Can’t Trash-Talk You to Death, So I’ll Kiss You to Death - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Yun Duoduo felt weak all over, her entire body sensation as if it were being roasted over a fire. She craved water and ice to cool herself down.
Just as she thought she was about to die from the heat, something cool and soft pressed against her. She greedily reached out her arms and held it tight.
Yet, amidst this immense shock, Yun Duoduo suddenly jolted awake, her controlled mind gradually regaining clarity. Then, she stared in disbelief at the white ceiling, which was fitted with a black surveillance camera.
Everything before her was too foreign. This was a sealed room, surrounded by walls without a single ventilating window, save for a chandelier emitting a pale yellow light.
Yun Duoduo remembered that she had followed her manager to meet a director to sign a contract for her next film. How did she end up in this small room?
Most importantly, why was she so hot? And what was going on with the person beside her? However, this person felt so good to touch—so cool to the skin.
What on earth was happening?
“Hiss!” Before she could continue touching, a sharp biting pain shot through her neck.
The person buried against her neck was actually biting her. Yun Duoduo realized instantly that they had both been drugged, and the situation was dire.
She turned to meet a pair of deep eyes. Though clouded by desire, they still leaked a cold, piercing gaze that made one shiver.
She couldn’t help but look closer and noticed the person had short hair and extremely exquisite features. Her narrow eyes were slightly squinted, projecting a “do not approach” signal.
If she hadn’t touched the body just now, Yun Duoduo would have thought it was a man. At this moment, however, she felt incredibly lucky that the other person was a woman.
Between two women, surely nothing “wrong” could happen.
Unfortunately, she failed to recognize that the woman before her was Huai Jian—the Film Queen who had just returned from abroad after winning several major awards.
Yun Duoduo gritted her teeth and tried to push her away, but she had no strength in her arms or body.
Huai Jian was taller than her. Not only did she fail to push Huai Jian off, but she seemed to have provoked her instead. Huai Jian bit down hard on her neck several times.
“You dog!” Yun Duoduo took a sharp breath. Her gaze flickered to the fruit platter on the bedside table; by chance, there was a paring knife sitting there.
Yun Duoduo formed a plan. She nudged herself toward the bedside table. Regardless of whether the person on top of her could hear, she said, “If you want to get out, show some restraint.”
The person beside her paused for a moment, as if she had heard her, and stopped her movements. A moment later, regaining some modicum of sanity, she rolled over to the other side.
Yun Duoduo bit her lip again and pushed her slightly further away.
Her mouth was full of the taste of blood as she stretched her arm out, her fingers struggling to reach forward.
After several attempts that left her drenched in sweat and exhausted, she finally managed to grab the paring knife from the platter.
The now-conscious Huai Jian said nothing, her hazel eyes filled with confusion.
Then, Yun Duoduo closed her eyes, her hands trembling as she raised the knife.
Since it was self-harm, she was inevitably afraid. She bit her lip hard, comforting herself internally: “I’m not afraid.”
She muttered a sound and was just about to strike when her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Huai Jian’s grip was powerful, as if she could snap her wrist bone with one hand.
By now, Yun Duoduo was beyond fear. She calmed herself for a heartbeat. “Since you still have strength, help me stab a hole in my thigh!”
Huai Jian didn’t understand her intent. Her warm breath fell continuously against the side of Yun Duoduo’s face, and her eyes grew darker.
Yun Duoduo explained in the simplest terms, “You’re more affected by the drug than I am. If you wound me, I can gather enough strength to find someone for help.”
Although Huai Jian still had strength in her hands, her entire body was actually left with nothing but impulse. If she moved even slightly, they would both succumb to instinct.
After a long silence, her slightly dry, thin lips moved: “Not afraid of the pain?”
This concerned inquiry made Yun Duoduo feel a sense of warmth. It had been a long time since anyone had cared for her, let alone asked if she was in pain.
She hummed in affirmation. In truth, she was more afraid of being “ruined” than of the pain.
“Close your eyes.” Huai Jian tightened her fingers slightly. Seeing her trembling eyelashes after she closed her eyes, Huai Jian’s heart softened.
This girl was terrified.
The hand holding the knife suddenly swung down.
Yun Duoduo prepared herself for the pain and clenched her teeth.
However, a long time passed and she didn’t feel the expected agony. She slowly opened her eyes, only to see the person beside her propped up on one arm, sitting up.
The woman’s lips were pressed into a thin line, her whole body gathering strength.
“You…” Yun Duoduo’s gaze shifted down. On the woman’s leg, she saw a deep, bloody gash that reached the bone. Blood was gushing out. It looked excruciating, and she hadn’t expected Huai Jian to use the knife on herself.
Yun Duoduo couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration.
Huai Jian frowned and got off the bed. The room had been locked from the outside. She tugged at the handle a few times, but the door remained shut. Suddenly, she stepped back and began to kick the door with fierce, violent force.
Yun Duoduo clutched the quilt nervously. This person had given her too many shocks. She subconsciously bit her lip because she saw Huai Jian’s wound tearing open further. Yet, because of this, Huai Jian’s strength grew even greater. After three minutes of this, the door finally showed signs of giving way.
Perhaps because they were trapped together, Yun Duoduo felt a sense of pity for her and croaked out a reminder, “Be careful.”
Huai Jian paused, turned her head to glance at her, and then delivered a strike even more violent than the ones before. Just as she was about to kick the door open, it moved slightly and was opened from the outside.
But Huai Jian’s foot was already mid-swing. The person outside was caught off guard and sent flying several meters back. Yun Duoduo heard a male voice that felt strangely familiar.
A crowd of people stood outside the door, craning their necks to look into the room. When they saw Huai Jian, their eyes widened in disbelief.
Huai Jian frowned and walked out of the room.
The crowd took the opportunity to swarm into the room. Seeing Yun Duoduo completely unharmed, they broke into one outcry after another.
“Wow, wow, wasn’t it agreed that we’d film a heavy-duty passion scene? Why are the clothes still on? Director Zhang, this won’t do. how are we supposed to make money?”
“Yeah, Director Zhang, I see this method isn’t working. How about next time we put two more men in? She won’t be able to hold out then!”
Before Yun Duoduo could celebrate her rescue, her head began to spin upon hearing these words. Memories flooded back, reality and illusion intertwining so that she could no longer distinguish between what was real and what was a hallucination.
Standing at the door, Huai Jian listened to the dialogue inside with a cold face, a flash of disgust appearing in her eyes. She had just taken a step to leave when she heard a sound like a kitten’s whimper. Her heart felt as if it had been tugged, and she slowly turned her head.
She saw the crowd surrounding Yun Duoduo, pointing and staring with hungry, predatory eyes, ready to strip her and devour her at any moment.
A sudden wave of irritation rose in her heart. With a darkened expression, she brushed aside the people blocking the bed and returned to Yun Duoduo’s side. Looking at Yun Duoduo’s flushed face, controlled by emotion, Huai Jian felt as if her heart were being brushed by a feather—an itchy sensation.
Fine, long eyelashes trembled, hiding a pool of crystalline tears. She looked vastly different from the strong girl she had been moments ago; she looked fragile.
Usually cold and self-contained, Huai Jian leaned down, placed her hands on the girl’s waist, and lifted her up. Ignoring the shocked onlookers behind her, she strode out of the room.
