Can't Hide My Love for You - Chapter 90
“Are you asking about Sister’s birthday?”
“Yes.” Cheng Yixin nodded. “How did you all celebrate it in previous years? Are there any special rituals or anything?”
“Hmm…” Feng Siqi took a bite of mousse cake, pondered for a moment, and replied, “Now that you ask, thinking back, I haven’t celebrated a birthday with her for quite a few years.”
“It probably started when Sister moved out. Every year after that, we wanted to celebrate for her, but we never succeeded. She always spent it with a friend.”
“A friend?”
“Yeah,” Feng Siqi replied. “Ever since she moved out, she hasn’t spent her birthday with us.”
Cheng Yixin thought seriously. Based on her understanding of Chi Yi’s social circle, something felt a bit off.
“A friend? Male or female? Is it a colleague from her company? Do you know them?”
“That, I don’t know. I’ve asked, but she only told me it was a friend—a friend who celebrates her birthday every year. Sister also posts photos of them eating in our group chat. It just so happens I have records on my phone; let me find them for you.”
Feng Siqi opened the group chat. She didn’t have the habit of deleting chat history, so the earliest messages could be traced back three years. The photos showed dishes on a table and a separate cake, but no faces.
“Don’t you think it’s a bit strange?” Cheng Yixin asked, puzzled. “If it were just two people, they would buy a small cake. The cake in the photo is clearly too big for two people to finish.”
Feng Siqi didn’t think much of it. “Maybe her friend is very generous and bought a large cake? I don’t know. Anyway, I’ve never seen this friend, and I haven’t heard her talk about them usually.”
Cheng Yixin leaned more toward the theory that this “friend” was illusory.
“Sister Xin, why are you asking this? Are you preparing some surprise for Sister?”
“Just for reference.” Cheng Yixin smiled.
“Hey, if you two are spending it together this year, call me! I’ll come join the fun.” Feng Siqi sounded quite expectant.
“No can do,” Cheng Yixin politely declined. “I want to have a world for two.”
“Wow, I understand the logic, but that’s a bit too blunt, isn’t it?” Feng Siqi feigned a sigh and ate another piece of cake. “But when Sister told me you two were dating, I still got a huge shock.”
“Why?”
“Because before, when it was leaked, didn’t you publicly clarify it? Or was it only after that that sparks flew?”
“No.” Cheng Yixin denied it very quickly, her smile tinged with a bit of embarrassment. “I was just young and foolish then.”
“Ooh~~” Feng Siqi propped her chin on her hand and looked at her. “Then can you tell me how you got together? Who pursued whom? I’m so curious.”
How did we get together? That certainly wasn’t a topic that could be discussed in public. Cheng Yixin gave a light cough. “It was just spending time together; we got together naturally.”
After speaking, she checked the time. Today, Feng Siqi had arrived in Zhenzhou right at lunchtime, and Cheng Yixin had taken two hours of leave to take her out to eat. It was about time to go back.
“Didn’t you want to see how the crew films? It’s about time; let’s head over now.”
“Alright.” Feng Siqi waved to call the waiter for the bill, but Cheng Yixin stopped her. “I’ve already settled the account.”
“Heehee, thank you, Sister, for treating me to lunch.” Feng Siqi happily linked her arm with Cheng Yixin’s, smiling very sweetly.
The restaurant was near the film base, so they walked back.
“Aren’t you going to wear a mask?” Feng Siqi asked curiously. “Aren’t you afraid of being recognized?”
“Actors are the one thing this place doesn’t lack. Besides, even if I wear one, if someone’s going to recognize me, they’ll recognize me anyway,” Cheng Yixin said.
On the way back, Cheng Yixin was a bit absent-minded, thinking about the old gentleman. The director had said Feng Nian would be coming these few days, yet she had waited for Feng Siqi, but no matter how long she waited, she didn’t see Feng Nian.
Originally, she had planned to earn some “goodwill points” in front of the old man, but now everything seemed to be disrupted, leaving her caught off guard.
After hesitating repeatedly, she decided to speak truthfully: “Siqi, do you know who the investor of our drama is?”
“Who? My sister?”
“No.” She paused and said, “It’s your grandfather.”
“Huh?” Feng Siqi was suddenly surprised. “Why did he start investing in TV dramas?”
“I don’t know, a coincidence maybe. I met him a while ago, but back then I didn’t know he was Chi Yi’s grandfather. I only found out later, and I haven’t seen him since.”
Feng Siqi’s little brain whirled fast and she soon said, “Are you trying to get on Grandpa’s good side to make it easier to come out later?”
“Uh.” Having her little thoughts exposed at once, Cheng Yixin said with slight embarrassment, “Yes.”
“Grandpa has high blood pressure, so it indeed should be done step-by-step. Don’t worry, since it’s the girlfriend my sister chose, I’ll support you with all my might.”
With Feng Siqi’s promise, Cheng Yixin was finally somewhat relieved.
Returning to the set, she handed Feng Siqi over to her assistant to settle in while she hurried off to change her costume for filming. It was Feng Siqi’s first time seeing a film set; everything was fresh and fascinating to her. She watched with great interest and even secretly took a photo of Cheng Yixin in a qipao—those long legs were indeed enviable.
At lunch, they took a photo together. Feng Siqi sat on a folding chair with her legs crossed and sent the two photos to Chi Yi. Taking advantage of the distance, her tone was very arrogant.
[Feng Siqi]: Aya, I’m here for a set visit~~ Sister Xin is mine tonight, heehee! She looks so good in a qipao; I think I’m turning ‘bent.’ [Heart-fluttering.gif]
After sending that, she opened the front camera, took a photo with Cheng Yixin in the background, and made a finger-heart gesture, sending the image directly.
President Chi, who usually had a delay in replying to messages while at work, responded very quickly this time. She only sent one image: a pair of pliers.
Feng Siqi didn’t react for a moment and sent back a question mark.
[Chi Yi]: I’ll help you bend back to straight.
“…” That didn’t look like a joke. Feng Siqi shrank her neck and didn’t dare reply.
Because someone had come for a visit, Cheng Yixin finished work early today. At around six o’clock, the production van drove out of the film base. Feng Siqi had already picked out a restaurant, and the van headed straight there.
“Sister Xin, what are you doing?” Feng Siqi saw Cheng Yixin holding a small wool ball and stabbing it continuously after getting into the car; it looked quite interesting.
“I’m doing needle felting. Don’t mind me, keep talking.”
“It looks fun, can I try?”
Cheng Yixin handed her the felting needle, taking the chance to rest her fingers.
“Where are you staying tonight?” Cheng Yixin asked.
“I haven’t booked a hotel yet. How about I sleep with you, heehee,” Feng Siqi joked.
“Sure.” Cheng Yixin jokingly agreed as well. She remembered the crew’s hotel had empty rooms, and staying too far away would be inconvenient.
“For real?” The other girl seemed very surprised. Sleeping with a beautiful sister—she feared she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.
“Of course,” Cheng Yixin’s smile deepened. “Unless you’re afraid of your sister.”
“…” Feng Siqi shrank her neck. Why did she feel a chill?
“Never mind, never mind.” She gave a sheepish laugh. Thinking of those pliers made her a bit fearful. Since then, Chi Yi hadn’t sent any more messages.
“Don’t worry, I’ll have the assistant arrange a place for you to stay. You can stay as many days as you like.”
“Thank you, Sister Xin!”
They had Japanese food for dinner; it was expensive and the taste was mediocre, but Feng Siqi ate quite happily. They finished the battle quickly and were back at the hotel before 8:00 PM.
Cheng Yixin handed the room card to Feng Siqi. “Your room is on the 23rd floor, the same as mine. Your luggage has already been sent up.”
“Alright!”
Feng Siqi affectionately linked her arm with Cheng Yixin’s as they headed toward the elevator.
“Sister Xin, what time do you usually get up in the morning?”
“Six o’clock, sometimes earlier.”
“I was going to suggest we have breakfast together… I think I’ll just sleep in. I’ll find you after I wake up.”
“Okay, if you have any problems, just message me.” Cheng Yixin remembered Feng Siqi’s room number; it was in the same direction, just past the corner from the elevator.
However, just as they turned the corner, Cheng Yixin saw a person standing in the hallway. Her footsteps stopped instinctively. That person also heard the footsteps and turned around to look at them.
“Sister?!” Feng Siqi was incredibly surprised. “You’re already here? That was too fast!”
Chi Yi gave a nod, walked quickly toward them, and came to a stop in front of them. Her expression was calm, but her gaze naturally fell on Feng Siqi’s hand.
As if she had been electrocuted, Feng Siqi abruptly pulled her hand back and dodged half a step to the side.
Chi Yi reached out to take Cheng Yixin’s hand and brought her to her side.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming suddenly?” Cheng Yixin only just snapped out of her surprise. “Are you on holiday?”
“No, I took two days off to come accompany you, lest Siqi cause you trouble.”
“Hey hey hey! Sister! How can you say that about me!”
“No, it’s not like that.” Cheng Yixin spoke up for Feng Siqi with a smile. “She’s been very good; we just got back from dinner.”
Chi Yi had decided to buy a ticket and come over right after seeing Feng Siqi’s messages. Monitoring Feng Siqi was one aspect, but mainly she felt a bit jealous seeing the intimate photo of her cousin and her girlfriend together.
Feng Siqi felt like she was a massive human lightbulb and silently returned to her room.
Cheng Yixin hadn’t known Chi Yi would come suddenly, so her needle felting materials were left out on the table. The main body of the little deer was already finished—a white sphere temporarily fixed to the baseboard.
When Chi Yi sat down, she naturally saw the things on the table at a glance. She picked up the sphere and asked in confusion, “What is this?”
“Just something for pastime when I’m bored, it’s nothing,” Cheng Yixin said as she swept the tools into the storage box.
Chi Yi had hurried over without eating and had waited at the door for nearly an hour, so she was already hungry. Cheng Yixin also hadn’t eaten her fill at dinner. Originally she wanted to go out and eat, but she didn’t want to waste their alone time outside, so she ordered hotel room service.
After the ordeal of flying over, Chi Yi was indeed tired. After eating, they watched TV together for a while and then turned off the lights to sleep.
The next morning, Cheng Yixin got up early. Chi Yi hadn’t woken up yet. She lifted the covers stealthily, afraid of waking her. Fortunately, Chi Yi was sleeping deeply and wasn’t disturbed. Before leaving, Cheng Yixin gently brushed back her hair and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. She left a sticky note telling her to rest well in the hotel and wait for her return.
According to Feng Siqi, she was only staying in Zhenzhou for two or three days. In these few days, Cheng Yixin couldn’t possibly let her just loiter at the film set all the time; she wanted to take her to see nearby scenic spots as a host. Therefore, she negotiated with the director to film her scenes earlier so she could wrap up sooner. The director simply arranged for her scenes to be shot in the morning and the other actors’ in the afternoon, giving her extra time.
“Alright—that’s all for Yixin today, go back and rest!”
“Thank you, Director, I’ll head back to the hotel to rest then!”
Cheng Yixin checked the time: 11:00 AM. It was earlier than she had imagined.
[Cheng Yixin]: I’ve finished work. Discuss with Siqi what we should eat for lunch~
She replied to Chi Yi’s message while waiting for the stylist to help her dismantle her hairstyle and remove her makeup. Once she changed into casual clothes, she could go back.
After half an hour, Cheng Yixin emerged from the crew’s dressing room feeling light and free. Her buoyant mood stopped instantly upon seeing that head of white hair in the crowd. She blinked several times; she wasn’t mistaken. The old gentleman who had disappeared for a while had finally come.
He was searching for something, and their eyes met unexpectedly. The old man took the initiative to wave at her; it was too late for her to run.
On one hand was her girlfriend’s grandfather, and on the other was her girlfriend and her sister. It was hard to balance both sides. What should she say when she met the old man? Should she directly clarify that she knew his identity and that both his granddaughters were in her hands? But the old man had previously had chances to reveal his identity and chose not to; he clearly wanted to hide it. Wouldn’t it be bad to point it out directly?
What was the plan before? To play along and pretend she didn’t know his identity—was it too late to follow that plan now?
Cheng Yixin’s mind was a mess. Her steps toward the old man were heavier than a funeral march. Her thoughts whirled a hundred times, and she hesitated over several opening lines.
None of them could withstand the old man’s first sentence.
“Have you seen Siqi?”
“Huh?”
“Siqi, my granddaughter. Don’t you two know each other?”
Cheng Yixin blinked. Feng Nian took out his phone; on it was Feng Siqi’s “Moments” feed. It was a post from last night, with a photo of Feng Siqi and her from yesterday.

Cheng Yixin nearly fainted.
