Can't Hide My Love for You - Chapter 22.1
Cheng Yixin confirmed it several times—the 11-digit number was identical. The anonymous person who had tipped her off about her ex’s cheating was Chi Yi. Her mind was in a whirl.
Meanwhile, Chi Yi was finishing a meeting. Her assistant, Siwen, mentioned that Grace (a luxury brand) wanted to buy advertising space on Future City’s giant outdoor screen. Future City, inherited from Chi Yi’s parents, was famous for its service and high foot traffic, yet Chi Yi notoriously refused to host advertisements to maintain the customer experience.
“Tell the brand I’m not interested in their spokesperson, so I refuse,” Chi Yi said coldly. Siwen smiled. “President Chi, you might as well just read out Professor Cheng’s ID card number.”
Chi Yi checked her phone and saw that fans had already created a “CP Super Talk” for her and Cheng Yixin, naming them “Yixin Yiyi” (A play on a Chinese idiom meaning “wholehearted”). Chi Yi liked the name so much she gave a post a “Like.”
A Dinner Under the Stars
At 6:00 PM, Chi Yi arrived at the villa. They had dinner in the courtyard under fairy lights. Cheng Yixin noticed that half the dishes were non-spicy—a rare sight for her, as she loved spicy food. She realized she was subconsciously catering to Chi Yi’s palate.
During dinner, Cheng Yixin brought up the cookies. “I tried the new cookies at your supermarket today. They taste different from the ones you gave me.” Chi Yi didn’t hide it. “Because those were prepared specifically for you. I made them myself.”
Cheng Yixin was stunned. “You made them? Aren’t you busy?” “I can make time,” Chi Yi said, slightly embarrassed. “Besides, I need to have something about me that attracts you…”
The Truth Unveiled
Cheng Yixin took a sip of soup and asked the burning question: “You were the one who sent me the anonymous text about Lu Qing cheating, weren’t you?” Chi Yi froze, then nodded. “Yes.” “Why?” “I didn’t want you to get hurt,” Chi Yi replied softly. She explained that she had seen Lu Qing with another woman at a hotel by chance and had used her connections to get Cheng Yixin’s private number.
“I thought you would be angry,” Chi Yi admitted. “Why would I be angry? You helped me see her for who she was. Thank you.”
The Kiss and the “Little Deer”
After dinner, they watched the variety show together. Cheng Yixin gave Chi Yi the gift she bought—the rose tea. Chi Yi was genuinely touched, acting as if she had received a priceless treasure. She even put the signed card Cheng Yixin gave her into her wallet.
As they watched the show, Cheng Yixin grew tired and fell asleep on Chi Yi’s shoulder. When she woke up and saw Chi Yi looking down at her with unmistakable tenderness, her heart skipped a beat. Maybe a younger girlfriend… is okay, she thought.
Following her subconscious, Cheng Yixin reached up, hooked her arm around Chi Yi’s neck, and kissed her. It was soft and sudden. Chi Yi was so stunned she didn’t know how to react, looking like a “startled little deer.”
Cheng Yixin sat up and straddled Chi Yi’s lap. She teased her, lightly nipping at Chi Yi’s lip and leading her into a deep “French kiss.” Chi Yi, completely inexperienced, could only let herself be swept away.
“You’re so cute,” Cheng Yixin laughed softly, cupping Chi Yi’s flushed face. “Like a little deer, pure and clear.” Chi Yi looked at her, a bit worried. “You don’t like ‘cute,’ right? You told me you like older, mature types.” Cheng Yixin stood up, patting her head. “I don’t. But for a little deer, I can make an exception.”
A Sudden Visit
The next day at the company gym, Cheng Yixin was cooling down on a stationary bike when Chi Yi suddenly appeared. She wanted to fulfill her promise of taking Cheng Yixin to the supermarket to buy snacks.
As Cheng Yixin tried to dismount the bike, she stumbled. Chi Yi caught her, wrapping her arms around her waist. Cheng Yixin, wearing only a sports bra, felt the heat of Chi Yi’s hands and quickly pulled away to hide her embarrassment.
While Cheng Yixin showered, Chi Yi checked Weibo. The “Yixin Yiyi” Super Talk had grown to over a hundred members. However, she saw a comment from a hater pointing out that Cheng Yixin didn’t even follow Chi Yi on Weibo.
Chi Yi’s mood turned slightly sour. It seemed the “Little President” had a new mission: to get her “girlfriend” to follow her back.
