Can't Hide My Love for You - Chapter 89
Feng Siqi was forced to learn “Moral and Ideological Education” from her grandfather. Had he not paid her so generously, it would have been impossible for her to attend his lectures so obediently.
Initially, she thought the old man was just passing time on a whim. To her surprise, a scenario strikingly similar to one of his many hypothetical questions soon played out in real life.
A close friend called her, hoping she would accompany her to visit someone in the hospital. The patient was Chen Fei, another “second-generation” socialite in their circle. Naturally, Feng Siqi knew him, but they weren’t close and hadn’t had much contact. Her friend, however, was on intimate terms with him, and her tone even suggested a budding romance.
Feng Siqi checked the time: 8:00 PM. Since the patient was of the opposite sex and her friend would be alone with him, Siqi worried her friend’s “love brain” might take over. For safety’s sake, she decided to go along.
“What happened to him anyway?” Feng Siqi had been so busy with her grandfather’s classes lately that she knew nothing about Chen Fei’s hospitalization.
“Isn’t he a musician now? He was out gathering inspiration when he ran into an accident and fell, injuring his jaw. He’s been hospitalized for treatment. He kept asking me to visit, and since he’s almost recovered and about to be discharged, I thought I’d drop by.”
“Ha.” Feng Siqi found it funny and voiced her doubt: “How do you even fall in a way that only hits your jaw? Are you sure he wasn’t caught cheating and punched by a girl?”
“How is that possible?” Her friend rolled her eyes. “Chen Fei used to be a bit young and reckless, but he’s focused on his career now. I think a serious man is quite handsome.”
Previously, Feng Siqi might have hummed in agreement, but hearing this now, her mind was full of counterarguments.
When they arrived at the private hospital, the friend called Chen Fei to ask for the ward number. There weren’t many patients, and the facility emphasized comfort. Chen Fei’s ward was at the very end of the 7th floor in the Neurology Department. As they followed the nurse, the wards they passed grew emptier and darker. Only the room at the very end was lit.
As their footsteps drew closer, she saw the lights in that ward suddenly go out.
“This is Mr. Chen’s ward,” the nurse said, leading them to the door before turning back.
“The lights were just on. Why did they turn off so suddenly?” Feng Siqi asked suspiciously.
“Maybe he’s about to sleep,” her friend said, not thinking much of it as she pushed the door open.
Feng Siqi was about to follow when her friend suddenly let out an “Ah!” of surprise. The cry made Siqi flinch. Peering into the pitch-black room, she saw a figure hiding behind the door who grabbed her friend, affectionately calling her name: “Sisi~~”
“Ah! You scared me to death!” the friend chided playfully.
“Ahem.” Feng Siqi was speechless. Could you at least look at the setting before playing these kinds of games?
“Oh, Siqi is here too.” Seeing a third person, Chen Fei slowly let go. He said pointedly, “I thought you were coming alone.”
In the past, Feng Siqi wouldn’t have bothered to judge someone’s character, but the “Moral Education” classes had made her alert. She felt Chen Fei was up to no good.
Siqi pulled her friend to sit on the sofa. She watched Chen Fei pour water for them, looking him up and down. Although he was in a hospital gown, his limbs didn’t look injured, and there was no visible abnormality with his jaw.
She feigned confusion. “Why were you hospitalized?”
Chen Fei, with his back to them, froze. Thinking of the damned Chi Yi filled him with hatred, but he couldn’t let it show—especially since Chi Yi and Feng Siqi were cousins. Although they were cousins, their personalities were worlds apart. To him, Chi Yi was like a man-eating flower that could strike at any moment, while Feng Siqi was a typical spoiled heiress. Moreover, in terms of family background, the “pearl in the palm” of the Feng Group’s chairman naturally carried more weight.
“Sigh, you know I’m a singer now—a freelance musician. A while ago, I went to the countryside to find inspiration. The scenery there was incredibly beautiful…” Chen Fei started by talking himself up to inflate his worth.
“…And just then! I saw an old grandmother fall into the water! I couldn’t just stand by, so without a second thought, I jumped in! I saved her, but I accidentally hit my jaw on the way up.”
Chen Fei touched his jaw as he spoke. The bone had been reset, but his speech was still a bit stiff. It would hurt if he talked too much, and it would take time to fully recover.
“Wow! You’re so brave!” Sisi’s eyes turned into hearts, believing his lies completely.
“…” Feng Siqi used her brain to think it through. The more she thought, the more ridiculous it sounded. It was just as Grandpa said: some men use their mouths to disguise themselves as heroes to hide their failures.
“The doctor said I can be discharged today. It’s still early—how about we go to a bar for a drink?” Chen Fei suggested. “I haven’t had a drop since I was admitted. My heart is itching.”
“Sure!” Sisi responded immediately.
“I’m not going,” Feng Siqi said. She had no interest in drinking and felt tired. “Sisi, didn’t you say you have class tomorrow? Go back and rest early. We can call more people to make it lively tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow is tomorrow, we can drink today too,” Chen Fei said. “If Siqi isn’t going, then just the two of us?”
Sisi hesitated.
Chen Fei continued, “We’re so close, do you really need to think about it? Don’t be afraid, Big Brother will protect you. If anyone dares bully you, they’re crossing me!”
Feng Siqi was nearly disgusted to death. Her intuition told her she couldn’t let this go. After much persuasion, she dragged Sisi out of the ward.
“Why didn’t you let me go?” Sisi was still a bit annoyed.
“It’s not good for a man and a woman to go drinking alone late at night. Didn’t he just say he’s been ‘holding it in’ for a long time? He was clearly hinting at something.”
“Oh, you’re overthinking. I’ve known Chen Fei for a long time. I think he’s a decent person; you just think he’s a bit greasy because you don’t know him.”
Feng Siqi stopped and looked her up and down. “So, what do you want to do now? My piece is said.”
Hesitating, and fearing Siqi might get angry, Sisi finally said, “Fine, fine, let’s go back.”
Feng Siqi had driven her own car. She didn’t feel at ease until she dropped Sisi off at her door. Only then did she turn the car around and head home. She had pulled an all-nighter the night before and was incredibly sleepy; had it not been for this trip, she’d be dreaming by now.
She showered and fell into a deep sleep.
Just as she was sleeping soundly, she was woken by her phone. Her brain activated instantly, her temples throbbing. She clutched her head, cursing whoever was calling in the middle of the night, only to see it was Sisi. The time was 1:00 AM.
“Hello,” she said weakly. “What is it? I’m sleeping.”
From the other end came the sound of Sisi sobbing.
“??” Feng Siqi woke up instantly. She sat up. “What happened?”
“I, I…” Sisi’s voice was trembling. “I almost had… relations with him.”
“???!” Feng Siqi’s eyes bugged out. “Huh? Who?!”
“Chen Fei…”
“??” Feng Siqi was even more confused. After asking for Sisi’s location, she scrambled out of bed and drove to find her.
She found Sisi sitting on a roadside flower bed near a hotel. After Sisi had returned home, Chen Fei hadn’t given up and sent another invitation. Sisi was swayed and went to meet him. Initially, they drank normally, but then Chen Fei got “drunk” and asked her to take him to a hotel to rest.
Sisi hadn’t thought much of it, believing they were friends and that nothing “ridiculous” would happen to her. At the hotel, Chen Fei indeed acted drunk and tried to kiss her. Sisi had a bit of a crush on him, so she hesitated and didn’t struggle. But then his hand reached under her clothes; the cold, rough touch made her flinch. When he guided her hand to his crotch, Sisi felt like she’d been electrocuted. She suddenly snapped out of it, pushed him away, and ran.
“I’m so scared now. If I hadn’t come to my senses, we might have already… Even though I like him, I don’t want that kind of one-night-stand relationship…” Sisi, having calmed down, felt a chill all over. She hugged her arms. “He just messaged me saying he drank too much… that’s why he did it. He’s apologizing…”
“If a man is truly drunk, can he even think about that?” Feng Siqi’s expression was as if she’d swallowed a fly. “He clearly wanted to sleep with you. When it didn’t happen, he used being drunk as an excuse for you to forgive him. If it had happened, he could use being drunk as an excuse to walk away the next day. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.”
She talked and talked, nearly wanting to slap Sisi, until her friend finally woke up and deleted Chen Fei’s contact.
It was only then that Feng Siqi realized her circle was actually very messy. People were “nice” to her and didn’t dare target her only because they feared the family behind her. In reality, she was surrounded by wolves.
She sent a warning text to Chen Fei and blocked him. Then, she sent a WeChat message to Feng Nian.
[Feng Siqi]: Grandpa, you are the GOAT (YYDS)!
The old man, receiving this message, was puzzled. He asked his secretary: “What does Siqi mean by sending me ‘YYDS’?”
The secretary had been begged multiple times by an old classmate, saying the female lead of the drama crew was asking every day when the old man would come to film, as dedicated as someone clocking in for work. He was reaching his limit.
“It means ‘Master of Acting,'” the secretary lied with a straight face. “Miss Siqi likely hopes you can become a master of the craft.”
“I see.” Feng Nian stroked his stubble. He had been focusing on his granddaughter lately. “By the way, how is the drama going?”
“Very smoothly. Based on the current progress, it will wrap up in about a month.”
The old man was originally too lazy to bother, having accepted the extra role on a whim. His interest had faded, but thinking of that young girl who didn’t even know him and had so enthusiastically introduced him to work, he was slightly moved.
Far away in Zhenzhou, Cheng Yixin suddenly let out two loud sneezes.
“Cut!” the director shouted. “Yixin, take a break.”
Cheng Yixin gave an OK gesture. As she left the set, Xiao Yu met her with a down jacket and her phone.
“Sister Xin, your phone was ringing just now. Someone messaged you.” Seeing the instant spark of expectation in Cheng Yixin’s eyes, Xiao Yu heartlessly extinguished it: “It wasn’t President Chi.”
“Tch.” She slowly opened her phone to see it was Feng Siqi. Since they added each other, they’d talked once or twice but not since. Thinking of what Chi Yi had said earlier, she figured the cousin was here to “gossip.” She was a bit nervous before opening the chat.
After opening it, she became even more nervous.
Feng Siqi said she wanted to visit the set to see how celebrities film and asked if it was okay.
Visit if you must, Cheng Yixin thought. After all, she was the future cousin-in-law. Plus, she could pick Siqi’s brain for Chi Yi’s birthday gift. The more surprises for her girlfriend, the better. She could also learn about Chi Yi’s past life. Cheng Yixin’s mind was spinning with plans.
“Yixin,” the director called out. “Haven’t you been asking about Elder Feng? He replied. He’ll be coming in the next two days. You should give him some good guidance then.”
“Okay… uh?” Cheng Yixin froze, her mind a mess.
Did this mean Chi Yi’s grandfather and her cousin were going to appear on set at the same time?
She hadn’t even gotten comfortable with one of them yet! And now two were coming at once!?
“Um…” Cheng Yixin said tentatively, “Director, actually I’m not in that much of a rush. Why don’t you have the old man come a bit later?”
“…” The director gave her a death stare.
