twitched her mouth. She was immediately thrown under the bus.
She vaguely hugged Su Mumu’s arm and whispered, “How was I supposed to know the production team would lie to me?”
She quickly explained to Su Mumu, “I just found out. I was about to tell you, but then they arrived.”
Su Mumu squeezed her face and snickered.
Jing Xiaoyan looked away, not wanting to watch their intimate display.
She only reached out and patted Chu Qianyun’s shoulder. “About what just happened…”
Chu Qianyun turned her head and winked at her: “What happened just now? What are you talking about?”
Jing Xiaoyan shook her head. She would only feel relieved after hearing what Chu Qianyun said. As long as she didn’t reveal it, no one would know that Jiang Yumian’s girlfriend was her.
Su Mumu was confused about the coded language they were speaking, but she quickly dismissed it. After Jing Xiaoyan also left, she pulled Chu Qianyun back to the room to get ready.
The first thing Jiang Yumian did when she returned to her room was to message her mom, complaining about her being heartless.
Then, she opened her suitcase and sorted through her clothes.
The phone on the bed suddenly rang. Jiang Yumian looked at it and quickly answered.
Her voice was soft: “Sister.”
Jing Xiaoyan smiled: “What are you doing?”
Jiang Yumian patted the clothes in the box, sounding weak: “Choosing clothes. The live broadcast might start soon.”
“What’s wrong? Are you in a bad mood?”
Jiang Yumian snorted softly. Knowing she would be able to hear it, she didn’t hide it and recounted what had just happened, getting more and more aggrieved as she spoke.
Fortunately, with Jing Xiaoyan’s comfort, she slowly vented everything, feeling much better. Finally, wiping away the tears welling up in her eyes, she accepted the situation.
“Sister An isn’t going to manage me anymore. I’ll probably return to the company after I finish this variety show.”
Jing Xiaoyan pursed her lips. “Do you want to go back?”
Jiang Yumian lowered her eyes, remaining silent for a while. The other person didn’t urge her to answer. She thought and thought, and finally nodded, “I have to go back.”
Sensing the silence on the other end, Jiang Yumian quickly changed the subject, “Sister, remember to watch me if you have time. If you don’t, you still have to find time to watch the recorded episodes. Be careful, I’m going to quiz you.”
Hearing that her mood was much better, Jing Xiaoyan tilted her head and smiled, “Okay. Go get ready.”
Jiang Yumian still wanted to chat more, but hearing the noise outside, she guessed the others were ready. She hesitated for a moment and obediently hung up the phone.
Jing Xiaoyan was the last to come out of the room.
She was wearing an outfit she had chosen earlier, a relaxed and casual style. She didn’t take her sunglasses. The production team hadn’t arrived yet, and taking them now would make it seem like she had specially prepared for it.
Jiang Yumian’s eyes lit up.
Beauties really look good in anything. The contrast was so great. Who would have guessed she was so adorable when she was younger?
Before she could compliment her, the door was knocked on again. Everyone exchanged glances.
Seeing Jing Xiaoyan go to open the door, Jiang Yumian rubbed her neck: “I’m a little nervous.”
Chu Qianyun smiled: “It’s fine. The other four are also our people.”
Jiang Yumian was surprised: “They’re also ‘know-it-alls’?”
She added: “Just like us?”
She didn’t know Jiang Yumian was misunderstanding.
Chu Qianyun nodded. “Yes.”
Jiang Yumian exaggeratedly covered her mouth and had to shut up when the staff members came in.
She was very shocked inside.
There are so many comrades in the entertainment industry!
