- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 38 - The Business Sparks Envy
“Yue, now that we’re back, can you tell me what that thing really was?”
Xing Chi’s words instantly brought Mi Yue’s mind back to that red piece of lingerie. Her face, which had just calmed down, flushed crimson again.
She glared at Xing Chi but stubbornly refused to explain.
“Why won’t you tell me? If you don’t, I’ll just have to guess for myself.”
Xing Chi didn’t outright say the answer. Instead, his hand somehow slipped beneath the hem of Mi Yue’s clothes, gliding over her smooth skin, inching upward bit by bit. Everywhere his fingers touched felt as if it had been lightly scorched by tiny flames.
Mi Yue felt every hair on her body stand on end.
“S-Stop! L-Let me go!”
Her face was so red it seemed about to drip blood. She knew if things continued like this, there’d be no turning back.
But how could her strength compare to that of a male like Xing Chi? No matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t break free.
Xing Chi’s cool palm encountered resistance as it moved, the smoothness of her skin gave way to the edge of fabric. Yet, he had no intention of stopping. Instead, his hand ventured further toward her front.
Panicked, Mi Yue’s mind screamed only one command: stop him. Acting on impulse, she rose onto her tiptoes and pressed her lips against his cold ones.
The sudden kiss successfully diverted Xing Chi’s attention.
He stopped exploring her skin, instead deepening the kiss passionately.
While Xing Chi was still lost in the moment, Mi Yue frantically plotted her escape.
Seizing the moment when his grip loosened, she abruptly crouched down, slipped out of his embrace, and dashed two steps back before bolting toward the bedroom. With lightning speed, she slammed the door shut and locked it.
Xing Chi’s arms were left empty. Watching Mi Yue’s fleeing figure, he could only chuckle helplessly.
His little female had run away, but there were certain things he still had to deal with. The throbbing heat below was impossible to ignore.
So, he headed to the backyard pool to cool off.
…
Mi Yue took the fruits and clothes she had purchased to the Beast World to sell at her stall. Gradually, thanks to her unique products, many people came to recognize her, and her stall became their go-to place for shopping.
Her business flourished, and soon she had saved up nearly fifty orange crystal beads.
With such success and profits, it was only natural that other fruit vendors would take notice.
After all, every additional stall meant more competition, and fewer customers for them.
Where did this little female’s goods even come from?
They were indeed varieties no one had seen before, and those dresses were undeniably beautiful.
The main reason they couldn’t compete with Mi Yue was that their fruits simply couldn’t match hers in quality.
If they could just take her fruits for themselves, they’d surely make a fortune too.
Some, driven mad by envy, began to consider darker methods.
One day, Mi Yue arrived at her stall as usual.
Her spot on the street wasn’t fixed, vendors often fought over locations, but she didn’t mind.
After all, business was business, and her loyal customers would search the entire street for her stall anyway. She no longer worried that changing spots would affect her sales.
Mi Yue had just finished selling a batch of fruit and was about to restock when several exceptionally strong males suddenly appeared in front of her stall.
“Gentlemen, please wait a moment. I still have some fruit to arrange. Feel free to look at what’s already out and decide what you’d like to buy.”
Mi Yue hadn’t expected customers so soon, so she quickened her pace.
The males didn’t respond to her words, nor did they bother inspecting the fruit already displayed.
One of them fixed his gaze on the pouch lying on the table, the one containing the crystal beads Mi Yue had just earned, and reached for it.
Mi Yue immediately dropped the fruit in her hands and shielded the pouch on her person.
Meanwhile, the other males grabbed armfuls of fruit and dresses from the stall, preparing to flee.
“Xing Chi! Someone’s stealing our fruit!” Mi Yue shouted.
Xing Chi, who had spent the morning hunting and the afternoon accompanying Mi Yue to the market, was resting under a tree. Even a Blue-tier male like him could grow weary.
Hearing Mi Yue’s cry, he instantly darted over, shielding her behind him.
Seeing the males making off with a large portion of their goods, fury surged through him.
“Stop right there!”
“You dare steal from me? You’re asking for death!”
Xing Chi roared, but the thieves only scattered, clutching their loot and sprinting faster.
Of course, he wouldn’t let them escape so easily. He charged after them, determined to reclaim what was theirs.
The thieves were strong and numerous, and though burdened with stolen goods, they were confident they could hold their own against a single Blue-tier male.
But a Blue-tier was still a Blue-tier, far beyond what these Green-tier males could match.
Though outnumbered and struggling, Xing Chi refused to back down.
Realizing they were no match for him, the thieves grew desperate. Unwilling to leave empty-handed, they abandoned the fruit and turned their attention to the far more valuable pouch on Mi Yue.
With those crystal beads, they’d never have to worry about food or shelter again.
Seeing their shift in target, Xing Chi rushed back to protect Mi Yue.
Fearing he might accidentally hurt her, he held back, giving the thieves an opening to wound him.
One of them, cornered and reckless, lashed out at Mi Yue. Xing Chi took the brunt of a sharp tiger claw to his abdomen, shoving her out of harm’s way.
“Xing Chi!”
“Run! Don’t worry about me!”
The thieves, sensing blood like wolves, pressed their attack even harder.
But Xing Chi was exhausted, injured, and struggling to hold them off.
In that critical moment, Mi Yue threw caution to the wind. Ignoring the risk of exposing herself, she grabbed Xing Chi and whisked them both back to the modern world.
Coincidentally, Ma Qi, the fifth son of Xiu Ka, happened to be strolling through the market and witnessed the scuffle.
He had intended to enjoy the spectacle, only to realize the victims were none other than Mi Yue and Xing Chi.
This was huge. Everyone knew Xing Chi’s reputation, yet here he was, hunted down and wounded by a few males, looking utterly disheveled.
Hmph. So much for being a Blue-tier male. And they say I’m the one without talent.
Overjoyed, Ma Qi dashed home and eagerly recounted the exaggerated scene to his father, Bu Tai.
“Father, it seems Lord Xing Chi’s strength is rather… unimpressive.”
“Chased by several green-level males, and you wouldn’t believe how utterly pathetic he looked.”
“Even got seriously injured saving that lowly black-haired little female. Who knows what he was thinking.”
Ge Lia sneered, finally finding an outlet for the frustration she’d been holding in.
“Lord Xing Chi was hunted down?”
“Probably pissed off the other vendors on that street. If Mi Yue had just told us the supply channels earlier, none of this would’ve happened. Serves them right.”
Hearing Ma Qi’s words, Ge Lia also took malicious pleasure in the situation.
But as luck would have it, their conversation was overheard by Xiu Ka, who happened to be passing by.
Xiu Ka immediately rushed to Mi Yue’s stall, only to find no trace of her, just a pool of blood on the ground.
What happened here?
