- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 19 - He and I are not acquainted
Wang Xinghe deliberately avoided Zhao Yan. He chose a hidden path that only people familiar with the university knew. The winding path led to a small, inconspicuous side gate. He slipped through the gate.
Once outside, Wang Xinghe hailed a taxi. He got in and told the driver, “Master, to Hualong Community.” The driver replied cheerfully, “You got it.”
As the car started, Wang Xinghe’s gaze drifted to the window. The bustling scenes of Kyoto flashed by, but his heart was filled with an unspeakable emptiness and silence.
His sister had gotten married in his junior year of college. Her husband was also an alumnus from his university.
Hualong Community was in the fourth ring of Kyoto. The taxi stopped at the entrance of the complex. He used to come here often in his senior year. The facial recognition system still had his face on file.
“Welcome home.” The security system hadn’t deleted him. The security guard at the gate saluted him as he stepped inside. Wang Xinghe walked into Hualong Community, hesitated for a moment, then walked out again.
He bought two boxes of peach gum, two bottles of Maotai, and two packs of Zhonghua cigarettes from the supermarket at the entrance. He carried the gifts inside. When he arrived at the familiar building door, he was about to knock when he heard a fierce argument from inside.
It was his brother-in-law’s voice, full of repressed fatigue. “Wang Mingyue, can you stop being so suspicious all the time? My company is just starting out. Do you know how much competition there is in Kyoto? Who am I working so hard for? It’s all for you!”
Wang Xinghe’s hand froze in mid-air. He didn’t want to eavesdrop, but his feet were stuck in place.
“Mingyue, just focus on getting pregnant. Mom is waiting for a grandson. If you’re really worried, why don’t you call Xinghe from Qingcheng to come and work at my company? He can keep an eye on me.” His brother-in-law’s voice had a pleading tone. “Xinghe is your brother. You can’t even trust him, can you?”
Hearing his name, Wang Xinghe’s feet were completely glued to the ground. Then, he heard Wang Mingyue’s cold voice. “If I call him here, I’ll never get pregnant.”
“And even if I do, I’ll miscarry.”
This sentence was like a sharp blade piercing Wang Xinghe’s heart. His face turned even paler, and his body trembled uncontrollably. He put the gifts by the door and left without knocking.
After leaving Hualong Community, Wang Xinghe looked at the bright spring sun. His heart felt like a hole had been torn in it. The wound was festering, and it hurt so much that his chest ached.
Screech— A car suddenly slammed on its brakes. A black Alphard stopped in front of him. Two men in black suits and sunglasses got out and, without a word, pulled him into the car.
Inside, he looked calmly at the strange man sitting in the back seat. The man looked handsome, but his eyes held an unsettling sharpness.
“Why did you kidnap me?” Wang Xinghe’s voice was cold. There was no fear in his eyes, only a faint sense of scrutiny.
The handsome man raised his eyebrows, sizing up Wang Xinghe. “What’s your relationship with Lu Jingze?” His gaze was piercing and direct, as if he wanted to see through Wang Xinghe’s soul. It was very uncomfortable. After the initial look, his gaze became extremely aggressive, which made it even more uncomfortable.
Wang Xinghe’s tone was as calm as water. He said faintly, “We are not acquainted.”
The man in the back of the Alphard clearly didn’t believe him. He laughed dismissively. “Oh?” His eyes were full of obvious suspicion and distrust.
The Alphard drove to a villa in the suburbs. Wang Xinghe was taken to the basement. His phone was confiscated. They searched for any clues related to Lu Jingze. But they found nothing. There were only ordinary consumption records and very ordinary daily activities. There was no phone number or contact information on any other apps.
Ji Yuheng was surprised. How could that be possible? His subordinates had clearly told him that this man, Wang Xinghe, had taken in Lu Jingze for nearly two months. Yet in those two months, there wasn’t a single clue. It was impossible. This boy must have hidden it all beforehand.
“Ten million yuan. All you have to do is prove that your relationship with Lu Jingze is not innocent. I’ll give you ten million. That’s a sum you can’t earn in a lifetime,” Ji Yuheng said, holding a black card in front of him.
Wang Xinghe closed his eyes, feeling tired. “He and I are not acquainted. Do whatever you want with me.”
Wang Xinghe was truly exhausted. He could just let them do as they pleased. If he got dirty, he got dirty. If he died, he died. He closed his eyes and leaned back on the chair. He wouldn’t listen to anything they said.
A toady next to him said to Ji Yuheng, “Master Ji, why don’t you send a video to Lu Jingze and see how he reacts?”
Ji Yuheng glanced at him, took out his phone, opened Lu Jingze’s page, and recorded a video of Wang Xinghe with his eyes closed, leaning on the chair.
…
At that moment, Lu Jingze was having afternoon tea with his grandfather. A well-mannered young woman named Xiao Xiao was sitting next to his grandfather, and the two were chatting happily.
Ding— His phone rang. He opened the page to the disgusting profile picture of Ji Yuheng. It was a video.
In the video, Wang Xinghe, wearing a white sweater, was leaning on a chair with his eyes closed. He looked thin and frail, but his beauty was breathtaking.
Lu Jingze’s heart trembled slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. He didn’t show any weakness in front of his grandfather.
“I think Xiao Xiao is more and more pleasing to the eye,” the Old Master said, looking at Lu Jingze. “When are you going to marry her?”
Lu Jingze’s face held a subtle smile. “Grandpa, I’m only 21. It’s not too late to get married after I’ve stabilized my career.”
“I haven’t even graduated from college yet.”
The Old Master looked at the obedient person in front of him and pouted. “It’s just college. A diploma is the same whether you have one or not.”
“The fact that you were able to get into Tsinghua University and Beijing University already proves your ability.”
“Xiao Xiao, you should come see me more often.”
The woman smiled faintly. “Grandpa, even if it weren’t for Jingze, I would still come often. You watched me grow up, and in my heart, you’re just like my own grandpa.”
“Good child. Out of all the kids in the compound, you were the only one that was always so pleasing to my eye.” The Old Master was delighted by her flattery.
Lu Jingze, however, was a little impatient. He still maintained an elegant smile on his face, calmly talking about various topics with the two of them.
As time passed, Ji Yuheng kept looking at the clock. Five hours had passed. His patience finally ran out. He laughed coldly and said sarcastically, “I wonder if you’re really composed or if you two are truly strangers.”
Ji Yuheng looked at the lifeless, emotionless person, who seemed to genuinely want to die, and raised his eyebrows. He waved his hand. His subordinates immediately understood and quickly exited the basement.
Only Ji Yuheng and Wang Xinghe were left in the basement. Wang Xinghe raised his eyes, looking up at Ji Yuheng, who was staring down at him.
Their eyes met, and Ji Yuheng suddenly changed his mind. “You’re really good-looking.”
“I didn’t expect a backwater place like Qingcheng to produce someone like you.”
“Your name is Wang Xinghe, right? How about following me from now on? Ten million a month. Until I get tired of you.”
Wang Xinghe’s eyes were cold as he looked at him. “I don’t like men.”
“If you want to die without heirs, feel free to try.”
Ji Yuheng’s cheek twitched. “You have quite a personality.”
“I wonder if you’ll still have that fire after I give you some medicine.”
A look of disgust flashed in Wang Xinghe’s tea-colored eyes. Then he closed them again. Whatever. Let him do what he wants.
If I get tainted, I get tainted. If I die, I die.
What was there left in this world for him to hold on to?
