- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 13 - My Boyfriend is So Sweet
The two of them climbed the winding mountain road, step by step, to the peak of Signal Hill. At the top, a strong wind howled.
From here, they could look down at the entire city. In the distance, the Zhanqiao Pier looked especially peaceful and beautiful in the sea breeze.
“Whoa~ not bad~” Lu Jingze exclaimed, his voice a little shaky in the wind.
There was a revolving restaurant on the top of the hill, as well as a wall for hanging wish plaques.
Lu Jingze pointed to the wish wall, which was covered in plaques.
Wang Xinghe walked with him to the sales counter and bought two red plaques.
They each took a marker to write their wishes.
Wang Xinghe only wrote one line: [May you always have peace, W]
Lu Jingze, on the other hand, wrote: [My boyfriend is so sweet, L]
After hanging the plaques, Wang Xinghe gave him a speechless look.
He’s still so young, and he can’t control himself.
Wang Xinghe didn’t hold it against him.
The revolving restaurant wasn’t open, so the two of them walked back down the hill.
“Do you want to go to the Taidong Night Market? I don’t know if you’ll be used to the food,” Wang Xinghe suggested.
“With you, I’ll eat anything.” Lu Jingze wasn’t picky at all anymore. He felt that his perception of food had been skewed.
“Parking is difficult on the Taidong Pedestrian Street, so let’s take the subway.”
There was a subway station at the foot of Signal Hill.
In all his life, Lu Jingze had never taken the subway.
Not even once.
He followed behind Wang Xinghe, standing on the escalator and looking down.
“It’s so deep?!” He was startled by the depth of the subway escalator.
“The ones here in Qingcheng are a little deeper,” Wang Xinghe explained.
He bought two subway tickets to Taidong at the main hall and handed one to Lu Jingze.
“Follow me. Don’t throw this ticket away; you’ll need to hand it back when you exit,” Wang Xinghe said, leading him through the security check.
Beep— They swiped their tickets and entered the subway.
They continued down to find the station platform.
“We have to transfer from Line 4 at Taishan Road to Line 2 to get to Taidong Pedestrian Street. We’ll do the same on the way back.” Wang Xinghe pointed to the route and directions on the map above.
Lu Jingze kept nodding, constantly trying to understand.
“The subway here in Qingcheng looks like it’s new. All the facilities are very new.”
“Yes, it was completed only a few years ago,” Wang Xinghe nodded.
“It’s not as bustling as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Shenzhen.”
Lu Jingze followed closely behind Wang Xinghe. The station they were at was next to a hospital, so there were no seats available.
They had to stand.
Fortunately, given their height, grabbing the handrail above was no problem.
The girls in the subway car, however, were getting a little restless.
Wang Xinghe had already subtly noticed several phones taking photos.
But he couldn’t say anything; it was their freedom to take pictures.
The subway train ran quickly. The billboards outside sped by.
Lu Jingze leaned in close to his ear, marveling, “Don’t get me wrong, besides being a little noisy, this subway runs quite fast and steady.”
“You don’t even have a memory of riding the subway?” Wang Xinghe looked up at him.
He was met with Lu Jingze’s pair of phoenix eyes, filled with curiosity. He shook his head. “I really don’t.”
Wang Xinghe gave him a thumbs-up. “You’d better not be the son of some tycoon, who grew up surrounded by countless bodyguards and would never walk if he could be carried instead.”
Wang Xinghe had hit the nail on the head. Lu Jingze felt a flicker of guilt, then laughed it off. “Who knows? Maybe I am.”
Wang Xinghe shrugged. “If you were, in this age of advanced information, the news of someone looking for their son would be all over the place.”
Lu Jingze smacked his lips and said nothing more.
“You must try the roasted pork knuckle. The shrimp dumplings and siu mai are also great. Get one of the paper-thin siu mai.” Wang Xinghe kept scanning QR codes.
After buying them, he handed them directly to Lu Jingze. “See how they taste.”
Lu Jingze took a bite of the pork knuckle first. The soft texture and the taste of the spices exploded in his mouth.
“Delicious!”
“Try the siu mai and shrimp dumplings,” Wang Xinghe said, eating the other half of the pork knuckle.
Lu Jingze took one. “Delicious!”
“Get one of the taro paste with cheese, too.”
“Two skewers of grilled squid.”
“A serving of fried oyster omelet.”
“A serving of golden tofu.”
“Two cups of red bean milk.”
“A cheese stick.”
“A cheese and durian cake.”
…
Lu Jingze had never imagined that he would be completely conquered by a street food stall.
Those seemingly unassuming snacks were incredibly delicious, and the prices were surprisingly affordable.
He began to understand why one of his friends was so keen on exploring these little stalls hidden in the corners of the city.
Lu Jingze had eaten his fill. He literally couldn’t eat another bite. He had left half of this and half of that.
Wang Xinghe didn’t say much. He just quietly took the leftover food from him and started eating it.
Even the cheese stick that Lu Jingze had bitten into, Wang Xinghe put it in his mouth without a second thought.
At that moment, Lu Jingze was deeply moved.
In his family, they had seven or eight sets of utensils for breakfast alone.
The people in his family would find leftovers disgusting and would never touch them.
But Wang Xinghe just ate it, one bite at a time.
It was an unspoken gesture of, “You are clean, and I don’t mind.”
Lu Jingze stood in the bustling crowd, watching Wang Xinghe quietly eat.
Suddenly, he felt a strange panic.
It was a feeling that came out of nowhere, but it made his heart race and his breathing feel tight.
Wang Xinghe didn’t eat slowly. He finished all the leftovers.
He took a disinfecting wipe from his pocket and handed it to Lu Jingze. “Wipe your hands. We can buy some water to rinse your mouth in a bit.”
Lu Jingze took it numbly.
Wang Xinghe was already carefully wiping his fair, long hands.
The wind blew, and his hands were slightly red and looked moist.
Just his hands alone were enough to attract all of Lu Jingze’s attention.
The two of them bought two bottles of water from a roadside stand.
After they carefully rinsed their mouths, Wang Xinghe took out a piece of gum and handed it to him. “You ate so many different things. Your breath will smell bad. If you wear a mask, it’ll smell like food and be hard to breathe.”
Lu Jingze took it and started chewing.
The two of them took the subway to the light show.
Standing by the sea, the night wind was cool. Taking advantage of the dark, Lu Jingze quietly took Wang Xinghe’s hand.
He pulled him into his arms.
“Wang Xinghe, look, I can see you,” Lu Jingze said, pointing to the sea.
The lights of the buildings reflected on the water. As the waves turned, they shimmered, like a river of stars with no end in sight.
Wang Xinghe looked at him. Lu Jingze’s eyes were filled with light.
It was as if they truly reflected a whole river of stars.
Wang Xinghe stood on his tiptoes and lightly kissed his lips.
I’ll be responsible for this kid’s life, Wang Xinghe thought.
This impulsive thought made the dead tree in his heart sprout a new branch.
Lu Jingze could clearly see Wang Xinghe’s deep eyes, which were filled with gentle affection, and he could see only himself reflected in them.
At this moment, he was completely frozen.
He was stunned in place.
Wang Xinghe saw his reaction and thought he was just shy.
He just smiled and took his hand.
It was a silent, firm gesture.
Lu Jingze held Wang Xinghe’s heart in his hands, completely at a loss.
Because he had never received a heart that was not tainted by self-interest.
He felt that it was too hot, that he was very afraid, and that he was cold all over.
In this moment, he even had a very ridiculous thought.
He wanted to run away.
