- Chapter 2 - The War Between Immortals and Demons — Wouldn't You Have to Breastfeed Him Yourself...
“Immortal Venerable Gu’s sword is truly formidable! Everywhere the blade passes, a layer of frost forms!”
“That sword is called Winter’s Edge. It can slash through all things; it can even split the firmament. This time… cough cough… this time, the Demon Lord cannot escape…”
Wu Hengmu wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth as he was supported by a disciple.
Gu Qingyun’s eyes narrowed slightly, a trace of icy light lingering in his sharp, captivating, star-like pupils.
As the tip of Winter’s Edge pointed toward Ye Yuan, Gu Qingyun lightly touched the ground and leaped toward him.
I originally thought Gu Qingyun was just all show… I didn’t expect… he has some real skill…
“Cough cough!”
Ye Yuan had been wounded by the blade. The wound was initially blood-red, but soon it was frozen over by a layer of frost. He placed his hand over it, only then managing to catch his breath.
The look he gave Gu Qingyun grew even more vicious.
“It seems that today, either you die or I perish.” Ye Yuan gripped the vibrating Blood Cries sword in his hand.
Gu Qingyun’s gaze toward him carried a touch of pity. “I have already asked you—did you feel any remorse? Since you are stubborn and refuse to repent, I shall take your life!”
“Winter’s Edge, Thousand Frosts and Hundred Leaves!”
Seeing the usually cold Gu Qingyun reveal a hint of ferocity in his eyes, he recited the incantation.
In an instant, Feixian Peak was enveloped in frost. The Trial Platform, which moments ago had been filled with the smoke of gunpowder, transformed into a world of ice and snow. All the worldly dust and smoke were buried under a layer of clean, hard ice.
Ye Yuan’s face was one of shock. Seeing the towering ice walls about to close in completely, he roared, “Blood Cries!”
The sword slashed toward the clear sky, sending a surge of sword energy smashing directly upward, but alas, it was a step too late.
Ye Yuan pointed at Gu Qingyun in a fury: “You old thing! What on earth are you playing at!”
“Full of filth today, I shall act on behalf of the Heavenly Dao and rid it of a monster like you!”
As soon as he spoke, the sword energy Gu Qingyun unleashed broke through like bamboo, forcing Ye Yuan to retreat again and again.
The Demon Lord narrowed his eyes, his crimson orbs bloodshot. He knew he couldn’t face a rigid old fossil like Gu Qingyun head-on, so he halted his offense.
“Wait a moment! This Venerable was wrong! I feel remorse, remorse!”
Gu Qingyun withdrew Winter’s Edge, hesitant. “Truly?”
At this moment, the two Immortal Venerables, Su Hanshan and Wu Hengmu, were already filled with sorrowful expressions.
“What did I say? For hundreds of years, he’s never been able to change that lousy personality!” Wu Hengmu slapped his thigh again in frustration.
Just then, Demon Lord Ye Yuan summoned his demonic beast, which lunged straight for Gu Qingyun.
Caught off guard, Gu Qingyun was attacked by the giant beast. He collected his expression and stared, momentarily stunned, before looking at the triumphant Ye Yuan.
“Refusing to repent—you are seeking death.”
This time, Gu Qingyun changed his demeanor. The indecisive nature vanished, and he swung Winter’s Edge as though he were a heartless puppet on a battlefield.
His eyes held only one purpose to make Ye Yuan die!
Ye Yuan had successfully provoked Gu Qingyun. Before Gu Qingyun, the demonic beast was like a wild cat, possessing no ability to intimidate.
Gu Qingyun, on the other hand, merely recited a section of a curse and gathered the massive demonic beast into the palm of his hand.
The previously ferocious beast had actually shrunk into the size of a fluffy, cat-like animal!
Ye Yuan was burning with rage, gritting his back molars. He gripped Blood Cries and charged forward he was going all out, even if he died, he would drag Gu Qingyun down to hell with him!
“Gu Qingyun, give me your life!”
Gu Qingyun watched the fledgling Ye Yuan with indifference, feeling only boredom. Then, in the blink of an eye, Gu Qingyun flashed behind the Demon Lord and plunged his sword into his body.
Thwack. The sound of blade entering flesh.
Ye Yuan clutched his chest as countless bone-chilling ice crystals pierced through him!
“Uh… I, I lost?” Ye Yuan couldn’t believe his eyes as he looked at everything before him.
Yes, he had lost, lost utterly and completely. His enemy, Gu Qingyun, hadn’t even used half of his strength.
Ye Yuan fell from high in the sky, smashing into the dirt in a pathetic state. His handsome, arrogant face was covered in dust, resembling a beaten dog.
The sounds of denunciation rang out across Feixian Peak.
Gu Qingyun landed on the hellish Trial Platform, mourning for the thousands of disciples who had lost their lives.
He extended his slender, fair hand and gave a light wave. The ground, strewn with corpses, was instantly frozen in thick ice. Another wave, and green plants beneath the ice layer began to proliferate wildly, threatening to burst through the surface.
With one final wave, the ice layer shattered, and along with it, the corpses turned to dust.
The dying Ye Yuan only now clearly realized Gu Qingyun’s strength. He felt no remorse in his heart; if his life remained, one day, he would grind Gu Qingyun into that same dust and shatter his bones to ash!
Countless green plants burst through the ice, and Feixian Peak was covered in overwhelming flowers and grass!
At that moment, a strange scene appeared in the center of the Bagua array. A newborn baby lay inside, wailing loudly.
Everyone was shocked and turned to look.
Gu Qingyun’s expression tightened, and he walked slowly toward the baby. He looked down and saw a white-skinned, adorable infant.
The baby stopped fussing the moment he saw Gu Qingyun.
Gu Qingyun’s heart suddenly trembled. He looked at the baby intensely and began to calculate silently.
“So that’s how it is.”
Gu Qingyun’s magic was profound, but unfortunately, he had long been unable to ascend to godhood; a final tribulation remained, and now, that tribulation had arrived.
He sighed. Seeing the situation was amiss, Wu Hengmu frowned, then also began to calculate silently. His eyes widened, and he looked at the infant in astonishment.
“No! I know what you are thinking, but absolutely not!”
Wu Hengmu stood up and went to the baby, brandishing his sword.
At the critical moment, Gu Qingyun intercepted him and gathered the baby into his arms.
Gu Qingyun’s expression became severe. His pupils, cold and clear as pale glass, trembled slightly. He used a jade-like fingertip to gently touch the baby’s brow. “Ten million blades of grass wither together; since the Demon Lord’s malice is hard to dispel, I shall call you Ye Qianjue.”
He looked at Wu Hengmu. “The child is innocent. Senior Brother, why not let me raise him? Matters of the future have their own destiny.”
Seeing Wu Hengmu unrelenting, Su Hanshan stepped forward. She lifted the cloth covering Ye Qianjue and exclaimed, “It’s a boy! Maybe he will become your direct disciple in the future!”
“Hmph! What direct disciple!”
Wu Hengmu glared in anger at the two who were colluding, then looked at the clever and well-behaved Ye Qianjue; the anger in his heart faded quite a bit.
He seemed to have discovered something and reached out to probe the baby’s spirit.
Wu Hengmu smiled: “He won’t live long, he’s just an empty shell. If you want to raise him, then raise him!”
With a wave of his hand, Wu Hengmu left.
Seeing this opportunity, the Demon Lord Ye Yuan thought, if not now, when? He transformed into a miniature version of a Qiongqi and secretly prepared to leave.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
A cold voice rang out. Ye Yuan had been discovered. He struggled in mid-air, twisting his body frantically, but it was in vain.
Gu Qingyun looked at the peacefully sleeping Ye Qianjue in his arms, his face gentle. Then, turning his gaze toward Ye Yuan, his expression turned fierce in an instant.
He murmured: “Jue’er’s body is unlike others; without strong magic to support him, he won’t live long…”
Gu Qingyun turned his gaze toward the Demon Lord.
“Demon Lord Ye Yuan, since you have slaughtered thousands of my peak’s disciples, I shall strip your inner core and imprison your body beneath the Demon-Suppressing Tower. When your sins have been washed away, I will naturally release you.”
“Roar roar! Roar! Awoo!”
(You dead old man! How dare you covet this Venerable’s inner core! Once I tear you to pieces, just wait!)
With a scream, an orange-yellow inner core was forcibly extracted by Gu Qingyun and held in his hand right before Ye Yuan’s eyes.
Ye Yuan’s last look was one of absolute hatred!
One day, I will return to Feixian Peak and offer you, Gu Qingyun, as a sacrifice to the heavens!
All disasters had passed. Gu Qingyun looked at Ye Qianjue in his arms—the baby was nursing on his round little fingers, making slurping sounds.
He channeled the extracted inner core into Ye Qianjue’s body. Ye Qianjue smiled, and Gu Qingyun’s face, frozen for a thousand years, finally wore a smile as well.
Su Hanshan, standing to the side, was stunned. She laughed behind her hand and attempted to snatch the baby.
This action immediately drew Gu Qingyun’s displeasure. He retreated a step, looking very guarded. “What are you doing?”
The wrongly accused Immortal Venerable Su lifted her delicate hands, looking innocent. “I don’t have any designs on your precious disciple.” She feigned curiosity: “Wouldn’t you have to breastfeed him yourself?”
“Breastfeed?” Gu Qingyun looked puzzled.
Su Hanshan clapped her hands and pointed at the clueless Gu Qingyun. “Oh my~ don’t tell me you thought children grew up without eating or drinking? You better give him to me, we women know a thing or two about these things~”
Gu Qingyun hesitated for a moment, but looking at the adorable child, he reluctantly handed him to Su Hanshan.
A great battle had come to an end, and the three immortal peaks returned to peace.
Flowers fell to the earth, leaves returned to their roots, and all things reverted to their original tracks. The only thing different was that beneath the Demon-Suppressing Tower, the Demon Lord Ye Yuan, even shackled by chains, remained deeply unwilling to accept his fate.
For five years, Demon Lord Ye Yuan had been searching for a way to escape, day after day, year after year. Finally, the Demon-Suppressing Tower showed a flaw.
A spell was cast on the top of the Demon-Suppressing Tower; without Gu Qingyun’s consent, no one could leave.
But now, there was a loosening. A savage light appeared in Ye Yuan’s eyes: “Gu Qingyun, it seems you haven’t been doing well these past few years~”
Inside the Water Cave of Feixian Peak, Gu Qingyun had been in seclusion for several months. On the ice bed sat the white-haired Immortal Venerable, legs crossed, hands forming seals, his brow furrowed tightly.
It was clear his mind was in turmoil.
At this moment, a knocking sound came from outside the Water Cave.
A five-year-old child raised his white, chubby fists and struck continuously against the barrier Gu Qingyun had set up.
The child’s face was round, like a white flour bun. He opened his big, round eyes, his long lashes stained with tears, and whimpered: “Master… sob sob sob… Jue’er wants Master~”
“Master! Hurry up and open the door… it’s Jue’er! Little Jue is here…”
“Junior Brother!”
A scolding voice came from behind, making Ye Qianjue’s small body tremble.
He looked weakly toward his Senior Brothers Bai Xiuzhu and Senior Sister Bai Fulan as they approached with long strides.
Knowing he had done something wrong, a guilty Ye Qianjue stepped back and stammered: “Bai, Bai Xiuzhu Senior Brother, Bai Senior Sister…”
Bai Xiuzhu snorted: “What ‘Bai Bai Senior Brother’!”
The pitiful Ye Qianjue shrunk into the corner like a small dumpling, not daring to look at Bai Xiuzhu. No one on Feixian Peak could handle Ye Qianjue; only this stern Senior Brother Bai could.
Ye Qianjue pouted his red little lips and picked at his fingers: “Sob sob sob~ Senior Brother is bullying me! I’m going to tell Master you bullied me! Sob sob sob… Master…”
Seeing his nonsense-talking Little Junior Brother, ten-year-old Bai Xiuzhu lost his temper as well. He deliberately leaned in threateningly, hands on his hips: “The villain files the complaint first! Go ahead and scream! Even if you scream until you’re hoarse, Master won’t come out!”
Realizing he had lost his backing, Ye Qianjue quietly withdrew his tears. He raised his little hands and wiped his face with a flourish.
In the blink of an eye, he targeted the gentle Senior Sister nearby.
Ye Qianjue whispered: “Senior Sister~ except for Master, you are the second best. You are on my side! Right?”
Bai Fulan covered her nose and laughed softly, looking at the two who were bickering all day long, completely helpless.
She stepped forward and patted Ye Qianjue’s head.
“Be good, Junior Brother. Xiuzhu is doing this for your own good. I heard you just ran out directly and aren’t even attending lessons. Don’t you usually love Master the most? If Master finds out you skipped class—”
Bai Fulan intentionally lowered her voice to terrify Ye Qianjue.
Sure enough, Ye Qianjue, who was a coward and clung to Gu Qingyun, immediately deflated. He looked in terror at the two faces before him—one man, one woman, utterly wicked!
Demons in human skin!
The poor Ye Qianjue was trembling from head to toe in fright. His lip quivered, his eyes drooped, and a whimpering sound escaped his mouth.
“It’s over!” Bai Xiuzhu and Bai Fulan exchanged looks.
Every time Little Junior Brother made this expression, it meant he was about to start wailing!
And whenever Ye Qianjue cried, one person would appear before him, rain or shine. That person was.
“What are you doing.”
