- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 26 - Shaman Yue, Please Don’t Abandon Me
Mi Yue frowned. (So that’s how it is. No wonder the Tiger Tribe chief was so confident.)
But nature is unpredictable, and fortune is ever-changing.
Among the thirty-five young females, three indeed had fertility levels reaching green grade.
One of them had just come of age and hadn’t yet formed a bond. Her parents and relatives in the Tiger Tribe were naturally overjoyed at her inclusion.
The other two young females were already bonded. One even had three tiger cubs who had already grown knee-high.
The other was an old acquaintance of Mi Yue, Lan Di, the young female who had previously tried to force herself on Xiu Ka but failed.
Her two mates were heartbroken. “Lan Di, please don’t go to Tiger City, okay?”
“We’ll hunt harder to make sure you’re well-fed. Don’t abandon us.”
“That’s right. Whatever you want, we’ll get it for you. Just don’t leave.”
Two tall, burly males hunched over, pleading softly with the yellow-furred young female.
Lan Di’s expression was resolute. “Tiger City can’t be compared to the tribe. It’s prosperous and has so many things I’ve never seen before. I want to go and see for myself.”
During the fertility assessment earlier, the males from Tiger City had subtly extolled the city’s prosperity and the preferential treatment given to green-grade young females, turning what had been a mere flicker of interest into four-blown desire.
Lan Di was especially captivated.
“Ka Si’er, Dan Dun, if you love me, let me go. If I can’t enter Tiger City, I’ll never be happy in this lifetime.”
Mi Yue stood to the side, clicking her tongue. (Such familiar PUA tactics “If you love me, let me go.” How nauseating.)
(Why not just be honest and say, “I want a better life, so don’t stand in my way”?)
Hearing her blunt commentary, Xiu Ka chuckled softly. Only she could come up with such novel and amusing remarks.
His eyes narrowed as he glanced at Lan Di, feeling not an ounce of goodwill toward this pretentious, selfish young female.
If Shaman Yue hadn’t helped him last time, he might have been among the abandoned this time.
He had sworn never to be the one left behind again!
Lan Di’s three older brothers stepped forward, each restraining one of the two males.
“Enough nonsense. It’s an honor for my sister to enter Tiger City. Don’t stand in her way.”
“Be magnanimous, as males should. Don’t you want her to be happy?”
“Hmph! With the three of us here, no one’s stopping our sister from going to Tiger City!”
The blond male named Ka Si’er wiped away his tears, his gaze firm. “Fine. I won’t stop you from going to Tiger City. But I’m dissolving our bond. From now on, we go our separate ways.”
“Ka Si’er, you loved me the most! Why would you dissolve our bond?” Lan Di looked utterly shocked.
“I refuse! I won’t let you dissolve our bond. You’ll be my mate for life, don’t even think about being with another young female!”
Wu Er sighed. “If the young female refuses, the male has no right to dissolve the bond. What a shame. Ka Si’er is such a fine young male, doomed to waste his life on Lan Di. He’ll never have offspring of his own now.”
Ka Si’er was heartbroken, filled with regret for having been blind enough to bond with Lan Di in the first place.
His eyes scanned the surroundings, but the Tiger Tribe chief was nowhere to be seen. Gai Ya, too, stood far in the back, paying no attention.
Finally, his desperate gaze fell upon a frail figure. Breaking free from the male’s control, he staggered forward and knelt down.
“Shaman Yue, I beg you to dissolve my partnership with Lan Di. I am willing to serve you for the rest of my life.”
The eyes of everyone present turned toward them, only then realizing that Shaman Yue, who had been missing for days, had actually returned.
Mi Yue looked on with a heavy heart and silently nodded before turning her gaze to Lan Di.
Lan Di bit her lip. “Shaman Yue, even if you can communicate with the Beast God, you cannot force me to dissolve my partnership with Ka Si’er. That would be immoral.”
(Hah, morality? You dare speak of it!)
Mi Yue tightened her grip on the stun gun, secretly increasing the current. The crackling sound of electricity made everyone’s hair stand on end.
Wu Er stepped forward to mediate. “Lan Di, you will find a new partner in Tiger City. Please let Ka Si’er and Dan Dun go so they won’t have to grow old alone.”
Under the pressure of Mi Yue’s electric threat, Lan Di, though reluctant, had no choice but to agree to dissolve her partnership with Ka Si’er and of course, Dan Dun wasn’t left out either.
Another young female, seeing this, also dissolved her partnership with her mate. Then, amidst the heart-wrenching cries of her children, she stepped through the gates of Tiger City.
The hardest things in life are parting in life and parting in death. Mi Yue felt her nose sting with emotion, but she couldn’t bring herself to blame the young female. She was only trying to survive.
“Why? Those were her mate and children. How could she just abandon them like that? How could she just throw them away?”
“If that’s the case, why did she even form a partnership in the first place? Why did she bring them into this world?” Xiu Ka’s eyes reddened at the corners as he clenched his fists, his gaze filled with resentment as he stared at the young female’s retreating figure.
[Target of Care: Xiu Ka’s Corruption Value +30. Host, please quickly soothe him to reduce the corruption value.]
“Xiu Ka, don’t bite yourself. It’s not your fault. You did nothing wrong.” Wu Er anxiously tried to pry his grandson’s hand away, but even as blood seeped from the bite marks, Xiu Ka refused to let go.
Mi Yue’s heart ached at the sight. Standing on her tiptoes, she placed her pale little hand over Xiu Ka’s crimson eyes.
(Xiu Ka, you did nothing wrong. Neither did she.) She couldn’t bring herself to say it aloud, so she tried communicating through her thoughts.
“She did nothing wrong? How could she have done nothing wrong? She abandoned her children!”
Xiu Ka spiraled into madness, gripping Mi Yue’s shoulders as he spoke through gritted teeth.
His grip was so strong it made her shoulders ache, but with his corruption value skyrocketing, she couldn’t afford to focus on the pain.
Confirming that her thoughts were getting through, she continued to soothe him gently. (Xiu Ka, she just wanted to survive. Maybe once she’s settled in Tiger City, she’ll come back for her children. Or perhaps, when the children grow stronger and gain the qualifications to enter the city, they can reunite as a family.)
“Reunite as a family?” Xiu Ka’s emotions calmed slightly, his dazed eyes fixed on the towering gates of Tiger City.
“Reunite as a family?” Wu Er repeated the words, wandering off absentmindedly, lost in thought.
“Shaman Yue, would you abandon me just to survive?” Xiu Ka asked bluntly, his earnest gaze fixed on her, unwilling to miss even the slightest change in her expression.
Mi Yue answered without hesitation: (I would never.) Because staying by your side is how I survive.
She had entered Xiu Ka’s life to survive, and now she would take responsibility for him, ensuring he lived without worry, in good health, until the end of his days.
Hearing Mi Yue’s words, Xiu Ka felt as though he had died and come back to life.
His pounding heart could no longer be concealed as his arms tightly encircled the figure in his embrace.
“Shaman Yue, please don’t leave me. I beg you, don’t abandon me.”
Mi Yue watched as the darkening value gradually faded, and her anxious heart finally settled. She gently stroked Xiu Ka’s broad back, silently soothing him.
Xiu Ka’s eyes burned with intensity, his large hands trembling as they cradled his beloved’s face, his lips drawing nearer.
The moment their soft lips met, Mi Yue’s pupils dilated, her breath catching in her throat.
“What are you two doing?!”
