- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 32 - Silent Negotiation
The Lu family’s old residence, a mansion quietly standing in a corner of the capital, was converted from a Prince’s Manor, bearing a heavy history.
On the vermillion main doors, golden door studs glittered in the sunlight, seemingly narrating its undisputed brilliance and glory.
Lu Jingze’s car slowly pulled into the parking lot of the old residence.
He stepped out of the car, meticulously straightened his attire, and then got out with composure.
His secretary, He Zheng, followed closely and reminded him softly, “Mr. Lu, Senior Mr. Lu and Madam are also here.”
Lu Jingze’s expression remained calm; he had already expected this.
His gaze fell upon the flourishing winter sweet trees in the courtyard.
These few plum trees were rumored to have been personally planted by a certain Prince hundreds of years ago.
Now, the person who planted them is long gone, yet they continue to bloom.
He strode inside.
Well-trained servants immediately approached, half-squatting to change his slippers and simultaneously taking his coat.
Wearing his slippers, he passed through two heavily guarded checkpoints and finally entered the main hall.
Inside the hall, a small, elderly gentleman in a Zhongshan suit was seated in a golden Phoebe zhennan wood Grand-Tutor chair, toying with a pair of Imperial Green jade hand-balls of excellent translucency and color.
Seated in the Grand-Tutor chair across from him were his custom-suit-wearing, idiotic father and his stunningly beautiful but airheaded mother.
Seeing the setup, Lu Jingze was amused.
A trace of mocking smile hooked up his extremely thin lips.
He parted his thin lips, speaking with a teasing tone, “Grandpa, was it an east wind blowing today? This is strange, what rare guests.”
Lu Lixing’s narrow eyes showed displeasure. “Are the Lu family’s rules of conduct what taught you to speak in such a sarcastic manner?”
“You don’t even have basic respect for your elders anymore?”
Lu Jingze yawned and moved to stand behind the Old Master, gently kneading the back of his neck.
“Grandpa, how is the pressure?”
The Old Master looked at Lu Jingze with eyes full of affection, then shifted his gaze to Lu Lixing, his expression serious.
Lu Lixing kept silent, and Lu Jingze would not truly disrespect the Old Master’s presence either.
He looked at the ‘perfect couple’ across from him with a forced, unnatural smile and said, “Dear Father and Mother, I bow to you. I wish you both lock up your love forever. Remember to check in the New Year’s money.”
Displeasure flashed in the Lu Madam’s beautiful eyes, but she maintained her poise, constrained by the location.
The Old Master also didn’t want to make things awkward and patted his hand. “Come and sit.”
Receiving the command, Lu Jingze dragged a golden Phoebe zhennan wood Grand-Tutor chair to the side and flopped down onto it.
The tea artist on one side used her slender fingers to hold a blue and white porcelain teacup, skillfully and elegantly pouring tea for everyone present.
The clear aroma spread throughout the room, filled with antiques, where any single item was worth over a hundred million.
“Dad, I came today to discuss adopting Ji Yuheng as the second son,” Lu Lixing spoke up.
The Old Master still calmly looked at his son.
Upon hearing this, Lu Jingze was amused again.
“Pfft.” This time, he burst into laughter.
“Wait, my dear Father, hold on,” Lu Jingze leaned back on the Grand-Tutor chair, looking at his idiotic father.
“I’m not dead yet, so why are you adopting someone else’s son?”
“Oh~~~~ Is Ji Yuheng’s father dead? Is he so impatient to find a cheap dad?”
The Lu Madam finally couldn’t sit still, her chest heaving, and she looked at Lu Jingze with eyes that seemed to be laced with poison. “Who are you cursing?”
“Lu Jingze, do you think you can hide the fact that you are looking for men!”
Lu Jingze shrugged, adopting an indifferent attitude. “So what?”
“You! Dad, do you really want to let this enormous family fortune be buried in his hands?”
The Lu Madam looked at the Old Master.
The Old Master was still smiling, but his expression was somewhat weary. He casually said, “You don’t need to report to me, an old man, about whom you adopt.”
Lu Jingze remained unperturbed.
Seeing the Old Master’s demeanor, Lu Lixing and the Lu Madam felt a chilling disappointment.
The Lu Madam, not giving up, added, “Dad, are you just going to let him mess around?”
“You two should go back first. I will teach my own grandson,” the Old Master spoke, his voice carrying undeniable authority.
The long speeches they had prepared could only be swallowed back down.
The Lu Madam got into the car, fuming. Lu Lixing comforted her, “Madam, don’t be angry. You know the Old Master’s temper.”
“Are you even his biological son! Of the Lu family’s vast assets, you, as a son, don’t even own a tenth, yet that brat has two-thirds all by himself.” The beautiful woman was enraged when she spoke of this.
“If you hadn’t forced me back then, that stubborn brat wouldn’t have been here. He’s been distant since childhood! Look at any other biological son who doesn’t even call his own mother ‘Mom’.”
Lu Lixing endured the scolding and continued to placate her, “What I have is yours. I will support whatever you want to give anyone.”
…
After they left, Lu Jingze signaled to the tea artist.
The tea artist glanced at the Old Master. After the Old Master nodded, she bowed and left.
The entire living room was left with only him and the Old Master.
Lu Jingze plopped down and knelt.
“Grandpa, I guarantee you that the Lu family’s lineage will not be broken. Even after I die, the Lu family’s bloodline will continue to inherit and manage my properties.”
The Old Master’s eyes softened. “You are smarter than your father.”
“Get up. Tell Grandpa about that boy,” the Old Master said, turning the jade beads in his hand and watching his expression.
“A child from an ordinary family. Your grandson truly loves him, but he doesn’t want me anymore now. Alas…” Lu Jingze hung his head.
The Old Master extended his leg and kicked him. “How spineless.”
“You don’t like women, so how will you leave an heir for the Lu family, hmm?” This was the Old Master’s primary concern.
Nothing else was important to him.
There were plenty of competent people to manage the group’s business; what the Lu family members needed to do was simply to command these people well.
Lu Jingze gave a mysterious smile and whispered a few words in his ear.
The Old Master raised his eyebrows. “Are you telling the truth?”
“Absolutely true, Grandpa, look.” Lu Jingze opened his phone, which showed a test report and a photo of a child.
“I really didn’t realize your father had that ability,” the Old Master’s attitude completely softened.
Lu Jingze chuckled.
“My idiotic father doesn’t even know he’s the person involved. I have already sent people to protect the girl and the child, and the news has been sealed off.”
“When the time is right, we can announce that they are my children. They are still of the old Lu family’s blood.”
The Old Master held out his hand, and Lu Jingze hurriedly picked up the teacup and placed it in his hand.
“Tell me in detail about that boy. Grandpa will judge whether he is worth our little grandson being so worried about and doing so much for,” the Old Master said, showing his willingness to consider Wang Xinghe.
Lu Jingze nervously pursed his lips, carefully weighing his words.
“My idiotic father didn’t know Ji Yuheng had set me up. I fell into the sea, but I was lucky enough to be washed ashore.”
“I struggled to climb up and came to a small village. Wang Xinghe is from that village and runs a noodle shop there.”
“At that time, your grandson was covered in mud, his clothes were torn and ragged, worse than a beggar…”
“Walking on the street, no one cared about me except to point fingers. I was too cold and thought about finding a place to shelter from the wind, so I inadvertently squatted at the entrance of his shop…”
“Wang Xinghe didn’t even ask where I came from or why I was like that. He was willing to take me home to wash and eat…”
“Grandpa, you don’t know, someone in this world can be that gentle and beautiful. I was completely stunned…”
The Old Master frowned, his white beard slightly twitching. “Why does this little boy named Wang Xinghe sound like an idiot? What if you were an escaped murderer? He just took you home without asking anything? Didn’t call the police? He believed whatever you said?”
“Grandpa, he’s not an idiot! He’s just kind!” Lu Jingze hurriedly defended him.
