- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 42 - Makeup, Styling, and Test Broadcast
If Lu Jingze and Wang Xinghe reconciled, He Zheng could foresee the results.
It would be like Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang having Empress Ma.
At the very least, when they, the small fries, encountered the tyrant’s wrath, they could run to Wang Xinghe for a good cry.
There was another reason: if the threat of Wang Xinghe was gone, Zhao Yan would eventually accept him.
Thinking of Zhao Yan crying beneath him, He Zheng couldn’t help but feel his mood brighten.
It was a shard of sugar found amidst the glass in his life serving as his boss’s beast of burden.
At the goose stew restaurant.
Wang Xinghe looked at the huge pot of goose meat, vermicelli noodles, vegetables, and meatballs.
“The two of us? We can’t finish all this, can we?” Wang Xinghe usually only ate a bowl of noodles.
This whole pot looked like the equivalent of ten bowls of noodles…
“Ah, I’ll call my brother and ask if he wants to come.” Lu Wang picked up his phone and dialed Lu Ming’s number.
Lu Ming was currently resting, breathing slightly heavily in Chen Junsheng’s arms.
“Hello… Brother?” Lu Ming tried his best to make his voice sound normal.
But Chen Junsheng clearly wasn’t willing to let him go.
Lu Ming let out a muffled groan, “Mmm—”
Lu Wang asked strangely, “Why does your voice sound like that? Did you catch a cold?”
“No—I just stayed up late last night…” Lu Ming bit his lip, his eyes red at the corners, giving Chen Junsheng a look of playful reproach.
“Are you coming to the goose stew place? It’s near your school,” Lu Wang asked.
Lu Ming kicked the still-exerting Chen Junsheng with his foot.
“No, I can’t, Brother. I have to hang up,” Lu Ming hung up, then immediately hooked his arm around Chen Junsheng’s neck.
He bit his collarbone. Chen Junsheng winced in pain. “Mmm, are you a dog?”
Lu Ming wiped a tear from the corner of his eye. “It’s all your fault! Hmph! Luckily my brother is straight, otherwise, I definitely would have…”
Chen Junsheng casually pulled his slender waist closer. “Let’s continue. I’m hungry…”
After Lu Wang hung up, the two of them sat watching the large pot still stewing, eyes meeting.
“Who doesn’t stay up late playing games in college? Never mind, if he doesn’t want to come, he doesn’t want to come. We’ll pack up whatever we can’t eat.” Lu Wang checked the time: twelve thirty.
The goose stew would need another twenty minutes.
“Excuse me, sir, there’s still a thirty-minute wait in line…” A waitress’s voice sounded not far from Wang Xinghe.
Because they had arrived late, their table was closer to the door.
The sound was exceptionally clear.
Wang Xinghe and Lu Wang turned their heads simultaneously.
They saw a tall, handsome man in a black tactical jacket, standing beside a serious, refined man in a black suit.
Wang Xinghe’s eyes met Lu Jingze’s.
Lu Jingze waved in surprise. “Wow! Xinghe Ge~ You came to eat goose stew in an iron pot, too~”
Wang Xinghe: “…” Could he be any more fake?
Lu Wang was slightly excited. “Wow, is this handsome guy your friend? Since you can’t get a table, why don’t you join us?”
Lu Wang’s voice wasn’t quiet. It was too late for Wang Xinghe to stop him.
Lu Jingze seized the opportunity and said to the waitress, “We know them. Could you please add two sets of bowls and chopsticks for us?”
Lu Jingze strode over and sat down next to Wang Xinghe.
He Zheng stood politely beside Lu Wang. “We apologize for the trouble.”
“Hey, what’s with the formality? Xinghe’s friend is my friend,” Lu Wang shifted his own bowls and chopsticks aside.
He Zheng sat down.
The four people sat around the iron pot, waiting for the stew to be ready.
The moment the lid was lifted, the aroma filled the air.
Lu Jingze eagerly poured water for Wang Xinghe, picked out meat, and even removed the bones.
Lu Wang watched the two men, who seemed to have an extremely close relationship, with great envy. “I thought Xinghe didn’t have many friends since he just arrived in the capital. I didn’t expect you to have such a close relationship with someone.”
He Zheng elegantly picked up a piece of a steaming flower bun, dipped it in the soup, and placed it into his bowl.
He smiled knowingly. “Does anyone want hawthorn juice?”
Lu Wang waved his hand. “No, I don’t think so. I’m too full to drink more.”
“A small cup, maybe,” Lu Jingze said, looking at the slightly greasy meal and worrying that Wang Xinghe might feel uncomfortable.
Wang Xinghe glanced at He Zheng, who was standing up, and then at Lu Wang. “Are you finished eating?”
He really couldn’t maintain his composure in front of the overly attentive Lu Jingze.
Moreover, Lu Wang had such a good relationship with his brother-in-law. It would be bad if he noticed any clues.
“I’m about done. I’ll go pay the bill,” Lu Wang stood up.
He Zheng had already stepped forward and gently pressed his shoulder. “I’ve already paid.”
“Ah, how can I let you do that? I said I was treating today,” Lu Wang truly hadn’t realized that He Zheng had stood up to pay the bill.
“It’s nothing. We were already imposing by joining your table. Besides, we are all friends, so there’s no need to fuss over it. You can treat us next time,” He Zheng sat down, handing the hawthorn juice to Lu Jingze.
Lu Jingze poured a cup for Wang Xinghe and placed it by the table, then poured one for himself.
Seeing that Lu Jingze had finished pouring, He Zheng took the bottle and poured a cup for Lu Wang. “Have a cup to help with digestion.”
“Okay, thank you,” Lu Wang accepted it.
Finally, He Zheng poured a cup for himself, took a small sip, and found it pleasantly sweet and sour.
Wang Xinghe didn’t want to talk to Lu Jingze, but the latter was staring at him with piteous, dog-like eyes.
Even Lu Wang felt the atmosphere between them was quite intense.
In a trance, he felt like he was looking at the big golden retriever he kept at home, wagging its tail at him.
Sitting in the car, Wang Xinghe leaned against the seat back, feeling a little tired.
His fingers were slightly curled, and he stared blankly out the window at the quickly passing scenery.
“That handsome guy looks like a rich young master. Xinghe, how do you know someone like that? Was he a college classmate?” Lu Wang was genuinely too curious.
If he hadn’t mistaken it, the wristwatch on the handsome man’s hand was a Patek Philippe.
“Just a regular friend,” Wang Xinghe didn’t have any improper thoughts about Lu Jingze.
Even if the moon and the sun briefly appeared together, they could not overlap forever.
“I thought he looked like he was taking really good care of you,” Lu Wang yawned.
Wang Xinghe smiled awkwardly. “It was okay, I guess.”
Two and a half busy days later.
By the afternoon of the third day, the live broadcast room on the third floor of the company was set up.
Their company specialized in trade, dealing in various products ranging from visual arts and foreign goods, from small items like cups and accessories, to large, designer-made novelty furniture.
Wang Xinghe watched Li Li walk towards him, rubbing her hands together, a full-blown stress headache forming.
“Xinghe, let’s go! Today is the first test broadcast!” Li Li pulled him into the dressing room of the broadcast studio.
Wang Xinghe felt somewhat constrained. “I have to change clothes?”
Li Li nodded. “Since you’ll be on camera, we need to apply some base makeup, trim your eyebrows, and style your hair.”
Wang Xinghe resisted, clenching his fists. “I really am completely bad at this…”
Zhao Na popped out from the side. The cute girl with pigtails clasped her hands together and bowed to him. “Brother Wang! My entire mortgage next month rests on your shoulders!”
Wang Xinghe took a deep breath and nodded.
The makeup artist and stylist were hired by Li Li.
The stylist chose a white, fuzzy sweater with a large collar for Wang Xinghe, featuring a red heart on the left side of the chest.
For pants, they chose wide-legged gray trousers, and he wore his original athletic shoes.
His hair was lightly styled into a Japanese-inspired look.
His eyebrows were trimmed and shaded with light gray pencil. A layer of BB cream was applied to correct skin tone differences, and his lips were coated with a light pink lip balm.
When Wang Xinghe stepped out of the styling room, everyone felt the entire room instantly brighten up.
