- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 37 - I'm Sponsoring Him
Wang Mingyue seemed utterly unconcerned.
As soon as Lu Wang left, her expression returned to normal.
Her gaze was locked firmly on Wang Xinghe, a barely perceptible look of displeasure in her eyes.
The siblings hadn’t seen each other for many years, yet her first question was, “Is your brother-in-law’s company really that busy?”
When speaking over the phone, the distance made Wang Xinghe feel less hurt.
But now, seeing his sister’s cold face, his heart still ached.
He pondered for a moment, then explained, “Today is my first day of work. This company does trade, which requires interfacing with foreign clients, so work has to be scheduled according to their time.”
“It’s not exactly ‘busy,’ but the tasks are more trivial, and unexpected situations are quite frequent,” he added.
Hearing the words “foreign clients,” Wang Mingyue’s suspicion towards Chen Junsheng slightly lessened.
She immediately followed up with a second question. “Are there any young, pretty girls following your brother-in-law in the company?”
Wang Xinghe thought it over and shook his head. “Most of the people my brother-in-law interacts with are male. The only female I’ve seen so far is the company receptionist.”
Wang Mingyue’s gaze shifted to the reception desk, and her worry dissipated. She knew the receptionist was a married woman with children, whose husband was also quite handsome.
Her third question followed closely. “What about your brother-in-law?”
Wang Xinghe thought for a moment and replied, “We had lunch together, and afterward, he drove Lu Wang’s brother to school and stopped by the Art Academy to talk with a professor about some work-related matters.”
Hearing the words “Lu Wang’s brother,” Wang Mingyue completely dropped her doubts. “I understand. I’ll be leaving now.”
She stood up, brushed past Wang Xinghe, said nothing more, and walked out.
As the automatic sensor door slowly opened, a blast of cold wind rushed into the room, seemingly intent on driving out all warmth.
Wang Xinghe slightly lowered his eyes, took a deep breath, and walked towards the third floor.
In the afternoon, Wang Xinghe was busy reviewing the artwork submitted by the departments.
Out of thirteen works, he carefully selected ten, but three remained controversial and required his brother-in-law Chen Junsheng to make a final decision upon his return.
Closing time was seven-thirty in the evening.
Wang Xinghe walked out of the company entrance, and the blast of cold air made him involuntarily shrink his neck.
He tightened his scarf, quickened his pace, and walked toward his apartment building.
Wang Xinghe got out of the elevator and immediately saw someone squatting at his apartment door.
Upon closer inspection, it was Lu Jingze.
A flash of helplessness crossed Wang Xinghe’s eyes, and he strode over.
Lu Jingze heard the footsteps and suddenly looked up. Seeing it was Wang Xinghe, he quickly stood up, a smile appearing on his face.
“Good evening, Brother Xinghe~”
Wang Xinghe opened the door, his gaze falling on the bandage on Lu Jingze’s forehead, and he said concisely, “Come in.”
Lu Jingze chuckled and entered.
“Have you eaten, Brother Xinghe?” Lu Jingze familiar with the process, took off his shoes. Since there were no extra slippers, he stood on the floor in his black socks.
Wang Xinghe offered him the slippers and walked further inside while wearing his own shoes.
“What do you want to eat?” Wang Xinghe went to open the refrigerator, only to find it completely empty.
He hadn’t had a chance to buy any groceries yet.
“Shall we go grocery shopping together, Brother Xinghe?” Lu Jingze looked at him pleadingly.
Wang Xinghe hesitated for a moment, then agreed. He really wasn’t used to the taste of the nearby food.
Lu Jingze happily put on his shoes and pulled a key from his pocket.
His other sapphire blue Bugatti was parked downstairs.
Wang Xinghe stood by the car, unsure how to open the door.
Lu Jingze sat in the driver’s seat and then realized Wang Xinghe was still standing by the roadside.
He belatedly remembered that the door handle of this Bugatti Tourbillon was somewhat concealed.
He felt a bit annoyed that he had chosen this car today.
He shamefacedly got out of the car and stood by the passenger side. “This crappy car has a lunatic design; they put the handle here. It’s not user-friendly at all.”
Wang Xinghe looked at his eagerness to explain, his gaze showing resignation. “You don’t have to blame the car.”
There were probably only a few hundred of these cars in the world.
The people capable of acquiring one were, without a doubt, at the apex of the world’s pyramid.
The remaining billions of people had never even seen one, let alone knew how to open the door.
Lu Jingze found the button and pressed it lightly. The car door slowly rose, like a pair of wings preparing for take-off.
“Hehe~ If Brother Xinghe doesn’t mind, have a ride in my new car~” Lu Jingze’s sparkling eyes were full of anticipation.
What else could Wang Xinghe do but get in?
The car looked somewhat low, but the interior space was actually very well designed.
There was plenty of room for his 1.8-meter height inside.
Lu Jingze got into the car and considerately fastened his seatbelt.
“Here we go~”
Only after starting the car did Lu Jingze awkwardly remember that he didn’t know where to buy groceries…
He had never bought groceries before…
He cleared his throat, quickly pulled out his phone, and turned on the voice assistant.
He Zheng rushed out of the private room immediately and went to the restroom to answer the call.
“Hello, Boss~” Even though he was in the restroom, the noisy sounds of the bar were audible.
Lu Jingze had no habit of interfering with his employees’ after-hours life. He simply ignored it and asked, “Is there a place near Xinghe’s apartment where we can buy groceries?”
“The BHG Market Place is the closest nearby. Do you need me to call a car for you, Boss?” He Zheng was slightly tipsy, but still very professional. He always gave his tasks 200% attention for Lu Jingze.
“No need, I’ll use the navigation myself,” Lu Jingze opened his phone and navigated to BHG Market Place.
The Bugatti was very striking in the night.
He Zheng, after hanging up the phone, felt a little dizzy.
Just as he walked out of the private room, someone bumped into him.
“Oh? Chen Zheng?”
He Zheng’s expression turned cold when he heard the name he used in the past.
“You’ve mistaken me for someone else,” He Zheng didn’t want to get tangled up with these people.
But the man grabbed his arm. “Chen Zheng, how could I mistake you?”
The man in the LV outfit in front of He Zheng gripped his arm. “After all, you were quite famous in the study abroad circles in the UK.”
“In your second year of studying abroad, the Chen family went bankrupt, your father jumped off a building, and your mother jumped into the sea. And you… wouldn’t you do anything for money?” The man in the black jacket looked at He Zheng’s face.
He was quite satisfied.
“One hundred thousand a month. How about you follow me? We’re old schoolmates.”
He Zheng frowned and struggled out of his grip. “Let go of me.”
The man in the black jacket was persistent and continued to pester him. “What? Is that too little? Two hundred thousand a month.”
“Are you done or not!” He Zheng was getting angry. Just as he was about to teach these people a lesson, a figure appeared and snatched his arm back.
“Chen Zheng is my man.” Zhao Yan’s eyes, behind his gold-rimmed glasses, looked at the man in the black jacket.
This man was notorious in the study abroad circles for being highly promiscuous, and anyone who followed him usually ended up bedridden for half a year.
“So Young Master Zhao now likes this sophisticated type? Are you kidding me?” The man in the black jacket pressed his cheek, clearly not believing it.
“I seem to recall that the rumor in our study abroad circle was that Young Master Zhao liked someone else…”
The man in the black jacket’s family background was average, but he was backed by Ji Yuheng. If he took Chen Zheng away without a valid reason, it would certainly invite retaliation.
Zhao Yan had also had quite a bit to drink. He glanced at the equally drunk Chen Zheng and whispered, “Apologies for this.”
He grabbed He Zheng’s white shirt collar and kissed him.
He Zheng’s eyes widened, and he stood completely stunned.
“He’s the one I’m sponsoring for fun, one million a month. What? Is that not allowed?” Zhao Yan looked at the man in the black jacket, refusing to back down.
The man in the black jacket shrugged. “Boring. I thought…”
“Enjoy him, Young Master Zhao~”
After the man left, Zhao Yan released He Zheng. He was so drunk he almost lost his balance.
He Zheng supported his waist, his slightly tipsy face glowing, his eyes burning with intensity.
