- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 53 - Lord Xing Chi, I’ll Obey You, Please Don’t Kill Me
In the beast world, inside a dilapidated stone hut.
Xiu Ka was nearly paralyzed with pain. He glanced at the few bottles of medicine beside him, his expression resigned.
“Xiu Ka? Are you alright?”
Xiu Ka lifted his head slightly to look at the person outside, it was Ma Ya, his mother.
Had she come to persuade him too? Or was she here to torture him as well?
He parted his lips slightly, but no sound came out.
“Xiu Ka, how did you get hurt so badly? If you had just agreed earlier, your father wouldn’t have beaten you. Look at these wounds, it breaks my heart.”
Ma Ya stepped closer to Xiu Ka. Though her words sounded sympathetic, her face betrayed no trace of genuine concern.
“Xiu Ka, it’s best if you just obey. Partnering with Vasali isn’t a bad thing for you.”
“Sure, Vasali’s fertility isn’t the best, but that’s not what matters most.”
“You’ve always wanted me to acknowledge you as my son, haven’t you? If you agree to pair with Vasali, I’ll recognize you, I’ll even allow you to call me ‘Mother.’”
Every word Ma Ya spoke felt like a dagger plunging straight into Xiu Ka’s heart.
Mother?
That word was far too foreign to him.
“Why did you abandon me back then? Just because my talent only reached Green-level strength?”
Xiu Ka’s voice was weak, but Ma Ya heard every word clearly.
Ma Ya showed no remorse. She answered as if it were the most natural thing in the world: “Of course. If you want to blame anyone, blame yourself for being so weak.”
“If the other young females in Tiger City found out I gave birth to a male cub with only Green-level strength, they’d look down on me.”
“Just the thought of it makes me ashamed. So, I could never let anyone know I had such a weak son. Xiu Ka, you understand, don’t you?”
Ma Ya believed she had nothing to feel guilty about. Pursuing strength wasn’t shameful, on the contrary, being weak is the real disgrace.
Xiu Ka felt numb from the pain. The wounds on his back barely registered anymore, his heart was the one bleeding now.
His own mother didn’t care about him at all. She even see him as a disgrace.
“You abandoned me for that? I don’t need a mother like you.”
“Don’t try to pressure me with your maternal status. I don’t have a heartless mother like you.”
The pain and fury gave Xiu Ka a burst of strength, and he roared the words at Ma Ya.
But the moment he finished, all his energy drained away, and he collapsed heavily against the wall.
“You can refuse to acknowledge me as your mother, but are you really going to ignore your grandfather too?”
Seeing that persuasion wouldn’t work, Ma Ya resorted to using Wu Er as a threat.
“Grandfather? What are you planning to do to him?”
Ma Ya’s expression turned cold. Was even his grandfather no longer enough to sway him?
“You care so much about your reputation that you wouldn’t even admit I’m your child. If you kill your own father and word gets out, what will the young females of Tiger City say about you? I doubt your reputation would survive that.”
“He’s your father too.”
By the time he finished speaking, Xiu Ka had no strength left.
His back was still bleeding, his body sticky with blood, the heavy scent of iron thick in the air.
But at this moment, he wasn’t too worried. He knew Ma Ya wouldn’t lay a hand on Grandpa, after all, he was her father too.
Ma Ya hadn’t gained any advantage from Xiu Ka and had instead been roared at in return, leaving her in a foul mood.
Bu Tai, seeing that neither of them had managed to persuade Xiu Ka after taking turns, simply gave up.
They had tried both kindness and threats, yet Xiu Ka remained an unyielding tough nut.
Bu Tai had never felt so helpless before, and in his frustration, everything and everyone seemed to irritate him.
If gentle persuasion didn’t work, then it was time to change tactics.
A method that would make Xiu Ka completely obedient.
Xiu Ka lay weakly in the prison cell when suddenly a beast servant approached and placed a bowl of water in front of him.
He hadn’t drunk anything in two days, he was parched.
Xiu Ka struggled to crawl to the bowl and cautiously took a sip.
The sweetness of the spring water spread through his mouth, making him feel as if he had been saved. He carefully drank the entire bowl.
“How is it? The water tastes good, doesn’t it?”
Xiu Ka jerked his head up, Bu Tai had entered without him noticing.
“What are you doing here?”
A bad feeling settled in Xiu Ka’s gut. “What did you put in the water?”
“You’ve been too disobedient, so I added something to make you compliant. As long as you obey all my commands, I’ll give you the antidote.”
Hearing this, Xiu Ka understood, Bu Tai had poisoned him, intending to use the antidote to force his submission.
“You can rest assured, I’d rather die than agree to your demands.”
“What good does struggling like this do for you?”
Bu Tai frowned. It seemed breaking Xiu Ka’s will would take time.
Meanwhile, Mi Yue and Xing Chi had returned to the Beast World. However, instead of entering Tiger City directly, they lay in wait in the forest outside.
Mi Yue’s goal was clear, if they wanted Bu Tai to release their people, they needed leverage to threaten him.
Her first thought was Ma Qi.
“Right now, Ma Qi must be out hunting. It’s the perfect opportunity for us to strike.”
Xing Chi nodded in agreement.
The two made their way to the forest where Ma Qi often hunted. Following his scent, they quickly located him.
Ma Qi was Ma Ya’s most beloved child and the most promising male cub to advance to the Blue Rank.
Capturing Ma Qi would surely force Ma Ya and Bu Tai to compromise.
At that moment, Ma Qi had his sights set on a young spotted deer, lying in ambush, completely still.
The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.
Just as Ma Qi lunged at the deer, Xing Chi struck.
Though he was at a disadvantage on land, his strength far surpassed Ma Qi’s. Even in unfavorable conditions, he could perform at an exceptional level.
As Ma Qi clamped his jaws around the deer’s neck, Xing Chi pounced, pinning both the deer and Ma Qi to the ground.
The sudden attack left Ma Qi shocked and terrified, but he was immobilized, escape was impossible.
“Don’t move. If you do, I’ll kill you right now.”
The coldness in Xing Chi’s voice instantly silenced Ma Qi.
With Xing Chi’s strength, killing him would require no effort at all.
Seeing that the figure beneath him had gone still, Xing Chi gripped Ma Qi’s neck and slowly stood up.
The sharp nails pressed against his skin sent a shiver of fear through Ma Qi. The slightest twitch of the other’s hand, and he would be drenched in blood on the spot.
“Lord Xing Chi, what are you doing?”
Ma Qi’s voice trembled, his words barely louder than a mosquito’s hum as they reached Xing Chi’s ears.
“Obey, and you’ll stay safe. But if you dare run, I’ll kill you right now.”
Xing Chi’s voice was icy enough to freeze the air, sending goosebumps crawling over Ma Qi’s skin as he nodded frantically. “Lord Xing Chi, I, I’ll do whatever you say. Please don’t kill me.”
