- Can You Believe It? I Ran into My Ex on a Dating Variety Show
- Chapter 13 - A Screen Full of Mosaics
[Shi Yu is such a cold, top-tier beauty. He is quiet, but I bet he is fierce in bed, right?]
[He Xingzhi has to be the fiercest. I bet he could go for seven days and seven nights straight!]
[Shi Yu might just be a “salted fish” type. A lazy, beautiful fish like that should definitely be on the bottom, right?]
[I feel like Shi Yu might be sexually indifferent. He is the type who just passively endures it, but if things get too rough, he will get angry and bite.]
[That is way too exciting! I want to see the big beauty getting angry and biting someone. If I do not see that in this lifetime, I will not be able to die in peace.]
[I am shipping Shi Yu and Su Jingxi. Cold beauty Top versus noisy, sunny Bottom. If you do not understand the appeal of this dynamic, I feel sorry for you.]
[Shi Yu and He Xingzhi are clearly a better match. Their visuals match, and enemies to lovers is way more interesting!]
[If Shi Yu and He Xingzhi actually end up together, I will do a live stream of myself washing my hair while doing a headstand.]
Shi Yu finished changing his pants and returned to the living room, re-entering the live broadcast frame. He had swapped his dark black pants for a light coffee colored pair, keeping the casual look.
When He Xingzhi saw him come out, he stood up. Zhang Bin and Liu Xiuxiu followed suit. Liu Xiuxiu looked at He Xingzhi eagerly and said, “I, I will go along too.” Since he was one of the head chefs for tonight, it was only natural for him to go.
Zhang Bin looked at He Xingzhi and asked, “Do you still need me? Will four people be too many for grocery shopping?”
Liu Xiuxiu added, “Three people should be enough.”
He Xingzhi said bluntly, “Zhang Bin, you follow Liu Xiuxiu. Watch what he buys and help him carry things. I will take Shi Yu and buy what I need for my dishes.”
“No problem with me,” Zhang Bin replied.
Liu Xiuxiu lowered his head, looking quite unhappy. Shi Yu stood to the side, waiting quietly. He generally did not initiate conversation, standing there like a stunning piece of scenery. However, because he was so handsome, it was impossible to ignore his presence.
Su Jingxi wailed, “I want to go grocery shopping with Brother Shi too! I have never seen what he looks like when he is buying groceries.”
He Xingzhi walked over immediately, using his tall frame to block Su Jingxi’s lingering gaze toward Shi Yu.
“Are we going or not? Do you not want to eat?” He Xingzhi snapped at Shi Yu.
Shi Yu looked at him, waiting for him to lead the way. He Xingzhi did not move. “Go on.”
Shi Yu had no choice but to walk in front. He Xingzhi followed closely behind. From the living room to the door, Su Jingxi did not get another chance to see even a single strand of Shi Yu’s hair.
A small bus was used to take the four of them and the camera crew to the store. Shi Yu was the first to board, taking a seat right by the door. He Xingzhi sat in the very last row. The last row had four seats, preceded by two rows and a middle aisle.
Liu Xiuxiu and Zhang Bin followed. Liu Xiuxiu boarded first and hesitated at the door, glancing at He Xingzhi several times. He moved to walk toward him, but He Xingzhi simply lay down across the back row. Biting his lip, Liu Xiuxiu sat down in a row near the back, looking aggrieved. Zhang Bin chose a seat across the aisle from Shi Yu.
The production team’s driver took them to the nearest large supermarket, about a ten minute drive away. Shi Yu was the first to hop off and waited quietly. The cameraman followed, getting a close up of his face. Once everyone was out, they entered the supermarket.
Liu Xiuxiu was the shortest and smallest of the four, standing at less than 175 centimeters. Zhang Bin followed slightly behind him and asked, “Xiuxiu, do we have a lot to buy? Is one cart enough?” He prepared to grab a trolley.
Liu Xiuxiu nodded. “It is enough. The production team only gave us a thousand yuan, so we should be frugal.” While speaking, he specifically glanced at He Xingzhi.
However, He Xingzhi was used to doing things his own way and did not acknowledge Liu Xiuxiu’s comment. He pulled out the outermost trolley. As he was about to leave, he noticed Shi Yu had not followed; Shi Yu was still standing with Liu Xiuxiu.
With a dark expression, He Xingzhi walked over and said, “Here is the cart. Follow me. People who cannot cook should at least share the burden of other tasks. You do not know how to pick vegetables, but surely you know how to push a cart?”
Shi Yu looked at the handle of the trolley, which had been pushed by countless people. He frowned and pulled a bottle of alcohol disinfectant from his pocket. Just as he was about to spray it, He Xingzhi scoffed. “Tsk, you are so much trouble. Just follow me and do not wander off.”
He Xingzhi then pushed the cart himself and walked ahead. Shi Yu followed obediently.
He Xingzhi picked out ingredients while pushing the cart. Knowing Shi Yu liked Steamed Eight Treasure Fish, he bought the plumpest one he could find. He then detoured to the condiment section to grab a bottle of seafood soy sauce. Since Shi Yu liked Steamed Beef with Luffa, he bought beef and selected some loofahs, ginger, and garlic. He also picked up ingredients for Steamed Egg with Shrimp and a simple stir fried vegetable dish.
After the groceries, he went to get the fruits Shi Yu enjoyed: Shine Muscat grapes, milk strawberries, bananas, and apples. If it were not getting late and he was not worried about missing dinner, he would have even bought some ribs to stew a soup. Shi Yu loved soup.
These things did not require a special effort to remember; it was not that he was intentionally trying to buy them. It was just that once he arrived at the supermarket, he subconsciously sought them out.
Once everything was selected, He Xingzhi looked at the contents of the cart and began to sulk again. He realized only after finishing that everything he had chosen was something Shi Yu liked. He did not want Shi Yu to think he had not moved on from their love, nor did he want Shi Yu to discover he still loved him.
Gritting his teeth, he said, “Do not misunderstand. I did not pick these specifically for you. I just happened to feel like eating these things.”
Shi Yu did not expose him. He simply said, “I did not misunderstand.”
He Xingzhi gave a cold snort and walked to the snack aisle to buy himself a large bag of strawberry milk flavored lollipops. The only thing he bought for himself was that small bag, lying lonely in the corner of the shopping cart.
When they were dating, He Xingzhi always loved buying things for Shi Yu. After a trip to the supermarket, the cart would basically be filled with things Shi Yu liked.
Shi Yu lowered his eyelashes and followed He Xingzhi in silence.
When they checked out and left, He Xingzhi carried his purchases while Zhang Bin followed with two large bags of Liu Xiuxiu’s groceries. Shi Yu walked at the very front, carrying nothing at all.
Liu Xiuxiu followed behind and offered to help. “Brother Zhang Bin, let me take some. I cannot let you two carry everything.” He reached out, attempting to take a grocery bag from Zhang Bin.
The bags in Zhang Bin’s hands were very heavy. Zhang Bin dodged Liu Xiuxiu’s hand and said, “Little guy, do not touch these. These two bags are extremely heavy; you cannot carry them.”
[Shi Yu, he is hinting that you are not helping,] the system said, eager to stir up trouble.
Shi Yu stopped in his tracks. When He Xingzhi caught up, Shi Yu tilted his head and asked, “Do you need my help?”
He Xingzhi replied, “With this little weight? Who are you looking down on? Do you not remember?”
He Xingzhi did not finish his sentence and quickened his pace to walk ahead.
[Based on my past knowledge of him, the words he did not finish should have been: “Do you not remember how I used to carry you up the stairs without any effort?”]
[Mhm, he carried you up the stairs more than once, did he not? From the first floor to the second, all I saw was a screen full of mosaics.]
Shi Yu: “…”
That was indeed very tiring.
