- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 35 - Will We Reconcile?
The sky gradually brightened, and the morning light began to emerge.
The orange glow spilled into the room. Wang Xinghe opened his eyes.
His lower back was surrounded by the warmth and strength of Lu Jingze’s embrace.
His back could even feel the defined lines of Lu Jingze’s firm abdominal muscles.
Wang Xinghe stared at the ceiling for a long time, his eyes slightly flickering, before he finally slipped out of the embrace.
Since Wang Xinghe had just moved in, the apartment was empty; there was nothing at all, let alone cooking utensils.
He got out of bed quietly, not wanting to disturb Lu Jingze, who was still in deep sleep.
He put on his jacket and went downstairs to a nearby breakfast shop, bought some fresh soy milk and hot steamed buns, and carried the breakfast back upstairs.
When he returned to the apartment, Lu Jingze was still asleep.
He was curled up on the not-so-spacious bed. The wound on his head was exposed.
In the sunlight, his forehead was a bruise of blue and purple.
The injury was even more shocking than last night.
Wang Xinghe put down the buns and kept staring at the wound. He hesitated no longer.
He walked over, squatted down, and gently pushed him. “A-Ze, it’s time to get up. I have to go to the company at nine.”
Lu Jingze was sore all over, especially his head, which hurt so much that he grimaced.
He struggled to sit up, and the pain in his palms made him frown.
His entire body felt as if it were falling apart.
Seeing that Lu Jingze was uncomfortable, Wang Xinghe stepped forward, avoiding his wounds, and supported his arm.
Lu Jingze was fully awake. The events of last night—being hit by someone hired by his own mother, and then smashing his mother’s manor—surfaced in his mind.
All of it was so ridiculous, yet it made him feel incredibly frustrated.
Wang Xinghe noticed that the bandages on Lu Jingze’s hands had already seeped blood.
He didn’t say much, squatted down to put on his shoes, and carefully tied the laces.
Lu Jingze looked down, quietly watching Wang Xinghe bend over for him, a strong desire surging in his heart.
He wanted to keep this man by his side forever, no matter what it took.
Wang Xinghe stood up and helped support him. “Eat some breakfast, then have your people come pick you up.”
Wang Xinghe’s words pulled his rationality back. He closed his eyes and let out a long breath.
“Okay.”
This time, Lu Jingze was very compliant.
He sat at the dining table, obediently drinking the soy milk and eating the steamed buns.
However, the taste of the buns was truly underwhelming, not even half as good as the buns from Aunt Song’s shop.
Wang Xinghe also ate without much enthusiasm. After each of them had one.
The remaining two buns lay lonely on the table.
Lu Jingze called He Zheng.
“Yes, come pick me up.”
Hearing his boss’s calm tone, He Zheng quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
He looked at another subordinate and instructed, “Keep an eye on the people downstairs these few days. Don’t provoke Young Master Lu, or no one will be able to protect you.”
After speaking, a hidden light flashed behind the glasses of He Zheng’s eyes.
He feared that the capital would be lively for a few more days after today.
If the Crown Prince was unhappy, no one could have an easy time.
When He Zheng arrived with a set of casual clothes, Wang Xinghe had just finished clearing the trash.
“Knock, knock—” The sound of knocking rang out.
Wang Xinghe was startled at first, then, thinking of Lu Jingze’s identity, he suppressed the surprise in his eyes.
He opened the door.
Outside stood a thin man wearing glasses, who looked extremely refined and capable.
A look of amazement flashed in the man’s eyes, and a gasp was very evident.
Wang Xinghe stepped aside to let him in and pointed to Lu Jingze sitting by the dining table. “Please come in.”
He Zheng composed himself, finally understanding his boss’s troubles.
He introduced himself very politely. “Hello, Mr. Wang. I am He Zheng, Mr. Lu’s Executive Secretary. It’s an honor to meet you.”
Wang Xinghe felt a bit awkward due to his polite and respectful attitude.
“You’re too kind,” Wang Xinghe turned to look at Lu Jingze.
Lu Jingze leaned back in the wooden dining chair, returning his gaze with a gentle expression.
He Zheng glanced at the clean and orderly arrangement at the door and the spotless floor, recognizing that the host was extremely fond of cleanliness.
He Zheng pulled out shoe covers from his pocket and put them over his shoes.
He walked in. “Mr. Lu, your clothes.”
Then he turned to Wang Xinghe politely. “Mr. Wang, Mr. Lu is injured. Could you lend a hand to help him change his shirt? Mr. Lu doesn’t like being touched by other people.”
“Mhm.” Lu Jingze was very satisfied with his secretary’s tact.
Wang Xinghe nodded.
He stepped forward to help him undo the buttons of his shirt.
Collarbone… pectoral muscle… abdominal muscle…
He tried his best not to touch him, while also avoiding his wounded areas, as he took off the shirt.
A searing gaze was fixed on him from above. Wang Xinghe didn’t even need to look up to know that those eyes were filled with possessiveness.
He put on a pure black shirt for him.
He buttoned it up, one button at a time.
Then he took the casual black jacket and helped him put it on.
“All set.”
Lu Jingze saw that Secretary He had already turned his back. The moment he stood up, he lightly kissed Wang Xinghe’s cheek with his thin lips.
He feigned surprise and covered his mouth. “I didn’t mean to. Brother Xinghe won’t blame me, will he?”
Wang Xinghe: “…”
Wang Xinghe closed his eyes. He now deeply regretted the words he had spoken last night.
If this shameless fellow came here often, he would only take advantage.
Lu Jingze, rushing before Wang Xinghe could give him a cold shoulder, strode quickly to the door, not forgetting to wave his hand and say, “Brother Xinghe, see you tonight~”
Wang Xinghe frowned, intending to retort, but Lu Jingze’s figure had already disappeared outside the door.
Only Secretary He remained, giving him a slight nod. “We apologize for the intrusion, Mr. Wang. Goodbye.”
Sitting in the new Rolls-Royce, Lu Jingze’s mood was soaring.
He Zheng observed Lu Jingze. Seeing that he was in good spirits, he quietly let out a breath of relief.
“Mr. Lu, the investigation regarding Zhao Yan on the City West project is complete. There was no external manipulation.”
“Mhm, let him continue with the running around,” Lu Jingze said, looking at the gauze bandage on his hand, the corner of his mouth curved up.
“You think, is he still not over me?” Lu Jingze asked He Zheng.
He Zheng recalled Wang Xinghe’s stunning face and demeanor.
He pondered for a moment before speaking. “From a rational standpoint, I would not allow someone I didn’t like or trust to stay in my home.”
Lu Jingze’s slightly swollen fingers fiddled with the bandage. “Will we reconcile?”
He Zheng took a deep breath. “Fated people will not drift apart.”
Lu Jingze leaned against the comfortable car seat and closed his eyes. “Was that driver taken in?”
“Yes, he was taken in. He is being prosecuted for attempted murder. The minimum sentence is ten years, and he will be well taken care of inside,” He Zheng replied.
After getting checked and bandaged at a private hospital, Lu Jingze immediately plunged into his busy work.
On the other side, Wang Xinghe arrived at the company at nine o’clock.
He walked into his small office.
He ran directly into his brother-in-law.
The capable, tall, thin man in a black suit looked at Wang Xinghe, a look of panic flashing across his eyes.
He then forced a smile. “Xinghe, you’re here so early. You don’t have to clock in every day.”
“Brother-in-law.”
“After all, I’m here to work, not for a vacation.”
Wang Xinghe took a step forward. “Brother-in-law, can I look at the company’s past materials for my position?”
“Of course, you can. Little Lu, take him to look.” Coincidentally, Lu Wang had just arrived at the company.
The three met, and Lu Wang readily agreed. “Sure.”
“Then I’ll get busy,” Chen Junsheng said. As he brushed past Wang Xinghe, Wang Xinghe keenly noticed the red mark on his neck.
Having previous experience, Wang Xinghe knew it was a hickey and a bite mark.
The relationship between his sister and brother-in-law seemed quite good…
Wang Xinghe felt a bit more at ease.
The major he studied was not a perfect match for this position, but he did have some understanding.
Some niche visual artists and designers abroad create eye-catching paintings.
His brother-in-law’s company was in trade, and he was asked to be responsible for the review of visual art pieces.
These selected works would be imported and then sold domestically.
Visual paintings that cost around 20 USD abroad could sell for up to tens of thousands of RMB in China, making it a very lucrative industry.
Of course, it also highly depended on the selector’s eye and professional ability.
Wang Xinghe looked at the visual paintings imported in the past and their sales figures.
He gradually became engrossed in the work, and unknowingly, it was already noon.
“Knock, knock.” Lu Wang lightly knocked on his glass door.
Wang Xinghe looked up and met Lu Wang’s eyes.
Lu Wang pointed to his watch. “It’s lunchtime. Brother Chen asked me to take you.”
Wang Xinghe looked and saw that it was already 12:30. He didn’t refuse. “Okay. Thank you, Brother Lu.”
Lu Wang and Wang Xinghe got into the car together. The BMW drove slowly on the road surface that had already been cleared.
“Where are we going?” Wang Xinghe watched the road as they drove further away.
“Aren’t there a few small shops downstairs?”
Lu Wang waved his hand while waiting for a traffic light. “Those small shops downstairs are really terrible. Have you tried that bun shop?”
“I did. It really was… Then why hasn’t it closed down?” Wang Xinghe recalled the morning buns, which were extremely bad, even worse than pre-made frozen ones.
“It’s because there are too many workers around. Everyone makes do.” Lu Wang parked in the underground garage of a large shopping center.
The two entered the elevator.
“The sixth and seventh floors are all restaurants. A few are quite good.”
“There are a few universities nearby, so there are many students. The food is good and cheap. My brother recommended a few good ones. Let’s go try them,” Lu Wang explained.
Wang Xinghe nodded. “Okay.”
Lu Wang stopped with him at a grilled fish restaurant on the seventh floor.
Just as they were about to enter, he saw his brother-in-law walking side-by-side with a youthful, fair-skinned young man.
Wang Xinghe frowned and looked through the crowd toward them.
