- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 30 - His Brother-in-Law, Chen Junsheng
At the break of dawn on the eighth day of the New Year, Wang Xinghe checked out of the hotel. A team of professionals followed him stealthily from a distance, making it difficult for Wang Xinghe to notice their presence. After glancing at the address his brother-in-law had sent, Wang Xinghe hailed a taxi.
“Where to, sir?” The driver was a middle-aged man who looked very simple and honest.
“To this industrial park,” Wang Xinghe said, pointing to the address on his phone.
“Okay, please buckle up,” the driver replied. The car started, moving smoothly and swiftly through the city streets.
Upon arrival, Wang Xinghe politely asked, “How much is the fare?”
“18 yuan.” The driver showed him the fare on the meter.
Wang Xinghe was surprised. That cheap? Still, he scanned the QR code to pay. He got out of the car with his luggage and looked at the park in front of him. He dialed his brother-in-law’s number.
The call was answered quickly. “Hello, Xinghe? You’ve arrived? I’ll send someone to pick you up.”
“Okay.” Wang Xinghe hung up and waited at the entrance of the park.
About ten minutes later, a car horn sounded. Wang Xinghe turned to see a black BMW. The driver’s side window slowly rolled down, revealing a man with a buzz cut and a clean, sharp face. He waved and asked, “Are you Brother Chen’s brother-in-law, Wang Xinghe?”
“Yes, hello. I’m Wang Xinghe.”
“Get in.” The man opened the trunk.
Wang Xinghe put his luggage in and got into the passenger seat. He smiled and nodded as he buckled his seatbelt. The car made a U-turn and headed into the park.
“You’re really an artist. Just standing there, you look like a painting. Auntie Chen is a beautiful, artistic woman, and I didn’t expect Brother Chen’s brother-in-law to be so elegant and artistic too.”
Wang Xinghe gave a slight, embarrassed laugh. “You’re giving me too much credit.”
“How old are you? You look like a college student. Have you graduated?”
Wang Xinghe replied awkwardly, “I’m twenty-seven.”
“You’re only a year younger than me? I really can’t tell. I’d believe it if you said you were twenty.” The man was very friendly and clicked his tongue in surprise.
Wang Xinghe’s toes, clad in sneakers, gently curled against the insoles.
The BMW stopped in front of a three-story building in the park. Wang Xinghe got out and pulled his black suitcase from the trunk.
The young man with the buzz cut introduced himself. “I almost forgot. My name is Lu Wang. You can call me Brother Lu or Brother Wang, or just Lu Wang.”
“Brother Wang,” Wang Xinghe said politely.
Beep, beep. The password for the glass automatic door was entered. Lu Wang led Wang Xinghe inside. There was no one at the front desk. The company’s name was “Vision Trading Co., Ltd.” Wang Xinghe followed him into the elevator.
“Your office is on the third floor. Brother Chen instructed me to have you oversee the art and design section. We don’t know anything about it, and you studied it…” Lu Wang was very talkative, making Wang Xinghe seem even quieter.
On the third floor, there were individual rooms separated by frosted glass walls, with rows of desks in the middle. It was 8:30 a.m., so not many people had arrived yet.
“Once we officially open today, everyone will introduce themselves and get to know each other. Everyone here is easy to get along with.” Lu Wang opened a glass door. The space inside was small, with a desk against the window, a bookshelf behind it, a wardrobe on the side, and a folding bed next to the wardrobe.
“Here are the keys. This will be your office from now on.” Lu Wang handed him the keys.
Wang Xinghe looked at the metal keys in his hand, nodded, and accepted them. “Thank you, Brother Wang.”
“You’re welcome. Oh, did you have breakfast?” Lu Wang asked.
Wang Xinghe nodded. “Yes, at the hotel.”
“Oh, which hotel did you stay at? Accommodation expenses up to 1,000 are reimbursable. Don’t forget to submit the receipt to finance.” Lu Wang’s eyes never left Wang Xinghe. It wasn’t surprising; Wang Xinghe was just so visually appealing and handsome that it was hard not to stare and be eager to please.
“It wasn’t expensive, just over a hundred yuan. No need for reimbursement.” Wang Xinghe stood by the window, looking out. There were many other three-story buildings just like this one. It was the first time he had known that Kyoto had such a place. He had expected it to be in an office building.
“Xinghe, you’re here?” Chen Junsheng’s voice came from the distance, getting closer.
Wang Xinghe turned to see a tall man in a black suit with frameless glasses and a slicked-back hairstyle standing at the door. When he saw Wang Xinghe in a black down jacket with gentle eyes, his own eyes lit up.
Wang Xinghe smiled at him. “Brother-in-law.”
Chen Junsheng’s eyes, clear behind his glasses, said, “Did you have breakfast?”
Wang Xinghe nodded. “Yes, I did.”
“Brother Chen, I have to get back to work. Call me if you need anything.” Lu Wang left.
Only Chen Junsheng and he remained in the small office. Chen Junsheng looked at his luggage. “After the opening ceremony, I’ll take you to find a small apartment nearby.”
“Okay, sounds good…” Wang Xinghe didn’t refuse. The man in front of him was family, so Wang Xinghe felt relatively relaxed.
“Come on, I’ll show you around the company and tell you about your job.” Chen Junsheng wore an IWC watch, which, along with his crisp black suit, made him look very impressive.
“Okay.” Wang Xinghe followed him. Chen Junsheng started from the third floor and worked his way down, introducing everything to him. Finally, he handed him a blue access card.
“The password at the door is 986578, but this access card will also open it.”
Wang Xinghe accepted everything.
“Your salary will be one million a month, and the company will cover your accommodation, meals, and commute. When HR arrives, just bring your ID to get set up.”
Wang Xinghe noticed that there was no one around and decided to interrupt. “Brother-in-law, is this really okay? The salary is a bit too high. I have no work experience, and I haven’t used my skills in four or five years. I’m not familiar with the current international trends.”
“I know. If we were to hire a high-achieving student in your field, it would cost at least twenty to thirty thousand a month. That’s why I asked you to come. First, you have the background. Second, we’re family, and I trust you.”
“Once the company gets on its feet, I’ll double your salary. For now, you’ll just have to endure a little hardship with me, your brother-in-law.”
Wang Xinghe pursed his lips. He really couldn’t refuse.
Chen Junsheng saw him looking down, so he walked over and gently patted his shoulder. “I called you here because I really need you. But there’s another reason…” Chen Junsheng looked around to make sure no one was there and said to him, “Come here.”
The two of them walked to a sofa in the lobby on the first floor.
“We’ve been trying to have a baby, but we haven’t been lucky. Your sister’s mood is getting more and more unstable. Now she’s worried that I’m cheating. Once you start working here, I’ll bring you with me wherever I go. That way, she’ll feel more at ease.”
“Those things outside the door… you put them there, didn’t you?” Chen Junsheng asked after a moment of consideration.
Wang Xinghe nodded.
“What was said that day… you probably heard it. Don’t take it to heart.”
“Your sister even cursed me for being impotent. As men, we need to be understanding. Once she gets pregnant, all her anxiety will go away.” Chen Junsheng looked at Wang Xinghe, and complex emotions flickered in his eyes.
Wang Xinghe looked up, his face full of embarrassment. Was it really necessary to tell him all this?
